A great selection of arts and crafts from local artists along with enough vinyl to take up an afternoon of browsing.
I love this place. It’s starts off with the standard Chicago trinkets. But as move to the middle and back of the shop you discover all these new cool things, such as the artwork. The artwork was beautiful, I bought three pieces from them as gifts to friends. I wanted to get the big oil painting in the way back, but it was way out of my price range, but still gorgeous.
A big variety of neat stuff to check out, with a nice dude behind the counter
I have visited this shop several times and it always has a great selection of merchandise. Lots of products showcasing Chicago artists that make great gifts or something new for your home. Check out the unique greeting cards for when you need to put a pen to paper. Stop shopping online and check out this place because you won’t regret it. Service is friendly and knowledgeable too.
Great shop! Books, music, art and other things that you must have in your life. The owner, Rafael, is very personable and helpful. Once again, a great shop!
I wish I could get here as often as I used to. Transistor was on my weekend Andersonville treks’ before the pandemic. I like the original local art they carry and the owner is very hands on and even works all aspects of the shop and sales. A must on any Andersonville shopping trip.
Great shop with a mix of gifty items and tourist-friendly Chicago mementos up front but as one moves in, there’s original art, fine art prints, photography, posters, LPs & books of varying styles to discover. Friendly staff. Don’t pass it up.
All the cool stuffs you wish you had. Super awesome proprietor.
The store is small, limited, and a little overpriced. However the owner is super cool, interesting, and willing to come down on prices. He really knows about cool records and audio gear. Sold me some really nice local band records. Did not regret stopping in. Also the store has some unique Chicago merch if youre interested in that.
This place has a great selection of new vinyl below the typical sticker prices Ive seen around Chicago. I usually walk out with an album or two I didnt know I needed til I got there. Great taste and great service if you want to talk shop about music or get a recommendation.
One of the coolest and most unique stores in the city. One of my favorite places to bring people if theyre from out of town.
I love this place...I wish I can use them for all of my house decor
Awesome art, lots of good records, retro movies, and other gifts!
Its a cool little store with an eccentric arrangement of music based goods
I love this store, fun place to shop with so many different surprises. Books, art, records, original movie posters, cool lights, jewelry, and really the coolest of the cool.
Fun little shop in the heart of Andyville. Love the local artist lamps! So unique!
Amazing store with unique handmade crafts, lamps, steampunk art, and tons of Chicago themed artwork. Plus, they sell turntables, Bluetooth speakers, vinyl, greeting cards, tees, etc. I was there for an after hours comedy show. If you love shopping local, Chicago, or just looking for cool gift ideas this is a great place.
Rafael (owner) runs a beautiful shop with great art, music and a great atmosphere.
Neat little hidden shop with lots of local crafts. Small selection, but well worth a visit if youre shopping down the street.
Great place for eclectic art, books and music
Awesome shop with a unique selection of product. Its definitely worth checking out.
Very nice owner, let us look around after hours, will definitely be back to spend more time.
This shop has some very interesting electronics and records.
This shop has lots one of a kind gifts.
Cool atmosphere, great collection of stuff!
Very interesting selection of modern industrial repurposed goods as well as decor and interesting gifts.
I live in the same building as Transistor and cant describe how happy it makes me to see people gathered in there for events and hear random bits of music, films, poetry and other performances from Chicagos up and coming talent as I do my laundry. Community, guys - Im into it. Ive shopped for gifts at Transistor quiet a few times. The recipients have always been happy with the quality and uniqueness, and again, I love that this shop helps facilitate local artists. Ive been to a small chain of stores in the Loop that says its a North American retailer, but I used to manage a NA gallery and recognize many of the items to be Chinese knockoffs. Transistor is legit - Ive even met a number of the artists he carries at various street shows around Chicago. I say he because Ive met the owner of Transistor and see him working the shop all the time. That kind of dedication is rare these days - as well as the humility it takes to list his staff in alphabetical order, putting himself in the middle with no special header for himself - and I applaud Andy Miles for it.
Nice vibe, very friendly staff, all new records, great experience.
I want everything in the store! Beautiful, functional art.
I could spend an almost endless amount of time in here looking at all the cool things they have on display. Music, cards, art...they have a little bit of everything!
SUPER COOL place for Chicago transportation memorabilia.
