This is the best shop I’ve EVER been to. My headlights weren’t working so I started calling around. Megan picked up and said she could get me in if I brought it over. They found I needed some new bulbs and also let me know my back wheel bearings were shot so we just fixed all of it! The best part was that I got the car back the same day! They’re super nice people, very affordable, they even gave me a ride from the shop to my house after I dropped the car off! I would highly recommend to anyone needing repairs or maintenance.

Stay away from this shop!!! Insanely OVERPRICED!!! I had my car there for 4 days didnt get any phone calls or text about whats going on. Meghan lied that she did call me!! I just wanted water pump gasket changed but the charged me $450 just for looking at it. Never ever doing business with them. Brought my car to different shop got it back in 2 days. They charged me $150 just for putting a blown fuse.. Garbage Service

We were road tripping from Chicago to Omaha, NE and my transmission failed in Dekalb, IL. We called AAA who towed us to Motor Works and we couldn’t have been more grateful for the suggestion. Megan and Peggy at Motor Works went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help ensure we were taken care of, comfortable, and even helped find us a rental car to get us home safely. One of our passengers rode to Motor Works in the tow truck, 2 of us stayed at the rest stop where the car broke down(tow trucks can only have 2 passengers, we had 3 people in our group). As soon as they walked into Motor Works, Peggy insisted on coming to pick up the rest of our group from the rest stop so we could all be together and wait to hear about the car. They are a very busy shop (understandably with their customer service) who made sure they could inspect my car that day, and try to get us back on the road in a timely manner. Megan gave us advice, did research on her own accord, and let us know that the car was under warranty still and it was a warranty issue - which we didn’t even think about with the initial stress of having a broken down car on a road trip. They let us hang out in their lobby for a majority of the day until a rental car was ready for us. When the time came for the rental car, Peggy, once again, packed up all of our bags and drove us to Enterprise where we were able to get a rental and get back home safely. We could have sat and sulked about the fact that my new cars transmission failed, and the process could have been (and usually is) so much more stressful. Thanks to Megan, Peggy and the rest of the crew at Motor Works, the day turned out to be one of the best, if not the ABSOLUTE best customer service experience we have ever had. We were so lucky to have found them, and we are forever grateful for everything they did for my family. 1000/10 would recommend this company to anyone with car troubles or just routine maintenance.

Megan and the team got me right in, in an emergency situation. The communications was excellent, their use of apps and messaging is excellent. They are a very good operation and I would highly recommend.

When I say I would recommend, I really mean it! Everyone at Motor Works was so nice and knowledgeable, they made me feel really assured and cared for. I originally went to the Dealer to get a diagnostic and felt really sketched and wanted a 2nd option. I saw that Motor Works had good reviews and boy do they deserve them! They were able to debunk some previous recommended repairs that I had doubts about as well and they ended up helping me save over $1000 in repairs! They even caught other things that needed to be repaired when the Dealer didnt. They were honest as well since I did end up needing a Turbo replacement, they ended up being more expensive than the Dealer on the Turbo and even recommended I get it done there to save money regardless. And I got my car back in basically 24 hours for full engine repairs! I will forever be taking my cars there as well as my Classic cars since they do seamlessly beautiful Restorations! Cant wait to bring my SuberBee in for an updated suspension. Thank you so much Megan and the whole team at Motor Works!

This place is probably the best mechanic/repair shop I’ve ever been too. After some horrible experiences with Chevy it’s refreshing to have a local place to go that’s as honest and hardworking as they are. They’ve even dropped me off at the doctors office since I was scheduled to get an oil change the same day. Amazing staff all around, cannot compliment this facility enough on how it’s ran.

I bought a 2022 Subaru. They put a trailer hitch on the new car. They did an excellent job. I would recommend Motor Works to anyone who cares about their car.

I’m very fortunate to have found Motor Works so close to me (50 miles). Mark has done a fantastic job on my Spitfire really taking the time to explain what he was doing and why. Not many people that will say they can work on these older cars that really know them. Sure their just nuts and bolts, but it seems Mark not only knows what he is doing but is enthusiastic about doing it. No high pressure salesmanship either. Basically here is all I found and what it will cost, then “these are the items” you’ll want to address sooner vs. later. I stopped by here after a part on my exterior came loose. I hadnt used them before and when I came in, they were incredibly polite and pleasant. They found the problem, fixed it, and got me back on the road in 10 minutes. Definitely the best service in Dekalb I have had.

Broke down on the interstate at nearly mid- night. Had us on the road home by noon. Recommended by the motel clerk. Their work solved a problem we had been having checked into for 4 months on/off.

Motor Works is amazing. I have a European car that the oil changes are very over priced for at the dealership. They did the oil change for a very reasonable price and did an inspection on my car to let me know if there were any issues with anything else. Battery needs to replaced and I have already scheduled them to do that. I would highly suggest using them for you vehicle needs.

My daughter had a check engine light on in her car so I searched around for somewhere to take the car. I read the good reviews online about MotorWorks so I decided to take it there. They truly lived up to the reviews. Megan is amazing!! The customer service she provided was excellent! Once the car was repaired she processed us out and gave my daughter a detailed overview of the health of her car as well. I will definitely be doing business with them crom now on. I been out here in dekalb for 9 years out of every car I had I have always went to them but this time I decided to let them do the work on my van I love the fact on how they do they inspection that’s why I always recommend people to go too them cause no matter what’s wrong with your vehicle they gonna find the problem when I say I had other shops check a problem on my van and they claim they fix it in and up massing something else up when I say Motor work got my van up and riding good like new I love it. Just really genuinely nice people. They went above and beyond on my car. I brought it in basically knowing it needed a new engine and they thought so as well but instead of treating it as a chore they did everything they could to figure it out and still offered to get a quote on the repair. Not only did they not try screw me over, they genuinely helped so much. I can’t recommend them enough. Especially if you drive a German car, they know what they’re doing.

This shop is busy which is a great thing! I don’t want to take my car to a shop that has little going on. There’s reasons Motor Works is busy. They’re polite, conscientious, detail oriented, thorough, and down to earth. They may not be the least expensive shop, but I don’t mind paying for value.

I had these guys work on my 1971 MGB - so you know I must trust them a lot - but I also had them do some overdue maintenance on my F150. They did excellent work on both, very professionally and for a fair price. I especially like that they document everything with photos in an online record for my future reference.

For the past several cars that Ive owned (many years), Motor Works has been my preferred choice for any repairs or aftermarket part installation. Theyre friendly, reliable, and honest. More than once, they quickly spotted a simple fix and charged little or even nothing to handle it, when other repair shops wouldve recommended expensive replacements. The only downside is theyre not always great at calling when works done, so you need to call them for status.

I really like how they printed out a breakdown of the things that they checked, and even included pictures of the sway bar link and air filters and etc.

I know when I bring my car into Motor Works its always going to get done right the first time. Ive been to a ton of other places to have my car worked on and I feel the most comfortable with Motor Works. Always reliable and honest . Megan will let you know what you need and what you can hold off on. she is a pleasure to work with. They may be a little higher in price than some other places but you know youre going to get the job done right the first time and theres no playing around

About two years ago my wife and I moved out to DeKalb to be near the grandchildren. My experience is previous to motor works have not been too good... Place is telling us that we needed this or that and charging us for things that we didn’t need. All that has changed at motor Works. They are a local family owned family run Small business that really looks out for their customers. The service is exceptional. They charge a fair price and are quick to let you know What maintenance needs to be done for safety if any and what we need to do down the road in the future eventually And why. I feel like I have a mechanic in the family.

They are always pleasant and easy to discuss your car problem with. You get a clear understanding of what they will do and they do it. They were good about calling me and had the car ready when they said they would. I was very pleased and I would recommend them to anyone!

They gave a complete explanation of what they fixed and even included pictures to show why it needed to be fixed. I was really impressed with the layout of how to approve work via a link they texted me. I don’t usually use car mechanics as my dad does most of my car work but I was definitely impressed.They did say my car would be ready a day earlier then it was and I had to call them to find that out but with it being the same week that businesses reopen post pandemic I’m sure they are very busy.

We received a thorough inspection and explanation WITH pictures of the engine. I was an hour away from home with a car that wouldn’t start. I called my mechanic to triage and give me his thoughts on what the problem might be. After a quick online search and a referral from Tri City Towing, I ended up at Motor Works. They were extremely friendly and accommodating. They gave me an estimate in line with what my mechanic said and did the work within the timeframe they estimated.

Absolutely awful.I took my van there for a battery cable replacement and got new battery connectors instead.They looked over my vehicle for an inspection and stripped the caliper bolt, put it on and sent me on my way.During my visit, the labor rates changed constantly. Anyone who knows, knows that the labor rate should be flat not variable.My poor mother-in-law took her car in for a coolant leak and a water pump. They did great on the pump but didnt fix her leak. They even said they pressured tested but clearly did not.Poor customer service, when I called and complained they wouldnt even take responsibility and gave me attitude.I will never go there again or recommend them.The women who works the front is the daughter of the original owners and is not homest or professional.Worst experiemce ever.You will probaly have better, more honest results from a dealership or somebody on craigslist.Do not waste your time or money. They do not deserve it.

My 2005 Prius needed a new hybrid battery, a very expensive repair. Before we decided to go through with that, the techs at Motor Works looked over the entire vehicle to see if any other repairs would be needed. The front suspension and transmission seal needed work, plus several smaller issues. It was quickly apparent that it wouldn’t be worth it to invest that kind of money in such an old vehicle, and Dan Kedzie, the technician I talked to, agreed that it might be best to start looking for a new car.I appreciate that Motor Works was honest in their assessment and recognized that repairing this car wouldn’t be a good use of my money. That is the kind of business that focuses on what is best for the customer, not what will make a quick buck today. I will be taking my next car to Motor Works before I buy and would recommend you do the same.

Amazing people there! Our college-aged daughter was driving home to Nebraska from a weekend in Chicago on an extremely hot day, when her car began to overheat. Her phone was not working correctly but she could text us. We were able to call AAA for her and they recommended Motor Works as an approved service center. We called them and told them the situation. Being they were only a few miles away, they offered to go pick her up so she did not have to wait in the heat for an hour for the tow truck. They got her car a short while later and quickly diagnosed the problem. The car needed new water pump and it was mid-afternoon by then. However, Megan asked the tech to stay late to get it installed for her, which they did and our daughter was back on the road by early evening. Having your young adult daughter so far away, in what was a scary and new situation for her, as a parent is so stressful. The kindness, professionalism and care the staff at Motor Works showed her was truly appreciated, not to mention the quick repair of her car. I am not sure we will ever get back to this place but we certainly thank Megan and all the kind people who work there. You made a bad situation a little easier! Highly recommend them!!

But boy was I wrong ends up that my engine locked up unfortunately I just bought this car. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, very good at explaining things, courtesy pickup, reasonable rate, no charge for inspection/scan/look over. (Most places will charge you an hour of labor just to hook up a professional scanner.) They charge a solid 20 bucks for an oil change !!!!! This tripped me out, Ive been spending a fortune on oil changes, wow. Everything they have quoted me has been far beyond reasonable. They made my truck run much better made some misc fixes and gave a very good rundown of what I may want to do to it. No persistent insisting on every kind of service they offer like some places, they are really about helping you and your vehicle. I have some automotive knowledge, and have overheard many of there conversations, and let me tell you, they know what they are talking about and they wont rip you off. Also, they are very entertaining to listen to, haha. Very sociable and fun. I dare you to find a better place to bring your car. Once again, I was very happy about the bill and got my better running truck back!Fantastic !!! THIS is the place to go.
