Take your car ANY other place. My dads cooling fans were out, engine was overheating...he took his car in to get an estimate and they quoted him $900!! The parts online were less than $200 and we had a mechanic friend replace the fans, took less than an hour, he charged $50. This place was going to charge $700 for labor?? Rip off!!On top of that, they charged $120 for a diagnostic fee...are you kidding me?? Just to look at the car? Insane. We will never be back.This place will get their money one way or another. Not worth your time or energy. Take your car somewhere else.

Seems to inspect a boat trailer they want me to leave it with the vehicle attached to it that way I went to progressive auto got it done with no hassle

I went in to get my car checked out. I think my clutch was going in my car. Chuck the manager was so friendly and always kept me in the loop with my car and what was going on. My car died in VA driving north from vacation. We were stranded. Called A&J a few minutes before they opened on a Monday morning. Had the car towed there. They could have told me anything, but it was just a broken serpentine belt. They took me right in, ordered the belt, replaced the belt, recharged the battery and thoroughly checked the vehicle. Was back on the road in a few hours. Good prices, good service...Thanks, guys!

I took my truck to shop on a Thursday to get something fixed, got it back Friday. When I got my truck back they had the a.c blowing high and left it on when they cut my truck off so when i got it in first thing high hot air was coming out. Then when i got home and went to leave again my alarm went off when I unlocked and opened door & I didnt think anything about it but now IT KEEPS going off everytime i unlock my truck and open it. I dont know what they did to it but they will be contacted this Monday 31st!...

These guys always do a great job, inspections and emissions.

I took my old Ford F-250 to have the alignment done. When they went to pull it into the shop the starter solenoid stuck (common ground issue with older Ford’s). The mechanic didn’t know what to do and let to turn until starter was smoking. Every real mechanic knows that when this happens you have to tap the solenoid located on the fender to get it to release. Then they called me saying I needed a new starter and solenoid. I told them I would come down and put a new one myself which they gave me no complaint over me doing that. I came by and put the new starter and solenoid in while the truck was in their parking lot which took about 15 minutes. While I was doing that, the own came out and started cursing at me telling me to get my truck out of his lot and he was calling a tow truck. I would never go back to the shop again. They do not know what they are doing and they are rude if you don’t let them fix your vehicle after they break it. By the way, the ground wire was loss and that is why the solenoid stuck.

Came in based on the good reviews I saw for what I expected would be a big, expensive repair, and not only were they all super friendly and understanding, but they fixed my car in record time and now it works great. Cheaper than I expected and I didnt get that feeling that they were trying to take advantage of my since Im a woman by bumping up prices. Thanks, guys.

These guys are honest and fast. Been bringing all the familys cars here (6 of them) for about 2 years. Not the cheapest shop in town, but the knowledge and honestly pays off in the long run. They always shoot me straight and I trust them and their work.

They are the best in town! The have all the answers and all the right equipment in stock to take care of any type of problem for any type of car. You cant beat their prices and they make you feel like family! Love the location and so do many of my friends and family!

I am a mechanic by trade. I have been coming here since moving to FBurg. All of my interactions are pleasant. My wife doesnt even mind going in. I have observed the way they deal with less knowledgable customers and am impressed. I feel they are honest, up-front, and fair. I have paid for them to do jobs that I could do and I couldnt have saved enough to make it worth it. You should at least give them a chance.

A friend neighborhood auto shop. We had issues with our brake rotors and they were able to quickly diagnose the issue and replace the rotors. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and gave me a ride home when I dropped my car off.

I got a clutch/timing belt/other work done here recently. The work was great, and they were very patient with me when I thought there was something wrong with the clutch, because I wasnt used to the new one. The prices are also very fair and their hourly rate is ~$40/hour less than nearby shops.

I’m a little disappointed in the service here. I brought our family van in for a second opinion and ended up spending more than I originally would have. I bought four tires and had the O2 sensor repaired and it cost almost $1400. Their military discount only applies to the the first $50. That’s pretty weak. The service was good but they should have given me a better deal since I gave them by business instead of another shop. Also, I sent several customers there. Won’t be going back.

They treat your car like it is their car. They dont upsell repairs and try to manipulate you into getting things done that you dont need.

Dishonest owner. Does work without permission when you have explicitly told them call before you do anything. ALSO charges a ridiculous rate for simple things that take less than a minute. Im sorry 100 bucks for something that takes 30 seconds is not ok. Literally 30 seconds. Not an exaggeration. Then refuses to take the payments listed on the door and insists on cash if you argue the price. F*** this place.

Front Staff is ALWAYS welcoming and takes great care of us. We take our vehicles in for routine maintenance all the time and NEVER have been pushed to get additional work done that was not needed. Theyre quick when doing inspections; however, theyre pricey when it comes to repairs. My daughter went in for an inspection and was advised that she needed $1100 for breaks and windshield wipers🤔

When my car broke down I had it towed to A&J. It was an hour before they closed (and on July 3rd), but they still took the time to diagnose the problem (snapped axle), and had two mechanics work on it so they could get it fixed that day.The end result- 2 hours after being stranded on the road, A&J had me back on my way.Excellent service!

Beware - I suspect foul play from A&J automotive. If my experience is like others, I would ask to confirm their findings prior to it leaving the repair bay.I do have a basic understanding of mechanic work, being raised around DIYers for most of my formative years and took auto shop class in highschool, and even do some light mechanic work on my own vehicle from time to time just to save cash, as most shop rates are between $95-$125/hr. That said, I know when someone is trying to slight me. I digress.Roughly two weeks ago, I took my vehicle to A&J Automotive for va state inspections and they failed it under exhaust (which I agree with, which has been addressed) and a bad right corner light. I found this odd, as I had replaced both left and right rear lights at the same time (they are led bulbs as opposed to the OEM incandescents, which typically have much longer lifespans unless either the circuit board hosting the LEDs or the LEDs themselves are cheaply-produced - of which these werent, and were not cheap on account of it) less than a year ago. I declined both services and had them fail the vehicle so I could get these issues addressed when I had the money. Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical about the turn signal light and so I verified functionlaity myself.The result: both bulbs were perfectly fine.So, I got to thinking - there are only four possible reasons why they would habe failed the turn signal lights:1) The ambient lighting conditions in the repair bay were brighter than the bulbs themselves - which doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me considering that only one bulb, not both bulbs, were counted as a failing condition.2) Bad wiring running to the tail lights - if this were the case, then why did it present itself only during the time of the inspection and no other time? A police officer would have pulled me over and informed me of faulty equipment as Ive not only crossed paths with multiple cops, but many have driven directly behind me with no recourse, even at night. I get home and found both lights were working just fine.3) human error (The inspection official was not paying attention) - however, this is supposed to be a state-certified inspection specialist which handles these types of issues and can see when things are wrong. Why did this guy miss it when another one passed it?4) false diagnostics and unneeded repairs claimed as necessary - Ive heard about this happening before, and the others described above make little sense when logic is applied.Now, its not like it was an expensive repair, and the person servicing the front counter seemed nonchalant about the issue, but what I take issue with is the principal matter of potential dishonesty, and on that, I cannot trust returning there.
