Im gonna say it, Hot Box is better than Insomnia. They have a better selection of cookie flavours, the ambiance is hipper and grittier inside which makes the entire cookie experience unique, the cookies themselves are the ideal ratio of crunchy, buttery outsides and warm, soft insides. I got oatmeal chocolate chip and peanutbutter chocolate chip but will be back to try more flavours! They also have the option for icecream sandwhiches or icing too!

One of my favorite places is Hot Box Cookies and I dont have one in my home town, so tonight I ordered 12 cookies equaling over $20 and my order was incorrect. When I called they said that they ran out of some, so they just replaced it with peanut butter. I told them if they would have called I wouldve just cancelled my order, and the lady said for 3 cookies? Yes, thats why I ordered in the first place. She said that they were short staffed and in a hurry so they didnt call. Very disappointed. Cookies were still good, but not the point. And delivery time was over an hour, the cookies were not hot by any means.

They make a good fresh cookie, which is probably the most important thing. They also deliver which is a great customer service. My main issue is that they can be a little pricey for a per cookie price. However on a late night and someone ordered some hotbox cookies, no one is ever disappointed by that.

Cookies are fine, but not worth the price.Went into the store and picked some up. Service person at the register was a little frosty with me. Cookies were cold and not really anything beyond what I would get from a grocery bakery at triple the price.

They forgot the ice cream that I ordered with the cookies for my daughter. Then when I called, Serenity answered and was very rude, was mad that I wanted the full order delivered and just hung up on me. Not acceptable, Ill take my business elseware.

Hot Box Cookies are like homemade cookies with a hearty (perfect) allotment of butter. My favorites are the Monster (with just about everything) and PB Chocolate Chip cookies. However, its hard to go wrong with any cookie choice here.

The Red Velvet and Gooey Butter cookies are my favorite. The cookies are always great and the service is fast. You can have your cookie made into an ice cream or frosting sandwich . . . and you can even get cookie dough to go.

Wish I would have read reviews before ordering a delivery. I waited 2 and half hours for a box of cold cookies. Never had a problem when I’ve went to the store

Good cookies

Not really sure how you can go wrong with cookies, but you cant always put the products at the forefront of a business. Sometimes the service makes all the difference. I placed an order 2 days prior to V-Day for my husband. When placing the order, I was advised that I should allow a half hour grace period for the deliveries. No big deal, that was doable since I could allot for the extra time knowing this information in advance. When the time for the delivery had come and gone, I waited an hour and a half post deliver time before call the store. I was then advised that I should have allowed for a 2-3 hours grace period, rather than just 30 minutes. I completely understand that V-Day can get crazy busy for Hot Box Cookies, but keeping the consumers well informed on what that grace period actually was should have been clearly conveyed when placing the order. Had I known any of this, I would have planned around that time frame accordingly.Ultimately I had to cancel this order and ask for a refund, due to the fact that my husband had meetings all afternoon and couldnt wait around any longer for a late delivery driver. Sorely disappointed.

Ive only been to Hot Box Cookies twice, but both times the staff has been friendly and welcoming. The cookies always come out warm and gooey. There are a variety of options for cookies, ice cream sandwiches and even cookie dough to bake at home or eat.

I LOVED it, was passing through looking for something to eat with my family and for dessert we saw a cookie place across the street. We got cookie dough and a frosting cookie and it was oh my god good. I cant stop thinking about it and Im in Colorado! Definetly recommend😊

Found out they have a call center in St. Louis. Dont call the call center!Request to be transferred to the location you are ordering from. Person from call center taking orders over the phone should be conscientious of their annunciation, professionalism, and telephone etiquette along with the correct address and salutations for the order. The cookies are pretty good. The service is very slow as there is always ONE person trying to do three jobs. The poor young lady working every time I go into the store is taking orders from a line of customers, then has to pack the order, answer the phone and tell the person on the phone that the manager is not available and that she can’t answer that question. We waited for ten minutes to have our order taken and another ten minutes just to get our cookies. What? The cookies are ready in the oven! Oh, not only do we wait for 20 minutes, we are notified that the cookies we want are sold out and we have to make another choice as the young lady can’t bake the cookies because she has to take orders, pack and answer the phone! This is seriously bad service and working a staff member in an unsafe environment. Leaving a teen alone in a store is very unsafe. Where is the manager? Is there a manager? No delivery drivers on site? The establishment was dirty as well, front and back because why.... there is only ONE person working!!If I were a business owner, I would snatch up this young lady as she is a hard worker, but I hope she finds a better paying job that will appreciate her hard work.

I have ordered from the Columbia Hot Box location several times. First time they delivered on the wrong day and time. Another time they called and said no such address, even though it was the same address as before. One more time I got a call from Lawrence, KS Hot Box location. Columbia had sent my order to them. For cookies sent to the SAME address as in the past. Then goodness the Lawrence location straightened it out. I will never, ever order from them again.

Do not bother to advance order! I placed two separate orders for delivery on the same day for our Company. First order was placed 6 days in advance and second order was placed one day in advance, as I read how the cookie cakes may take an extra 30-60 minutes for prep/delivery. Apparently no one plans for these future orders and just brings up the queue for that specific day. A requested 10:30AM (posted hours on web state they open at 9:30AM) has still not arrived at 11:10AM and who knows what time the 11:30AM delivery will show up. Well, guess what, both orders just showed up at the exact same time. So now we will have cold cookies for our 11:30AM luncheon. They could really use some customer service training and maturity on their staff.Received an email response from Hot Box Management and they are addressing their procedures and offered a complimentary cookie cake or two dozen cookies on my next order. Kudos for the timely customer service recovery and increasing my star ranking. Thank you for caring!

I ordered a birthday delivery locally, the driver was over an hour late! I had also called to ask which cookies had peanuts in them so as to avoid an allergy incident, but the staff who answered the phone had no idea... one even said they didnt think there were peanuts in the peanut butter chocolate chip flavor - haha! The cookies are very good, and the company should charge whatever customers will pay, but they are still overpriced in my opinion.

While the cookies are good, the efficiency of their operation leaves something to be desired. Today is the third time I have placed an order and did not receive the delivery when it was estimated to be there. If I was asking for a large order at the last minute I could understand but I always order with time to spare. Today’s order was placed almost 30 hours in advance. When I call to question the status, I am always met with same excuse, “sorry for the delay we are behind on deliveries today.” At some point the delay needs to be rectified and more staff hired or trained better.

Cookies are absolutely DELICIOUS! They live up to their standards even though they are a bit pricy. I bought a dozen cookies when I first tried them and they stayed moist for the several days I savored them! I would definitely buy again but it would be as a special treat!

I went in last night to get a dozen cookies. when the lady gave us our box and i started to head back to my car, i noticed i only received 6 cookies. i went back inside and nobody helped me. i was disappointed but i did enjoy the cookies and cream and snickerdoodle with my friends.

BEST COOKIES IN COLUMBIA. Seriously, unless you hate warm freshly baked cookies (and who does? monsters, thats who), you will love Hot Box. Cookies and Cream is my favorite, try having their cookies made into an ice cream sandwich sometime!

I have had positive experiences at the store, albeit slow service, but every time I get delivery it takes way longer than it should. I waited 2 hours and finally called for a refund. I was clearly lied to on the phone when told my order was on its way. If you can’t complete a service, don’t offer it. You don’t really have a good product when someone can go to the store, make their own dough, and bake 3 dozen cookies in the time that you can NOT deliver cookies.

I love working for hot box cookies on calvert drive in Columbia. The people are very friendly. I really like the managers they are always there for you. One of the best places I have ever worked.

Great place to get good cookies at overrated price

Because you responded and assured me that I could in fact pay for delivery with my hotbox gift card (and because, of course, I still have the gift card) I tried to order some cookies tonight. Once again I made it all the way to the end of my order, and was told I cannot use my gift card to pay for delivery, however I could pay for delivery using the card if I order online. Okayyyyyy. Once again frustrated. I go online to order the cookies. I make it all the way to the finish line and oh... you can’t pay for a delivery with a gift card. There’s simply no option for it. You can select cash, or you can select credit card. The credit card will prompt you for the type of card, the CVV and the expiration. Which of course, the gift card has none of.Original Review:Hotbox cookies are delicious. I love them. However, other than their recipes, they can’t seem to get literally anything right. For starters, my parents ordered a gift card for my girlfriend as a graduation gift, to be sent to our house. After never receiving it, my step mom called hotbox and reported the issue. Two weeks later, still no gift card. I called, the guy on the phone took my phone number and email address and said he would get back to me when he figures out what’s going on. So I then have to place an order, sit down and wait for them to make the cookies, then to top it off couldn’t get any of the chocolate white chocolate cookies. So what I’m saying is, every level of this transaction was totally botched. From trying to get a gift card in the first place, trying to use it to get cookies delivered, and then trying to pick up an order, and then getting the kind of cookies that we wanted. This story doesn’t include the time that they delivered me cookies and then 10 minutes later a driver called me and said he was “standing outside my apartment knocking”... well I don’t live in that apartment anymore and you guys just delivered my cookies 10 min ago? Or the time that I ordered cookies at 7:30 pm, called in and asked about my order and was told they are running a little behind and then showed up at 1 am after we had all fallen asleep.

The cookies my wife ordered today were a gift for our son to celebrate his last day of college classes. They were delivered on time and she immediately heard from him with a big THANK YOU! Cookies were delicious and, most importantly, warm ... just like mom would make. Very impressed! The only reason I couldnt give 5 stars is b/c I found the online order form a bit confusing. Didnt see anywhere to add a gift card with a message. Had to call the store after ordering to clarify and make sure a card was added to the order. The employee I spoke with was very helpful and did a great job fixing MY mistake. Will definitely use again!

The cookies are decent but their deliver service is awful. NEVER order from them for delivery. Any time I ever order their cookies, they deliver them way outside of what I would consider a realistic time frame. Last time, my mother ordered cookies from them at about 12 PM as a gift for my birthday. They called me at 4 PM and asked if I wanted the cookies. I dont know why they thought they needed to call and ask. They finally delivered them at 6 PM that night. Ridiculous! I will always order from Insomnia instead.

The cookies are quite delectable and the atmosphere is super friendly. With a prime location in the heart of downtown Columbia, there is no place quite like it. Would definitely recommend for someone stopping through Columbia who is looking to sample its cuisine. Delivers as well!

My boyfriend ordered two dozen cookies for my fifth grade class for Valentines Day, to arrive at 10:30am. We dismiss at 2:40pm. At 3:30 I called the store, and while I was on hold someone who said he does not work for Hot Box walked in with the cookies. I sat on hold for twenty minutes, then was disconnected. I called back at 4:10, 6:30, and 1:15 the next day, to the same end. Ive never had such horrific service from a local business in Columbia. So incredibly disappointing. I am so glad I didnt tell my 18 fifth graders that they had cookies coming!

Have baked cookies for years (from scratch), so I know what fresh out of the oven is suppose to be like and that does not include doughy. It is almost as though they are pre-made, but when someone orders they spritz them with water and heats them up to serve a hot cookie, thus making them doughy, or they do not bake them long enough. Either way, I prefer a hot cookie to be soft, melt in the mouth, but not doughy.

Over priced

They completely botched my order on valentines day (was supposed to be a surprise and it never showed up) so the manager promises a few dozen. When I called back for the free dozen the staff told me they didnt have records of it and wouldnt do it. Ill not be back.

This place has the best cookies, however the pricing on them is really bad. Unless you wanna pay $5 plus bucks for 3 cookies. Oh and the price doesnt go down for buying more than that either. Not even on a dozen plus cookies.... It was like $20 or more after tax for a dozen cookies. Honestly its such rip off. You mine as well just bake you some fresh cookies at home instead.

I cannot believe the experience I just had. I almost wouldve given them 2 stars just because they were able to deliver my cookies when I couldnt get to them, but my experience completely overrides that. I shouldve given 0, but thats not an option. I had 2 separate Christmas parties to attend the next day and ordered online. This was my first time ordering from here so I had no idea how it worked, I figured I get about 6 cookies for each event, but was trying to figure out the best way to do it price wise. I was looking at an option of getting 12 cookies and just having them put it into 2 separate boxes, but who I will assume was the manager told me in order to do that I would need to click on an option to add an extra box for 50 cents. Well, as I was placing my order, I noticed another option I could do. I could just order a box of 6 cookies and add 2 for the quantity. 2 boxes right? WRONG. Im going to 2 separate places. I ordered two separate boxes of cookies. Why on earth would I pay extra for another box regardless of how much an extra box cost? The cookies are already overpriced and they were not hot like the website promised they would be. I literally paid $20.61 for 12 cookies! Needless to say, when my cookies arrived they were in 1 box. I had been calling to the store off and on before I ordered asking questions about the best way to do it. The guy basically said he didnt know and it was up to me. The only other thing he said when I was first inquiring about splitting the 12 up was to add it in the comment section.. The comment section only had a limited space anyway. I didnt even have enough space for my short request on mixing the variety option. After the driver left she said she would see if her manager could send another box out if they had another order in the area. After she left. It was late, I was tired, and I just wanted to be done, so I called the store back to tell them that they didnt need to send her back out, but they should probably make it more clear on their site about how they box the cookies and that they only have one size box. The guy, instead of saying, Im sorry for the misunderstanding, began to argue with me, saying, but I told you to do this, I told you to do that. You are saying the same thing over, Im saying the same thing over. And then questioned if my issue was that I didnt want to pay 50 cents for an extra box? heck yes! And know its more. Its not just about the money, but the principal and the fact that he was completely UNPROFESSIONAL! He is sitting up here arguing with a customer. Needless to say, I wont be ever going back to them!

The cookies are great. But customer service needs to be better. Multiple misplaced or forgotten orders. And tonight after waiting hour an half for the cookies the order was cold and WRONG (no surprise there), apparently the driver swapped orders ( me and my wife have worked delivery for 10 plus years we dont see how this can happen) and now we probably have to wait an another two hrs and recieve cold cookies yet again...love the cookies...but they need more then the typical college kid attitude thats running this place into the ground. Hire professional locals and have on site management. The kids are running this very nice place into the ground. And from a delivery driver it dont take 30 mins to get to my address. We get downtown to my address in 10 min going the speed limit. If your a driver and dont know the side roads to take its not a job you should have. Edited: redelivered my order and gave extra cookies and got them here piping hot. This is customer service. Just wish it can happen first time around. Upped my rating.

A co-worker ordered cookies for our boss on-line. She got confirmation and did everything she was suppose to. She was told it would be 120 minutes. She trying calling back a couple of times to make sure that the order was going to be here. She finally had to leave at 3:30 pm at which time I got on the phone and called hot box cookies. Instantly it took Me to a recording. A was on hold for 40 minutes before a young lady answered. I told her where I was calling from and who placed the order and explained to her that we were told 2 hours but it was going on 3 hours and noone tried to call to let us know what was going on. The lady preceded to tell Me that the cookies were on the way. She told Me that they were backed up. I told her I understood that and that is why the 2 hours werent really a big deal but we have been waiting for 3. I told her that the co-worker who ordered wanted a refund since it was now over 3 hours. The lady said ok and hung up on Me. Right when that happened the delivery lady walked in and I explained everything to her and also gave her my number so that her supervisor could call Me because I definitely was pissed from being on hold for so long and then the lady was rude and hung up on Me. She told Me that someone would call Me today or she would call Me--needless to say--I have not been contacted by anyone. I definitely will not be ordering from this place.

I ordered cookies for my daughter who is away in college. I not only ordered cookies but also an “I LOVE YOU” balloon. The cookies were supposed to be wrapped with a red bow as well. She only received the cookies.... The cookies are already a bit pricey and an additional $4.00 for the extra items I ordered. We don’t have a Hot Box location where I live, so I know nothing about them. My daughter talked about how good the cookies are there. The purpose of sending the gift is because I’m 4.5 hours away from my kid and I wanted the day to be special for her- totally ruined. I contacted the store directly and spoke with two different people, neither employee apologized after hearing my complaint. I was told that someone would contact me that day or the next. I have yet to receive a call back... I even sent a complaint to them online and no hearing as of yet. I’d like my money back or for my daughter to receive the missing items. I’ll never patronize them again nor will I recommend. Very disappointed!!
