The team at Fairfax Volvo were an absolute joy to deal with. Gina, Toni and Timothy were very attentive and responsive to our needs. They allowed us to test drive several vehicles and provided us with a wealth of information without pressuring us to buy a car, which was quite refreshing. Some reviewers complain that they felt ignored at this dealership. That was certainly not my experience. I can only speculate that those reviewers are accustomed to being attacked by a school of sharks immediately upon entering a dealership. Id rather be left alone to shop. Im a big boy; I know how to get the attention of a salesperson when needed. The deal they offered on our new, 2021 XC-60 Inscription was unbeatable! I know because I shopped around prior to going to Fairfax Volvo. The proverbial icing on the cake is that our new Volvo is absolutely gorgeous! I cant say enough good things about the team at Fairfax Volvo. If youre in the market for a new car, please make Fairfax Volvo your destination of choice.

Save yourself the time and trouble of giving this location a chance.I knew the moment I walked in, I was not genuinely seen as a prospective buyer to these people, and thats completely fine! However, to feel unwelcome and like a burden at a dealership was an odd experience, and Toni Jackson and Timothy Wanamaker truly made no effort. My experience with the people here was dull and unpleasant and their professionalism was questionable.The way they communicated (or didnt, at all), the way they ignored customers walking in (regardless of whether they had an appointment or not), and the way they genuinely just did not care: it all ultimately gave me relief that my very first vehicle was not from this dealership. It just wasnt worth it.Dont bother making appointments either. Or do. Just expect to be seen 30 minutes to an hour after the appointed time, with no explanation and other salespeople ignoring the waiting customers.
The absolute worst customer service I’ve had from any business in my entire life. I’ve been trying to get a warranty repair on my car for almost two years and the service center doesn’t answer the phone, doesn’t call me back, just ignores me, entirely. A few months ago I thought there would be improvement when they brought in a new general manager, but after the service center said they would order my parts, I haven’t heard from them. Calling the service center just ends up in dropped calls. Terrible.

My consultants, Yosam and Warren, were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I even came back with a question, and they were more than willing to spend MORE time with me. Dealer has a sign allowing fully vaccinated people to enter without a mask but then i had a employee name DJ coming to me in a very disrespectful and rude way to try to kick me out of the waiting room for not wearing a mask. Im fully vaccinated and the sign on their own door is giving me permission to do so.
Weird experience. It seems if youre looking at any other car on this lot besides a Volvo, the staff know virtually nothing about it. I had to speak to the Sales Manager for any straight answers about the used VW Golf I was looking at.

Fairfax Volvo was a great choice when we decided to purchase our XC60. We spent some time going over which car we wanted to upgrade to and decided to check out the XC60. We walked in and were assigned to Alyssa who was absolutely wonderful! She was so helpful, knowledgeable and not at all pushy. She helped us drive both the T5 and the T6 so we could decide which would be better for us and she even helped us locate my specific color combination. Since the car that we wanted was still in transit from Sweden, we had to wait a little bit but it was well worth the wait. The car is amazing! We were even able to easily transfer my old plates to the new car with the help of the sales manager Tim, who was also extremely helpful. Thank you to Fairfax Volvo for giving us one of the best dealership experiences!! We look forward to working with you guys in the future.

My Volvo was dropped off over the weekend due to a check engine light and engine sound. I received a text on Monday morning that I could talk with them via text or phone. Multiple phone calls were never answered. Multiple texts were never answered. Finally got ahold of someone and was told I would be called back by 2. No call. Texts and calls were not answered. I finally just let the phone ring for 5 minutes while I sat at work and a cashier answered. It was 4:45 pm. Everyone had left for the day in the service department. I am extremely disappointed in this service.
This Volvo advertises cars on their website that are actually not for sale. When I asked the salesman about this they said too bad it’s what Volvo does. I find it deceptive and highly questionable business practice to post vehicles at low prices on the website that are actually not being sold. I would not buy a car from these people.
Worked with Toni via email to determine price on XC90 and then Yosam at the dealership. Reached agreed on price ahead of time. When I got to dealership experience was quick since they had done a lot of the preparation ahead of time. Was in and out of finance in 30 minutes with no undue sales pressure.Yosam had car detailed and ready to go as soon as I was out of finance and did a good job explaining the features of car quickly.It may matter less and less as vaccine rolls out but this dealership was the only one I visited where everyone wore masks and wore them correctly.
From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our sales rep, Wayne, came in on his day off just to meet with me, and he provided a very thorough walk through for the vehicle, answering all of my questions. He also took the time to show me most of the inventory for that vehicle, to make sure that I was getting the exact vehicle, color, and package that I wanted. The sale manager was friendly and took the time to discuss the terms and pricing, again answering my questions so that I felt comfortable. It was a great day with minimum pressure. I would highly recommend for anyone interested in looking and for serious buyers!
This dealership is my worst experience of purchasing a car. The salesperson was lack of general knowledge in volvo cars. The person was very inefficient. The way they handled the business wasted my time. Even the manager wasn’t helpful. Don’t waste your time here.
Part 2: EVERYTHING YOU DO AND SAY WHILE MEETING WITH THE FINANCE PEOPLE IS RECORDED - at least that is what I understood the finance person said when we were going over the new set of documents. I asked why I wasnt told about the recordings during our initial meeting and she said there are signs posted throughout the dealership and that she was not permitted tell me. She said that if I had asked not to be recorded I would have had to sign a waiver stating such. Perhaps this is standard practice and something I should have known. Perhaps I simply misunderstood what she told me - but I dont think so. One party permission of recordings is allowed in Virginia (I think) but I also think the dealership should be transparent about this. Ill know better next time.===============================================Part 1: We purchased an XC40 R-design and we love it. This is our first SUV and I cannot say enough good things about it. Great looking, comfortable ride, roomy, features galore ...I give a five star rating to Tim Wanamaker, Toni Jackson and six stars to Yosam Ogbaghiorghis. We conducted 95% of the negotiations on line. When my wife and I got to the dealership, we had a few questions that were expertly addressed; after that, the final negotiations only took a few minutes. Tim, Toni and Yosam were extremely easy to work with and made their portions of the experience a totally positive one for us. We worked mostly with Yosam, who is not only an outstanding customer focused individual and overall nice person, but she knows all of the bells and whistles on the XC40, and there are a lot of them. She very patiently walked through the settings, options, etc.I give the finance department less than five stars. As has been my experience with other dealerships, the finance portion of the deal took way longer than it should have (lots of add-on options that took a long time to explain/discuss). My real issue with the finance department was that I called a few days after we purchased the car and asked what I thought was a relatively simple question regarding the after- sell purchasing of one of the options: I left two phone messages, sent one email and had one direct conversation with the finance representative and after almost two weeks I still dont have an answer.Suggestion to Volvo: Volvos have a wide range of features and the hard copy owners manual is not very helpful. I did find that the online users manual was much better as it provides more information on the features of the vehicle and it is searchable. However, it is a bit annoying to have to sit in my car (or at your computer) to search for answers about your cars features. A better owners manual would certainly help; my wife drives a Mini and it also has a bunch of features. In addition to their operators manual, Mini provides a quick reference guide, highlighting the most popular/used features and how to use them. The quick reference is a big help.
I must say this was unfortunately my worst car buying experience with a dealership. My wife and I purchased an XC90 and our first Volvo and was very disappointed in the total experience. We took a half day at work to complete the purchase (a 10am appt) only to show up and wait and hour to find out the entire finance team was gone until the afternoon. Thankfully they delivered it the next day after everything was figured out but honestly the stress of the first 2 days going back and forth to the dealership was a horrible experience. I really thought this experience would be similar to the BMW and Audi dealerships I have dealt with in the past but honestly it just felt like a quick transaction and that I wasn’t worth their time. Pretty bummed out all things considered, the car is awesome though so that’s the silver lining.
Wayne and Toni our sales team were great. The XC 40 sells itself, but these two both with their time, patience, and honesty made the car buying process seem less of hassle and nightmare. Jeff, with the maintenance department, did an excellent job in explaining vehicle care, features, and overall maintenance. From there, the process almost stopped, almost 4 hours later, we were able to get called back to the finance department. It felt at this point our time was not valued. With simple communication, like yeah this is going to take a while, would you like to come back, maybe you want to go grab some food, anything, but had my spouse not been there I would have walked out.

The people are really nice, and I think they mean well, which is the only reason I gave them 1 stars instead of 1. I paid cash and waited 6 hours with no one else to do the paperwork. The process was horrible and took forever. Now I keep getting spammed for service emails even though I told them I dont live near them and dont need service. Then someone called me! Its as if there is no communication internally whatsoever. The last straw in me writing this and making it public is an email about charging me to send me temporary tags when someone told me they were being overnighted last week. What a horrible experience buying a car - Ill never shop at this location again -- even if the people are nice. The process needs to change rapidly.
Sadly, we have purchased 10 cars at this dealership and other than Wayne Smith, the salesman - we have been very unhappy and treated poorly - especially on our last purchase. We will never purchase another car from this Volvo dealership.

I bought a car on 15 August. When the loan was processed we realized that the loan was for $600 over agreed upon price.The dealership agrees that there was an over payment. I have been back every week to discuss this issue with the dealer. They state they have mailed a reimbursement check. But the check has never come. They have not provided anything in writing and continue to every week deflect the issue with comments about not being the responsible person, and yet do not elevate or put anything in writing and zero follow up.I am a military member and have gotten zero respect and have to returned again and again for this issue, which should have been owned by them and solved, instead of me having to take the time every week to follow up on this. The entire process has been very unprofessional.I am especially disappointed that there is no ownership of the problem to find solutions. If any other business made a mistake like this they would own it, and even perhaps, provide not only a solution but some sort of additional compensation, say a car wash, or free coffee mug, or bonus points... perhaps even an apology for my time and trouble.Unfortunately, it took today with me demanding a resolution before I was able to get them to provide a solution in writing. 2 months later. It should not have had to come to this much of energy and demand from me to find a resolution.As a bonus though: I do love my car, Volvo satisfaction and loyalty is probably why they can get away with such terrible customer service.Please go into this organization with eyes wide that customer service is not well trained and advocate for yourself.

Had a great experience at Fairfax Volvo. They were efficient, easy to work with, and not pushy at all. Travelled from Pennsylvania to see the car we found online. Wayne Smith gave us a thorough review of the car and features. He was very thorough as well as considerate and friendly. We bought the car that day and Mr. Smith made sure that it was prepped, cleaned up and ready to go to Pennsylvania. During our long wait for all of the paperwork details to be worked out, he saw to our comfort and gave me an orientation to enable me to safely drive home in a new car late at night. He has made follow up calls to check to see if we have questions and has made himself available by phone to explain some of the nuances of this model.You are in good hands with Wayne Smith.

He had this condescending and judging attitude maybe thinking I can’t AFFORD a new Volvo. Well, I took my business to Fredericksburg Volvo where I’ve got a way better deal and had a world class customer service experience.

Just bought a car and had a good experience with the sales staff. Great selection and got a good deal.Problem is only half the employees in the indoor sales office were wearing masks. I complained to the manager and most put masks on, but when I went to another building to compete the purchase, same problem. Buying a car shouldn’t involve unnecessary exposure to coronavirus. I recommend people stay away until coronavirus is finished or Fairfax Volvo starts requiring masks.

Mohamed Salem is excellent!!! I began my search through my local dealership OSteen Volvo. They always seem like they want to help but they have fallen through twice in a span on six months!! I purchased a XC90 in February (went through CarMax) and this past month I purchased a V90 through Fairfax. I reached out to dealerships as far as California, Texas, Connecticut, and Maryland. Fairfax outshone everyone. In fact the deal was too good to pass. I wanted a V90 but I just purchased the XC90 - I was thinking lease but what was eventually presented with something that was too good to pass up. Mohamed delivered more than I asked. He really did. One thing of note is when I replied through an email I am assuming he noted that my signature was as a physician. The entire time he addressed me as Dr. This is something that we strive years to earn but in this day and age that respect has fallen to the wayside. The fact that he not only recognized it but addressed me as suchthroughout the entire process are little things that make a huge difference. In 2018, patients call me by my first name and at Fairfax they make me feel appreciated. I know that is small but that is a story I will tell colleagues in addition to what a great vehicle Volvo makes!! The only disappointment of this entire process is that Fairfax and Mohamed really made my local dealership a place that I am not happy to deal with for service or anything else. I am truly disappointed with OSteen and if I purchase another Volvo it will be with Fairfax and hopefully Mohamed!!
I purchased my first Volvo a few weeks ago from Fairfax Volvo. Since I have never owned one, I didnt know much about the brand or its vehicles. Miriam H. is by far the most knowledgeable sales consultant I have ever worked with for any brand. I am generally a needy customer and go in to a dealership armed with more knowledge than the sales team. I ask lots of questions. I couldnt stump Miriam. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Miriam was fantastic - I suggest everyone ask for her when they stop in. From the very beginning she was careful to listen to what we wanted and offered solutions to meet our parameters around price, color and features. She never pressured us, just helped us figure out what could work. Even when we walked away with no deal the first time, she kept in touch, working on other options (in a no pressure way) to earn our business. Long story short - she did earn our business and we drove away happy with the price and the car we wanted. We did a ton of research and nobody else within a 25 mile radius could beat the deal we received.
Let’s be honest, dealerships can be so difficult to work with and a total pain. I usually avoid working with dealerships to get work done on our cars...until now. I needed to have our Volvo looked at and instead of taking it to our regular mechanic, I decided to take it to the Volvo dealership in Fairfax. Once there, I worked with Justin, in the service department. He was incredibly professional as I told him what was going on. He then proceeded to tell me what I could expect to be done, the approx cost, and time frame. He also offered a drop off service to take me wherever I needed to go and to pick me up when I was ready to come back.Later that afternoon I got a call from Justin to let me know things were on schedule and to answer any questions I might have.It was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had with a service department at a dealership. I have since been back, with our other car that isn’t even a Volvo, and was treated with the same respect and consideration as before. It was clear, working with a Justin, that he loves what he does and he’s committed to Volvo’s standard of giving their customers the best experience possible.I have to say, with a job, kids, and the craziness of life, I love knowing I have someone I can trust when it come to helping me keep our cars running safely and smoothly, and working with someone who loves what he does, made all the difference.

2 times Justin Robbins took great care of my needs; once when I first bought my Volvo and recently when I needed some things looked at and an oil change. From the minute I walked in the first time, Justin was there to help me with a smile, great knowledge and fantastic customer service. They do great service work but are on the high end of prices. If all you need is small maintenance things it is probably better off going to another service. I had to deduct a star because in two appointments they have told me the wrong pickup time twice. However, if it absolutely has to be done right, these guys will make sure of it. They have a waiting room for you to sit, if needed. Extra bonus is they clean the car with every service for free.
Great customer service from Tim and Wayne. They weren’t pushy when working with us. They answered all of our questions. We were extremely happy with the entire process. Get your next Volvo from here. You won’t regret it.
My wife decided on the 2020 xc90 so it was my job to do the heavy lifting with the dealerships. Naturally, I shopped around and spoke to a few different sales folks. In my first call into Fairfax Volvo, I landed TONI JACKSON over the phone and she was SO EASY TO WORK WITH that I almost expected something to go terribly wrong along the way because she was so easy to work with compared to every other salesperson I have bought cars from in the past!From the get go, Toni was clear on what we were looking for and the price range we wanted to be stay in. She did some work on her end and got back to me fairly quickly on a great deal on a top trim line. Toni Jackson was a HUGE help in selling us a brand new Volvo XC 90 and the facility overall is clean and service is amazing.
Service center needs additional support. Came for a regular milage check-up. Price online wasnt accurate. Asked for a vehicle safety inspection, which they forgot to do. Not a very good customer service. Not going to be back to this service center.
2nd purchase with them and Wayne Smith(over 16 year period). Really very pleased with the whole process. Wayne is very knowledgeable, patient and exemplary in his level of service.

Good service and friendly staff, decent rates. Took good care of my car. However, after moving from a different state and having an inspection done, they definitely did more work on my car than was necessary for inspection. There were also things that were missed the first time around that, if a thorough look through had been done, would not have been missed. Not sure I will bring my car back.

As the lawyer in the family, before Covid, I would’ve insisted on going with them to the dealership despite the fact that I hate negotiating with car dealerships. However due to Covid, I couldn’t fly from CA to VA. The idea of helping them find the best car and best deal remotely was daunting. Toni made the process—which I expected to be as fun as a root canal—seamless, painless, easy, and actually enjoyable. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, genuine, and exceedingly responsive. She even researched options and called me to discuss after hours and on her day off.During the negotiations—because Im chatty—I learned that Toni commutes miles past other car dealerships to work at Fairfax Volvo. In her words, its worth it to work with my manager and the whole team. Id have to agree. Everyone on the team—from Toni Jackson to Sales Manager Shireen Alkhairy and GSM Timothy Wanamaker— is great to work with and went out of his/her way for my family (including patiently answering my barrage of questions and phone calls).I have never written a google review but felt like I had to let folks know (especially those like me who hate dealing with car dealerships): If youre looking for a car, youd be doing yourself a disservice to not at least meet with Toni and the Fairfax Volvo team. Ive purchased 6 cars from this dealership and 5 of my transactions have been with Wayne Smith. If you are looking for an honest salesman who knows his products do not hesitate to reach out to Wayne. He is never pushy and always wants to do right by the customer. The only reason I cant give a 5 star rating is because the 5th car I bought from the dealership was a used car lemon and it took me getting Volvo Corporate involved to get any resolution. At the end of the day (it took months to get there) they made it right and my wife loves her car again.
This review is for the sales department only. (Ive not had any experience with service, etc.) I bought a used car from Wayne. Ask for him -- he is honest, and an all-around great guy. Wayne and the dealership went out of their way to help me solve the problem of buying a car and being able to transport and register it out of state. Also, Wayne introduced me to the service guy, who happily recounted the cars history and previous ownership for me. I will go out of my way to buy my next Volvo with Wayne!
I own a 2004 XC90 with roughly 198,000 miles on it. It just keeps on running. I credit its longevity to the service team and in particular, Clark Speaker. Hes exceptionally outstanding. He knows my cars service history like it was his own vehicle. Hes the consummate professional as he courteously and pleasantly takes the time to explain in detail why repairs need to be done, provides the estimate as well the time it will take to finish. He can be aptly named the Speaker of the House of Fairfax Volvo.
The experience has been and continues to be a struggle from the start. It started with the agreement on the price not being what was printed at closing. They did make it right in the end, but took an additional trip to the dealer. Then came the engine light on day 2 of ownership. Brought in for repair and to have the hitch put on. Was then driven to the enterprise car rental inside an old comfort inn, and waited 40 minutes, only to have to to provide a $50 deposit, was told I couldn’t drive the car more than 150 miles… so I could now go from driving my brand new XC60-T8 for stripped down base model Toyota Corolla that had bird poop all over the windows. Was told “sorry our hose broke” so couldn’t clean the car. After stopping at the nearest gas station so I could clean windows to safely drive I went home to wait for a call that the car was done. After leaving multiple messages and getting no return calls, I finally reached a service person who said the car was done. Was told all the work had been done along with service ticket showing all was completed. Got home to discover the hitch was never put on ! Called the next day to which was told that all the parts didn’t come in, and that they would call me when the parts arrived. A week later, no call, and have started leaving messages again… The frustration continues…
Fairfax Volvo is great! Since the day I bought my Volvo there and 5 years running. Not only does the car run great, they also provide outstanding service! In particular, Clark S (Service Consultant) is always there for the customer. Always professional, very knowledgeable, patient, listens carefully, and then gets the job done right the first time. In and out with no hassles. Thanks to all the staff and those behind the scenes that make this a great experience. Would not hesitate to return there for my second Volvo when the time comes.

I brought my Moms 99 Volvo to Fairfax Volvo for an evaluation. So all of you who read this understand my Moms car had been sitting for 2 yrs, the transmission was toast, her entire brake system was fried, and the tires were decomposing onto her driveway pavement. This car was in a really bad way. After an evaluation from their chief mechanic Brett he found out the car was still worth saving. It should have been extremely expensive and keeping in mind that a total of 70 replacement parts were needed. Fairfax Volvo and its team worked very diligently with me and my Mom to not only get her car back in servicable condition but fixed it to where it sounds like a new car. I really have to commend the efforts of Clark Speaker-Service Manager, Pat-Parts Supervisor, Brett-Chief Mechanic, John-Senior Service Manager Supervisor and the senior management of Fairfax Volvo for taking the time, effort, and just plain old kindness for not only taking this project car on but working hard with my Mom and me to save money. I would say they bent over backwards to help us. I can tell all of you who read this that as a military veteran their dedication to their work and making their customers happy really is important to them. Just keep in mind everything costs money but for a dealership to take as much time as Fairfax Volvo did to help fix this car really has solidified my Moms and my trust that not all dealerships are out to get you. I am very proud to not only recommend Fairfax Volvo but say they have earned my familys/parents trust. Everyone from their service department, mechanics, parts, cashiers, porters, senior management and car washing crew did an outstanding job. Im glad to see honest businesses like theirs uphold the standard of honesty, quality and good customer service. Thank You Fairfax Volvo for all you have done and will do to service my Moms 99 Volvo.
Lets be honest, buying a car is a distant 2nd to getting a root canal. However, I can honestly say that our experience with the Sales Team at Fairfax Volvo was great. Not only were they not pushy but they have taken the time 2 weeks removed from the sale to answer our lingering questions. I could not have been happier with the service that I received at Fairfax Volvo. From start to finish, the process was painless, professional, and highly polished.I should start by saying that I come from a family of Volvo owners. I think that these cars are the greatest invention since the silicon chip. I am very proud to own one, and in twenty years when mine finally gives up the ghost, I will for certain purchase another.I developed a very unusual problem with my car, and Fairfax Volvo spent two weeks diagnosing and correcting the problem. No effort or expense was spared in the process. Justin, my service advisor, dutifully called me every day to inform me of the status of the repairs. I was also provided a loaner car (a brand new Volkswagen Passat!) at absolutely no cost. I should add that it would have cost me nearly $600 to rent a car for that time period.Fortunately, owing to the experience of the service team and technicians at Fairfax Volvo, my problem could be fixed at a reasonable price.I cannot say enough good things about the service team at Fairfax Volvo, and about Justin, my advisor. I would highly recommend anyone who owns a Volvo to get their car serviced here.
Brought my car in for an inspection. It took a week to get that done. Then I came in to pick up the car and it took over an hour to just do that. The only positive thing from the experience was the free car wash.
It was great working with Jonathan and Tim. They assured that I got what I wanted and stayed in my price range. John helped the time go by with great conversation and offered refreshments and beverages while I waited. I walked away a VERY satisfied customer....I will definitely recommend this dealership and more specifically John to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle. They don’t seem to take care of their employees... seem pretty shady... heard what happened to few of them. Smh having a high turn over rate in the service department... poor management... go to Don Byer, you’ll be better off
I called some a few other Volvo dealerships for a part and they were only helpful if you were going to purchase the part from them. I asked for the part number and all other Volvo dealerships told me no. I went to Fairfax Volvo to pick up the part and found out I was looking for the wrong part and he gave me the part number so I can do some research in case I wanted to purchase from someone else. He was VERY helpful.

Have a new service dept crew and they still have some problems. From doing what was asked and doing it correctly the first time. Should not take 3 hrs for oil change, inspection(which they didnt do the 1st time) and emission. I will give them one more try in 10,000 miles, hoping they get their act together.
I used to bring my vehicle here for servicing. I would constantly have to remind them what needed to be done. Often times the advisor would call me to tell me that my car was ready, and when I inquired as to if such and such was done, theyd reply Oh... Let me have them do that real quick.I needed some major servicing done, and took my car to Dulles Volvo instead. They were fantastic!! Got everything completed, including things that should have been caught by Fairfax Volvo, but I was never made aware of.Today I drove to Fairfax Volvo at 8 AM to get two tires (that I already had) mounted, and was told that they could not see me without an appointment, and they wouldnt have one available until end of next week. Then asked me if I had the tires or needed some. Im sure if I was spending more money with them, they would have made time. I have never needed an appointment before, and suddenly I need one on a Thursday in the middle of the month? The Assistant Service Manager then referred me to a dump across the street with terrible reviews. I called Dulles Volvo who told me they could definitely get me in today!This Volvo place always had TERRIBLE ratings when I started coming here... funny how its increased now that the service department puts a message on your receipt to go on and give a positive review, and that if youre not satisfied, not to post a review, but to call them.Do yourself a favor and drive over to Dulles Volvo.
