Visited from out of town and LOVED visiting this locally owned music shop. Great selection of band merch: r shirts and stickers are my thing and they had a lot to pick from that isn’t just your typical find. Their Original merch is fantastic too!!

Im making this based on an experience here. The previous review was not of my making.Some counter troll makes me put my merch on said counter, so I can see what shirts are in, upon returning its gone, some other people took it and bought it apparently. Only copy left...Thankfully, found it new online for dollars less. But I would rather not go through an experience like that. 😕A guy I worked with who frequents magnolia, recommended this place to me for metal, so 🤷

Make sure you have time to spend. Large selection of band shirts, CDs, and vinyl. Vinyl is not largley categorized by genre, so make sure you dig through all the sections.

I buy the CD here. Man behind the counter like car salesman. Girl behind counter, so weird.Other man behind counter rude, acts like angry toad. Outside homeless people try to take my soda. But I got the CD here. No one else had the CD. Other girl behind counter, needs a hug. She look sad. Thank you for having the CD. I can listen to the CD now. But, ah, where are the thunderpussies, and magnolias? I do not understand.

We went to look for specific albums, but we had so much fun looking through what was there, it didnt even matter that what we wanted wasnt in stock. Bonus points for having a Morphine tag in the vinyl section. They didnt have anything in stock under it, but it made me so happy to see my favorite band represented.

My friends and i went to columbus from des moines, iowa for our favorite bands new album release and we were super excited to check out the local record stores. this was the first place we stopped and we were extremely disappointed. not only did they not have an extremely popular local bands new album but every member of the staff that we encountered was rude and their tone was condescending. we left without purchasing things both times we tried to visit because the employees clearly didnt want our business. thankfully used kids records actually made us feel welcomed rather than an inconvenience. :)

Small store with a great selection.

This store is a Columbus institution having weathered changes in the music industry for approximately a half century. Service is friendly but unobtrusive and the selection is still broad across genres. Inventory is a bit regretted but still good. I was there with my granddaughter who is just starting to explore music and she left happy with a bunch of CDs which means that I left happy. A metered parking lot next to the store is an added plus. Dont let the street construction stop you from visiting.

The name tempts you in but they store is much smaller than I expected and some of the prices were crazy high.

I’m really disappointed that I have to write this poor review because my intention going in here today was to support a local brick and mortar business during this crisis. But they were so astonishly rude that I had to write this. The irony is that there wasn’t even any conflict from my end, they just made assumptions and acted on them without any concern for communication. If you’d like to know the details feel free to ask but it’s safe to say that I won’t be going in here again. Not with all the other local music shops that need business as well as the option to buy pretty much anything I need online.. really astonished and disappointed 👎🏾👎🏾

Consistent perfection. AWESOME music shop, they even had some bands that I felt like nobody else listened to but me. Vinyl that warrants a second and third look; I need it all! Kick ass t-shirts. Cooler than cool and a hidden gem. This place is on my recommend to my tourist friends list, for sure.

I’ve never been more upset with a store before. I planned a whole week long trip to go meet my favorite band, wallows, at their listening party at this store. I emailed the store multiple times asking some questions on what to purchase to attend, two days of not answering my emails they finally decide to post saying that the listening party is now sold out and no one else can attend. I now have to go up there and still have my trip without even going to meet them, I am extremely disappointed with this store. I wish I could give zero stars.

If you want metal, and I mean real underground metal, this is the place to go! Absolute jackpot. When you walk in and find a Judas Iscariot cd, you know youre going to find some real gems. Awesome collection of shirts as well. I had to limit myself a lot and still spent nearly $200 in there. If I picked up everything that caught my eye, Id be out a couple grand. And I am just talking about the metal section alone. The shop is quite large compared to most record shops I have been to and the variety of genres is insane and they have a lot to offer in each genre. Highly recommended for anyone living in the area or anyone visiting. I only wish I didnt live over 6 hours away.

My husband and I recently purchased what was believed to be a new copy of a Bowie album. Upon getting home and opening it, the packaging was cracked and scuffed. The album itself had some sort of weird moisture residue on it. Clearly not a new copy. When we called to ask what they could do, they cut my husband off and just told him to come in and theyd take care of it. When he did, they didnt want to take the album back even though on the phone they said they would, and they would only give him store credit if he purchased something else that day in store. My husband had to explain three different times what was wrong with the vinyl and they clearly werent listening to him. We just went ahead took the store credit, but the cashier at the front almost gave the store credit to a different customer entirely, and he had to chase them down by their car to get the store credit back. Horrendous customer service from this place and they talk down to their customers.Husbands note: Its a shame, because even though it can be pricey, theyve helped me find an obscure record, and they have the best metal selection in town bar none.

If you are looking for obscure, indy, or just weird, you have found the right place. Amazing and eclectic selection of music, merch, shirts, buttons, even guitar strings if you cant get out anywhere else. Has always been a staple of Columbus for me while living here.

I bought a twenty one pilots record that apparently was never released called “regional at best” and surprised to find it in their store and found out it was bootlegged ( recorded and put on a vinyl) and it doesn’t sound good apologies to any tp fans but if this store is going to sell bootlegged vinyls and make an outrageous price for it, then they shouldn’t sell it to people in their stores anyways because that’s selling people bad quality music like it sounded like it was recorded underwater and I’m very upset about it. People should be sold good quality music that’s what the people want!

Great place to find some great albums.

Easiest place in town to look for used CDs. Most everything is broken down into genres and alphabetized. So much easier to search for what Im looking for than any other place in town.

Magnolia Thunderpussy has an incredible selection of records. Whenever we go, we plan on being there at least a hour just to comb through everything. We purchase a lot of gifts from here. The employees are always super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place!

Great place to go hang out or on a date. Large store with posters/stickers/patches/ shirts/ records /dvds/cds/ and other gifts. They stay well stocked too. Located next to a Skullys which is nice, most days you can pop into a show afterwards for ~$5. Staff is super friendly and relaxed, and are really helpful!
