Grease on my carpet, fluid at the bottom of the trucks transmission, waiting to see if it was spilled at the fill or if it is leaking.I dropped my truck off over the weekend while they werent there so I called and talked to person and let them know where I parked (actually talked to a person) called back on Monday at noonish and they did not know my truck was there,..They repaired, kept me informed all the way and it is shifting good runs smoothly. But if this was a newer truck, I would have had them to clean the carpet. And Ill let you know about that loose fluid later.
I was sure my car was finished, after all its 20 yrs old. But Cottmans had it running in one day. Very friendly and experienced staff. I will use them again if I need to.
My wife and I were in town from NC for her mothers funeral. The transmission was shifting differently than usual and we were needing to leave to go home. Another garage suggested i take it to a transmission shop and it was 3:30 in the afternoon. I googled the closest one to us which was Cottman. I called and spoke with Mike and he helped my find my way over because Google maps was giving the wrong directions. He got me there and had a technician drive with me to check it out. The technician was very knowledgeable and explained how the newer transmissions have computers that adjust shifting to your driving habits. He helped figure that it was normal after checking the fluid lever and the fluid itself for burning smell or unusual appearance. I was greeted and the testing was done professionally and courteously. They had me back on the road quickly and ready to travel back home. I highly recommend this shop for their courtesy and customer service. Mike was a little gruff because of a previous stroke, I think, but was very helpful and knew exactly what I needed. Thanks to them the stress was gone.
Excellent service affordable and excellent customer service Mike was very helpful very knowledgeable and customer friendly wonderful place love it.Thank you
I took my sons car to the shop for a transmission related issue and they found a ton of terrible and unsafe work that was done on the right front passenger side. They called me in to show me and then fixed the issues. Now I feel much safer with my son driving his car!
We had a transmission from truck out of our fleet go out. Not only did they prioritize us but the quality of work and kindness was next to none. They were able to get us back up and running with little disruption to our business. As a small business ourselves, we like to support other small businesses and Cottman Transmission is a great one with great people!
These Guys were AWESOME, very upfront with the general inspection and cost of a rebuilt transmission, the cost was very close to what I was expecting and they kept me updated on my vehicle and sent me an email when it was done. I highly recommend doing business with them and Ill definitely be going back for anything else that I need. Thanks Guys!
Went in suspecting the worst...you know transmission! However, it wasnt that and the guys had to do some serious detective work to find the problems. Which they did. Best of all they communicated very clearly and promptly with us. We really are grateful for all the work & timely manner in which it was done. Cottman Transmission was professional & polite. We trust them completely, and would use them again if needed. Thank you!
Work was done as quoted. Rebuilt my transmission took just three days. Working just like new. No issues before during or after the work was completed. Very good clean job
Mike and Nick (the owner) of Cottman are fantastic. They did as much as they could to soften the blow of the need for a new transmission on my 1998 Lexus LS 400. At about 160k it was about time. Upon finishing the transmission work, my car did not run well. It was missing or vibrating or something. Without any hesitation, they took the car back and did an extensive diagnostic process. When it exceeded their expertise, they offered and carried out taking it to other techs to determine the cause. I understand things happen coincidentally and they went the extra mile to ensure it was not their work and to determine the cause. They took my perspective. I brought it in running one way (although with a bad transmission) and it drove a different way when I picked it up. Their attitude could have been so different and was a breath of fresh air. In the meantime, they provided me a loaner at no charge. I highly recommend them for fair and honest service.
Excellent company to do business with. explained and answer all questions I had. repairs done in a timely manner. and follow up calls to make sure I was satisfied with the work.
I thought it was my transmission going out so I called the shop, they got me in right away and found out it was actually my brakes. They could have pulled one over on me but they didnt. They were so nice and so professional. They were concerned about my safety (the brakes were VERY bad). I will continue to use their services going forward.
Very happy with the job they did. Mike explained the work needed to be done, and the costs involved. They even offered me a ride home when I dropped off the car. Good trustworthy transmission repair shop.
They did an excellent job on the my transmission . And s a w that my axle was bad and contacted me for permission to get another axle and even delivered my car to the Firestone tire shop not far away at my request with no charge . their service was great.
Quick and reasonably price. They gave more additional information on repairs they dont handle. Helpful and reasonable price.
My service was amazing and quick. Mike is an absolute sweetheart and Sid was funny. Thank you so much!!!
Great service, honest information, and helpful advice. Everyone was amazing to work with and I would highly recommend Mike, Nick, and Sid to anyone who has questions about transmission issues.
Had an issue I thought was a transmission problem. Cottman diagnosed as a universal and another part. Honest and economical work performed. Will be back in the future. Thanks !
Good experience! Great customer service and repair time! I would definitely recommend!
Ive always been a take it to the dealer person for car repair but after being let down by the dealer repeatedly I was in the market for a reliable and trustworthy place. I found them! The Cottman team took such great care of me and my car. They were helpful and informative. And super sweet to my daughter who waited with me for the repair. I was quickly back on the road in a safe car that runs smoothly again. I cannot recommend them enough! Great service with honesty and integrity.
Needed a transmission for my car and Cottman replaced it in a timely manner and professionally. A few days later the check engine light came on, which had never come on before and Cottman diagnosed and fixed it at no additional charge.
They were terrific.
I want to say the mechanic Mike maybe be the owner not to sure but it don’t matter what he is he is an absolute angel like his deeds will not go unnoticed my niece saidi went in their to get her car fixed that had no breaks she actually lost a break and had a shifter cable and this angel Mike took care of her as if she was his own little girl in need of some help giving she has a little baby and only 20 he took her under his wing and helped her when no one else did and he didn’t give it a second thought it was just what she was needing if you are needing honest work and good people this is by far the place to go I do not write reviews ever this is actually my first one I am so moved by his kind work I am here to tell everyone pay it foward it will come back to you Mike thank you sooo very much especially in times of need you literally are a angel!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did a very good job everything was explained and done in a timely fashion very happy with work done
Highly recommend! If you sense any potential issues with your transmission, I highly suggest you take your vehicle to Cottman ASAP. They provide a free diagnostic check and you could potentially save yourself quite a bit of money by acting quickly. My experience with these folks was outstanding, all the guys were highly knowledgeable and experienced. They patiently provided all the information regarding my vehicle and made the needed repairs much quicker than Ive experienced with other vehicles/repair shops in the past. Definitely 5 stars!
I brought my older model trailblazer in with some nagging issues that I was pretty concerned about. Cottman could have spun the whole diagnosis into my needing a whole new transmission cooling system or worse yet that my transmission was going out like almost any other shop in the area would have likely done to me. Instead they replaced only the leaking transmission cooler lines, and road tested it to make sure that was the only issue. Mike and Nick were great to work with and talk to. They seemed genuinely interested in getting my vehicle running right but not at the expense of cleaning me out. I had a separate repair going on some time later and it actually ran over what their estimated price was too me and worked things around on their end with pricing so I only paid the previously estimated price. I think this place is honestly one of the last good, full service mechanic shops in the area doing business with a great deal of integrity. If I ever have an issue with any of my vehicles from now on I’m taking them or having them towed to Cottman. Earned a customer for life.
Cottman Transmission was a great experience for us. They were polite, very attentive and did an excellent job on my wife’s SUV. Mike who answers the phone is really a nice person and easy to deal with. Nick the owner runs a clean and professional business. We made the right choice by selecting Cottman to work on our SUV.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They diagnosed what was wrong my car right away and gave me a fair price to fix it. My car is now running great! I would definitely recommend them and I will use their services in the future.
I highly recommend Cottman Transmission. They run their business with high integrity. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.I had a problem with my speedometer registering a high speed. They checked it out and found that that the button for speed was set on kg. He reset the button at no charge to me. They went over and above my expectations.
These people are amazing!!!! They came to my house immediately and got my truck and went ABOVE AND BEYOND!!! Mike is fantastic!! Always keeping me in the loop and getting things done super fast!! I can’t thank them enough for everything they did, especially the way they had my truck up and running in no time!! I absolutely love these people and recommend them to anyone!!! And nick is awesome too! But mike is absolutely hands down amazing!! Thanks guys sooooo much!!
The frustration of suddenly being out of your primary vehicle is stressful. Thankfully the folks at cottman were quick to get us taken care of. The work was done fast, the people were friendly and they helped us to get back on the road with minimal fuss at a reasonable price. I will definitely use them again!
Great and fast service. Had to have my transfer casing replaced. Got my car back the next day. I definitely recommend them
Mike was very helpful and explained everything thoroughly to me as we went. I felt like I had a good grasp of what was wrong, why, and what work they did.
Good people
I had planned to write this review last August but forgot. Cottman installed a my transmission around Aug 2018 and its still running smooth after about 15k miles. Im completely satisfied with the service and they finish about 2 days early.
Extremely customer focused team, quality services and great follow up.
Mike Pierce is so caring and very risk averse. That is what you need in a repair shop. I appreciate the entire service team. Nick provides good support as the shop owner. I had an unrelated problem and they fixed it at their dime - who does that these days? Great guys.
Ive used cottmans transmission for a couple different things and also referred several people and every time theyve done a great job were honest and reasonably priced and after they were done a couple days later they reached out to me to ask if everything was ok and the way it should be anytime I need anything done with my transmission they will be the first ones Ill call
Very helpful staff. Thanks for getting my car back on the road so quickly!
Took my car in here due to clutch issues... Figured it was a cylinder issue and they agreed, repaired the cylinder within 2 days. It was a little pricey but you definitely are getting what you payed for. The staff was very helpful and professional as well as friendly.. The reason Im giving them a 5 though is they went above and beyond with their customer service, and they did not talk down to you like a lot of Auto places will.
Took my ram 2500 there to see why it was slipping an turns out it was a small easy fix but they were certain I should get a new drive shaft cause that’s why it was slipping
Its refreshing to deal with a repair shop that is honest and upfront about pricing and diagnostics. Manager Mike Pierce shot me straight and kept me in the loop regarding what needed repaired and what it would cost including labor. To be fair I had drivetrain work done and although not their specialty they got me rolling again with no issues and good as new.
The manager mike is a stand up guy. Very professional and straight forward. Everybody that worked on my vehicle I appreciate it. I am gonna make sure I refer everybody to Cottman Transmissions. He and his shop will be getting all of my business from here on out. Mike is very understanding and willing to work with you. If you have any work, go to Cottman Transmissions!
These guys were fantastic. I always do all my own work, but the Edge I have needed a transmission. I brought a reman unit I bought from Street Smart transmissions as I dont have a hoist, a lift, or the ambition to do the job lately. Sid put it in and let me know my axles needed replaced as did a few mounts. I checked them out, and he was right on the money. They need replaced and I have a warranty on the shafts being a year old. They were 100% honest about what the car needed and kept me in the loop the entire time. Mike in the front is awesome and hilarious. Nick, the owner, is very honest and forthcoming. Being a mechanic myself I know its frustrating working on other mechanics things, but they did great and I will use them again for larger jobs I just dont care to do anymore.
Very helpful guys. The fact that they will inspect your car for a problem for no charge is a huge bonus to me. Any time something comes up i cannot fix easily myself they will have my business.
I really like working with Mike and the team at Cottman - they are so professional, honest and thorough. I really trust them to give the true assessment on what the car needs, and then do a great job fixing the problem, and at a great price!
Cottman Transmission went above and beyond for us in the last week fixing our car. It was a big job and was completed in a timely manner! Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication! We will definitely be recommending this shop for transmission work!
I have to go back for them to look at it better. They dont know if its transmission or engine
I have to concur with the other reviewers. Mike and the staff are tremendous. It pays to get the best deal you can, but it remains a truism that you get what you pay for. That doesnt mean Cottman is expensive. It means your paradigm should be the best VALUE; the best combination of price, workmanship, and service after the sale. In that area, Cottman excels. If I could litter the internet with positive reviews, I would. Cottman has a great reputation they have EARNED,
Been using them for years and have always had good experiences.
Super friendly service and quick turnaround. I recommend Cottmans to anybody who wants a place that is committed to excellence!
Mike was fantastic. He actually took several minutes to read over my extended warranty policy and point out pitfalls within my plan that could have cause me to actually VOID my plan without doing anything!! I know a fair amount about car repairs and I felt like he was being completely honest with the repairs and what needed to be done and exactly how long it was going to take. He wasnt one of those guys trying to sell me something that wasnt needed. My car is actually running better now than it ever has since Ive owned the car. The transmission is doing great so far and they fixed both axles too. They even provided a loaner car while my car was being repaired. It wasnt anything fancy, but it saved me a couple hundred dollars by not needing to get a rental. But, more than just fixing the transmission though, I actually felt like they treated me like a person...not just a number. They did all the little things necessary to earn my business for as long as theyre in business. Other places Ive gone to for car repairs I felt like I could have gotten more personality from a computer.
I brought my 98 Firebird to these guys and not only were they very professional but they were quick about getting it fixed and reasonably priced as well. They also inform me of other issues I had with my car and offered to meet me after hours so that I could pick up my car. If I ever need transmission work again I know exactly where Im going. Thanks for everything guys, I appreciate it.
Great
Sent work to them and had to take transmission they put in back out and replace it myself should of done it in the first place. Then they didnt return the core to Tresters auto parts and put the old Torq converter in the transmission that was contaminated with shavings from old Trans not only that let it leave with a line leak. But I guess if you want things done RIGHT you have to do it yourself!
The place is great in terms of expertise and repair time. Replaced axel shafts on both sides of my 2007 Caliber, took them ~4 hours. Paid ~$700 - 400 for parts and 300 for labor which is pricey but had no choice. I wish these repair shops could replace parts with the ones you bring with you - that would cut the price off for at least 30%.
Our 2010 Dodge Journey had been making a noise for about 2 months. We took it to Cottman on Old St Rt 74 in Eastgate and havent regretted the experience yet. The staff are incredibly friendly and even gave me a significant military discount. We would highly recommend this business and will be using them again if its ever needed.
Did a great job for my car, but shouldve told me they broke my WV license plate cover, other than that good job well done and finished in a timely manner!👍🏾
Mike at the Batavia location is great and so is the staff. He explains everything very well and you can trust them to take care of your car. I recommend taking any make and model to them not only for transmission work but for any car problem.Go Cottman!
Very professional and honest. Repairs were done in a few days and for a good price.
Work was top quality. Treat you with respect and answer all your questions. Did it right the first time and kept us informed throughout the entire time the car was in the shop. Would re moment to anyone.
They do the best work, they are dependable and honest!
Excellent work❗️ Excellent communication on details for work required ❗️Recommended for any work needed ❗️💯 % Satisfaction ❗️Only place Ill ever take my vehicle in future ❗️Greatly appreciate respect given to customer service ❗️
Dont bring your car here if youre a female and alone. A year ago they insisted I needed my entire engine rebuilt, a job that would cost well over $3000, when I had already had them rebuild my transmission a year earlier. They told me if I didnt my engine would burst into flames. Yes, really. He continued to insist that I dump another 3k on my 22 year old vehicle only valued at $1000, because Its a shame because it only has 85,000 miles on it. And here I am a year later with only new spark plugs and a new EGR valve and my engine has yet to catch on fire. Now I question if I even needed my transmission rebuilt in the first place.
Trial and error is what I went through here. I stressed to them that Im on disability, I cannot afford to put too much into it just figure out why it isnt starting right, well when he called to tell it was gonna be about 1600 I think for a front axel that was going out a cadiltic converter and gaskets, tune up. However he convinced me that I need to get this done, I knew the c.c.would make your car act crazy. So I let them do the work and it still had the same problems when I got it back. I called and said they would check it out. Now i need another part for over 200..I said to him I cant afford to do anything else, he said if it doesnt work I wont charge you ok well ok I said. After a week or so I pick up the car,I payed half of that 212... drive it home it seemed ok. A day or so later I decide to go somewhere and it wouldnt stay running at all. I was furious. I call and tell him whats going on and he says theyll come get it and It will be fixed right this time I said its probably been the fuel pump the whole time. They did get it right this time but I have yet to receive my 100.00 back on the part that didnt work. Oh and the bill was paid in full the first go round. My brother was hesitant but he paid it for me. In the end I finally got my car back on the road. However the whole month of January was TRIAL AND ERROR Happy that my car is fixed but still disappointed and wont be going back.
I recently had to bring my jeep in for service & being someone who doesnt know what the torque converter & planetary block is (see I paid attention & took notes) - Mike went out of his way to explain to me what those are & what they do. He explained it in terms that I understood. Being a woman who is so not knowledgeable with mechanical things - I am very happy that I chose Cottmans to repair my jeep. They kept their word on the timing of the repair & the cost up front. Its definitely nice to support the businesses that are literally right up the road from you. Thank you for making my jeep safe again for me to drive. Donna Rabe
My 1993 Dodge Dakotas rear end went out in Cincinnati on my way to Dallas, TX and I had it towed here. It was making all sorts of howling and generally unpleasant noises. Mike told me I was his high priority from day one: he searched and found a used rear end, which didnt work, so he then got right on finding all new parts. It was rebuilt in a matter of a couple days. They were then checking it out and found some bad front end parts (showed them to me) which they replaced (and which my hometown mechanic missed when he inspected it!). I would definitely go to Cottman again.
They are the best. Wont take my car anywhere else
Great
Mike and Nick are stand up guys would send anyone here for transmission work by far the best in town....
We are a family of 5 travelling through Ohio from NC, totally unfamiliar with the area. I find Cottmans shop has great reviews so,called them first to make sure they could take my 28-30 RV. per Cottmans main website they service RVs. They said bring it in and they will look at it. I brought it in. I parked outside their garage and the mechanic checked the radiator fluid for transmission fluid and transmission lines and dipstick and I think he looked under it for leaks around the bell housing, pump, etc. Found no leaks, despite me having to add 1/4 to 1/2 quart of Mercon V about every 160-200miles. Mechanic suggested it was an engine issue and maybe I need a tune up. Fine, but the only problem is their engine mechanic guy couldnt look at it until the next week--7 to 10days. Fine, I can wait, but then I was told the RV would be problematic to look at given they didnt have a lift big enough for it or a bay that could not get it up high enough--it would be problematic. So they direct me to S & L Garage. Fine; I drive over to them, and the guy comes out shaking his head no-no-no, before I could get out of the RV and tells me he cant look at it--no room in bay and he doesnt work outside on hot days and that the new guy gave Cottman wrong info for directing us there. Fine, I leave hot and unhappy, and call back Cottman to see if his engine repair dude could see us next week as we are in no rush. The mgr is like... well, you see, perhaps, ...then says it would be problematic(28-30 class c rv is could be too big) and suggested another place. The tentative good news per Cottman is my RV isnt leaking fluid and they seemed nice enough and sincere enough, so maybe the transmission is ok? Im still left with an unresolved issue that could still be transmission related, though the engine could have some to most part in it. I just hope my family and I are not left stranded roadside because the transmission fails. After all this I went to walmart and bought a quart of Mercon V.***Update Edit / Nearly 1 to 2yrs later and the trans seems to be catching or slightly making a thud when going up from the lowest gears. The addition of tran. fluid early on(over a yr or two ago) did seem to help the initial troubles that led me to Cottman. I was in Cincinnati area all of last winter, spring and summer and plan to be in the Cincinnati area through the winter, but I will likely avoid Cottoman for transmission repairs. /End update.
We had our car towed as we thought it started a transmission problem. Turned out it wasnt. They seemed to take the extra time and figure out the problem, which they did! The cost was alot less than a transmission!
Go there with confidence.
Awsome place
Really they are the best
Nick takes care of his customers.
