My husband and I always want to go to Barnes and Noble when we visit Columbus. There is always a good variety of quality OSU stuff, not available at other stores. However, this time when we went, I found a shirt I wanted to purchase in a different size. So I found a salesperson and asked her if they had this in a different size. She walked to a section of the store, looked around and said no there are no more of that style. Very disappointed, I went back and looked again. I found more same shirts on two different racks! I still didnt find the size I wanted, but I did find all other sizes. I was then disappointed in the sales staff who didnt seem to be interested in assisting me and making a sale.
Love the smell of new books! And this place is packed with Ohio State University spirit items. One can spend whole day in there, just to get through what they have to offer. Parking is not too bad and the clerk is fairly nice. Guess its one of the must visit place when coming to OSU
Its helpful if you want textbooks and merch, but otherwise its honestly a bit lacking. The upstairs is very empty, making it feel like the building doesnt have much in it. It does what it needs to do, but not much else.
Their very young staff was friendly, knowledgeable, patient and really very helpful!
I would not work here if I were you. At first, I was happy to work next to my dorm, but they give you a certain amount of hours they want. For example, instead of working a full 8 hour day, you will work a 3 hour day. Why waste time like that? It gets super boring to work here as well if school is not in and no football. There is absolutely nothing to do. I worked here for 3 months and hated every minute of it.
Really cute store the book selection isnt the biggest but it has a great selection of Ohio State merchandise. Staff were friendly and location was clean and well maintained.
Very nice bookstore with many books and things that a student will need.
Had a very nice shopping experience and they have a friendly staff.
Great customer service always help me to find my books for 4 years of school. Finally I graduated and I will miss them a lot !! Thank you for helping me to arrive at my goal !!
I love me some Barnes and Nobles!
Love getting our swag here
Love this I love this store. Started going here when my son going here too Ohio State here in 2007, been a fan always but now I was a Ohio State Mom!! Now I go there when I want to get any special OSU item, sweatshirt to a nail file haha
Giant store with all that you need and more.
Annoyed with literally every aspect of this place, also way overpriced
I was rather disappointed with Barnes & Noble. I thought theyd have more books. I wasnt looking for an OSU team shop.
Whenever I call no one answers to help me with questions I have. I just am on the line with long ringing until it refers me to leave a voicemail. The employees are really rude except for the one guy in the cafè he’s really nice. I really like the cafè at this Barnes and Noble. I feel like that’s the only reason I am giving it three stars. I like the products the store has in terms of apparel and office items. But the textbooks in my opinion could be cheaper even for used. I also think customer service could be much better.
Its a great place for school supplies and journals, but law book prices are brutal (not that it is avoidable) and there is a very slim selection of legal study aids in the student bookstore.Overall a great bookstore.
All the gear you want. A students haven.
Made a visit to OSU for a tour with my daughter. On campus bookstore was closed on Saturdays so we had no choice but to go to the B&N store. On a busy Saturday they were closed until 1pm for “inventory” hung out until 1 only to walk up and see the manager changing the time to open until 2pm. What store does inventory and close on a busy Saturday?
Nice inside and friendly staff but its trying to be too many things (reg book store, campus apparel/spirit shop, and school textbook retailer). They do as good a job as possible but would thrive if they focused on being one of the 3.
They only had Ohio State stuff
Always a great selection of books, as well as Buckeye gear...
This is a great place to find Ohio State memorabilia. And it has saved our son when he needed electronics right away.
Avery and Peri are amazing with customer service and so helpful! Avery is the MVP and the only reason I use this location for my textbooks instead of online. Avery was so helpful in getting me my textbooks and made me feel at home! Peri was very helpful in holding a book for me and I genuinely had a great customer service experience with her! Will be coming back to see Avery and Peri again, but maybe not the low quality cashiers. This location has some stationary, apparel, beauty supplies (? Like lip balm and skincare and stuff), backpacks, chargers, and good stuff.
Can be good for official OSU bookstore items.Otherwise use other local stores for OSU items cheaper.
Great for OSU merchandise
As a customer they dont let you use the bathroom.
Unfortunately it’s not possible to give this store a negative star rating. They absolutely deserve it. They used COVID-19 as an excuse to take advantage of students and charge outrageous late fees. The store manager, Kathy, must be so proud! Thanks to her condescending attitude, at least one OSU family will NEVER make another purchase from this (or any other) Barnes and Noble store again. Way to go B&N. Rest assured that we will freely share our negative experience with others any time the opportunity presents itself.
This location is lovely. They provide textbooks for student at a reduced price. I love the stationary section in the front to purchase my calligraphy set. The staff is friendly and attentive. This location is a two story establishment with an Escalade set of stairs. Upstairs is also lovely. There is even a section in the back with tables for anyone to study with a nice view of high st. I highly recommend this Barnes & Noble to students or just to the general public.
Its a good place to study.
Half the time the graduation department had nobody working, and half the time that there was the employees had no idea what to do. Plus, for some reason I couldnt return my rented robes to the front desk (they were even confused for a few minutes as to what I was trying to do). So, they made me go all the way to opposite side of the store (guess what, nobody was there). Complete ignorance all-around... a wonder how they operate such a big store in prime real estate with such abysmal employee training.
We had a wonderful experience with Doug, the assistant manager of the store on campus. I contacted the store via the website with a request to order a cap and gown set even though OSU had postponed their in person graduation. Doug contacted me via email requesting a good number to call and then called me the next day. He went into the store even though physically closed due to the COVID-19 stay in place order and mailed out several graduation sets with complimentary shipping. Perfect customer service at its best during challenging times.
Ignoring the fact that I came here to drain my bank account further in order to even be able to have a chance to succeed at this $20k+ school, this place is pretty great. Very well set up and organized, and all of the the workers are helpful and knowledgeable. Its very clearly not their first rodeo in here.(p.s. do expect a bit of a wait in line if buying anything at the very start of the school year)
Great bookstore. This Barnes a Noble has an awesome Clearance section for novels. However, if youre looking for a wide selection of books to read not for school youre better off going elsewhere.
Store was well laid out for Covid, but the checkout is poorly distanced.
The staff is helpful and friendly. However my only complaint is that there are very few books in what is supposedly a bookstore. About 3 quarters of the inside is actually osu branded merchandise. It is a big store but I am rarely able to find books that I want.
I went right at open to get some textbooks, it was quick and easy and when I had questions someone was right there to help. Employees were very nice and I was able to get in and out in no time. Thanks for a great experience.
Great place to go and read and hang out also meet with friends, do a book club, its a awesome location. Lots to do, and tons of fun. Can meet really cool people also you can bring the family, for a wonderful season of learning.
Im a grad student at OSU and Ive been using this (official) bookstore for my OSU textbooks since undergrad. EVERY time I order new books - the ones in my field that I plan on keeping - they automatically switch my selection after checkout to used and send my trashed books. Dealing with returns is always a hassle with 1,000 questions which could all be avoided if they sent me the books I ordered in the first place. They are now closed due to COVID-19, which I understand, but they do not make this easily seen on the website. At the closed store, there is a sign with an email and a phone number that just tells you to send an email.Amazon is always cheaper on new, used, and rental textbooks and the returns process is so much easier. B&N is no longer my official text book supplier.
They were disrespectful
I still love bookstores. Especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This store also has all of the official Ohio State merchandise and I’m a buckeye fan. So that is a plus. Go Bucks!!!I like university book stores that allow you to browse the textbooks used for classes. unfortunately at the Ohio State B&N you can’t browse the text books. :-(The retail book selection is is very small. I know it’s hard for bookstores in the age of Amazon. Maybe if a shopper (not a student) could get to the course texts, I would add a star or two. I’d most likely buy some of the texts.
Closed due to snow emergency. Smh
This branch of Barnes & Noble is a bit smaller than the stand-alone store. Its more convenient to get to from campus, but their selection is limited, as the books are tailored toward the need of college kids. Although I wasnt able to pick up the book I went in for, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
Terrible customer service. I purchased a textbook online and picked it up in the store on 8/20. There were no used books available, so I was charged nearly double the expected price for a new book. I did not discover this until I got home, however, after a quick search online I was able to find the same book for 1/4 for the price elsewhere. I attempted to return the book to another B&N/OSU location on campus but was told that it had to be returned in person to the location on High Street. I was not able to find the time to make it there during business hours until 8/27. I attempted to return the textbook but I was refused. I was told that the last date for returns was 8/26. Furthermore, I was told that this policy is in place to ensure that I did not mark up the book and/or use it for a significant part of the semester before returning it. I pointed out the fact that the book was still in its packaging and clearly still in new condition and that we were only 1/15th of the way through the semester. Despite my arguments I was told that no exceptions would be made and that my only recourse was to try and sell the book back later for less than half of what I paid. I completed my undergraduate degree and medical degree at Ohio State, and I recently decided to pursue another graduate degree. I consider myself a loyal Buckeye and will always do what I can do support the businesses near the campus, however, after this experience I will be taking all future business to Amazon.
Beautiful store. Huge selection of books, osu apparel and other things. Two stories. Nice place.
Its your typical campus bookstore, lots of books, school supplies, printing, and OSU gear. This place is going to have what you need for sure! But prices are slightly at a premium here so if your looking to save money shop elsewhere but if you need it now definitely not a bad place to look for said thing!
This is alright, but it is primarily a book store for Ohio State University and a Barnes and Noble second. There isnt a huge selection of books and the prices are pretty high. I would recommend you go to any other Barnes and Noble before this one, if the choice is available, but this one should work if you have time to wait and know what you want to order.
They were very helpful with my issue, though couldnt completely resolve it while I was there.I had ordered diploma frames for two different universities, both use B&N for site bookstore, and the same company for frames. The frame descriptions were the same, but I received different styles. OSU B&N let me return the frame there, and referred me to the website to build a frame that matches what I want.
Nice, clean, well laid out bookstore. My only issue is it would be nice to have more things related to the band. The OSU band is very famous, but there is nothing in the bookstore related to it.
Large area for shopping in store shopping two floors nice and clean
Beautiful & pricey
Its an updated retailer in a historic building. Good location & selection for students. Not a good selection or parking for non-university patrons. I think it has way too much of the university gear - for which there are plenty of other retailers in the area - and not enough of the regular Barnes & Noble offerings (like fiction, non-fiction, reference, childrens, games, magazines.)
They have such a wide selection of books, textbooks and Ohio State memorabilia. A great place to go whether you live on campus or are just visiting. Also they have extremely friendly staff.
Excellent place. Many many books. Great staff are there to help you.
The staff very knowledgeable and helpful!!
No big complains here, but one smaller one.Found it fairly easy to find the textbook I needed on the second floor, with arrows on the floor to point students in the right direction. They have a fairly large selection of books, but also pretty much everything you would need as a student. My only complaint was how annoying it was to walk around and around a sort of line the constructed with various stands of various products (snacks, pens, flash drives, etc.) It wasnt too bad because I know they were prepared for many students, but what really bugged me was how much they seemed to push purchasing the things displayed in the line. I felt annoyed by the overwhelming advertising I was subjected to in line, including a large TV that loudly and continually looped an ad for some online tutoring website that I was not interested in. I waited in line for probably 5 minutes and it must have looped at least 20 times. It got very redundant and annoying and I would have gone crazy of I had actually needed to wait in a line big enough for there preparations to support as I probably would have been able to quote the entire ad word by word by the end.The store is great and will probably have what you need for school, but they could do with less advertising to those just waiting to purchase their goods.
Blast from the past. A change of venue from back when but still the same vibe. Lovely staff.
It is a very nice Barnes and Noble compared to other stores around Ohio. It has a Starbucks Coffee inside of it so if you need to get a quick drink in the morning or later in the day you can get one. Very nice and easy layout with escalators to get up and down to the first and second floor.
Great selection of attire and books. Great sales on OSU apparel! Friendly courteous staff!
Be aware. During pandemic, the restrooms are not available to customers.
Amazing! Spacious with a cafe and seating and an upstairs filled with books and also college/dorm supplies and other cool finds. Perfect study spit lots of places to lounge and friendly staff
Im from TN and am a big OSU fan. So Barnes and Noble is the place to go for OSU paraphanalia. I was in heaven !!
This is an iconic place near campus. It used to be home to Longs Bookstore, but B&N does a great job in keeping with traditions. Youll pretty much have to leave with a new hoodie or tshirt every time you visit.
Great place to get what you need supplys drinks snacks books clothes and anything else you need
This is a really nice Barnes and Noble but the prices are crazy high. If youre buying books definitely look online first. They have a nice selection of merchandise though.
They literally have everything you may need for college, including when living in a dorm. Theres tons of OSU apparel, gifts, games and books (of course). They also have loads of school supplies- so basically this is your go to store near campus if you need something last minute. OSU uses B&N as their official textbook store, so they also have most of the textbooks you may need and they have the option of renting textbooks too. There is also a cafe if you are in need of a Starbucks coffee or treat.
If you dont believe me that the employees dont really even pretend that they dont hate their jobs, go for yourself.
This is a vary nice store, from starbucks to your favorite Buckeyes merchandise. Stop in to get that book you are looking for, or to just relax with a cup of coffee and a snack.
Great place. Rebecca in the textbooks section upstairs is very knowledgeable and friendly! She made for a great experience.
Nice store. Textbooks usually overpriced but have Amazon match. Merch overpriced but they sometimes have giveaways, contests or raffles. Customer service is usually great even when there are rediculously long lines at the start and ends of semesters.
A must visit for the most diverse assortment of Buckeye items! This B&N isnt really a bookstore, but Ohio State fans will have large smiles on their faces!
Good place to go and relax if youre wanting a peaceful place to read a book
Nice place...you can find several ohios souvenir...
This is the best place to hang out with friends. They have board games, Wifi, coffee, books and OSU apparel! I am a frequent customer at the Starbucks because I cant live without my coffee. Yesterday, I brought this frappuchino and played board games with my sisters for a few hours until our phones charged again. I will definitely be back for coffee and books later.
Not enough people working during the first week. Waited almost 30 minutes to get checked out. Apparel and books are way too marked up. It’s nice and convenient but sometimes hard to come back.
Not too bad, just be sure you like osu colors. As most of the first floor is dedicated to the school. On the inside, great job with the displays.
My son loves this place, a bit pricey but worth it, since mybteenager loves to read.
Good place to buy OSU apparel. A bit pricey though
Buying a textbook here is always a pain. Ive been waiting for three weeks for them to get a textbook shipment that they supposedly ordered when I initially came in and still have not received any good timeframe for when to wait. Thus B&N also screwed me last semester because they cant cooperate with other branch stores as they are university affiliated. Super overpriced as well. Get books elsewhere, youll be happier for it.
Awesome store! Tons of Ohio State Buckeyes stuff.
Read or buy a book. Dont even matter. Its all good inside this great environment.
This is a great B&N to go to. Lots of things to choose from.
This place is amazing and has more items than you can imagine if you are looking for OSU anything!!
Pre-paied a text book here, but in the course of 2 weeks I visited several times and every time I returened empty handed. The last time I asked that when on earth my book will arrive, they act as if they nevery care, and ask me to get a refund and go to amazon to order. REALLY?
Great OSU apparell!! AWESOME book store!!! AND there is Starbucks inside!!!
A fairly nice Barnes & Noble, a majority of the store is dedicated to a Buckeyes gift shop with tons of memorabilia and clothing (for better or worse) and its really the only place for students to purchase books for OSU so if youre just a casual reader looking for a place to find a good book - its not exactly the ideal spot for that.
Nice store but so over priced. We found some ok clearance deals and since we were on a mission to get some OSU souvenirs we did end up getting some items otherwise I would not get anything. Parking can be a challenge depending on the day and time. Sunday has free meters and always check for meters with time left. There are parking garages around but check the signs which are confusing either way. Columbus sucks for ticketing and towing.
Wide range of stuff to buy and proper branded OSU merch
Nice place, would have thought there would be more clothing available for different teams ie, wrestling, soccer, baseball, etc
Great place to work except I buy stuff here all the time! Highly recommend.
Very limited parking but it is a great store to find all books and puzzles
Only go there if you are an OSU student, pretty much just text books and OSU stuff
I ordered 2 T-shirts from them and I am still waiting and have been waiting for one of them for 1 and 1/2 months. I have called them multiple times and each time they tell me it is still on backorder. I had previously enjoyed this company and thought they were okay but now I think poorly of them. These shirts were supposed to be a Christmas present it is about to be February and I still have not received them!
It has books and things for students which is nice. The prices are okay, all of the Ohio State merchandise is a bit overpriced. Students can use buckid cash here which is convenient.
Very nice store has alot of product here very neat and organized enjoyed this store very much service was nice as well
