This is a stand by our word type of shop. I have been using them since before the current guys bought out Barry. Ill have to admit, I was concerned the level of service may drop off with younger dudes in there. I was wrong. First, they know that they are doing. Secondly, they stand by their work. They just covered a tricky expensive repair for me on my F250 that had some issues. They completely replaced the prior work with no additional discussion or charges. Frankly, I didnt even thing they had to cover it all... I was willing to cover some of it but they did. Top shelf integrity!

Great, timely, well-communicated, and fair-priced service! Been taking my sports car and motorcycle to Star Motors throughout the years. They have consistently done a great and timely job, communicated well, and given me a fair price. I couldnt recommend them more.

I have taken my cars to Star Motors for years – as have most of my family and many of my friends – and we agree to a person that there’s no better service shop in the Uptown Cincinnati area. Their work is top notch, their prices are more than fair, and they’re just real nice guys. If you’re in Uptown, Over-the-Rhine, or downtown and your car needs anything from routine servicing to major repairs, by all means take it to Star Motors!

I stopped by the other morning because my tire pressure light was on even though the gauge said they were all okay. Gabe quickly checked all my tires, put more air in them, and explained why my light was on. Great, fast service!

I had a nail in my tire and took my car in at 9 AM. They were able to look at my tire, remove the nail, patch it, and give me back my key within 12 minutes. Often when I go to an auto shop, I do not feel welcomed or a priority. From the moment I walked in, they were polite and quick. On top of all that, they fixed my tire for FREE. I am definitely coming back here again. This place is a great option, especially for those that live/work at UC!

I personally have worked as a technician at a car dealership, and my brother has been working as a mechanic for years. I decided to go to Star Motors based on the reviews and I could not be more satisfied. Not only was I able to get an appointment the next day, but they they were fast and did a great job. They gave me a very reasonable estimate for the cost of the repairs, and then when they were done they sent me a text and let me know that the repairs were going to be more than a hundred dollars less than what they quoted me. They were even able to change my oil for less than it is when I buy the oil and filter myself! I would recommend this shop to anyone in the UC area, and I would even recommend this shop to friends and family who live about an hour away. ShortVine Star Motors will now be my go-to shop for as long as I am in the Cincinnati Area.

Was visiting Cincinnati from Atlanta and my engine started misfiring on Thursday night, I was planning on leaving Friday morning. Brought it here Friday at 8:30 am and it was ready by 2:30 pm same day. High quality and fast service for a fair price, I definitely recommend them!

Listen, Im from out of town and have a reliable mechanic. My daughter, who goes to UC, had some issues with her car and lives near ShortVine Star Motors. Based on the quality of reviews, I had her vehicle towed there and Gabe and crew were right on point. They recommended a towing service that did not overcharge; had A-1 communication (Texts with costs and services to be provided; text a pic of total invoice when completed). The best part was they were able to fit this repair in within the day and the estimation and quoted time of completion were very close to actual. This repair was about a month ago and everything has been perfect from a quality standpoint. It is very difficult to find people who perform honest, quality services on cars these days so if you are unfortunate with car troubles, be lucky enough to find them! You wont be disappointed. BTW...I showed the invoice to my mechanic, maybe a bit high on labor, but its in the city, not suburbia....other than that, the quality of work was spot on and well worth it.

These guys are great! Super knowledgeable and nice. I generally know about cars but still take it here rather than DIY a lot of the time due to time and space constraints. They have never tried to upsell me and have always done their best to keep prices down. Theyre also SUPER fast. I have yet to have to leave my car with them overnight. And theres a student discount. It might not be the absolute cheapest option, but its certainly not the most expensive and the outcome is superb

I can always count on Matt and his team to treat my UC student professionally and fairly. I never have to worry about her car because I trust that they will make sure she is safe on the road. Recently, after nearly avoiding an accident, my daughter swerved and hit the curb and bent her hub cap. She was concerned that it may have damaged her tire so she drove it over to ShortVine. They checked her tire out, fixed her hub cap, filled the air in her tires and told her she was good to go. No wait, no fuss! It is so nice to have that peace of mind and know my daughter and her car are taken care of with ShortVine.

Ive been going here for about 4 years now and they always do an excellent job with anything you ask them to do. They arent the cheapest car repair shop, but Im honestly ok with paying a little extra for the quality of service they give me in return.

I recently purchased a used vehicle and took it here for an inspection. Matt was very quick to schedule an appointment and very thorough when conducting the inspection. He even topped off some fluids. There was nothing that required immediate attention and they didnt try to sell me any repairs so when asked for what I owe him he just replied Dont worry about it. Over the many years Ive been utilizing the services of Auto Repair businesses its rare that I encounter ethical and conscious auto mechanics. Especially as a woman. ShortVine Star Motors is one in a million. From the minute I first spoke with the owner; I cold-called looking for repairs on my daughters Toyota, I was met with respect. Matt listened to what I was communicating and had very clear feedback about how he would diagnose the car. At every step of the way he made the often exhausting task of repairing a car, something akin to root canal, a highly professional encounter. Matt, realizing I was trying to repair a car for my daughter, a student at nearby University of Cincinnati, was incredibly thorough and cut costs when possible. (its an old college-car). I cant say enough good about this business and Matt. Wish there were more like him in the business. We pick up her car today and I have full confidence shell be driving a safe vehicle.

Someone vandalized my vehicle and I needed the fuel line checked for sugar. They did such a great job with diagnostics, I was willing to pay the $100 deductible for service contract fee to allow Star Motors to work on my vehicle. I needed to email Gabe my policy and called to get the address.Was placed on an 8min hold, at which time I released the call because I had plenty of other things to do. I had time to get in my rental, pull off, return and park it, get picked up by someone else, come all the way to their shop, only to be told by Gabe that my keys werent there, leave again and receive a call 4mins later, that I didnt answer, where Gabe left a vm stating that they indeed did have my keys.At this point I had gone to the location to get my keys because not only was I not called back to be provided with a simple email address in the time it took me to get an alternate ride and arrive at the location; no effort was made to keep my business upon arrival and then I wasnt given the courtesy of a check to see if my keys were present before being allowed to leave yet again. I have returned a while day later to get my keys and I still have no idea what Gabes email address is. Very lackadaisical and unprofessional.

Got my trunk latch fixed within minutes here. I would have had to pay $100+ at the service center. But these guys did it for free.

This shop has our business for life. I called this shop to see if they could put a new battery in my daughters car on a Friday afternoon around 2 pm. Not only did they do it, they replaced a headlight and topped off the oil. ShortVine Star Motors is in a league of its own. My son lives in the Clifton and was having issues with car. I searched for a auto repair place in the area and found Star Motors online. We drove the car there with hopes of it still being open. It was late in the day and they were closed when we arrived. Much to my surprise, there was an after-hours phone number posted on the door. A quick phone call led to having permission to leave the car in front of the building. Matt went above and beyond the call-of-duty to accommodate us. Matt and his team are awesome! Although rare, It very refreshing to me to see that this type of business still exist in today’s world. I highly recommend them!

Took my newly purchased used car here for some issues it was having. Matt was very helpful from coordinating a drop off time, to texting me pictures of the issues and the cost while I was out of town, to being honest about what was needed versus what was optional. Definitely would trust them again and did not feel like they were just trying to sell things.

I’m a mechanic myself, so when i went to drop off the car for the first appointment and Matt told me he had a car come back again with reoccurring transmission problems and wouldn’t be able to get me in and out that day, i understood and appreciated his upfront honesty about the situation. A couple days later, i ended up being a few hours late for my second appointment and Matt still managed to get my tires replaced on a Friday! This is the shop you can trust.

Matt hooked me up! I was all out of options with trying to remove seized lug bolts on my car. Matt was super fast and had me out the door in no time. Great experience with good people!!!

We were having a transmission problem with my wife’s car for a while and were ready to trade it in. The dealership and a handful of transmission shops told us the transmission was blown, and we needed to replace it (5grand+ by their estimates). Matt was able to identify the problem and fix it in less than a day. The car has been perfect ever since. Saved us thousands of dollars and plenty of headaches. Honest and upfront with me since day one. Definitely recommend this shop!

UPDATE 7/1/2020: My son needed some service and an overall checkup again today. Matt quoted him a very fair estimate to do a bunch of work on his 2007 Volvo S60 with close to 90,000 miles on it. My son says it’s now running like a new car. Also, they fixed some botched prior service from another over-priced shop here locally in Cleveland. While my son is down in Cincinnati, Shortvine will be our go-to shop for auto service. Matt - you guys rock!So appreciative of Matt and team! My son attends college at UC and has been having some issues with his car. Took it to one of the larger chain shops and got overcharged and issue remains. Came across ShortVine via Google - and every positive review is legit. These guys are honest, reasonable and fix the issue at hand. In this line of business, its very easy to take advantage of people - especially vulnerable college students. I came here awhile back with issues on my old Equinox. I was originally looking for quotes for a pricey fix and the owner saw my frustration the situation. He suggested a much more cost efficient option for me and got me back on the road asap. I returned a second time with my new vehicle that had a problem that a dealer wouldve charged me an arm and a leg to fix. I found a simple fix on YouTube but didnt have the tools. Sure enough, they were nice enough to help me out as a walk in even though they were busy. Great customer service!

Took my tire in first thing this morning to be repaired and they were extremely polite, organized, and flexible. They were able to repair my tire and even put it back on my car for free when I came to pick it up. Great location too! I was able to go over my lunch break and be back in a half hour.

They fixed my car quickly and clearly explained to me what the problem was, and how it needed to be fixed. Matt is extremely nice, and I appreciated how he communicated with me about the status of my car and took great care of it. Ive been using Star Motors to take care of my cars for over a decade. They kept my one car running great for 17 years and then let me know that the clutch wasnt going to last much longer and the cost of the repair would be more than the value left in the car, so it was time to get a new car. Barry and the gang seem genuinely concerned about my safety and are quick and fair in pricing.

These guys are seriously the only people you should take your car to. Its the same few guys every time, so theyre accountable and they get familiar with your car, and you. Always friendly, always responsible and personable. They work with you, your times, what youd like them to look at, any questions, and they make it easy for you to understand, zero bs... They were honest about what I needed done first, what could wait, what causes the issues and how to prevent them, they told/showed me a lot about my vehicle and how to identify issues... And everything was done FAST. And money wise, I actually feel guilty because of how little i paid, for how much they did for me. Seriously. Above all else, THEY TAKE CARE OF YOU. Customer for life.

Very friendly staff, generous and informative while diagnosing a battery problem and when diagnosing a fuel pump issue. Only reason this review isnt 5 stars is a strange policy about increasing their labor costs when the part is bought third party. Quoted an hour more than a few places around (the other places didnt mind that the part was already bought). That being said, the staff was understanding and even recommended another local auto shop to check out that could get the repair done quickly and cheaply. Overall positive experience with these people twice.

You wont find many garages with perfect ratings, and this one has 100% earned it. I came in with a large chunk of debris in my tire, and, although they were busy and I planned to leave my car overnight, they finished it same day, and for a very friendly price. 100% would recommend this shop.

The people at Star Motors are very friendly and I feel comfortable leaving my car with them. They helped when a different shop messed up my car. They were thorough in documenting the mistakes which helped me get my money back from the initial mechanic.

Very honest people!Short story:I recently went to Midas for a checkup, and they listed a bunch of problems with my car. I got some work done there, but for one of the more expensive repairs, I called a few motor shops around me, and this place was by far the best priced. Once I got there, Matt inspected my car and told me that the problem identified by Midas was by no means an issue (saving me hundreds). Not to mention he didnt even charge me for the inspection.Hands-down the best place in the area. Youll feel comfortable knowing theyre not just trying to make money off you.

I have taken my car to numerous mechanics before Star Motors, all said they couldnt do anything to fix the problem. Star Motors mechanic fixed it in a few steps right in front of me. Very impressed with the service and honesty of the business. Came to Star Motors because my mechanic was closed. I will return to Star Motors with all my car problems now.

Matt was so awesome! We had been told my daughters car had needed a new rack and pinion and power steering pump by Tireman in Findlay, OH. Our daughter goes to UC and she wasnt able to come home to get it fixed. I am so thankful she didnt! We googled and found the good reviews for ShortVine Star Motors and she called to make an appointment, Matt got her car in right away and took pictures and videos of what was wrong. He text and told us there was absolutely nothing wrong with the pump and rack, He was so honest and fixed the car that never should have been driven when the other shop had told us it was safe. He saved us $600 and took great care of us. I would recommend this shop anyone. They are honest and do great work! Thank you Matt for all of your help!

I work down the street from Star Motors and came to work with a flat tire. They couldnt have been more helpful even though I was a first time customer. Even though they were completely booked, they squeezed me in anyway. At best, I was hoping to get my car back by the end of my work day but instead, they drove the car to me after about 20 minutes. They will now have a life long customer! If more businesses were more like them! I HIGHLY recommend them!

My car decided to make weird sounds right after moving to cincy and short vine star motors was such a great help. They got me in on such short notice and got the car fixed in a day. The service was excellent and my car sounds like it did before the move. The staff is also very friendly. I appreciate the hard work they did which saved me a headache. Star Motors is great! They have fixed items on my own and my daughters cars that were not repaired properly by prior mechanics. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to and the mechanics know what they are doing. And they worked with my schedule so I could get repairs made as quickly as possible.

I seriously cant tell you how great these guys are. As someone who knows nothing about car repair, theyve always been incredibly trustworthy and kind. Recently, after some insurance hassle, I actually had to take my car out of their shop and to another, but Star Motors was so nice about the whole thing.They do good work and dont do cheap, crappy parts. They replaced my starter and battery a while back and it runs great. Id absolutely return.

Ive gone to them a handful of times over the past year now for various repairs and oil changes, and Ive been nothing but happy. As a woman (and a fairly new car owner) I was nervous about going but they took the time to patiently explain everything well, helped prioritize the most important repairs, and didnt pressure me into anything. I went in recently for an oil change, and while my car was there a radiator hose blew, and they repaired it for free, with zero hesitation or questions asked. Ill definitely continue going there in the future!

Just before July 4th, my car needed a quick repair; the heat shield had come loose. All auto shops were naturally busy, so I left messages with several. Star Motors was the only shop that called me back, and the first shop that had an opening. I was in and out in less than a half hour -- for the price of a handshake. Great way to make a first impression!

Drove in from out of state with car making funny noises. Perfect setting for a mechanic to take advantage of us. But Star told us our problem was simple and they fixed it quickly, honestly and for little money. Very impressed.

Went in for some engine engine problems. I drive a 94 explorer so the parts needed to be shipped in. They overnighted the parts and I was back in my car the next day. Its been about two months since then and I have had no engine problems. The staff was very friendly and didnt overcharge me for anything. I will definitely bring my car back for future maintenance.

I went there a couple times with small issues but the quote they gave me was exorbitant. Example: $115 for changing a turn signal lamp, which another mechanic did for $10.Yes, the owner/mechanic Matt was upfront about the cost, so I have no complaints about anything shady going on. I appreciate him being direct and I can understand a good mechanic charging more for his time. But still, the $90 labor cost per hour seems unreasonable to me, specially for something so trivial. So, I’d recommend you not to take your car there if it’s not something big.I’ve never ended up servicing my car here so can’t comment on the quality of the work.

I foolishly locked my keys in my car while visiting the post office. Fortunately for me star motors was available to help. Matt was incredibly friendly and got me back into my car in no time at all! They sure won me over, now I know where Ill be taking my car for service in the future!

We have been customers of Star Motors for 40 years! So, they must be doing things right. The service has been excellent, the mechanics knowledgeable, and the prices reasonable. We hope Star Motors will be around for 40 more years.

I called after-hours and Matt answered the phone and got me in for a drop off the next morning. He wasnt there in the morning but the other technician said that even though it was only him and one other tech and they were booked all week, hed still be able to take a look at my Jeep today.I needed the reservoir for my coolant and another related part replaced. He ordered the parts around 9:30 am and called me at noon to tell me my Jeep was ready for pick up. He even gave me a discount for paying with cash.Fantastic, quick, kind, professional service at an affordable rate. I will be coming back with any other car repair needs.

They do an awesome job...easy to make an appointment and super friendly and honest staff.

Extremely customer friendly. I live in Middletown and I was concerned about my daughters car. She is a student at the University of Cincinnati. She had some problems with her car and I looked at all of the garages around where she is staying. Star Motors had the highest rating and I can honestly see why. They were very accommodating and willing to help. My daughter stopped by the garage to have them look at the radiator problem she had. They were very nice and conscientious and did not talk down to her which is unusual because a lot of places will talk down to women. So I would highly recommend this garage if you need help with your automobile.

Very friendly people. Came right out and helped me get a rounded lug nut off in about 2 min. These people deserve your business and I will be bringing my truck back here in the future
