It was an overall positive experience. Our Sales rep was new, so there were a few different things that could have gone faster like paperwork and questions. We were there for 8 hours due to our bank being a complete pain in the rear to work with. We first looked at a 2017 Sorento but that was not jiving with us. They showed us a 2015 Sorento Limited and we loved it. We negotiated the price and they came down in price but our bank declined the loan because the vehicle was 1 year too old. The dealership showed us a brand new 2022 Kia Soul LX that was in our price range. We fell in love with the vehicle and they negotiated the price a little bit for us. They offered us drinks and food while we were there and were very kind to us. Our Sales rep stayed with us the entire 8 hours and didnt step away to eat his lunch or anything even though we urged him to do so.I would totally buy another car from this dealership!

Let me tell you our story. Our car broke down while we were driving through town on our way back to GA. It ended up that our car needed an engine. So we were stranded. The University Kia team looked at our car at the end of the day. Determined the problem and in the end we decided to trade for new. They did us right on the trade-in value and we stayed at the hotel across the street. In the morning they let us look at all of their cars. We found a great deal for a slightly used model and were on our way. No one wants their vacation to end this way, but they made it the best experience it could be. Were grateful for their helpful attitude in our stressful time.

I highly recommend coming to this location! I worked with Ms. Sharon and I appreciate her so much. I was honest about what I wanted and liked that she didn’t try to pressure me into anything like other places. If you go there, definitely ask for her. The manager at that location was also really great and worked with my budget to get me the car that I really wanted. If I ever need a car again, I’ll definitely come back here!

Make sure if you plan on buying a used car through here that your title will no be from another state. I bought a used Kia Cadenza and I had a great experience at the time of the sale (go figure) but I am now heading into my 4th month without proper title or tags (purchased the car on 7/10/21) and every ounce of legwork Ive had to do on my own to inform them about my tag situation and to get clarification on the LEGAL thing to do in this case. Luckily my friend is a lawyer and is helping me navigate through these grey areas (and NC dealership laws) that Kia of Durham is okay with leaving me in.My issue is with the lack of follow up. Its been 4 months and the general manager, Aric Swanger, hasnt bothered to call me once AND unqualified people at Kia are telling me that it should be okay to drive. Show me where in the law it says that?? Im still searching...No one has been proactive in assisting me to find a legal solution to this title issue.

Everyone else at Kia was attentive, respectful, as intent on making a personal connection with a prospective customer as with making a sale. At least that’s how it felt. The salesman were very nice and patient I highly recommend getting a car from them they had a huge selection of cars and the facility is very nice too. Jerome the finance manger is awesome too he helped me with everything for my car I couldn’t ask for a better place to buy a car. Also very happy with my car as I walked out the door. What a great experience! Pa is the man!! He sold me the truck I bought from there. He gave me his word on the sale of the truck after I came to look at it set up the financing. Two other people came to buy the truck and he wouldn’t let anyone sell the truck because he gave me his word it would be there for when I come back for it. Also Jerome, I hope I’m spelling his name right, super great guy, finalized my paperwork, very professional and friendly. All around great buying experience! Go see these people and go talk to Pa!

We happened to be driving through Durham looking into getting a new car when we stopped by University Kia just to “look” We knew we wanted to get a car when we met Miss Sharon who we loved right away! She was incredibly helpful. I thought the car buying process would be tough but she changed my mind! She called us regularly to update us on a car we had preordered. Even on her days off she was checking in with us. The bar is set high for sales people for us from now on. I could go on and on about her and really, all of the staff we met at University. They really went above and beyond to make the process as seamless as possible. Beware of this dealership. They like to sell vehicles without inspections prior to sale being performed. Make sure you ALWAYS take it elsewhere to get inspected before buying. SHADY dealership and shady used car manager. Very rude. Horrible customer service. And the GM is always on “vacation”.

I had a very disappointing experience. I brought my Kia in for service because the car audio had been acting up (UVO radio was turning on but no sound was coming out of the speakers). I had debated taking my car into the dealership vs. a local car audio specialty shop. After months driving around without music, I finally decided to take my KIA in to this brand new dealership. I figured theyd be able to diagnose the issue for me. It took a few weeks to get on their schedule, but I made an appointment to drop my car off in the morning expecting to pick it up that same day with some form of resolution. The dealership is conveniently located and check-in was seamless. They even offer complimentary Lyft service which I didnt know about beforehand and didnt take advantage of. At around 4:45pm that afternoon, I received a phone call from the service advisor asking if they could keep my car overnight, that the technician had my car apart and needed additional time to complete the diagnostic work. Fortunately I was able to pick it up the following day but I was annoyed that I made an AM appointment and they didnt get around to my vehicle until the end of the day. The following morning, I received a text message stating my car was ready to be picked up, along with a link with the recommended work. I was dismayed to see that they were recommending to replace both the amplifier ($1154.47) and the radio ($1891.95) -- for a total of $3,046.42 for a car thats almost 10 years old!! I declined this service and picked up my car, and still had to pay nearly $200 for diagnostic work that really didnt reveal any new information, just that I should have taken my car to a car audio specialist rather than this dealership.

Ive read some of the other comments both good and not so good. However our experience could not have been better. (Except getting more $$ for our trade) Michael Bennett was extremely professional and enjoyable to work with from beginning to end of the transaction. I would ask anyone thinking of visiting the dealership to ask for Michael upon arrival if you want a no pressure experience or call ahead for an appointment. When we got to the final financial paperwork Jerome Johnson was the same. Offered coverage programs but again no pressure. He explained all of the required transactions and completed the paperwork in a thorough manner. When car shopping know what you want and are willing to pay for it! When you walk out of the dealership the purchase is yours.

Never take your car here to be serviced, I think everyone in the service department needs to take a customer service class! They have had my car for over a month and they haven’t even looked at it… and the answer I get is, you will have to continue to wait we will get to it when we do. Kia may want to look at providing Eric the service manger and Ken the general manager with some decorum classes.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE THEY FIND WAYS TO TAKE YOUR MONEY EVEN IF U HAVE WARRANTY! I had AAA run a battery test on my starter battery before getting it towed to kia they provided paperwork they text message showing my battery was in perfect condition and they assured me that nothing was wrong with my battery that it was a different underlying issue wrong with my car before having it towed to University of Kia in durham . I had my car towed there they had it for approximately a week now they told me this morning they working on it which is october 8 and that they should have the diagnostic check ready by today so i took initiative and went up there to kia to see if i can get my car back today within a couple of hours they told me my fuse was blown for hybrid system which made it stop working and that they replaced it considering it’s covered under warranty and than they had told me while they tried to update my hybrid system my starter battery had went out and that it was gonna cost them $390 to replace it they replaced it that was not right the battery was fine before getting it towed there seems to me they are desperate for money at the moment .

I dont even know where to begin. I will just say that the service department and GM needs a GRADE F!!!.. its the terrible customer service for me.. I posted a negative review yesterday and the GM told the service manager to called to tell me if I didnt take the review down that I need to pick up my car from them.... so I definitely took that as bullying so I removed my vehicle from KIA. I was only speaking the truth and my experience. My car has been there for a month and nothing was done to it. Every time I spoke to someone I was getting different info. I will never go back or recommend to anyone!

I order a part (online)on the 12th of Aug and paid for overnight shipping. Called on the 17th because I never received tracking. I was told that they were having website issues and couldnt process my order but she could do it manually over the phone. I was also told the part would take 5 days to get to there warehouse and then they can ship it over night to me. After confirming my order and getting assigned a new order number on the 20th I get an email that my order has been canceled. No explanation, no phone call nothing. Ive been without a car for over a week. Thank you for wasting my time.

I had a great experience here with Sharon as well as one the managers here. I was very nervous coming in - as it was my first car purchase.I came in prequalified through a lender and they were able to only have to check my credit ONCE and get me approved for the very first offer, it was within my price range, and for the car model that I wanted without a down payment. This is the worst place to take your car for service. I have been a KIA client since 2012 and I bought a Kia Rio and a Kia Niro from KIA back when they were located Durham downtown. They last time I went to get a full service, they emptied the oil but did not fill it back up. After a week or so of driving, I started hearing strange noises and I couldnt tell why. My car broke down in Chapel Hill and I towed it to a mechanic who told me it had no oil. Running on empty. They lost me and my family as clients. Kia Niro 2018 was the last car I ever bought from these crooks.

My story is ridiculous, I accidentally went to University Kia to test drive a car (that I had scheduled to drive somewhere else). I waltzed in expecting them to expect me, and they were so kind, and so helpful throughout the process. I didnt realize until 10 minutes in that I was not actually where my appointment was scheduled, because Michael was so kind, so ready to help me find what I was looking for, that it felt like I was in the right place! Turns out I was, as I drove home the exact car I was going to test drive somewhere else, and I got it for a better price and with better mileage. Everyone in every department was friendly and helpful, and working with the financing was clear and easy to understand. I learned that Michael was a new employee there, which was a surprise as its clear that he already knows his stuff, and must have an amazing community there helping him, he was wonderful. I have never bought from a dealership before, this was an awesome experience!

Very bad. Took car in knowing exactly what was wrong with it. Po420 code. All signs point to catalytic converter stopped up. They said it also had another code and fixed that issue. I went to drive it home and it was having the same issue. We asked did anyone test drive it after the repair and was told that they did. Must have only drove around the lot. Acceleration was almost nonexistent when I took it there and was exactly the same when I left. Charged almost 800 to fix something that wasnt the real issue. Yes it was an issue but not the real reason I took it there. I took it there to fix the catalytic converter issue because it was becoming too dangerous to drive due to lack of acceleration . I wouldnt be able to get out of the way if something was coming at me fast. Customer service was horrible as well. I will edit this post after my car is looked at again tomorrow. I will go into more detail about the customer service issue at a later date. This dealership sure has changed since they moved from Downtown Durham. Service people seemed more knowledgeable then. Horrible experience. Very unhappy customer. Lets see if this Dealership can change my feelings toward them! Time for an update. Now they tell me what I knew all along and told them to begin with. Now they want to charge another 1200 plus whatever else bogus fees for the problem that I knew the whole time. I am not a mechanic but I knew what the problem was exactly . I smell a swindle . Lets see what happens next. Stay tuned! Now they want to try and get it down to the part cost. Not acceptable. Take the 800 I gave for parts that wasnt the problem and subtract that from the total . and trying to get in touch with the general Manager is useless. When a customer wants to speak to the General manager that manager should not put it on to the service manager to try to sort it out. Come on. Be professional. Now I am being told that they have ordered the wrong part and it will be later this week when I finally get my car back! More updates coming soon!

Went in for some safety recalls and they kept the car for two days to then call me to get the car and wait for a call when they got the parts. Been two weeks and still no call. Why take my car if you didnt have the parts when i called weeks in advance? Terrible communication and service!

The salespeople are very nice. They treat everyone with courtesy, which is the bare minimum that any sales place should have: courteous sales people. I would advise everyone going here do their homework, print out numbers from the website and compare models online before jumping into a purchase. Make sure you’re well hydrated, come alone or with your co-signer. Don’t bring your kids and definitely don’t come hungry or at the end of the day. Be firm about what you’re willing to spend and be willing to walk away when the numbers don’t add up. Have your percentage rate and bank pre-approval lined up before walking in.My daughter just compared a car sales contract to Ariel and Ursula’s contract in The Little Mermaid: all Ariel wanted was to live above the surface, have legs, marry the prince. Ursula wanted her voice. She wrote up a super long contract with tons of fine print and took advantage of Ariel’s distress, glossing over certain parts of the contract to get what she wanted: Ariel’s signature and her voice. Sure, Ariel got her legs and got to be human, but at what cost? It worked out for her in the end, though. We’ll see if this prince turns into a frog.And I totally get that it’s not a sales person’s job to go through every part of a contract. I definitely feel cheated. I don’t think I’ve ever had an honest car sales experience though. It is what it is.I definitely won’t come here again. Be aware that they only care customer satisfaction as far as you walking out the door. We were incredibly happy walking out the door. Once you get home, you’re on your own unless it’s a mechanical failure. There is no satisfaction guarantee.

I have ben using this dealership for service only for about 18 months and LOVED the way the service department is ran and the way they treat the customers. I was well taken care of. This prompted me to use the sales department as I traded a Telluride for a nicer Telluride and the process was very smooth and I was treated very well by everyone on that side of the business. No one walks through the area without greeting you and asking of your needs. Sharon and Aric were outstanding through the process of purchasing my car and ordering and delivering my new one. I would never Recommend this company to No one based on the experience I received. On professional-level there representative are unprofessional . I waited on a call back from Mr. Cook and to this day I never received that call back. And I called several times with no response from someone. As we arrived on the lot for our scheduled test drive, we watched a salesperson show a Telluride they have on the lot to a family, nobody cleaned the vehicle in between, and this was the same vehicle they then showed to us. The salesperson also insisted on accompanying us during the test drive. We had just started our search for a new vehicle, so didnt know the COVID etiquette or regulations. Every other vehicle dealer we saw that same day handed us a newly cleaned vehicle to drive and the dealer policy was to not allow their staff to ride along with prospective buyers.

I scheduled an appointment to have my Sorento serviced today (10/30) about 2 weeks ago. My appointment was for 7am. I dropped my car the day prior (10/29) so that my car was there, waiting for service (oil change and to have my sunroof tracks lubricated). 👍🏽At 12:53pm I called to check the status of my service but no one was available in service to take my call. 😒At 3:09pm I received a text and email (not a phone call) with a link to review the inspection (a part of the basic oil change) asking me to accept or decline the recommended services. 🧐Lets spend a second hear...are we that far removed from customer service in the world that now the SERVICE center doesnt even pick up the phone to call customers? 🤔I immediately call to inquire if this email/text indicates that my car is ready to be picked up. Im told it is in fact not ready. After having been there now 8 hours....service is still not complete. Im told theyll call me when its ready. 😒At 5:49pm I get a TEXT stating YAY my car is finally ready. 😠The service center closes at 6pm. Again, I hop on the phone..I attempt to reach someone 3 times before Ariel finally picks up the phone. I advise her that Im in receipt of this TEXT...because apparently customer avoidance is key at this dealership, and that Im aware that they close at 6pm...so what are the options for me to pick up my car? She tells me shell be in tomorrow (Saturday) @ 7am and I could come then. Ummm...see Ariel...you all have had my car for going on 24 hours now. 🤬Me picking it up the next day isnt gonna work. So she tells me I can pay over the phone and shed leave my keys with the Sales staff. I agree. I traipse myself to the dealership during Friday evening traffic and go to the Sales area. Salesman asks if he can help me, I tell him why Im there. Of course, my keys arent where Ariel told me theyd be. 😡After a few minutes, they locate my keys and the salesman walks me out the door. Me, confused at this point, asks the guy if he knows where my car is? He hits the key and says its beeping back over there...I laugh to myself and take off walking back to the other side of the building towards the service area where I dropped my car off 23.5 hours ago. I will not be back. Unless Im in the most dire of straits that my car cant make it to another dealership...I vow to never return to University Kia of Durham. And this wasnt even the first time Ive had my car serviced there but this lack of customer service/communication was enough to turn me off completely. I wouldnt recommend anyone that values their time, money or vehicle take their car here.

My issues with UNIVERSITY KIA goes way beyond like or dislike. The inspection of my 2005 KIA Sedona indicated that the minivan needed a front Caliper replacement on the drivers side. A brake fluid flush and hood hydraulics replacement. A few days later it is mentioned that the ABS Module may need replacing. I was never given a cost estimate or an invoice indicating repair cost, labor cost or any explanation of why this problem wasnt determined during the original inspection. After taking the vehicle to another experienced auto care service. It was determined that a problem with the Master Cylinder was the cause for the ABS Module failure. It was also determined that the driver side Caliper never needed replacing because it was never activated by the ABS Module in the first place. The pads had never closed on the rotor. Also; when the brake pedal was applied, neither the driver side front or rear tire would stop turning. KIAs service department was very concerned about me signing a release of responsibility form. To show that they realized how dangerous the vehicle was. But that didnt stop them from charging me $800 plus for a repair I didnt need. Be very careful when dealing with UNIVERSITY KIA, 5105 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd. You are literally putting your life and those you love in their hands.

I visited awhile back looking for a new car, initially everyone was nice and eager to help. Then the saleswoman had another client and she quickly passed me onto someone else. That was fine until the next person I worked with was uninterested and very unhelpful. I wanted a brand new car and he kept trying to push an older model on me that seemed to be on the lot for awhile. As we began to talk he was short and impatient and seemed over the situation. He even wanted me to sign a promissory note that I’d buy the car if he could get me the deal I wanted. It seemed shady and odd and once I said no he sent his boss over and left. It was completely unprofessional.

I brought my car in for service early this morning without an appointment, and was given a very friendly greeting, and was instantly made to feel very welcome. I was offered a complimentary ride to and back from my residence once the work was done, and I was given regular text updates throughout the entire process. The work was quickly completed, for a very efficient price. This has been the best car care experience Ive ever had, and the technician I dealt with, Eric, has been a real pleasure to work with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND university kia of durham to ANYONE!!!! This place is very SHADY AND MISLEADING. During the test drive with Kim we noticed the car had several spots of chipped paint and even a few scratches so we asked for a discount. Kim told us that they could fix it there but that it would cost a lot or we could just go to an auto store and fix it ourselves for less... On top of not wanting to give us a good deal, I made it clear to Kim that I did not want any extended warranty so when she sends me to the finance manager, Terrence Joseph why does he start talking about a coverage package?!?! When I mention to Terrence that I told Kim I did not want any extended warranty, Terrence tells me that with the warranty he was able to get us a lower interest rate and that without it our interest rate would have been doubled. But, why didnt he ask us if we wanted this before just adding it on?!?! Whats worse, Terrence did not tell us our new total with the warranty. Which added on $4000 to the total.... If you cant be upfront with your customers then you DONT CARE about your customers!!!!

I purchased my car from University Kia in Durham 2 years ago. Although I purchased a home in Burlington NC with another Kia dealership a few miles from my house I continued my commute to Durham because they were amazing until recently. I recently was scheduled for oil change and was surprised with the new change in pricing ($70) when I asked why the price hike it was explained that they needed to increase the price because they were one of the lowest around. I looked at the Burlington NC location and explained that the price was lower and could he could not compare because they use cheaper oil. I called the Burlington NC office and explained that they used the same oil and it would only be 39.95. Disappointed I turned to the sales associate who I believed name was Chad and explain that I was disappointed that he lied to me. He yelled and explained that he didnt do it intentionally he was told by someone that previously worked at the shop and transferred to the Durham location. He was annoyed that I asked for my keys back and I left! But not as angry as I was that I had to drive 45 minutes back to Burlington. Needless to say Kia in Burlington serviced my car the same day with no issues!I would highly recommend that you go elsewhere for service. Although the facility is more glamorous and they offer beverages it is not worth the price hike, lies and HORRIBLE customer service.

Absolutely amazing experience. Came in on a Saturday to look and drive a stinger. Me being 19, it’s common for some dealerships to “ignore” or not pay attention to me when looking at a higher priced vehicle. Never once did any of the salespeople or managers doubt my seriousness in driving off with a stinger. We negotiated numbers and they were a little more than I was wanting to spend so I walked out the door. I called other kias and durham seemed to be the best bet especially since this model had the sunroof. Came back in on Monday and worked out the deal with Darcel.
