This is a lovely shop offering far more than simple olive oil its name implies. Not only do they have an amazing variety of olive oils and specialty vinegars to add some zing and depth of flavor to your pandemic limited cooking, there are all sort of cooking, baking items and specialty treats. The proprietress of this shop helped me meet all my holidays shopping goals of giving people unique and useful gifts they could really use. There are even simple baking kits that kids can easily make for the family so no one is left out. Support local and give this shop a try- many of her products are local specialties. Mothers day is coming up....

I really enjoy this little gem of Durham. They have a great selection of European olive oil as well as a great variety of balsamic vinegar. These make great Christmas/birthday gifts! I love trying a new flavor every time, but the pomegranate white balsamic vinegar is to die for! I recommend mixing it with some olive oil as a simple but delicious salad dressing. Bonus: You can clean the glass bottle and bring it to get a nice discount for your new bottle, no bottles wasted & yay sustainability! That is not all. Soup mixes, specialty pasta, candy, local honey/jam... It is one of my favorite local places and my first go-to if I need a quick gift. I love that they are always nice and helpful, great customer service. Don’t forget to try their local honey, you won’t regret!!

So many delicious things packed in to this store. I went in for the peach balsamic vinegar after seeing it featured in a cocktail, but walked out with much more. The espresso balsamic vinegar is now my go to. I admit it, I scoffed at flavor infused olive oil. How much of a difference could that make? Yeah, I was wrong. The knowledgeable staff guided me through a couple of combinations and I was hooked. I’d say that the vinegar and olive oil would make a great gift, but the “gift” I purchase ended up being consumed at my house. Sorry not sorry.

Hands down one of the best stores in the Triangle. Julie is just wonderful to chat with about food, olive oil, and full of great ideas and recommendations. And it goes without saying that her oils and vinegars are truly outstanding. Weve been really enjoying her favorite Spanish EVOO and a fig balsamic vinaigrette as our basic salad dressing.

We bought two gift packages for the holidays and they were packaged beautifully. Our gift recipients loved the variety of items. Julie was super friendly and generous when we accidentally read the date wrong and showed up early to try and pick them up despite being in the middle of the holiday rush. I love shopping at Bull City Olive Oil!! I have made several balsamic vinegars and oils a staple in my kitchen...It seems every season I find a new favorite. Currently the Lemongrass with Mint Balsamic is my go-to for dressing our salads; leafy green and more substantial ones with beans and grains. And Julie and her staff are the best!!

We live in the Charlotte area but visit family in Durham regularly in normal times. COVID has eliminated those trips, and visits to Bull City Olive Oil. So Julie has been shipping to our home. Believe it or not, there is no good source of fresh, truly virgin olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar in our area, so weve been buying from Julie for several years. The bottles are always extremely well packed and all of her products are top quality. We were so impressed with the shipping package that we saved it to send more potent liquids to others on our Christmas list.

Theres a tremendous selection of dark and white vinegars and olive oils, and the hard part is just deciding which ones to choose! I have not had the olive oil, but I have had a number of the Balsamic vinegars and I can attest that you cannot go wrong! Pick any one of them -- or, really, three or four -- and you will love them! This little shop is amazing. I will never buy olive oil at the grocery store ever again! It really makes all the difference. Regular olive oil is so disappointing after this, you really won’t be able to go back! We love the rosemary olive oil on some crusty bread for a snack. The Milanese gremolata olive oil is so perfect for just about everything. I also really love the balsamic vinegars, especially for making unique cocktails. A splash of the jalapeño balsamic is great for making any cocktail spicy. I also use the maple balsamic to drizzle on Brussels sprouts before they go in the oven. The shop owner is very inspiring with her recipes as well. Definitely check this one out!

This store is fantastic. My husband and I go in ahead of every holiday and trip to see our families. The olive oils and vinegars are delicious, and you can sample them to find your favorite. We love the baklouti green olive oil on popcorn, bread, Indian dishes, and salad. The white vinegars are fab for salad dressings. Julie, the owner, has great recommendations for using all of the products in recipes, including cocktails. We’re having mules with the honey ginger balsamic at her recommendation. Cheers!

I first heard of bull city olive oil in a fb group a few weeks ago. I placed my first order for grapefruit and pinapple balsamic vinegars. after receiving and tasting the vinegars I placed another order for a couple of their honey. I then saw a recipe they posted on Instagram and commented how yummy it looked. The owner replied how I can use my recent purchases to make the dressing. I used the grapefruit balsamic and holly honey as dressing fir the chicken and goat cheese salad. I love the vinegar and the honey and am impressed how the owner connects to her clients. I also purchased the raspberry honey which is amazing on instant pot Greek yogurt. Another item I purchased was the olive tapenade I just tasted a spoonful it is also delicious.

Love this store! Julie, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable about all her products. Tasting various olive oils inspired new recipes for me. The Mandarin orange fused EVO is amazing on sauteed chicken. We use the garlic infused EVO nearly daily for cooking. Most delicious are the honeys with flavors from the bees source. Raspberry is incredible!

Several weeks ago, I wanted to fix an antipasto platter for dinner and wanted to visit a local shop for the ingredients. I went to Bull City Olive Oil at Brightleaf Square and found the clerk to be very helpful. I chose an oil, cheese, and a sausage, then went home to fix dinner. Upon opening the seal of the olive oil, my thumb was slashed and I bled copiously.After I bandaged it up, I went back to open the bottle of oil. Unfortunately, when I was turning the cork to bring it out of the bottle, my palm was slashed. I finally got the bleeding stopped and went back to examine the bottle. I found that the lip of the bottle, which had been obscured by the seal, was broken and about an inch was raw glass.I went to the shop the next evening with the bottle to explain what had happened. The clerk was apologetic and refunded my money, even though I said I would be happy with a replacement bottle. She took my name and contact information and said the owner, Julie, would call me to discuss what happened. Now, after quite a while, I have never heard from Julie.I like to patronize local businesses, but if they can’t bother to contact their patrons – particularly those who have been injured by their product – I don’t have much respect for them. I won’t be going back. There are many shops in Durham that have excellent olive oils and vinegars that I can patronize.

As a cook, I have incorporated their products into my recipies. Sample most of their products and you will not be disappointed. Great staff

I adore the olive oils and vinegars (fresh and huge selection), but the caper berries may be my favorite BCOO offering. If there are none available when youre there, I may be to blame (caper hoarder!). Owner Julie continues to add local and international products to the shelves. As a downtown Durham resident and worker bee, I am sooooo grateful I can easily pick up quality provisions here.

Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful! You can sample any of the oils and vinegars which is really great, and they always rotate selections and often have sale items! Highly recommend!
