Wonderful little shop with an excellent selection of local yarns. Staff is helpful but not pushy. Friendly, welcoming, well-maintained website!
Excellent coffee and sandwiches. Donut looked good but the donut guy got distracted by the classic video games
So helpful, went above and beyond to answer my questions and help me find the right pattern and yarn!
Not very friendly or welcoming, but a good selection.
So much beautiful yarn!! It was so hard walking out with only a few skeins.
Great selection of yarn and super helpful staff
They went above and beyond to help me find a new project that fit my gift card. Taught me a new skill at the the same time.
Good selection of yarns
Great people. Great store. Very clean and well kept. My wife come here a lot. Its like her 2nd family.
Cannot say enough nice things about this shop. It is so beautiful and the selection is to die for. The staff could not be more polite and knowledgeable. LOVE this place!!
I have never felt welcome in that store! You always get the look down as if to sense if you have enough money to even be in there! I get it I look young but even if I was as young as I look I’m not there to steal your yarn, I’m here with a budget to buy yarn! Now that I have established the bad vibe/customer service, let’s add a layer to this! So Chicago has this yarn crawl every year and the participating LYS offer free patterns to the crawlers! It’s always fun! Well this year the patterns offered by Nina are a ripped off by another Chicago designers and instead of having an open discussion about it they have decided to delete and block everyone who is speaking up about it!Conclusion bad practice all around! So if you want delicious yarn look around for another LYS!!
The staff is extremely friendly here. Also my go to spot for gifts for my mom. This place never disappoints!
I really love Nina! They always have what I need and are super helpful. Their new location is awesome and I’m looking forward to trying some sewing or embroidery sometime.
Love this shop, always find something for my partner here
Super friendly local yarn store with a wide variety of yarns and related accessories. They will answer project questions if youre stuck, help you navigate ravelry if you dont know what to make, and offer classes if you are just getting started. They also host open knitting times if you want to be social.
I had such a wonderful experience here. I was visiting Chicago and decided to make a journey of walking to the shop from where I was staying (about an hour each way) and it was totally worth it! Nina was so helpful! She brought up the pattern that I wanted to make on the stores computer and helped me choose the right yarn that I needed for my shawl. The store was so well curated and made for an easy shopping experience. It was my favorite shop that I went to in Chicago during my visit.
Absolutely awesome selection of yarns and very friendly and helpful staff. Best yarn store weve found in a long time. Reasonable pricing and definitely looking forward to the next visit! Thanks ladies for the pleasant shopping experience!
Beautiful selection of yarns, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely be going back when I have more time and money!
Had a wonderful experience here. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Great selection with a range of yarns and notions. Wish I could have spent more time and money!!!
Visiting from Canada, this shop was the perfect place to choose. They had a great selection of beautiful hand-dyeds that I hadn’t seen before, plus knowledgeable and friendly service. Wish I could have spent more time and money here! Looks like a great place to have a community.
Beautiful yarns. Helpful and knowledgeable staff
Super helpful staff, helped me work out how much yarn I needed for my pattern and helpers me choose the perfect colours. Spent over an hour in the store, everyone was lovely and friendly, great atmosphere and awesome selection!
I work at a yarn shop in Canada, and this was a must see stop on my trip to Chicago. Nina and her staff were really friendly, and there was a nice selection of yarns and beautiful notions I dont normally get to see. The space itself is gorgeous. I also loved that my uninterested partner had a place to sit comfortably while I geeked out.
Awesome store. Very friendly and helpful staff. Its so nice to still see a unique yarn shop with a gorgeous selection of yarns.
Loved this shop. Went with LYT for their first trolley tour. Nina was on the list. Fantastic yarn and fantastic staff. Cant wait to be back!!!
Wonderful selection and very helpful people.
Nina the store owner was very nice to me and to the other out of town visitor. She was friendly, but she did NOT hover (like some stores do). Really nice upscale yarn.
What a terrible experience, I walked in with a sweater that had a hole in it. I just wanted to get some matching yarn and some assistance in selecting the correct tool (was going to mend it myself). When I walked in there was a group of people at the check out, and this attractive red head smiled at me. I assumed she was with the group up front, and thought she was just surprised to see a man in a yarn store and was being a tad flirtatious. Then the group left, and she was still there, after me standing there for a while she finally said hi. I said hello back, and the she started to walk away, when I asked her if she worked there. She did work there, apparently I was supposed to guess that, I proceeded to take my sweater out of the bag that I brought it in with and show her the hole. before I could even get out what I was looking to do the woman behind the counter, I think Nina, said we dont do that here, you will have to go to a tailor, or take it back to where you bought it. Ok, so I yarn store doesnt sell yarn, oh, thats right, you dont even know what I came in for yet, because you didnt even let me finish. I explained I was planning on doing it myself, if they could help me pick out yarn and the tools needed. They acted as if they just wanted me to leave, the sales person, kept on picking up yarn that was nowhere near the color and saying things like this is going to be real expensive. Then she walked away saying sorry, thats my friend I havent seen in a long time, I had had enough and just told them thanks, and left. At first I thought their rudeness was because they where not accustomed to seeing a man in the store, but after reading reviews on several different sites I see it is normal there. Went to Joanne fabric on Elston, found the yarn I was looking for, and a woman there is going to mend it for me. I will never go back for any reason, and I will warn my aunt and sisters who knit to stay away
Love this place, and the new owner is fantastic! The selection was great, I felt very welcome, and I could tell they are reinvesting back into the business.
This place has an amazing selection of yarn. Its well organized in a wide range of colors. Its tough to walk out empty handed!
I went to this place in the begining of the year. I was interested in learning how to knit, they were very helpful. I knitted my first scarf and I love it! They have a lot of colors and different yarns to choose from.
Lovely selection of high end yarn with many inspiring samples to get you excited about your next project.
Awesome selection of yarn! Superior service too!
Nice selection of yarn. Absolutely terrible service. Felt unwelcome as soon as I stepped in the door. Woman was extremely rude and condescending when I didnt know the exact needle size I wanted to purchase and asked to see a few different sizes. Wont be returning.
Very nice knitting place with beautiful yarn. The person in the shop was very nice.
Well-curated yarn and fiber shop right off the Blue Line Division stop. Hand-dyed, various fibers and weights--really nice staff.
I took a class there and the everyone was very helpful. I would definitely take another class there
I am a very loyal customer to LYS..but Nina is the rudest I have ever met. I read reviews about her and thought they were just angry people...but no! She really is that cold and rude. I will never return to this store. I have gone here twice-a YEAR apart and had same, rude Nina. The second time I went there I even asked her name to make sure it was just not a rude employee that the owner should know about. Nope! it was the owner. Its a bummer that she does not have a warm, friendly personality. Ill continue going to Sister Art studio, SiFu, Loopy and pretty much anyone else.
I have continually dealt with rude service here. On my last and final visit the women who was working was rushing me and was extremely unhelpful and rude. When I over heard someone call her Nina I left. I realized that this was the owner and the source of so many bad experiences here. No more tries.
One of my favorite places in Chicago.
Always a happy experience.
