I love this store for the quality of the furniture but most of all for the quality of employees. The last 10-12 months have been a challenge, but Matter Brothers has risen to it. I cannot say enough about Cynthia, she is an absolute jewel. She was so patient with me and took almost as much satisfaction as myself when furniture was available. Emily, I still owe you a pack of antibacterial wipes for allowing customers to kick you out of your desk so we could measure! Delivery was unbelievable - they took better care of that than any other company I have ever had. White glove treatment the entire time, they went the extra mile to ensure nothing was harmed. My husband and I shopped at the Naples, Fl store. We were looking for an upholstered king size headboard. Our sales person, Lisa, showed us the display. We picked one and asked where it was made as we want to support made in USA businesses. Lisa told us is is made to order in North Carolina. The cost was $ 2,000. We decided to buy it although we knew that we could find similar products on Wayfair for half the cost but made overseas. Again, our goal is to support businesses in the USA. The head board was delivered today and the first thing I saw was a stamp on the headboard that read Made in Viet Nam. I waited for the store to open and called, asking for the store manager. I told him that the salesperson informed us that the headboard was made in the USA but in fact it was made in Viet Nam. I said we were deceived and tricked into buying this headboard. His only response was that everything is made overseas. I will never again visit this store or any other Matter Brothers stores.

My mother had purchased a recliner along with other furniture in the past that was reasonably priced so I helped my mom who has compound fractures in her lower vertebrae look for an adjustable bed & a mattress to go along. I noticed the staff gravitated towards the older customers ignoring me. Figured they were busy so my mom called twice to get pricing. 1st time she was bounced around different associates & hung up on. 2nd time the lady bemoaned that in order for her to get a price she would have to walk all the way to the back computer to find out. Could have been handled better. Especially the rude repeated response of”I’m busy with customers now.” Sheesh.
Several years ago I purchased some furniture and my expectations were exceeded.I recently returned to SW Florida and purchased a new home. In part based on my past experience, we again visited Matter Brothers in Fort Myers, and they have shattered any positive opinions I had from the past.Sales person didnt have to do anything exceptional because my wife knew exactly what she wanted with the item numbers, prices, color absolutly everything. Yet the paperwork and ordering did not go as expected.The delivery, which turned into deliveries were a disaster and we are still waiting. Despite being told we would receive items as they came or had the option of waiting till everything was in there would be one delivery charge.My wife recieved a call that the order was partially in and a delivery date was set for it. We agreed to take it right away but there was a delay which was no big deal, so we waited a short time as requested.Another large item came in some time later so we agreed to take it right away, which was scheduled. Then we were told that there would be an additional delivery charge because we accepted the first part of the delivery which was actually at their request.We were told the salesperson made a mistake saying there was only one charge. We challanged that, and were shown to be correct. But were then told that the policy changed and they were going to charge us another delivery fee or we could wait till the rest of the order came in. So we agreed to wait.Then we were told the rest of the items, which were already late would be delayed for up to 8 weeks. This was very different from what we had agreed to, but we said we would still wait because we refused to pay an additional delivery charge.We then were notified that we would have to take delivery of the item that was in because they couldnt hold it but offered to waive the delivery chage which we werent supposed to have in the first place.The delivery was made with the piece of furniture being damaged. Not a scratch, small tear, or loose piece but smashed on the top.My wife refused to accept the item and notified the salesperson. Apparently it is incumbent on the customer to show the item was damaged and pictures would help, which my wife happened to have.They deliver broken furniture and rather than apologize and speak with the delivery people, task the paying customer who had to take a day off with providing the necessary documentation.We are in June now and have less than half our order which is completely past the original delivery date which is extended to August now.After receiving the required deposit the rules changed on how payment was goingto be made. Instead of paying the final payment when an item comes in and can be delivered, they demand that ALL items are to be paid in full, once 1 item is delivered. WHAT? Contrary to what we were told when we placed the order.We paid in full, more delays, furnitre damaged, delivery not within the window given, different excuses depending on who answers the phone. Awful customer service, no goodwill for multiple mistakes, not even a phone call or an apology for any of it.Moving into a new home is stressful enough without the inconvenience and mistruths from IT DOESNT MATTER TO US BROTHERS.What a difference a few years makes.
Was promised my furniture by a certain date, not only was my order delayed i was not told till the day of delivery that it wasn’t going to come so i had taken off work. They then told me a new ETA for the furniture which is still not accurate and delayed again.I was told by the manger I’d receive an update regardless if it was good news or bad and he never called to update me .Very very unprofessional i expected more from a high end furniture store.A heads up .. if they tell you they promise your furniture by a certain date expect heavy delays and lack of response from there management team.Very very disappointed and will not be shopping there again .

I just purchased a Southern Motion 8 piece sectional and a zero gravity reclining chair from Matter Brothers Furniture in Fort Myers. The price was fantastic and the sales associate was the best. Cynthia Sparks was my sales associate and I highly recommend asking for her. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure that I got exactly what I wanted and that it would work for my house. She even pulled up the builders house plans on her computer so the measurements were right. Hands down, this was a phenomenal shopping experience!
Good service at a reasonable price
The furniture is nice and they have a great selection but I would absolutely not recommend shopping there! I was extremely displeased with Matter Brotherss customer service. I tried to return a table and it took weeks to get ahold of anyone. They would not return my calls and kept saying that they were too busy to talk to me when I called. Finally after I threatened to call the owner the salesperson eventually got back to me but they made the whole process very difficult and inconvenient.Against my better judgment I later returned to the store and bought a sofa sleeper, two rather expensive chairs and four tables. After about one year the sofa sleeper is completely faded and the cushions have lost a lot of their shape. The discoloration is so bad that its rendered the couch pretty much unusable. When I contacted Matter Brothers they said there was nothing they could do to help me. Its extremely frustrating to have spent that much money on a product that is such poor quality that after a year Im unable to use it and to have the company offer no recourse.
I shopped at Matter Brothers to furnish a whole house. It was a great experience. Ann was the best consultant for me. Her design background was such a plus. She is super knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic, and willing to offer any help whenever needed. I definitely recommend Matter Brothers and when you step through the door of their Fort Myers store ask to work with Ann R!!

Our experience with Matter Brothers, and with Ann Rutzel, our salesperson, was outstanding. I have an elderly mother, who moved into a condo in Ft. Myers, and needed furniture for the entire space. We did not know where to begin, and we walked into Mather Brothers, and met Ann. She was extremely helpful, and knowledgeable, and professional. She has great instincts and knows how to work with clients to pick up on the best style, color, and furniture that will work best for them and their space. She also keeps within a budget, and works to find just the right piece. Also, the company only charged once for delivery, and has made multiple deliveries for us. They also stand behind their products, and come back to either fix, or pick up and return anything you are not happy with.
Staff and service are great. We are able to look around freely without being pressured. We were looking for a wall decor in our dining room. We found what we liked but we didn’t make a decision right away. Our sales rep was Melissa and she didn’t pressure us to buy right three and then. We went back after a week and bought the mirror however. We believed that the mirror was reasonably priced at its sale price. I highly recommend Melissa. She’s knowledgeable and personable.
Very disappointed. Furniture took twice as long to receive than date provided. I could understand that due to COVID but the disappointing part was I was not contacted with new dates, I had to place calls to get information. The pillows for the couch still haven’t arrived after 4 months. When I called to check on the delivery I was informed my order was closed and after they researched it they realized the pillows were lost. Again the disappointing issue is it took me several calls to find out they were lost. No customer service after they are paid!
We ordered 2 sofas and bedroom furniture. The sofas arrived a month later than promised. There were noFollow up calls from the sales person—DJ— and we had to push the customer staff to follow up with theManufacture to get any idea of a delivery time. Whenwe called to get a date on delivery of the bedroom furniture we found out that it had arrived the week before again with no call from them. We arranged a delivery date for Tuesday then this morning they called to say that since the sofa had arrived they were going to hold delivery for all items till Thursday. I told them we had already set up a pick up of the old furniture for Tuesday but they were unwilling to change their delivery to accommodate our schedule.Very poor customer service and we will NEVER buyfrom them again!

Great selection of furniture, but very poor customer service. Ordered a chair in August 2019.. as of March 2020 still do not have it. Was double charged at purchase time and original delivery time, chair arrived with a hole in the armrest, sent techs, and took the chair back 3x to fix - looked like my 6yr old sewed it together. Finally agreed to replace the entire chair after 5 months of going back and forth.. will update review if I ever receive the chair! Will not use them again due to service standards.

I will never buy furniture from another store again. I purchased multiple pieces of furniture from this store for my new home 6 months ago. Three of the couches are a performance fabric and within this 6 months I have noticed Piling of the fabric and the back cushions on one couch started to droop. I made a call to customer service and they sent Gary out to take a look. He shaved down the piling and explained that it will need to be done again since they are performance fabrics but that once it is done a few times the fabric will look amazing for years. He also ordered filling for my cushions and will be coming back out to shave the piling again for me and fill the cushions so they dont droop. He was kind, timely, and efficient. Also, I failed to buy the warranty simply because I forgot. I was going to call and have it added before delivery but instead I had my baby come early. So, this was the customer service WITHOUT a warranty! I have been buying furniture for years with warranty from other companies that didnt even provide these services. Instead they told me it was a manufacture error and they wouldnt cover it or (my personal fav) that the warranty only covered a sharpie stain OR damage due to a pet but not when a pet eats a sharpie on the couch. I will never shop elsewhere again! Im so pleased with this store I recommend it to everyone and now, I will have even more confidence in doing so! Thank you Matter Brothers!

Terrible customer service. Recliner broke shortly after purchase. Store refused to replace Pd $1500 was good quality on out side. Been waiting a month for repair.
We ended up spending over $34000 with Matter Brothers, but we wont do business with these guys ever again. The salesman was great. After that it was extremely disappointing. The expensive stuff is good quality, but the normal small pieces (end tables, lamps, etc) are just things that you can get anywhere, with quality standards. (For those of you from VA, think of a Florida version of Haynes.)One delivery guy in particular was extremely rude to my wife, to the extent that she felt threatened and told him to just leave the furniture and get out of our house. He still works there.It took several rounds of purchases and returns to finally get what we ordered. We returned a media stand several weeks ago and Matter Brothers has yet to refund the $777 to my account. When I asked our account manager about this she said that theyd given us enough, so it all evens out. Sorry, if your salesman gives us something gratis to grease the sale, you take that up with him.Again very disappointing. If you must use these guys, dont pay cash; take the entire time to pay. Once they have their money they dont return your calls.
This is absolutely absolutely the worst furniture store that we ever ever endure, !!!My husband and I went to the store and ordered 2 twin beds for our Grandchildren who were visiting us We purchased them on Dec 4 ..As of now Jan28th we finally got the headboards but with out the frames. What kind of furniture store takes so long to receive there furniture and along with no frames .?????Not to mention they cash our check the next day,,,,Not to mention our Grandchildren had to stay at a hotel because we didn’t have the sleeping accommodations,Moving here from Long Island a month ago we need these beds Even when I spoke to Richard supposedly the manager I got no professional satisfaction!,,,He passed the ball to someone else,,,,,As of todayJan 30 th I am with 2 headboards and one bed frame !!!! Yesterday they brought one twin frame and one Queen, !,,,,!!Yes as of today Jan 30 we wait hoping this time they get it right !,!!........I would run run from this store no matter how good of a price you think you are getting We will be shopping at Norris furniture from now on! My husband and I were out shopping for a leather sofa and loveseat. We had been to several stores in the area and Matter Bros was one of our stops. I was approached immediately by an old saleswoman, who thought she looked young obviously. She was snooty from the second she approached. I inquired whether the store carried leather. Her reply was many. She is right us over to a room with several leather sofas and showed us one which I did not care for. It was very bulky looking to me immediately. So I said I really was looking for something with sleeker lines. She turned to show us something else but not before she said under her breath, my husband, heard her. You want too much.WHAT...HOW DARE SHE??? This woman needs to be fired.We left the store and bought just what we were looking for at Baers. And by the way the salesman there, Troy was exceptional. He did not follow us around. No high pressure sales, yet very informantative. He even waived delivery fee and we had the products in less than a week.

After shopping at about 6 other stores, Baers-too expensive, Ashley-quality not too my liking, we found Matter Brothers and purchased our living room and bedroom furniture. Salesperson Lisa provided excellent assistance.

We tried to use them once more but failed to complete the transaction. Went in looking for Buffet and Dinette. Not able to find a dinette but was able to find buffet. They are very heavy in coastal living decor, sort of dated but probably due to transient nature of our state. After 28 years we are over washed out wood and Tommy Bahama. Not a lot of contemporary offerings. Anyway, bought buffet, received a printout saying delivery about ten days later. By the date of delivery, never got any calls or follow up from sales person or CRM system. My wife called and they said not in yet, and they did not know when. We asked sales person to call and find out, when I asked about any sort of follow up system (CRM), she said she should not be expected to know to follow up because she has thousands of clients. We should have stopped there but decided maybe we were being unreasonable to think they had a CRM system. After calling and asking a couple times, we finally were told it would be 4-6 weeks later. We asked for a refund which we promptly got, never got a receipt that we requested but money did get to us. We ventured down the street to Baers, found both things we needed on a Sunday at 4:30 in afternoon, was greeted with enthusiasm and $4000 later received a delivery date of the following Thursday. Sales person called to follow up and thanked us. Mr. Matter had previously asked us to return so we did. I am not upset at him, just sorry that a local business owner has a staff of indifference and perhaps he does not have the enthusiasm to fix his problem. The difference in the two experiences was night and day. This was our experience, factual but disappointing.
