I went to Sergeant Peppers starting a few years ago based upon a friends recommendation, and AAA. Whenever I have had an issue with my vehicle, theyre able to take a look at it quickly, give me an estimate and choices (New parts, used parts, junk yard parts), whether or not I want everything fixed or just enough to get it road worthy.I dont know what the issue was with the other places - Ive had Ray actually show me the parts that were wrong with my car, not vague at all. I recommend all my friends and family members to go here; your car will be fixed at a fair price.
This guy is terrible. I was pretty sure I was being overcharged for a diagnostic, and when I asked for more explanation about his findings he just threw the paper at me and told me to read and wouldnt explain anything. Also the paper said the axel is broke which is not clear at all, so when I asked for more clarification he said hes been in this business for 60 plus years and doesnt need to explain it. When it became quite clear that I was unhappy, he actually wouldnt accept my debit card as payment and made me go find an ATM and get cash. Overall he was extremely rude and Im pretty sure he was just yanking me around because Im a single young woman. As an addition... I later decided to google the problem he quoted me for. He claimed the axle needed replacing, and a quick google search revealed that that should cost somewhere between 600-800 for my car, including the typical cost of the part and labor. He quoted me above 1500$. Look, I can see if maybe it may be a bit more than a quick google search but for Gods sake not 700-900 more. This guy is a total scam. Avoid at all costs. If my car broke down in front of his shop I would pay to have it towed elsewhere.
This place is approved by AAA so I had my car towed there on their recommendation as Im from out of the area. I will give them credit for working on Saturday so I could get back on the road. However, they wouldnt answer any of my questions about what went wrong (my transmission dumped its fluid) or if there were any other parts that I should have looked at or replaced to prevent a similar breakdown again. The owner seemed more interested in playing used car salesman on a car he had out back than auto mechanic. I highly dont recommend.
They are extremely unprofessional and horrible to work with. I would never use them again. They lie, cheat, are extremely expensive and yell at you when you ask them to explain what they worked on with your vehicle. they will tow your vehicle with an unregistered golf cart on a public street which is illegal. they hold your vehicle for ransom unless you pay in cash which they never explained up front. I do not know how they stay in business the way they take advantage of you. Even the local authorities recommend reporting them to the better business bureau.Bottom line they are crooks.
I was in Davenport visiting from Florida when my car started making a loud noise. I took it here and they changed a front axle. It was done quickly and very reasonably priced.
The owner is incredibly rude and treated me like I was trying to scam him! His mechanics disconnected my speedometer while doing electrical work. I understand that mistakes happen but just admit it and dont treat your customers like idiots. He actually said to me, How do I know your speedometer wasnt broken before? Really? Would I really be driving around with a broken speedometer? Im still not even sure what the mechanics did. They were incredible vague when talking to them and on the invoice. The only reason I took it there is because AAA told me they were an approved shop! Do NOT take your vehicle there.
He was very rude and disrespectful. Never recommend these guys ever again that’s for sure!
Sergeant Peppers always does a good job for me.
Wouldnt trust my vehicle with anyone else.
