My laptop issue was quickly diagnosed. The part had to be ordered. When it arrived, the vendor sent the wrong part. Hackers Inc reordered the correct part with expedited delivery, even though that was not necessary for me. Once the correct part arrived, the repair was completed while I waited...not more than 10 min.Hackers Inc is a well run shop. Cameron treated me professionally and was exceptionally responsive. He regularly kept me up to date on the status of my computer and part. This is the second time I have used them and my first experience was just as good.
I went to Hackers Ink with an iPhone 6s Plus that needed a new battery. Cameron was my technician. They to order the battery in and while communication could have been a little better (they held my phone for a full week while they waited for the battery to arrive, apparently the delivery had been delayed multiple times), Cameron was extremely professional and did an exceptional job repairing my phone. He apologized for the long wait and described in great detail what was wrong with the phone, what he did to fix it, and answered any questions I had. Hackers Ink can’t control when their deliveries arrive, especially during times of Covid. They’ll always be my go-to for any and all tech repair!
My laptops wifi was malfunctioning. After attempting to troubleshoot it myself, I gave up and decided to let a professional handle it and holy smokes did they do a stand up job!I dropped the laptop off before I went shopping. By the time I finished unloading my bags at home, I got a callback from Cameron with a (free) diagnosis of the issue, a fix, and a quote. They said they not only had a replacement for my laptops wifi card, but found out the laptop had a lot of debris in its vents which affected its cooling capabilities, and that the thermal paste had turned into thermal dust and was in desperate need of a change. They said theyd have it fixed in 30 minutes. Done and done. Thanks again Cameron for the exceptional service, fair price, and speedy fix!
Had an excellent experience. They figured out the problem with my laptop in no time and fixed it asap! Had a great conversation with Cameron when picking it up and he gave me a rundown on what was done and what I could do going forward to keep my laptop in good shape.
Cameron was very helpful, solved a keyboard issue for me remotely!
AWFUL SERVICE!!! I took my phone in to replace the screen. It was returned to me with the screen not glued down correctly and the replacement screen popped right off, resulting in a damaged front-facing camera. When I called to inform them of what happened, the person on the line got sassy with me. Later with another call, the owner then told me the repair was under warranty and they would fix it AGAIN for free. After 2 weeks of absolutely no communication (even though I called several times) they said the phone was ready for pick up and that the faulty screen and camera were replaced. I picked up my phone and returned home only to discover that the screen was the only thing fixed. The front-facing camera was in the same condition as when I dropped it off 2 weeks prior. I then called back to say it wasnt fixed to which I was called a liar several times and when I asked for the owners information he hung up on me.SIDE NOTE: Because my father and I share the same name does not mean we are the same person. I do want to point out that the owner (Eric Smith) left himself a wonderful 5 star review of his OWN BUSINESS. Another thing I may want to add is to look at the photos for this place. There is a photo of my father and I.
One of the more professional small business I have been to. My touch screen was not working anymore at all. They told me that fixing it was no problem, and that it could be done for far less then what the fruit store would charge me. After 40 minutes the job was done, great service and knowledgeable owner.
I just discovered this gem of a computer repair service. I was experiencing difficulties with both my older Desktop PC and a little-bit-less-older Dell Laptop. They ran diagnostic tests on both, neither of which required anything special. Hackers was honest and extremely fair with their prices. I could have easily been taken advantage of but I wasnt. These folks are top-notch and my permanent source for computers and repairs. They have my trust!
My MacBook Pro was having issues with overheating and powering off on me. As a graphic designer, having my laptop working is crucial. I took it in and Hackers Ink techs checked it out for me. It turned out it just needed a deep clean and new thermal paste. The owner Eric and employees of this store are always very friendly and make you feel at home! I really enjoyed stopping to browse the comics while dropping off my laptop too. My computer was fixed in under 48 hours and has been running all my intense graphics programs perfectly. I even picked up a little, Day of the Dead hot sauce for Halloween- yum! They gave me a 30 day warranty on my repair. I love this place and will come back for any computer repair, comic book, hot sauce, or gaming need. This place is not your average computer repair shop, but I think thats what makes it so much fun! Thanks guys!
Super friendly! Goes above and beyond for all our needs! Thank you so much to the owner for advice that saved us a lot of money!
Like Thomass camera I brought my laptop in to be fixed and they broke it. I brought my laptop in to get my screen replaced.I went to pick it up, my hinges were messed up, the bezel wasnt attached and it would open properlyThe guy at the counter told me that they needed to keep it a little while longer and fix it.I went a few days later i picked it up and took it home, but my laptop would turn on, or charge.took it back the guy at the store was getting angry like its my fault he broke my laptop. He gave it to a tech to diagnose. After a half hour i just asked to have my money back.He made a big deal out of it but eventually took the screen off and gave me my refund. The people at hackers inc are incompetent and the manager is unprofessional, and now my laptop is much more broken than it was before i brought it in.
Fast and friendly service. Met owner while I was there and he was so helpful answering all my questions.
Had an issue where my hard drive crashed last week and brought it in to Hackers to have it looked at. Hackers was able to retrieve some of the documents - but none of the items from my desktop. They recommended that I go to Shaw Computer Services.I called Phil and about the issue and a day later dropped off the defective hard drive and hoped that he would be able to retrieve the missing files. Within two hours of dropping it off - he called to say that he was able to retrieve all the files - which was a big relief. Phil was very courteous, professional and timely - would highly recommend him to anyone with hard drive issues.
I brought at least four desktops, two tablet pcs, and my phone to these guys. There pricing policy, offering free diagnosis, is awesome. They always do a great job. I have made the mistake of trying some of the other well-known computer/phone repair places, but after multiple incorrect diagnoses and clearly lacking knowledge, I thankfully found Hackers Mancave.
These guys really know their stuff! My computer was not connecting to the internet and they discovered the anti-virus was blocking me. They uninstalled, gave me a free anti-virus, cleaned up the computer (including wiping it down) and made it run faster.THANK YOU HACKERS!!!! Super Smart Guys!
I brought my laptop with a power button working only half of the time. After repair, the power button worked ONCE at home. Then within 3 HOURS after picking it up from the shop, it stopped working. When I brought it back, they BLAMED me that I had caused the damage to the laptop and the mother board in that 3 hours.UPDATE: Within one day after they accused me of damaging the laptop, the power button worked momentarily. So I brought the unit back in order to prove them wrong, and prove that I did not damage the motherboard. There was NO APOLOGY, or admitting that they wrongfully accused me. (They called it difference in opinion.)The power button did not work yesterday; it worked today. This is the EXACT CONDITION that I asked them to fix. The condition has not been repaired, but I needed to pay.I would NOT RELY on their WARRANTY. As soon as you bring your unit back home from them, they will probably blame you for their defective repair (or for their mis-diagnosis resulted in unnecessary work) if your unit no longer works as they promise.
I still don’t believe my battery started bulging because “high cpu usage” when I gave them the laptop in good shape besides the cracked screen. I received the laptop with a fresh screen and a battery bulge. There was no mention of a battery buldge when installing the screen. Somebody put the assembly back together knowing it had a bulge and basically said “not my problem” so known the screen I just got is cracked again. But they fixed the battery buldge....so why fix the battery buldge and not the screen which caused it to crack again. Sounds fishy and bs And they didn’t want to come out of pocket. 600! dollars down drain.I received the laptop back in worst shape than I gave it to themAnd if u leave a bad review they sever ties with instead of trying to resolve the problem. Not happy at all
Short story: Called us in twice to pick up the computer but it wasnt fixed, blamed everything including the owner for the problems they didnt fix, left us with a computer that was still broken, horrific customer service. As far as I can tell the main goal of the owners is to play card games and they only grudgingly fix computers to pay the rent. Our computer wouldnt boot up, so we brought it to them. First they said it was the processor then they said the problem was the motherboard. Then they said it was fixed and I went in to pick it up. It wouldnt boot up. It was also not completely put back together. Then they said it was the video card and I left it with them another 2 weeks. They called me and told me it was fixed and I came in. It wouldnt boot up. This time around, they cycled me through 3 different techies and kept me there for over an hour because they were too busy getting ready for a card tournament (during published business hours) to pay attention to the computer that they asked me to come pick up a second time. During this time I found out that they neither replaced the motherboard or the video card they claimed were broken. The problems they blamed this time around included the video card, motherboard, disk drive, the operating system, and viruses. I put my foot down with the last 2 because I know how the system was running before it broke and we are armed to the teeth with virus software. When it did start up, one of the techs started pointing to various pieces of (government issued) software that I had installed saying see that program, it doesnt belong there, its a virus. They then decided the power supply was really the problem and fixed this by disconnecting the video card and the disk drive. They were in a rush to get me out the door because I was getting in the way of their card games and did not offer to fix the power supply. At this point I decided to pay them and leave rather than risk any more harm to my computer. What was previously a computer than ran well and probably needed some new parts now barely runs at all (super slow, lots of errors) and does not have the video capability to run the software I need for work.As I was leaving, I heard them tell someone on the phone that even though they said they were open Saturday, they would not be fixing computers that weekend because they would be too busy playing cards. I wish they would have given me the same warning when I dropped my computer off, I would have seen that red flag and gone elsewhere.Every time I was there, they had many employees but you had to wait to be helped because they were busy playing card games. One time I heard them tell a customer they couldnt get a receipt because they were out of printer ink for every printer. Another time they told a customer that they never called him back because they dont check their voice mail. This place is in serious need of both adult supervision and competent computer techies and they have neither. Avoid it at all costs!
Searched online for a reliable Cell Phone Repair shop and found this shop. Read the reviews on yelp and gave it a try, so they could fix my Galaxy S8+ volume bottom wich got stuck. They gave me fast great costumer service, glad I went there. I recomend them.
Cracked my Note 6 screen. They had it in stock and got me up and running in 20 minutes. Would recommend.
Great customer service and very prompt repair. Could not ask for a better price, highly recommended!
Great place for all of your computer and phone needs! The Owner Eric, is incredible!
Brought my tablet newer Samsung galaxy tablet in with a broken screen, they said it would be a day. Took longer than quoted, they didnt order the right parts, the new touchscreen is miss aligned, was twice the quoted price due to them miss ordering the wrong parts. Highly disappointed, will not return ever.
Edited reply: please read my exchange wirh the owner. Decide for yourself if you want to go to a busines that will treat you like this. It is interestung to see that the owner (Eric Smith) doesnt deny that he posts reviews of his own company to inflate his Google review numbers.Though he claims I posted reviews twice, he knows full well that there are two Thomas Wellocks involved in this case, my son and I have the same name. Eric and his staff interacted with both of us, and we are both entitled to review the experience on Google. Thanks Eric for proving my point about how you treat your customers by calling them liars, even when you are wrong about the basic facts. The extra money he speaks of was requested because he broke the camera with a poor glue job on a cracked screen repair. Our phone camera is worse off now than when we gave it to him to fix.Heads up!! The owner of Hackers--Eric Smith--seems to be posting reviews here for his own business (see Erics enthusiastic review below). We can probably conclude that the other positive reviews here are posted by friends. When the staff at the Ellicott City location refused to fix the camera they broke, I asked for the name of the owner. They refused to give it to me and hung up. It can easily be found online and at the Better Business Bureau. So I am not sure why they refused to supply it. As you can see, we did not use the camera they broke for this picture.Update: Took this complaint to the Better Business Bureau. As you might expect, I got no satisfaction from Eric Smith other than to be told that the claim was a lie and a fraud--this from a guy who rates his own business on Google.
Amazing customer service! They really go above and beyond for their customers.
Very professional and helpful.
These folks are great.
My experience with Hackers Ink and Jonas was AMAZING! The guys there were professional, personable, friendly, and knew what they were doing! I felt 100% comfortable with them and wouldnt hesitate to bring my computer to them again. I highly recommend Hackers Inc.Taking a computer to get fixed often feels like taking your car into the dealership, you never know what theyre going to throw at you and how much it will cost! Usually an arm and a leg at which point you may as well just buy a new computer. My laptop is 7 years old and just has a virus and was processing slowly as any would at that age. I was putting off taking it to the Geek Squad or even the Computer Guru guys up the street as the estimate might as well be a new system. My wife bought me the Groupon and the very next time I took it by. I was welcomed by Jonas who took all down all my info and was very pleasant. He told me there was at least 13 others computers ahead of mine but it would be ready by the lastest, the following day. I got a cal later that night that it was ready. When I came back, Jonas explained everything that was going on with the computer and in a way that I could understand. He didnt pressure me into buying the latest upgrades or even making me feel inadequate for having an old system. He even suggested better, cleaner gaming sites and had installed a new, free virus protection program. Jonas was very professional and personable. They even had me turn on the system and check it out before I left!Unfortunately later that week I had an issues with the system running firefox and then freezing. I was able to call the guys and spoke with Jonas again. He said it was under their warranty and without hesitation he told me to bring it back at no extra cost to have them check it out. As soon as I got there, Jonas took a look and within ten minutes has my internet all worked out and running faster than before. He even showed me what to look for and explained in laymans terms what was going on. I felt secure and comfortable with my computer when I left. I since had had no issues and highly recommend Hackers Inc.
Great Price Structure and the employees know there stuff. Never going back to the Geek Squad again.
They were a perfect solution to my request.
Amazing prices, amazing people. Not going anywhere else.
Very nice people
Very helpful!
How dare you change the company name?
