Employee was patient while I asked questions. The cupcakes are moist but flavor wise it didn’t do it for me. The red velvet tasted like just a good chocolate cupcake. It was missing the traditional tang from buttermilk/vinegar that I prefer. The lemon cupcake tasted like a good vanilla cake w/a faint taste of lemon. The 4 stars is for the presentation (cute box), the moistness of the cupcakes and the nice employee I encountered.

Wow, if I could give this place 10 stars.... I definitely would. I have never tasted any cake or cupcake this good any where else. The customer service is awesome. Every order that I have placed was filled beyond my expectations. The cakes and cupcakes aren’t just beautiful; they’re extremely delicious. A huge thank you to everyone at the Two Notch Rd location especially the manager....she is the sweetest. Smallcakes will forever have my business. Thank you guys for your hard work and dedication.

On such a short notice I was gathering Father’s Day gifts for my dad. All the other bakeries were closed so I decided to go to this one and it just happened to be close to my dads residence. I ordered 6 cupcakes which included the strawberry, German chocolate, carrot, pecan, lemon drop, and cookies and cream. Let me tell you.... it was soooo rich and soft and sweet at the same time. My dad literally swallowed the whole strawberry one whole lol so I take it..he likes it. The lady was very sweet and helped me right away. This ended up being a great addition to his gift along side his craftsman’s tools. Thanks for the treats.

Poor customer service. Rewards program falsely advertises Have your 13th cupcake absolutely free. This is false advertising. My family purchases atleast a half dozen at a time, if not more for special occasions. We werent even made aware of the rewards program this entire time. My husband happened to see the rewards card this time. To top it off, he only got one stamp when he bought 6 cupcakes. How are you going to give a stamp per visit, when your rewards card says you get rewarded up to 12th cupcake. So someone coming in buying 1 cupcake at a time will get their 13th free. While my family who buys minimum 6 cupcakes at a time would end up buying 72 cupcakes before we got a reward. If thats how you reward your frequent customers who buy in bulk basically. We will take our business to another competitor who upholds their rewards program

I was disappointed with the cupcakes. The flavor was the frosting, and it wasn’t actually in the cupcake. I was especially disappointed in the lemon drop, because the small yellow foot was the lemon flavoring 🙄.

Good cupcakes and ice cream, just wish theyd have different flavors of ice cream instead of the same Birthday Cake, Cookies N Cream, Red Velvet and different types of Vanillas. I do recommend this place though for delicious cupcakes and pretty yummy ice cream!

First time coming here although Ive passed it multiple times. I came, on my birthday, to pick up my cupcakes. I saw a Facebook ad, a few days prior, and decided to treat myself. Also, cupcakes are more manageable than a whole cake. The rating came down a star because I had to wait. I was on time to pick my order up. I was informed that there werent enough vanilla cupcakes and they were still baking. I ended up getting some ice cream (I forget the flavor) to go wait in the car. It was really warm that day so it helped! Almost 30 minutes later, the young lady brought my box to my car. The cakes are actually kind of large! They were super moist and light although they seemed dense. I got lemon, peanut butter, red velvet, caramel crunch, birthday, and pink. You can tell the hot ones because the icing melted. Id try other flavors next time.

Some of the best cupcakes I have ever tasted. The cakes are moist and perfect and the frosting delicious. My early faves are lemon drop, carrot, and red velvet. The carrot ice cream was delicious too.

We love going to Smallcakes and getting a treat as a family. They serve ice cream as well as cupcakes, but we are partial to the cakes. There are SO many options to choose from- we love the chocolate, red velvet and lemon the most. I would highly recommend this spot for a date night or girls night or even getting them for your next celebration.

My second time visiting, I had a craving for a vanilla cupcake. Walked in the door, wasn’t greeted, a very rude cashier (heavy set Caucasian teenager) walked out of the back with her arms crossed and just looked at me. So I asked, what flavors do you have? No response but a very awkward hand wafting gesture towards the cupcakes on the counter. I can obviously see the cupcakes on the counter but will you explain to me what they are?? How rude. I walked out then went to cupcake down south, where they were happy to assist. Won’t be returning here.

Every time I go to Smallcakes I enjoy the cupcakes I order. The customer service is great and they answer all my questions. They don’t display a lot of cupcakes but rather keep the cupcakes fresh and frost them when you order. I’ve never been disappointed.

Very cute little place. Just 5 tables of 2 chairs each and small selection but VERY good! I e cream is made here as well. I got the lemon poppy seed. Not overly sweet or lemon tasting, perfect. I also got the pink vanilla cup cake and it is sooooo moist! Note: no dairy alternatives

I walked in for last minute cupcakes for 30th birthday dinner. I ordered red velvet, carrot cake and lemon drop flavors. The cupcake was very moist and great presentation. I enjoyed the red velvet cupcake especially. The only complaint is the limited selection at the location I visited. There were not any mini or jumbo cupcake options. But I enjoyed the cupcakes and would definitely visit again.

Started coming here about a year ago and it’s been a constant struggle not to come everyday. The wedding cake is my absolute favorite. The cupcakes are always fresh and delicious. Hands down the best cupcake shop in Columbia!

We were on the way home from a long day of Christmas shopping when we happened upon this small shop off Two Notch. My friend and I are picky when it comes to sweets, but delighted that they were open as late as they were, we decided to stop in.We first noticed the nice play area for the kids. A great touch. And then we went to peruse the great (but not too big) variety of cupcakes on display. The display itself could use a little refinement. Maybe covering the cakes with a glass dish of some sort. But nonetheless we were greeted by a friendly staff member who helped us understand the different flavors and let us know of the specials they were running that day.We decided to go with the red velvet, hot fudge sundae, ginger bread and lemon drop. So far we’ve tried the gingerbread and lemon drop. Wonderfully flavored but not too sweet. There is such a great balance and play on textures and we could taste the expertise that went into them.And to top it all off, we were offered free itastings of their homemade ice cream on the way out. The playful selections were great and the ice cream itself was milky, smooth, and I can’t wait to try again. This place has the potential to be one of Northeast Columbia’s best.

Customer service is horrible. I requested a cake order 48 hrs in advance as required by Small Cakes management. Placed the cake order and staff confirmed cake size, color, design, and when I needed it-regular sheet cake. Even discussed and confirmed cake order with the store baker as they assured my they could make the cake with was a simple sheet cake. The day before my event when I went to store to pay for my order, I was told by one of the young cashiers that the Manager canceled my order. I was not notified by Small Cakes staff nor the manager that my cake order was cancelled. When I requested to speak to the manager, the young cashier called her on the phone but Manager would not speak to me to tell me why my order was cancelled. Instead she instructed the young cashier to tell they would not complete my cake order that it was cancelled. Just not explanation, not regard for my event in less than 24 hrs, and they just simply did not care about completing my cake order as I they promised and confirmed. I will NEVER patronize Small Cakes business. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ANY CAKE ORDERS FROM SMALL CAKES IF YOUR DEPENDING ON THEM TO MAKE IT. YOUR ORDER COULD BE CANCELLED HOURS BEFORE YOUR EVENT JUST LIKE MINE. SMALL CAKES SHOULD BE HONEST WITH CUSTOMERS IF THEY CANT FULFILL AN ORDER, NOT LEAD ON CUSTOMERS TO TRUST THEM TO HAVE YOUR ORDER COMPLETED AND NOT CANCELLED ORDERS AT THE LAST MINUTE. DONT TRUST SMALLS CAKES OR YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AND RUNNING AROUND TRYING TO FIND A TRUSTED BAKERY.

The cupcakes are moist, beautifully decorated, and sinfully DELICIOUS!!! My daughters and I tried the banana cream, cookies and cream, and red velvet. The customer service was EXCELLENT! We will definitely be back again!

Their inventory looked horrible. They had empty containers of ice cream in the cooler and were very low on cupcakes. I’ve been to many Small Cakes around the country and I have never seen one in such poor shape. When I walked in with my family the Caucasian employee never acknowledged our presence. Then two minutes later a Caucasian customer walked in and the employee did all she could to make that customer feel welcome. To say the least this experience was dreadful and I will never return.

I was truly disappointed. I ordered a dozen cupcakes in a variety to have a good selection for a gathering. Unfortunately, not one person was impressed by the frosting nor the batter. The batter tasted like it was made from a box (not from scratch). And whatever you do, do not order the wedding cake cupcake.

I came today cause I havent ate something sweet in a long time. My mom bought me cake batter ice cream with chocolate cupcake. I liked it a lot. There is a cute small area in store for kids to play which I liked. I would tell my mom to take me there again to try new flavors- From Jay Shah, 7 year old boy.

Had a cake personalized on a 48 hour notice with payment ahead of time to make the sale final. I was incredibly satisfied with small cakes! They have Publix topped! One of the best cakes inside and out I have ever had!!!! 10/10 on orders and staff! The cashiers are always friendly! Management was so flexible!

I was on the hunt to satisfy a sweet tooth. What I found was a kid friendly, little shop with some very helpful ladies. My indulgence today was the Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcake ! It has chocolate cake, decadent frosting drizzled with hot fudge and YES ... a cherry on top !

I didnt want to leave a bad review ever for this place because Im a regular and by regular I mean I live like 2 mins away and I frequent this place 3 to 4 times a week since they have opened! Now Ive noticed something for the last 3 times My husband has picked up ice cream for me, when he gives it to me the ice cream is very gritty and not very good well tonight is the last straw for me I opened the lid and the ice cream is freezer burnt with a really weird like texture!! It actually looks like they are trying to get rid of old back stock! There is no excuse for this when your putting the ice cream scoop into the ice cream you can clearly see this but yet still to choose to serve this its a shame coming from a shop with so much potential not to mention this is how they treat thier loyal customers!!??? I thought about calling the shop owner but like i said this is not an accident it happened so Im just done spending my money in this shop hope they can get it together and run things like they used to when the first opened!

Bought a variety of cup cakes. I guess it really depends on what you like as a person and also what you order here. Key Lime was ok, icing and cake part. Milk chocolate, cake was ok, icing way to stiff and sweet. Red velvet, cake was ok, icing also way to stiff and too sweet. We still have 2 left and my husband and I probably will only eat the cake part tomorrow. we dont like crazy sweet icing. So this is just our personal observation. If you like SUPER SWEET, go for it. The icing is also not light. We might try the ice cream they offer this summer but we had our share/try of the cup cakes. Also for a small town pretty pricey. Been to way bigger cities that charged less for better.

This place is the worst!.. I tried it twice just to make sure I was being fair and to see if maybe the first day was an off day and it was horrible both times.. The cupcakes taste like Kroger or Wal-Mart store bought cakes.. Not what I expected at all after loving Cupcakes downsouth for so long.. I have driven all the way down town just for their cupcakes and I will continue to do so until I find better on this side of town..

Absolutely horrible!!!! We are here visiting family since we live in Hawaii. My daughters first bday and my dad went to surprise her with a moan cake, and the lady said yes we will do all this and that. They charged him 60!!! For a green cake and a circle on top? Horrible absolutely horrible!!!

I completely love Smallcakes !!! The frosting is great and they make the cupcakes fresh everyday ! They also have delicious ice creams such as Red Velvet,Coffee,Salted Carmel and many others . Hearing about frosting complaints Ill definitely have to disagree !! The frostings are great and rich ! It doesnt have a dye taste in the food colored frostings as well. My experience was nothing but great ! I actually went in Saturday around 1:30 and they had a huge crowd !! The customer service was great and I didnt mind waiting on my delicious cupcakes . The Cookie Monster cupcake is amazing and they also had puppy cupcakes that my little Yorkie poo loved . This is soo much better than sweets and marble slab!!!!!!!

Giving two stars for moisture. I find that a lot of locals love this place. The wedding cake cupcake was so overpowering with almond extract I could not give away. The Oreo Cupcake was a vanilla cupcake with Oreo icing. The Nutella Cupcake was the best of the three I purchased. Not worth $3.50 but best of the three. This compared to a bakery such as CupCrazed in Fort Mill, SC or Carlos in Hoboken, NJ there is no comparison!

I wish I could say better things about the cupcakes. :( After Sweet closed in Sandhill, there is not a decent place to get a cupcake around here! I got 4 different flavors just to test them out. The actual cake (chocolate and vanilla) was very fresh and flavorful, though if it didnt come from a box mix Ill be surprised. Same for the frosting on all of them (buttercream, fudge, chocolate buttercream, and caramel). They definitely taste commercially made rather than from the bakers own recipes. The fudge tasted like a thicker version of fudge ice cream topping from a jar at the grocery store. As for the 2 buttercreams, Ive had better tasting frosting on Walmart cake. I was really hoping for something better.
