My nephew had a flat tire today. We brought the tire in and John, the GM, said they only had an expensive tire in stock and could get lower cost alternatives in the next few days. We asked to get a used tire while we waited for the lower cost one to come in and he had one in the back. He installed and balanced it for us and when we asked what we need to pay he said it was on him. I will not forget this good deed he did today. We would definitely recommend that you go see them if you need honest help.

Pep Boys was very nice and pleasant. There was a problem when I left with my car. Got onto I-85 and all of my lights went out one right after each other. They sent a tow truck to send it back. The next couple days went by and something else happened. Now its in the shop again. But in the long run, everyone was very nice to me.

I ordered tires online on a Sunday afternoon. The website said they would be available for installation that Monday. I scheduled installation for Tuesday just to make sure they had an extra day to get the tires in. I got off work early and drove 45 minutes to PepBoys just to find out that they didnt have the tires. The guy working there was really nice about the situation and genuinely felt bad. Thats why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

Took a vehicle to have an issue diagnosed, told me i was going to have to replace the engine. took it for a second opinion at another local shop and they found out the fuel pump had gone bad and the engine ran like normal on an alternate fuel source. beware, they will diagnose you the most expensive fix.

I went to discount tire first but they treated me terrible, so I went to pep boys instead . They were super friendly and even though it was almost closing time they still took the time to get my tire fixed. The customer service is awesome. The manger is really nice.

Went in for a full synthetic oil change, tire repair and tire rotation using CarAdvise. The tire “repaired” was only put back on the rim and I was told that it had only “rolled off the bead”. Tires were not rotated. The next time the vehicle was used, the tire went flat again while driving only 2 miles to my sons school. I called and reported said issues and went back in for resolution. The tire did indeed have a puncture and needed repair which was not detected on the first visit, and the tires were rotated this time. Make sure to double check that they’ve done what is ordered to be done before leaving the facility! It may save you lots of frustration, anger and time.

I have nothing but admiration to the team and staff of pepboys gastonia. They have been patient with my questions and they explained everything that needs to be done with my car before they did the service and they also gave me a quote. I came 3 months ago to get my brakes done and they sound worst then before🤨 this is the worst company ever for car repairs no one greets when you come in. Booked a 2:30 appointment online for an inspection, tire rotation and oil change. But when I arrive after a 40 minute drive I was told that they don’t have anymore openings for today and he hasn’t had a chance to update the web appointments online! I said thanks but if I had known I wouldn’t have wasted my time and money to get here! He said the best he could do was Monday or Tuesday and he could knock $20 off the oil change then! Well I guess if it didn’t take 3 guys to plug a tire (cause that was the scene I pulled up to) then they would’ve had the time for more services! Guess I should thank them cause not one of the so called technicians I saw looked fit to service a damn blender so I surely didn’t want them working on my F-450! Should know better by now to shop local!

The manager at this location, John, was so very helpful! I definitely recommend going here if you need something done to your vehicle! They didn’t have the parts for the car since they only have tires in the store for the time being but we went to get them from advance and came back and he put them on in no time! He did everything he could to help us get everything fixed that another car shop messed up, and we didn’t even have to wait long! This is the second time I have came to this location and all of the employees have been very helpful and nice!

One of the few places actually stocking any depth of selection for tires right now. I was not terribly impressed with the miss by the tire installer on not properly programming new tire pressure monitor sensor. This necessitated a return trip within an hour to get it redone correctly.Also when checking out I had to remind the person settling my ticket that I was buying a full set that had a buy 3 get one free deal. If I hadnt caught it I guess I would have just paid an extra $200+ dollars and- oh well - too bad for you Mr. Customer. I mean the deal is right there on the screen in red lettering.... ooops, I didnt see it? I may come back for further service but I will have to keep a sharp eye apparently on every part of the transaction.

Thought I was having a power steering issue, spoke with Mary Beth on the phone she was very kind as well as knowledgeable. When I arrived at the store Mary Beth assisted me further and directed me to Bryan. Bryan was super amazing to help me check my power steering in the scorching heat. When it wasnt the ps making the squeaking sound, Bryan went above and beyond to help me diagnose the real issue. He determine it is my shocks squeaking. Awesome knowledge about my type of vehicle. I was given an estimate, and plan to return soon to replace my front shocks. Thanks Mary Beth, Bryan, and the retail service as well. Great job!!!!

Had car issues and broke down on the way home (Chicago). Kaitlyn was extremely helpful and super nice. Allowed me to come in a few minutes before shop opened and took me right in, was fast, communicated with me and made sure everything was in place before telling me what needed to be done, attentive to the situation. Bought two auto batteries for $129.99 each, each with three year warranties, from this place on 03/15/2019. One of the batteries went dead and was returned for a replacement on 1/07/2020, just over 8 months of use. A new battery was provided but was told that this new battery would not come with the normal three year warranty as I had already used up 8 months of the three year warranty period. Now the warranty of the new battery was reduced to 2 years and 4 months. I contended that the battery that I returned was defective and that I should get the 3 year warranty on the replacement battery. To no avail. On 2/10/2020, the other battery that I had purchased died. When I returned it for a warranty replacement, was told that the warranty on the new replaced battery was now down to 2 years and 3 months ect. Also, snotty manager when tried to argue my case. People at Advance Auto told me never heard of such an attitude and they honored original warranties on returns. BEWARE. NOT GOOD!

Great experience, got my tires at a great price, quick service. Did have an issue with one tire holding air but they replaced the whole valve to resolve the issue. And on top of all that we were given a year of free roadside Assistance with our purchase. My wife and I dealt with Mike. Couldnt be happier with our experience.

I took my car into Pep Boys back on August 29th to the Gastonia NC location even though I live in Rock Hill I was told at the Rock Hill location that the Gastonia location needed the money. Was assured they could fix my car. That Saturday I picked my car up after I was told it was ready and after paying $1789.00 it sounded worse than when I bought it in. My car was still making the same sound. The control arms were to be replaced along with a tune up. I didn’t take my car that day because it wasn’t fixed. I was assured they would get it right and order Infiniti parts. September 18th is when I got my car back STILL making the same sound. I was over it! I took my car to Nissan the next day bc Infiniti was booked to see if they could tell me what’s going on with my car. Paid $141.00 for a diagnostic for them to tell me I had after market parts on my car and that’s the reason why my car was still making the sound. Was told they were Infiniti parts from pep boys! Not to mention pep boys did not screw my skid guard back and it got damaged and Nissan agreed to clamp it back in place. So I called pep boys and was told they were Infiniti parts that it could be my struts. They really didn’t know what was wrong with my car!!! So I took it to Infiniti the following week and or boys paid for the diagnostic bc they didn’t know what was going on and again they told me the same thing Nissan said, it’s due to the after market parts. So Infiniti has fixed my car and I had to pay $2569.00. Pep boys only gave me $802.00 back. But after all the head ache, money, lies and time, I should have been given a full refund! Never again will pep boys touch my car or any other car I purchase in the future! Has been the worse experience I’ve ever had! The time alone I could never get back!

Called for a price. I EMPHASIZED that I wanted the cheapest price I could get. The guy says $600 to which I responded that was too high, he then comes back with a price of $500. At that point I said no and hung up. I dont deal with that kind of B.S. If you know I am looking for the best price and you didnt give it to me the first time then that tells me you are not very honest. I guess I should have told him that was still too much. Maybe I could have gotten the tires for $400 or maybe even $300. Sad thing is $500 was the best price I have found anywhere and would have bought those tires from there, but I wont buy them from Pep Boys now.

I was turned down when I requested a battery replacement after receiving a jump from AAA to make it to their location. They quoted that they could take me as soon as the following morning and that I could leave my car with them overnight, as if that would be feasible. I promptly drove to Advance Auto Parts (thankfully my battery still had a charge from the jump) and was in/out in under 10 minutes.

You can pre-schedule appointments which would make it seem so much more convenient, the only issue with this (mostly the reason why not higher stars) is that you will see your vehicle untouched / unmoved for quite a while after your appointment. There are a lot of fleet vehicles parked out front so I guess this is their main source of business. Im guessing fleet customers expect the vehicles to be left hanging there for days, but as my only vehicle, I need mine before I can leave. I presumed making an appt. at 8am would help me get to work somewhat on time but I was at Pep Boys until 11:30 or so just for 4 tires. I placed an appointment the day before via their website for 4 new tires which showed in stock at this location. After arriving, they only had 3 in stock but offered comparable other brands (all were listed more expensive) at the same price as the tires I had specified in the appointment notes. Honoring the original price is really they only reason why 2 stars instead of 1. I believe if I hadnt specified the tires in the appointment notes at the time I would not have been offered the price match. Previously, I had brakes changed here but the brake pad warning tab broke off an rattled around in the wheels. Had to take it back the next day which was a major inconvenience. Thanks for the price matching but if your time is valuable to you, it seems not highly valued here.

Terrible service. I come in to get my oil changed. I had an appointment. The guy at the service desk clearly didn’t want to help me. I have a pre-paid maintenance plan with pep boys that I paid a lot of money for when I bought my car. He said he had to call, but he couldn’t reach them until Monday. Which is a lie and he never even tried to call. I’ve gotten my oil changed on a Saturday with my plan no problem. Bottom line is the man was very rude, grumpy, and shouldn’t be dealing with customers.

Came to the location right at 7:15 and waited to see if I could be fit in as a walk in for a simple full synthetic oil change and the associate Katelyn told me that I would have to drop my car off for hours in order for it to be service. Mind you, no other customer was there but me. I understand appointments, but as a walk in, I definitely feel as if I could have been squeezed into the system for just that service as my dad has done it several times before.

Called here because we are from out of town. Price was quoted to me that seemed reasonable and was told it would take about 2 hours to get the work done. Simple mount 2 tires, balance them and a front end alignment. Drove 40 miles to get here and was again told car would be done in 2 hours. Seemed reasonable enough. 2.5 hours later car is STILL sitting where I parked it and hasnt been touched!!!! When I asked for my keys to leave, the manager came out and said they were pulling it in right now and it would be done in 45 minutes. THAT didnt happen either!!!! When we FINALLY got the car back, 4 hours later, the bill was almost double the quote!!!! DONT EVER COME HERE!!!! Complete RIP off and WASTE OF A PERFECTLY GOOD DAY!!!!

New Manager, new experience. I got my brakes done about 6 months ago and they were starting to squeak and vibrate in steering. Went back last week to get them checked and other things. I noticed that there was a NEW Store Manager named Aaron who is doing a great job with staff. He demonstrated great customer service skills alone with technician Matt. I came to the location asking to get a simple oil change at 11am 10-8-19. The associate told me that I would have to drop my car off for service or schedule a appointment. no thank you. there was only one other customer there at the time. I understand appointments, I definitely feel as if I could have had a simple oil change for that day. This is the second time i have come to try to get a oil change at this location. I only came back to try and give PepBoys at Gastonia a second chance since you are close to my house. If you are short workers hire somebody. you are a business not a private club get it together. scheduled oil change are you kidding.To the Owner please do not send me a weak response. Went for the buy two get two free on tires. My wife made the appointment online and seen what the price was but didnt pay online. Once I arrived at the store, the service advisor quoted me a price approximately $100 more than online. Finally got it all straightened out and paid what I should have. My advice is to find whatever you are wanting to purchase and pay for it online and print the receipt so there is no issue with the price. Other than that, it was a satisfactory experience- not exceptional but not terrible either.

Pep Boys is out of Purolator and Mobil 1 oil filters. Its been a month and they still havent restocked the filters ! I will not use them anymore because of this. I dont want a cheap oil filter replacement ! I wonder what kind of oil they put in it ! I was looking for Mobil 1 full synthetic ?

Store is better than service center, wait times are excessively long. Simply things take a few hours to complete. Brought a.c. service here and they changed the wrong port. I had to tell them which port they had to change and they still did it wrong. Tried to charge for wrong service and for new fixes, not today sir... I got it all for free. I fight for my rights to great customer service. This place is, was and always will be bad service.Front desk store center, you are great!!! Dont stop doing the best you can do.

I kept going back to PepBoys because I thought they had great customer service, but Im finally done. After almost a year of issues my last experience has finally done me in and convinced me to never return. Long story short, they found a way to botch a repair job that took two days longer than previously quoted (they had the parts in stock), forgot to put the air filter back in my car before allowing me to take it off the lot (why it was even removed, I dont know), and now want to charge over $250 to fix the previously-mentioned botched job, which another more reputable service provider has offered to do for half that price.Im tired of getting my car back in worse condition than I left it. Ill miss seeing a couple of the awesome managers there, but I need to keep my car on the road more than I need a polite conversation.

I went to have tires balanced they said they didnt need to be balanced that the inner tire rod and ball joint needed replaced so I go buy the parts and take my car to the car shop and it was not the inner tire rod it is the outer tire rod. Obviously they dont know what they are looking at. Then quoted me almost 800.00 to fix both parts and my local car shop is only charging me 100.00. They are rip offs. I called them and told them what they done and they asked what you want us to do. Well I want reimbursement for the difference I have to pay for the outer rod. They didnt care at all about their mistake. Will never be back. Oh yeah I had an appt for 3:00 and it was after 4 before they even touched my car

Went to get my AC fixed and they told me it would be $237 and 1 hr wait time.. waited 3 hrs and they told me it was my compressor and it was going to cost me $1200! So I left there paying $50 for them to check it and went and got a second opinion! Thank God I did! Wasnt my compressor at all! It was a fan.. my compressor is working great! Cost me $180 and my AC is working great! So I would never tell even my worst enemy to go here for any reason! Terrible service!

Was told to come back at 2:00 and did not need an appointment. Came back at 2:00 and they were full for the day. I agreed to leave my car overnight. He said come back at 10:30 tomorrow and youre ready to go. I came back at 10:30 and my car was yet to even be looked at. Absolutely the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Whats more is they dont seem to care as everyone else while Ive waited has had similar disatisfaction. What a shame.

4 brand new tires last week that cost more than quoted. They could not explain why exactly and when pushed gave a senior discount because my father in law was standing there.This weekend we got a screw in the tire. My wife pulled in with 3 kids in the car 5 hours before closing and was told she could leave the car for the rest of the day but no promises they would have time to plug it.We spent $650 there days prior and they wont plug a tire. Nice service. Never ever going back.

Very dissatisfied with the experience. Having a scheduled appointment time was no advantage. I waited over an hour to simply have a car battery put in. I ended up leaving with the battery. So bottom line ...after scheduling time off work to handle this, the end result is I still have to get the battery installed. Any money I saved by ordering the battery online was by far offset by the negative outcome. Wont make this mistake again.

I recently visited this location and the mechanic Jon Scott assisted me. He explained everything that he was going to do to solve the issues, then took me inside and got me settled. Before I knew it he was done and told me if I had any issues to call. To make this short, he is an awesome employee who goes above and beyond and definitely deserves the recognition. Appointment for 9:00am for four new tires and alignment. I was told it would take about an hour and a half. I came back to check on my car twice to see if it was ready. They forgot to do the alignment and asked that I bring it back another day. I of course said no. It has been 5 hours since I dropped my car off and it is still not finished. This is my first time coming here and I will never be back. I would not recommend this place!

Great place to find what youre looking for, and if the gals at the front desk can save you a buck, they will! More selection on parts than other typical auto parts stores, and even those hard to find things. Example: fold out tow mirrors that were power and heated for my 02 Dodge Ram. Really hard to find, but they did it, and about $50 less than OReillys! Thanks Gina!Cant comment on their shop, cause I have never used them. But 2 thumbs up on the rest!

I had an emergency on a Sunday morning with a tire that had a slow leak and they worked me in right away and when I mentioned I was going out of town the end of the week they also checked my other 3 tires without my asking to make sure they were ok! I will definitely go back to this location again! Very kind and courteous employees working at this location.

Lots of stuff and they do car repair. But beware on repair work. They tire up stuff on two of my vehicles so they could fix it. I took it home and had it refixed the right way by a trusted mechanic. But they have many accessories that moat auto stores dont have. But they need more staff inside.

Went in today to look for some cleaning supplies for my vehicles. As I looked a man answered the phone behind me. The phone call was a customer asking about something that had been ordered. The conversation went something like this. Yeah, is how he answered along with telling the customer he had been called about whatever it was he had ordered, while taking down to the customer and telling him they had called him he hung up. After hanging up he was sure to let a female employee know what he told him as if the customer was stupid. He then turned to me and asked if I needed anything, I quickly responded NO Thanks. Could imagine what he said about me as I left. Sad to know this is who runs your stores, I wondered why the parking lot was empty out front.Gastonia Store today around 2:00 pm.

I made an appointment online and they dont really use it. They let people double and triple book at the same appointment. We had a 10 mth old baby and they took my car back 1/1/2 hours after my appt. I WONT BE BACK

Pepboys Gastonia is by far the best auto shop in repair, price, and customer service. I have been a customer of Pepboys for 20yrs and I know I can trust Pepboys to fix my vehicle issues the first time. My most recent experience was by far the best. This location services my company vehicles. I was very impressed that Katelyn was very knowledgeable of our service history and even knew the names of various employees bringing the vans in over the years. John the service manger patiently explained what the issue was and I left knowing that my company van was good to go and staffed and clients would be safe on the road.

I made an appointment for 4pm, arrived and got checked in. At 6 pm my vehicle had not been taken back to the rack. After my vehicle was finally taken back and put on the rack, I noticed the tires that they were getting ready to put on my vehicle were not what I ordered. I asked the lady at the register if those were the tires I ordered and she said she would check. She went to Daniel and asked him, he came over and said that the tires I ordered online were not available and they were going to substitute them out for a more expensive tire at a discounted price, I said that is fine but if you are going to do something like that you should first talk with the customer to make sure it is ok. As I was looking at the tires, I noticed that three of the tires were the same and one was different. I pointed this out to Daniel and he said no they are all the same. He started looking at them and said oh yea this one is different.

If one could give zero stars that would be my rating. Came in on 6/7 for rear brakes and rotors and before i even get home my car sounds worse then before. Literally sounds like something is broke lose and bashing around in my rear tire. Rest assured if any damage has occurred i will file suit

Went for a vehicle inspection and waited for over 3hrs. Then was failed due to a supposed issue with the steering. The woman in front of me was also failed and had to wait a ridiculous amount of time as well. I was skeptical of the diagnosis of my vehicle after they told me that is was gonna cost over 500.00 to fix the issue (never even attempted to show me what the issue was). I told them to drop my vehicle immediately. I took it to a REAL mechanic the next day who inspected my vehicle and the issues that PEPBOY said I had and he simply said report them to the State Inspection Office. They are lying to people at this establishment. BEWARE.

Took my car here for an oil change and to look at the a/c as my car was only blowing hot air. They told me the a/c compressor was bad and two other parts needed replacing totaling $5000! Got a second opinion because that is a steep price even if the compressor was bad (which it wasn’t!). All my car needed was an a/c recharge and refrigerant, and I saved $4900. I feel sorry for the people that actually fall for their schemes.

Called to check to see if they had wheel studs for my vehicle in stock...a simple request right? Evidently not, they pick up the phone and scream hold please left me on hold for 9 minutes - when they finally picked up they asked the particulars of my vehicle and said they were going to go check the shelf see if they have it. 17 minutes later they still havent come back to the phone clearly they really dont care about customers or doing any sort of business wasted well over 25 minutes on the phone and got no answers I cant imagine theyd be any better in person.*Since Pep Boys was so prompt with their response I decided to devote a little more time and emailed them the requested information* here is what I sent, I will update if I hear back from them.Im not sure how much additional information I can give you about the interaction. The phone call took place yesterday 5/6/19 from 9:05am through 9:32am with the Gastonia store. Ironically I was trying to avoid spending a half hour driving to the store to check on the parts only to find out you didnt have it in stock.For me what it boils down to is that its was annoying and a frustrating waste of time but not the end of the world, however in Gastonia we are fortunate to have three other auto parts chain stores within a 1 mile radius (as well as the dealership) why even chance exposing yourself to needless frustration when there are other options. After I left my review I scrolled through some other reviews and my experience was not isolated or an anomaly, it seems that you have a serious customer service or management problem at the Gastonia store. Quality of service has went down since I began taking my car in. My work schedule only allows me to have work done on weekends without missing time from work. In the past year or so, service managers have changed 3 times. That in and of itself should speak volumes. Sadly, I had to suffer through 4 fixes only for the problem to remain. Each time, the same part was replaced and warranted out. Even the last time when the part was ordered from Dodge/Chrysler. After spending every weekend at the location for a month, I was apprised that the issue was out of scope for them and I would need to visit a certified repairman at my own cost. This was even after I had contacted corporate and enlisted their aide. And to top it off, after paying over $400 for a 100K mile check-up, there is a new squeak that wasnt there before, and my Check Engine light just came on. I dont think I need to say I will not trust this store to even put air in my tire from now on.

I am done wasting my time at this pitiful excuse of at store/shop. I scheduled my truck to have 4 tires installed and alignment done on them on 3/3/19. I had an appointment for 9am. Arrived on time. They were busy with 3 other vehicles already so they told me I would have to wait about an hour. I was ok with this. So I waited. After 2 hours I checked to see if they had started on it. It was still parked outside where I parked it! I asked them how much longer it would be to get started on my truck. They told me they don’t really know. They had 2 people walking around in the shop not doing much of anything. I had to be at work at 1pm so I told the person working the counter that I would have to reschedule. They had an appointment for today, 3/4/19 at 7pm. That worked for me. So I arrived today about 20 minutes early. When I arrived, it was the same situation as the day before. I was waiting for at least 30 minutes before they finally decided to get my truck in the shop. 45 minutes later they came and got me and said everything was ready to go. I asked if they did the alignment and they told me they couldn’t do it tonight because they had to close up for the day. They asked if I wanted to reschedule to have an alignment done. I refused because I will never step foot back in that store ever again. I will take it somewhere else for the alignment.This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere I have been to in my life. If it gets that busy at this “shop”, maybe they shouldn’t schedule so many people for the same exact time. And possibly hire more people so that they can have better and faster service? The manager asked me yesterday if I knew anyone that needed a job because they were so behind. That’s probably not something to be said to a customer. Regardless, I have had enough of this place. Their tires may be cheaper and have great deals, but their lack of service and care for the customer is more than enough reason to spend a little extra elsewhere.Bottom line: If you are considering purchasing tires or really anything else here, save your money and go elsewhere. You will be treated much better at just about any of their competitors
