Good experience getting state inspection and brake work done. They also have very cool Halloween decorations. 10/10 would highly recommend.

I used to go to Jermantown Shell for safety inspections until I moved to Chantilly about 8 years ago. After the move I started using a shop near my new place and its been ok. But last year they wouldnt pass my car unless work was done to the front break. I was somewhat suspicious but just wanted to be done with it so I let them. This year before going in I was joking with my wife whether theyd pull the same trick, and Id get a second opinion should they. Lo and behold, the report came in and the inspection failed due to rust on the rear break pads and rotors. Mind you I had put at most several hundred miles on the car since the last inspection because of the pandemic. They quoted me $440 for the work “needed”. I went to a second place and was told the same thing and handed a $380 quote. Finally decided to go back to Jermantown Shell despite the distance and having to use Uber. To be honest while I was hoping for a different verdict I didnt really expect it. Yet a few hours after I dropped off my car I got the call that it passed the inspection and was ready for pick up. When I picked up my car I let Mike know how much I appreciated their honesty. Jermantown Shell is now my go to place again.

My last visit was weird, the gentleman who did my estimate snatched out if my hands when I said I wanted to think about it. He also had a different car name and model on the estimate. He then made a copy and ripped the bottom part and gave it...well, basically threw it at me. I will not rate zero because I have been going there for 20 years to do car inspections and nobody had been this rude. But for sure will not be back.

Went on a Saturday to do an emissions and safety check. They had quite a line, so there was a wait (about 2 hours). But, they were polite and went pretty quick through the cars.

Their hours for State Inspections are not as shown. I was told they close at 1:50pm on Saturdays and 4:50pm on weekdays

Avoid if you are doing repairs or diagnostics on your car!I took my car for a Safety Inspection here on 09/02/2020 to Jermantown Shell and due to a light not functioning failed the test. I agreed to perform a diagnostic on the vehicle to determine what needed replaced/fixed for which I was charged $100.Diagnostic result was that intelligent relay of the car needed replaced and fixing quote was $350+ which I found too high and passed. I ordered the part myself and had the part replaced elsewhere and went to get 2nd opinion only to find out that diagnostics done on my car was incorrect.In addition to misdiagnosis on my vehicle, I found that fuse box cap was broken loose, cap on one of the fuses was missing and passenger side high beam wire was stripped just to gauge the voltage and was left naked! That is not just manhandling, it is also putting customers safety at risk and is hazerdous.I complained to Chase, the manager at this location and was treated very unfairly and unprofessionally. I not only did not receive an apology, or offer for a solution, I was told that I was lying. While I was explaining about the damage that was done as a result of this misdiagnosis and showing them what I meant by their total disregard and recklessness towards my property, they suddenly had enough of the conversation and walked away. Even getting refund back had to be so difficult with the passive aggressive behavior shown by Chase as the Manager of this location.I have tried to reach to this locations management but never heard back from them.

I have been coming here for years. I loved that my vehicle was always fixed the same day. But recently I have noticed that when you come in for inspection, there is always something wrong that will not pass inspection. I was told that I had a bad ball joint. I took it to another shop and was told that I had no issues with either ball joint. I think they are doing this because they really dont make a killing on inspections. So they tell you there is an issue so you can bring your vehicle back to them to FIX. Going to find another shop to go to. ALSO, I think this was done because I am a female. Please check your inspector. Ripping customers off will bite you later.

This is my go-to mechanic since I have moved to Fairfax 3 years ago. They are honest, reasonably priced, and have great customer service. Chase is great. He takes the time to talk and explain the issues with you. Recently, I had my Prius in for a recall notice at a Toyota dealer. Their mechanic quoted me a $3,000 fix for leaking gaskets. I have not seen oil leaks in my parking spot, and the pictures they sent (after I asked) didnt show any visible oil leaks. So, I took it to Chase for a second opinion. He looked at it, and found one oil leak, and some other important issues that needed fixed. He did all of the repairs for a fraction of the price! My car is running perfectly! Amazing service! I called at 2:00 pm on Saturday just to schedule an appointment for a state inspection. I didnt even expect being served the same day since they are open till 3:00 pm. I was talked to come and have the inspection. It took me 30 minutes to come, being served, and go home!!! Great job! The staff is very polite and friendly, willing to answer questions and give estimates. I will definitely come here again!

I went this morning to get an emissions inspection done. I was here for 30 minutes. It took 10 minutes for my car to be done. This was a great experience. I’ll definitely come back again. And on a Saturday morning, in and out.

I just got my state inspection and Emissions done at this location and Im so happy that I listened to the other reviews and decided to go with this gas station. The process took about 20 minutes, as long as your car passes. Mine didnt, I needed some bulbs replaced and for $15 Marty went ahead and replaced them for me. That only added another 10 minutes, over all extremely satisfied. Patrick and Eric are very nice and good conversationalists too!

Great customer service! Chase was quick and extremely helpful! They had me in and out in under 20 minutes for a tire plug on a Saturday. Definitely will be back for anything else I need done.

Called 6 auto shop for a tire repair, was not able to wait. Chase said will plug it for 18$ in 10 mins. I was not sure with the long line of cars when pulled in, came out and did it as promised. Outstanding.

With my car overheating I needed to find a gas station immediately to buy some coolant for my 97 Toyota Celica Convertible. This gas station was the closest one to me and luckily (bless the lord) it was also an auto repair shop. Marty, but for the most part, Chase helped out with my car and even somewhat gave a show when releasing pressure from something backed- up in the car. They both were willing to help even when I got there after closing. I was able to drive my car home that day thanks to them.Chase if youre reading this, thank you so much again!

My car wouldnt start so I walked to the nearest gas station. What could have been a terrible night turned into a great experience! Chase the owner went above & beyond with helping me get my car working again, from lending me supplies and offering me a ride to showing me the tests he was running and explaining what was wrong with my battery. This place has never let me down, it is my go-to shop. Also, when my wife walks in to Jermantown Shell, I know shes not going to get lied to because shes not a gentleman - a standard protocol in lots of places.Reading some of the other reviews on this thread Im really surprised. Again, my wife, our children and I have always been treated honestly and with respect by the manager and all of the mechanics on duty. All repairs have been done competently and within a time frame that is to be expected. Im thinking that some people are expecting too much for too little, as many people do in this area.But, you get what you pay for, and peace of mind from a car repair shop is worth its weight in gold. It would be pretty hard to find any other mechanic in the greater Fairfax area that is more honest and competent, and that leaves you without that ripped off feeling that most other shops do.

At first I went to a different gas station a couple streets down for a deflating tire and told me that I need a whole new tire but when I came to this gas station, Brad and Chase stopped what they were doing and were very honest and instead of paying a hundred dollars or more, they patched it up without no hassle. I frequent jermantown shell any time I need service on my car. I went to one location for 20 years but chase and chick gave me service I been looking for for a local mechanic should give. Past 3 years i only come here. Great service, honest prices and they treat you like family. Oil change, brakes etc. If you need it give them a call. You be glad you did.

Had a squeaky noise when accelerating. They fixed the loose belt, but that didn’t solve the problem. I called them up, they were very understanding and took my car back in, really exploded the possible problems, explained to me what they were looking for, and ultimately solved the problem. (No extra charge for the second, deeper look.) They’re committed to solving the problem!

This place is awesome!The guys at Jermantown Shell have been really good to me. In October, I brought my car to them 3 times in 10 days for 3 different things. The first time was spur of the moment; I was actually on my way to a different mechanic when I noticed smoke coming from my engine and I happened to be right next to the Shell.They got me sorted out quickly and their price was so fair, that when my car started making a noise a week later I immediately went back to them. Just a loose backing plate, which they secured in about 15 minutes after I arrived and they didn’t even charge me since I’d just been in the week before.Just a few days later, my car was intermittently not starting, so I brought it to them. They weren’t able to reproduce the issue (and over a month later, I haven’t encountered it again either), but they kept my car for a few days and ran a bunch of tests on it before returning it back to me. If any other mechanical problems arise with my car, I’m definitely taking it back here!

I brought in my vintage car to Jermantown Shell for a fluids and oil change but was worried they might not want to work on it on the account of the cars age. My car had a flat tire when I went to leave work and the only gas station nearby was this one. And let me tell you, this place had amazing service !when I arrived at the gas station the cashier told me their shop was closed and everyone had left already. So, I was left out in the cold rain with no idea what to do, and that’s when a miracle happened. The mechanic (Chase) had come back to the shop and in time to help me, even though they were already closed. Chase really went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me, and it was the best customer service I’ve experienced!! This Shell makes other places look bad and they can definitely take some notes on what excellent customer service is.I was paranoid of getting another flat tire, so I suggested to maybe change all four, instead of just the flat. Right then and there they could have taken advantage and agreed just to make a bigger sale. However, chase had my back and told me to first worry about the flat and he would check the rest to see if they really needed the change. I really appreciated that because theres not many places that look out for the customers, some would rather focus on seeing how to get the most money out of you.This is going to be my new go to spot from now on, I will recommend everyone I know to go here!😊

I am not one to first seek car mechanical services at a nearby gas station. My car is usually dropped off at the dealer for maintenance. After an unforeseen circumstance and these wonderful group of folks being within close distance (my car couldnt go far at the time), Im glad I came here. I have had several major repairs done here and so far so good. Im also anal of receiving details of what repairs are being done and they are very patient with me. Im extremely satisfied with the service I receive here, and enjoy bringing my car to Jermantown Shell (next to the Wendys).

Had problems at the pump when my transaction got cancelled for gas but the pre charge was still pending in my account from the first attempt. The cashier as well as manager were very annoying and not helpful. Also kept repeating themselves when I fully understood what they said the first three times. And when I said okay (after they were done talking AT me) and turned to leave the manager was gratuitously snarky. I really didn’t need extra attitude on top of a frustrating experience/poor service while I’m half way out the door. I have never had this happen at any other gas station in my life.

Ive been bringing our two cars to Chase and Brad for the past two years and change. They are by far the best mechanics Ive ever had. They are always quick with turnaround, honest, and upfront. They always tell me what is wrong and discuss my options: whether it needs done right away or any cheaper alternatives to help reduce the cost.A perfect example happen today with our Mazda CX-5. The check engine light came on even though the car felt fine and nothing out of the normal had happen. I dropped it off Sunday night and got a call from Chase Monday morning to go over the issue. Turns out the the PCM had failed and would need replacing. Chase then went on to explain that it would be best to take it to the dealership as it should be covered under the Clean Air Act, which is a federal warranty program for those kinds of parts, and told me not to let them charge me anything. After taking it to the dealer and they confirmed the issue, the dealership tried to charge me $1,200. I had to tell them about the warranty program for them to remove the charges.Had Chase not explained it to me and warned me I would probably be out that $1,200 because it is a bit of an obscure warranty. Jermantown Shell could have just as easily gave me a run around and charge me for the repair themselves, yet they didnt because of how amazing they are.If youre looking for a mechanic or need a new one, Chase and Brad are the only people you should go see. They are the best mechanics in the area!!!Thank you guys for the amazing work and help over the last 2 years!! So long as we live in the area, our business is yours!Edit: 08/02/19A day or so later, Chase actually called and followed up to see if everything went well with the mechanic. His shop wasnt even doing to work on the car yet they still called to follow up. That right there is the kind of dedication you want in a mechanic.

I had some extensive work done on my Pontiac Sunfire a couple of weeks ago and am not happy at all. My car was towed in late on a Saturday evening and thanks for them being opened 24 hours I was able to leave the keys and instructions with a attendant. Talked to them on Monday and Tuesday and still no idea what was wrong with my car. It took until Wednesday to finally be told what was wrong (fuel pump, fuel filter, supposedly a broken wire and a couple of other things). I gave Chase the approval to go ahead with the repairs. On Thursday I get a call to tell me that the starter also needs to be replaced.(Which was a surprise because it was just replaced November, from my REGULAR Mechanic) I told Chase the paperwork should be in the glove box and was under warranty and that I needed the starter back so I could get a refund from the other shop (the other shop said no problem, we just need the Old starter and receipt) I walked over there at lunch time (Convenience which is 1 of the reasons I came here) spoke with Chase and Marty and reiterated to both about wanting the starter back and was told, no problem and the car would be ready in the afternoon.Thursday evening I pick up my car, and paid $1400 plus some change (they claimed they gave me a discount). Friday morning it was hesitating and sluggish and I brought it back and was told I needed to take it out on the highway to reset the computer??? After returning to work. I noticed I did not have the starter in the back seat which is where I told them to put it. I called and spoke to Chase, was told they would have to see if they could find it. 2 weeks have gone by and I had to call everyday to find out the status. 1 day it was be researched, another day in Roanoke and then then believe it or not Chase tries handing me a Honda starter (FYI, I didnt fall off the turnip truck yesterday) But was assured they were still looking for it.This brings us to today. After numerous conversations between Chase, Marty and myself and Still no starter. I went in and spoke to Chase after asking to speak with Chick (The Owner) was told NO that Chase was told to handle this. After almost 3 weeks Chase and Marty point blank LIED to my face in front of customers and said I NEVER REQUESTED THE STARTER TO BE RETURNED. It wasnt in writing was his words. However when I spoke to Chase on the phone, my co-worker (Who recommended me to them and told me to ask for the starter back from day 1) was right on the side of me when I told him to put it in the back seat and to look in the glove compartment incase they needed the invoice for verification. So I am now minus a starter that I could have gotten my money back for, no reprieve or apology from the employees or owner for them dropping the ball, but instead given the runaround, lied to and demoralized in the front of other customers. Chase had a smirk on his face during the last conversation that gave me the impression he was pleased with the outcome. I should have been reimbursed for the part since it was under warranty, not smiled at or laughed at or lied to like I was.Unfortunately for them I will not be back.

Absolutely love this place! The first time I came here was after I had gotten an outrageous quote from the dealership to repair an issue I was having with my car. I came here to get a second opinion and they told me the issue was minor and they fixed it for far less. I have come here ever since. Everybody I have dealt with has been incredibly nice and honest. I cant imagine going anywhere else. Chase has been the mechanic Ive worked with the most. Hes always been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

Great service from Chase!!!! I had a mostly flat tire and filling it with air after work when he asked if he could help. I was exhausted and I just wanted to get home with an hour commute in front of me....He had me pull around and checked it. Nail in my tire... ugh! He said it would take 5-10 minutes to fix. Didn’t try to sell me a new tire... what??? Awesome!!! I really felt like he just wanted to help: refreshing!!!! I had stopped here once before with a headlight out at night and had great service then too but he went above and beyond my expectations! I was in and out in 10 mins including the time I took putting air in before he offered help! Thank you sooo much!!!!

I am currently in a line for 3 hours to get my an emission test for my car. This is the worst place to get it done!!! Avoid at all cost!!! I may be out of this line by Christmas, pray for me.Update:It seems this place is selling new equipment as the tests are being completed. It explains why I’ve been in this line for 3hrs. Another example of why government services should be done by government employees.

On our way to a Volleyball Tournament this morning we noticed our tire indicator came on we decided to jump off 66 and get some air.When we got to Shell, we didnt need air we needed a new tire. Kudos to Chase who was awesome to help us change our tire and send us off safely!!!

Got vehicle inspected and it failed as I expected. However we fixed problems that failed & brought vehicle back 2 days later for re-inspection & they failed it for tires which did not fail 2 days before. Wasted 3 hours round trip from Maryland. If this happens to you call State trooper in Virginia. They are only supposed to reinspect the issues that failed. Of course tires are important and we gladly replaced them but the wasted time trying to get vehicle registered within 30 day timeframe was at jeopardy.

Chase has helped me when I was in a bind not once, but TWICE! First time was one evening when my battery died at the gas station. Even though it was late and the shop was closed, the attendant for the gas station gave Chase a call and he was at the station within 10 minutes helping me charge my battery. Lets just pause here for a minute to acknowledge this amazing customer service.......!!!The second time Chase and Marty recognized a VERY expensive issue with my engine. While they could have easily charged me $5000+ to fix it, instead they did some investigating and learned that this is an error that happened due to a faulty design. I’m telling you you will not find a better service station and talented staff with quick and honest services in the tri-state area . They’re very reasonable priced and they follow through on what they promised every time . I drive 80 miles from where I live to go to the station because I know their worker is honest fair and professionally done every time all the time . Thanks to the whole staff are there honest fair and spout on service I’ll never stop using you .

As a former employee I know the love and care that goes into this business. The owner back in 2009 was Chick, I hope he is still there guiding his team and business. We grew new programs together for staff, he rewarded hard work, and fostered good business ethics. His mechanics are top of the line and the pre-purchase vehicle inspection helped me by giving me key information on some upcoming costs. When I look back at people that I worked with that shaped me and my ethical business and Chick comes to mind. When I think what kind of a lead I want to be, its Chick. We knew our customers by name, decorated the locations, and helped some staff that were recovering from hardships. Just an amazing place all around.

They do the absolute most with their holiday decorations and I LOVE it. There was about a year when they werent doing it but they are again and its great.

I dropped my car off here for a state inspection near the end of the month, expecting it to take all day. About 90 minutes later, it was all ready.Fast, cheap, friendly, and they made no attempts to upsell anything. I have no complaints.

Good pricing and knowledgeable staff! The woman at the front desk is friendly as well. Only downside was the wait time however that is not necessarily the fault of the service center.

These guys treat you well, do good work, and dont overcharge. What more can be said? You wont be disappointed.

I have been a customer for over 10 years with different cars. I recently decided to keep my 1995 Jeep Wrangler and did a complete Tune-up/Overhaul from top to bottom. Marty is my GO TO MECHANIC and Chick and Tom are my go to Service guys. I would not trust any other garage or group pf guys to work on my Jeep and I plan on driving it for many years!I wrote the above post almost a year ago.Just picked up my Jeep for some regular UNSCHEDULED maintenance and of course the Guys (Marty, Chase, Tom and Chick) took care of me. Not to many places will quote you a price, have you agree with the price, only to go there and pick it up and the price is LOWER than agreed upon! You guys Rock as Usual!November 28, 2018Well went in for my pre winter Check up and of course Chase and The team at Jermantown Shell took care of me and Jeepy! Not only that but saved me money in the long run. After 10 plus years, There is no other Hometown Mechanic for me. Do NOT go here. I repeat DO NOT! I dropped off my car on Friday evening around 4PM and they finally called me back the following day at 3PM. After finally getting back to me with their absurd price they literally called me 3 times in the span of 10 minutes saying they needed an answer or they would charge me a diagnostic fee.I went to another place the following day and they charged me $130 less than what Jermantown Shell was charging.

They offer a great service with a reasonable price. I have been using their service for over 7 years, and there hasnt been any surprises!

I like this gas station but since Ena is there I have had a lot of issues when I filling the gas tank of my car. She is not paying attention to transaction requested.

STAY AWAY like bad politicians, will give promises that they cant keep.took my vehicle there because it was close to home and the price difference with Nutley service was not that much, and told them to do the inspection at once.but they did not did all the contracted work (alleging a misunderstanding (and they speak english)) and end up paying more than it would cost me in Nutley service, (where it was clear what was contracted, even with the language breach)and my vehicle end up in worse conditions,plus the inspection guy really sweat the smallest stuff,the counter products are pricier than the other shell stations 2 blocks awayso, Im not coming here EVER, not even for gas,

I took my car there because of a strange noise that it was making on the driver side. Thank you to Chase for fixing the problem (loose mud flap) and spending about half an hour of his time without charging anything.
