Great service from Tom and Lynn! After studying the listing on a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible for several months, I made the decision to have it thoroughly inspected with the plan to buy it and have it shipped to Houston. The condition of the car was very good - just as described - and I started the process of purchasing it. Tom and Lynn were very responsive throughout the purchase. I would happily do business with ADM again.
Watch out before buying anything. Cars are mostly restored to look good to sell quick. Shiny paint and new tires distract from unrestored or broken parts of the car. You might be lucky but with most cars you can expect to spend a good amount of money to restore them to become reliable cars that are safe and fun to drive. It is a few years back when I bought a car there, so I know what I am talking about. Engine blew up soon after the purchase and mechanically the car was in scary condition and dangerous to drive. All the things that you wont see in the showroom....Lets hope they improved since then, but as you can see, my frustration is still there. Bringing along an expert to make a independant check is an absolut must. Dont trust things like car went through a detailed inspection checklist which was performed by our experts, if they still do still do this.
I have had my 1967 corvette for a couple of weeks now. I cannot thank the entire ADM team for the guidance and assistance during the buying process. Facetime and emails kept me informed as the car was being prepped. The condition of the car was spot on as your described. I took my the car to my local mechanic, so he could get familiar with it, and they gave it an A+. Convertible in the fall, not many things better!!
You have to check this place out its a museum. Its a treasure to have in Des Moines Iowa.
Just wanted to thank everybody in sales and the dream team im very pleased with the way you guys run a tight ship I bought my triple black 1970 dodge charger and won my first show I recommend ADM to anyone looking for there dream car if I could I would give everyone 6 stars thank you all so much you made my dreams come true
This was a store downtown that I personally blocked that out of I. knew It was a elite club type store. yet riding a bus i
Awesome place, great people, fantastic cars!
A truly exceptional experience! The vehicle I was interested in was less than a perfect 10 in restoration, and Toms description of it was perfectly accurate. Tom and Lynn were extremely straightforward and pleasant to deal with. When I flew down to look at it, I was so pleased to see that it was exactly what it has been advertised to be. Their no-pressure, no gimmick approach was refreshing. They did exactly what they said they would prior to delivery, and it showed up at my house in exactly the condition promised, and precisely the day it was promised. Buying this 45 year old vehicle was many times more enjoyable and hassle free than any of the new ones Ive purchased. Look forward to doing business with them again!
A special shout out to Doug and his wife Julie. They are amazing people. Thank you so much for having your doors open on Sunday during the art festival so people could come in and cool off. I want to personally thank you for the chair and water has I came in with my husband ready to pass out. As we say in Texas, Yall are good people. (Your cars are amazing too)
Very nice staff. Had no problem with me looking around. Wish I had the cash to buy a car or two (not that they were over priced).
YES! These Cars Are as Beautiful as they appear in the Photos.I was a little hesitant to purchase a Classic Car Online but The Helpful Staff at ADM made it very easy.Tom and Jim answered all my questions and told me Exactly what The Car was and more importantly what it was Not.Nancy worked tirelessly to get my paperwork complete and Doug gave me a dealI couldnt refuse I would Highly recommend ADM to be The first place you go when purchasing a classic.
Great cars
Bought a 74 Cadillac from ADM and ran it through my local dealership for the proverbial once over where it quickly became the belle of the ball in the shop...The most senior of techs recognized (30+ years in the business) the quality of restoration to factory standards and found nothing wrong that they could fix ... Am proud to say the (very major) dealerships owner and his Son even found their way to take pictures with this amazing car... ADM does great work....
A great destination downtown! They have several grand, classic cars and hold an open house during the Des Moines Arts Festival. Check it out if youve never been.
I have stopped in to ADM on 3 different occasions and the salesman was very friendly. Especially considering I am merely a tire kicker that enjoys the old classics. Someday I will have the means to purchase some good old American Muscle and I will definitely return to ADM to check out their inventory
Friendly salesman spent time explaining everything about anything I had questions about. I was impressed with the overall layout of the location and the staff. Theyve got my nod for future business.
A great place to visit and they have very cool vehicles.
I want to thank the team at American Dream Machine for their outstanding customer service. They went above and beyond for me when I was in need of their service. They are professional, kind, and communicate great. I hope I get to work with them again in the future and would refer anyone to them.Thank you American Dream Machine for your excellent customer service!
I came here last Fall for a visit and to just check the place out. The staff were very friendly and professional. Even now they knew I was window shopping, they still treated me with respect and dignity. Much appreciated!
Everything looks so unique and old fashioned, I love how clean the body shop is and i love how they work
American Dream Machines, wow, what can we say... from start to finish everyone, and i mean everyone, was awesome! Tom the salesperson, was great, he took the time to show us various cars we were interested in with no pressure, let us think about it and even let us look at the car up on the lift. We came to an agreement on price, discussed wheels and tires and a couple of details that needed done. Lynn in the office did a great job as well . She helped us with paperwork and pictures for our insurance company. We got one of our dream cars, a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 in Forest Green with black stripes, and it is it an amazing car!!! The guys in the shop were friendly, knowlegable and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about American Dream Machines. Looking forward to doing more business with them in the future!
I want to thank American Dream Machines for a wonderful classic car shopping experience! I’ve been interested in purchasing a classic convertible for some time now and, compared to the selection at other shops I’ve visited, ADM’s collection and variety is seriously impressive. Their well-kept shop and helpful crew effectively create the approachable, enjoyable atmosphere I look for when shopping for classic cars. I trust the Dream Team’s advice, appreciate their transparency, and I would recommend their Dream Machines to anyone in the market for a fun and timeless automobile.

Great place to check out some classic cars
I cannot rate the service, care and patience of ADM highly enough, and in particular the dedication of Nancy and Tom. They are simply wonderful people, and such an asset to this great company. You may be able to find great cars elsewhere, but you wont find service and care like this!
Excellent experience. I purchased a 1967 Camaro from American Dream Machines in June of 2016. I had been looking for quite some time after selling my 69 Pro-touring Camaro. I was used to checking their webpage to see what new classics they had in stock and when I ran across a BEAUTIFUL red 1967 RS/SS convertible, I knew that I just had to have it. Before shipping it to Florida, ADM technicians ran the car through their rigorous inspection, repaired typical items these old classics have, and even installed a few extra parts that I requested. I knew that I was getting a top-notch car after the inspector I hired to do an evaluation gave me a positive report. To that end, I would NOT hesitate to purchase another classic from American Dream Machines.Signed: A VERY happy Florida customer!
Ive never bought a car from Doug.Ive never been to Des Moines.I dont know anyone connected to the car business. But these folks are clearly a notch above. When I see an owner replying, in a polite and direct manner, just two days after a complaint is posted, and the guy has TWO, LENGTHY, videos explaining over and over that these are OLD cars and will have OLD CAR PROBLEMS, and its ultra-clear that these cars go through significant overhauls to make them road friendly and look phenomenal ... well if this folks want to charge thousands more than the common price well its crystal clear that are easily able to justify that value.I just fing hate it when good people get bashed for being great and dare to want to be paid for it.Read the Hotrod Kansas below ... the guy sells them a car, presumably not by gunpoint, they work on a car, put some money into it, and sell if for double - and this guy says, what, theyre dishonest? Please. LOL.And the owner replies ... says this is a business, hiding nothing.Good. Charge triple next time.
Amazing collection of vintage automobiles!
I had been looking for a 1967 Camaro for quite some time (31 yrs). I contacted American Dream Machines via email after I saw a car I liked on their web site. I quickly got a response from Doug and he got me in touch with Tom. Tom gave me all the details on the car and could not have been more helpful. I was then called a day later by Lynn asking if I had any other questions. I never felt pressured. I asked Lynn for a local independent inspector who could appraise the car. Lynn turned me on to Randy Jones. Randy got in right away and picked through the car from top to bottom. Randy found the car to be in as good a shape as they had told me. I then flew to Des Moines, IA to see the car. Lynn even met me at the airport and drove me to the shop. Everyone was great and they gave me all the time I wanted to inspect the vehicle. We came to terms and they coordinated delivery of the car to me. The delivery was flawless and I now have my 1967 Camaro Nickey to enjoy. The entire experience with American Dream Machines was great. I feel I got a great value and they went above and beyond to help me without ever pressuring me. I loved the entire experience. This was my first time ever buying a car like this but if I ever do it again I would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks to the whole team at American Dream Machine for the great experience and great car!
Very nice Classics they are very friendly to people who come in to just took at the cars.
I would have given less if it was possible. My experience is bad. Although it’s now about 9 years ago I made my buy I still recognize the way they advertise the cars. I bought my car from overseas, unfortunately unseen based on the information they provided. I know what you think and I agree, I have to blame myself for not inspecting the car on site before buying. I trusted them as they gave me an impression of professionalism, I was stupid, don’t be fooled. After the car landed I realized ALL the pics I didnt get or asked for, and it didnt sell cheap. They claimed things completely untrue, I’m still amazed this company exists and get this high ratings. The floor which should have been welded the correct way was not welded at all but fixed with glass fiber mat as reinforcement because the steel was so thin. A lot of lies about the car, a strong 350 engine was a tired 327, the transmission had issues, the new convertible top was incorrect installed (diagonal issue), one rear mono-leaf spring was broken made the car dangerous, windows scratched, rusted control arms, rust on the subframe and more...Their cars looks good but as in my case they seemed not having any problems add a 7000 $ paint job on a rotten car and I believe this may still be a risk you might take. How often do they show pics under the cars and in details, check yourself? I would look to buy a Californian car today instead, lesson learned.Based on my learnings I would say you better be careful, NEVER buy a car from them without physically inspect it by yourself. AND never trust their statements, make your own inspection and research. A strong ADVISE.
Nostalgic cars! Oh yeah
They do a great job restoringold cars
I love this place.
Tom/Doug,I normally don’t do this but I wanted to tell you how pleased I am with the 1968 GTO convertible I bought a few weeks ago. I got the timing and carburetor adjusted for the 5000 ft. altitude in Denver and it runs like a top. I have only driven it around town up until today when I decided it was time for a short road trip into the mountains. I was amazed at the handling going around corners and up and down steep grades. It was far superior to my original 1968 GTO that I bought in 68. It purred like a kitten but looks like a lion. It is truly a great ride and I thank you for your fair evaluation on the phone and all the pictures you sent. I will certainly refer others to you and when the time comes for another American Dream Machine I will contact you.Again, I appreciate you and your staff being fair and honest with me during the process of buying this vehicle. All staff members I talked to, Paint and Body, Mechanics, Nancy and her husband and of course Tom where very informative and sincere in wanting to answer my questions. Thanks again for allowing me to enjoy some automotive history.Hugh M. HuxtableArvada, Colorado
