As you all know, I have a serious sweet tooth. My friend’s birthday is Sunday and I happened to be in town for work and wanted to have an early celebration with her. I found Favor Desserts and decided to check them out. The service was excellent. They had friendly staff, a clean bakery, and adequate parking. I couldn’t decide what to select so I picked up 4 pieces to share.The cake was delicious! They also had cupcakes in the case, but I didn’t try any of them. The five flavor pound cake was flavorful, dense, but yet still moist which is difficult to achieve in a pound cake. I love icing and all the slices had plenty.I know you are asking “why 4 stars?” The bakery uses Clover. I was able to check-in, but the staff did not know how to use the app. It appears their loyalty card is through Clover. Employees should learn to use the app. I love a good loyalty program, but it doesn’t matter if it can’t be used properly. Other than that minor thing, I have no complaints. I’ll be stopping in the next time l’m in Durham to visit their new store and get some delicious cake!

Cake bakery that is a true treat. Cakes are just so moist and flavorful. The flavors are both simple and complex at the same time. They regularly have a variety of cake slices and cupcakes available. And of course they sell full cakes as well which can be ordered. The carrot cake is my personal favorite but I have had a slice that I haven’t loved. If you haven’t been, this is a must visit type of place.

These savory delicious desserts were worth my drive! I live in North Raleigh and heard wonderful things about the cakes! Well hunny chile the cakes are heavenly! The customer service from the counter was exceptional, what a well mannered respectful young man. The coffee condiment counter was pristine clean. The lobby was inviting and cozy. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are generous. You will be more than delighted. I shall return!

Weve tried 5 different flavors of cake (Lemon, Carrot, Red Velvet, 5 Flavors Pound Cake, and Pineapple). Everyone worth the $6.00. Also, the staff was very patient with us as we look a long time trying to decide which 5 to choose.

Had the red velvet cupcake. It was delicious and the cream cheese frosting was perfect. When you go to even smaller cake places, you can just tell they were made in a large batch. These cupcakes taste like my mom made them. Just great!

New to North Carolina and Came across this bakery food truck. I decided to attend a food truck event for Latin American and African American food trucks with my wife and kids in Cary at koka booth over the weekend. I was excited about trying food trucks in the area since we are new here. We got the neo, carrot cake and went back for a slice of the five flavor pound. Cake was very good. Flavorful and moist. My understanding is that it’s black owned bakery which I love to support. One thing that bothered me is it was 2 men at the truck one took my order. He was pleasant. Both times I went back that was another employee who was bald who was standing in the corner by the side of the front of the truck when I walked up the first time and the second time he was sitting in the back. Employee was not friendly or welcoming. I Nodded and smiled at him both times and he didn’t crack a smile or speak. I just want the owner to be aware of the type of employees that are representing there business. You have to be welcoming and nice to the customer because the customers are what makes the business successful with purchases. The employees you have standing out in front are a representation of your business.. I am hoping that this was just a bad day for the employee and will try the food truck again next time I see it. Hopefully the owner can give better training to their employees on how to treat and greet customers

Cupcakes look great, but taste TERRIBLE! Cake was beyond dry and didnt have any kind of taste. The icing was also hard on top. Dont waste your time or money!

I have been getting Favor Desserts cupcakes for a couple of years now and today picked up a layer cake. Their stuff is always rich and delicious. The beauty of their sweets is in the simplicity - you’re not going to get some artsy frilly cakes with no substance. You’re going to get a thick hearty cake with the perfect amount of frosting and the added bonus of supporting a local business that does a lot of good for the Durham community.

You cant go wrong with place. Great cakes, I love it.

The best cake Ive ever eaten! Super rich and moist; this very dense cake goes well with milk. And the frosting is out of this world! Especially the cream cheese frosting on the red velvet cake. The cake is expensive, but absolutely worth it! And if you come on Wednesday, the cupcakes are half price at $2 each! They live up to their slogan, Pound for pound, were the best in town! A true gem of Durham!

I ordered a pineapple cake with a birthday greeting 8 days in advance. When the date arrived, I called to see when I could pick it up. I was told that they could not make a pineapple cake until 2 days later (after the birthday) and could not write on it. I cancelled the order. They said I would receive a refund that same day. I did not. I emailed 13 days later again requesting a refund. In response, I got a call saying I would receive a refund that same day. I did not. I am still trying to get my money back. I now see based on other reviews that this customer no-service experience is not unique to me. Considered yourself forewarned!

I used to occasionally get single pieces of cake at Dulce, which is a very nice bakery. Someone told me this place had legit German chocolate cake though. I am obsessed with German chocolate cake and nobody else in Durham knows how to make it. Favor initially distressed me somewhat because I couldn’t figure out how to get what I wanted (every cake isn’t available every day). So I showed up and tried some other kinds of cake. Even cakes I’m not normally wild about are absurdly good. The German chocolate is a revelation. Why did I mention Dulce at the beginning? I used to think they had the best carrot cake ever and I didn’t figure it could be topped. I was wrong. A friend and I did blind taste tests. Seriously, this place is life changing. I don’t go to Dulce much anymore.

On top of having the best red velvet cake in the area I must brag about the service. I stopped by today (MLK Day) because I happened to be in Durham. It looked like they were closed. Dang it! Mr. Hester popped out the door to tell me they were closed but asked what I wanted (see above) and waved me in. THANK YOU! He did not have to do that, at all. Disappointment➡️gracious➡️satisfied. Thanks so much, Mr. Hester. I will keep singing the praises of the cake AND the service. Oh, and the 5 flavor pound cake is on point too! Go get you some.

I ordered a cake for my friend’s birthday based on the reviews and I was not disappointed. The carrot cake was beyond moist and everyone raved about it. The customer service was wonderful, too. I plan to use them from now on. And I will be going back to taste the other cakes soon. I can not recommend them highly enough!

Great pound cake!

Definitely some seriously good moist cake. The only thing I am not crazy about is the icing used on the cakes, I wish they were a bit less heavy and sweet. I loved the red velvet but wish it had the traditional cream cheese icing. Definitely check this place out and make sure to read about the owners story, it made me shed a few tears. I love supporting business like this!

I wish I read Isaac Linnartz review before stepping foot into the store. A word to the OWNER acknowledgement of error or miscommunication goes far regardless of FREE out of FRUSTRATION, customer service ISNT FREE! Your spirit can really put a damper on someones day. I might consider buying one sans icing, but probably not for $3.50.--Strawberry cake - fruity/jammy flavor, tasty. Not just a tsp of strawberry flavoring.--Lemon pound cake is really, nice, bright, lightly tangy. Would love a tiny loaf with a dainty stripe of icing. I opted to cut the lemon slice in half (top&bottom layers), the icing is sweet (gratfully not as sweet as white or pink icing) and a wedge of pound cake is rather substantial.Im wishing for less icing, on everything.--Carrot cake is one of my favorites... I have yet to try this one. I see huge nut particles and fine shreds of carrots. Saving it for this evening... followed by some kind of massive workout.I wish the prices and combinations were labeled. The counter clerk was very knowledgable, but with about 17 combos of the same 7 cakes and 3 icings that I lost track.Its nice a nice treat to buy something already baked, I understand you have to make a living, and I like supporting local businesses especially eateries... but $3.50 for a cupcake is the same cost as a whole box mix + can of icing. (I like to make from scratch, but its one way to compare)... or compare to a slice?I recommend Favor if youre looking for a cake or cupcake treat.

What a great place! Placed a custom order for a birthday cake - they were accommodating, friendly, and prompt over the phone. The base was red velvet: moist, yet maintained its integrity. The frosting was rich yet somehow light. Pickup was prompt and courteous. The birthday girl was thrilled! We plan to visit here again very soon and would recommend to anyone.

This bakery never ever disappoints. Finely made homemade style desserts. A variety of scratch made cakes are made here. The red velvet is out of this world. I also love the 5 flavor pound cake and lemon cake. All of the desserts are awesome. By far the best bakery in the Triangle for quality and authenticity.

Favor Desserts is my go to place for custom cakes. I have ordered several cakes there for various functions at our church. Whenever I place an order, the product is available on time and always looks and taste fabulous. I sometimes buy cakes by the slice. It is hard trying to decide which one to purchase because they all look wonderful. Best of all, I enjoy supporting a locally owned business. Kudos to Favor Desserts! I would have posted a picture of the cake, but there was not anything left!

The flavor of the cake I bought was okay, however, it did not taste fresh. It tasted as if it had been thawed out from frozen. Also, red velvet was the main flavor they had and every one does not like red velvet cake. Perhaps having flavors such as vanilla or strawberry always available would make for a better experience. The young lady working there said their flavor availability each day is random. I like to go into an establishment and know a few of the flavors they will have each day. I don’t plan to return to this establishment.

I have yet to try Keijuane (owner of the establishment) baked goods, but his character is a 10!! Thank you for taking time out of your day to help me change my tire :)

Hands down some of the best cakes/cupcakes around! My girlfriend loves german chocolate cake, and I can always depend on Favor to ensure I give her the very best cake possible! They sell by the slice also.

When you walk in, there is the best smell of fresh baked cakes and the employees always greet you with a smile. Ive thought about venturing out and trying new flavors, but the red velvet is truly unmatched. The $2 Wednesday cupcake special isnt too bad either!

I visit from Atlanta often and I was recommended to visit this shop to get the best cakes hands down and the people were not wrong. The five flavor cake reminded me of my great grandmother. The staff was friendly and the display case of foodies made it hard to make a decision. I will definitely make a detour again to try something new.

I was at the NC state fair today 10/19/19 and stumbled upon Keijuanes dessert stand. A young man working there sold me the last piece of pineapple cake. I was gravely disappointed after opening the container. I could LOOK at the bread part and tell it was dry. I proceeded to taste it and my assumption was correct. Very DRY not moist no taste. The reviews for this business are great and while I wasn’t impressed nor satisfied with a 7.00 slice of cake, I still wish him much success in his business.

This place has a sign out front that says it is a coffee shop, which it isnt really. They were happy to sell me a cupcake and a cup of coffee, and there was a place to sit, but it is clear that 99% of their business is people shopping for desserts, not stopping by to hang out. I enjoyed my delicious cupcake and left.

Moist, flavorful, rich, smooth, velvety. Red Velvet is so moist with the right balance of sweet and rich. The yellow cake is classic with a light eggy flavor that complements the vanilla flavors and chocolate frosting. The Italian Wedding is pretty sweet, but has a kind of nutty full flavor. The strawberry cake is also nice and berrylicious, not too sweet, with a nice mellow strawberry flavor. Careful though! Once youll go, youll start to crave it more and more!

BEST POUND CAKE EVER!!!!!! I would drive 30 miles from home to get that 5 flavor pound cake...the moment I put that first bite in my mouth my eyes closed...I was in heaven...it is truly to die for.....thank you Favor Desserts....
