My exam was rescheduled to an earlier day which was fine. I can understand trying to get all appointments in on one day. The appt went well. I was notified on 8/4 that my glasses were ready for pick up and told the hours of operation for the next two days. Hours are also posted online. When I went to pick up the glasses (after confirming also the hours of operation online), the office was closed during posted open hours with a sign on the door. This hasn’t been convenient as I paid for glasses and now am not sure when I will be able to pick them up as I work full time and am now currently out of town. I wish i had been advised that I couldn’t come get my glasses during the time that I was initially told the business was open. A little communication to help the customer would be great in a situation like this. You know you have someone coming to pick up. The outgoing message leaves no detail as to when the office will truly be open again, just a sign on the door. Please review this. It gives the impression that the office values a long weekend, modifies their schedule and it’s too bad if you happen to come by for service. That’s the impression, whether true or not. I’m disappointed to have to chase down my glasses now. I missed work to try to pick up my glasses. Not convenient at all. When are you open again?

I’ve been going to the Irving Park location for the almost 20 years I’ve lived in Chicago. I used to live a few blocks away from their office, but after moving up to Rogers Park, I still trek my way down to them for eye appointments. Yes, they’re *THAT GOOD*.Everyone is so kind. Best staff ever.

Avoid this office.$210 for an eye exam for a new contacts prescription. Thats just for the exam, not the contacts. They didnt have any tester contacts with my new script in the office so I was given something else until I could order my own contacts (another $200+). Three weeks later (new contacts in hand) and it was obvious the new prescription was wrong and words still appeared blurry out of my left eye. Also, the doctor changed me to toric lenses and they still hurt and irritate my eyes. After $400 I have a prescription that is no good and a year supply of contacts that irritate my eyes and only half correct my vision. Coupled with a very rude receptionist I suggest going anywhere else for your vision needs.

They are so helpful!!! Full disclosure: this is not my regular eye doctor, but they came to my rescue so I have reason to believe they are amazing! I was around the corner for an opera rehearsal and ripped my contact within 5 minutes of starting. Faced with the idea of 5 hours of rehearsal being blind in one eye, I did a quick Google search and ran to their office. The receptionist was so helpful and a quick call and a very reasonable fee later I had new contacts in my hand and was back at my rehearsal within 20 minutes! I can highly recommend their very friendly and professional staff and of I ever move to the area, I will definitely make them my regular eye doctor!

The opticians are so friendly & professional & really took their time to make sure I was happy with myselection when I picked out a frame, & also that the fit & prescription were correct when I picked them up. We moved to the suburbs a few years ago but there’s a reason I keep going back. The customer service is excellent!

Dr. Blodgett is a wonderful optometrist -- Ive gone to her for a few years now. My appointments have always been on time and the staff always responds to questions I may have throughout the year about prescriptions or whatever. I recommend Northcenter Eye Care.

My contacts come in quickly, and they call when theyre available. Highly recommend Northcenter Eye Care.

I was very happy with the quality of the general eye exam I got. The optometrist was professional and thorough. She provided good, complete explanations for everything and was excellent about responding to my questions. My prescription hadnt changed so I didnt need new glasses, and they did not push me to buy a pair (unlike other places I have been). If I decide a I want a second pair, or when my prescription changes, they will get my business!

I used to love coming here when Dr. Liz worked at this office. However since she left I have called the place three times and had my pharmacy call them once to try to get a refill of my prescription for eye drops. They just never bothered to do it, or to have a doctor speak with me. Once when I called their phones were down and I had to try back multiple times, completely wasting my time. I’ll be finding a new eye doctor and do not recommend this place as it seems to have really gone downhill.

I have been going to North Center Eye Care for thirty years. Only when I moved away for awhile did I stop going. Dr Seigel is great and so are the other doctors on staff. Their selection of frames is very current and stylish yet they cater to all ages. Isabelle is a great manager and has worked their for many years. I cannot say enough nice things about her. She really knows here stuff. I also get my contacts here.

Been coming here for years, and all the doctors there are top notch (Ive seen 2 of the ones practicing and am extrapolating their level of expertise and ability to the other doctors). The staff is great and the frame selection for glasses is huge. While I normally wear contact lenses (which have always been spot on accurate and comfortable). I also got help with selecting a pair of glasses that really helped me find something unique, but totally suited to my face and personality.

I and my family have been going to Northcenter Eye Care for more than a decade. Very professional and knowledgable staff and a great selection of glasses. When my frames broke right before an overseas trip, they were able to find a similar frame and grind down the lenses right there in the store. Would recommend to friends and family.

Before my visit, I was called and asked for insurance. I let the woman on the phone know that I had material insurance for glasses through EyeMed and my eye exam would be covered through my BCBS PPO plan and gave her the information about that plan. She told me that she would look up my BCBS insurance and that if she didnt call me back it meant that everything went through and I was approved.I showed up for my exam without double checking coverage because the woman on the phone told me that she would have called back if there was an issue. I got my exam and AFTER my exam someone mentioned I only had material insurance. I re-told the receptionist that I had BCBS insurance for my eye exam. They told me that they did not pre-check that I was covered and had done nothing since the call where I gave my BCBS information. I would never have consented to an appointment if I knew that I was going out of network but I didnt call to make sure I was covered because the receptionist told me that I would have gotten a call of I was not covered. They spent about an hour on the phone with BCBS, never figured out if I was actually covered or not (they ended up saying I wasnt) and I left to call BCBS on my own since they couldnt give me a definitive answer. I will never be returning here--I would never have gone through with it if I had known I was out of network.

I was very disappointed with my experience. The Initial appointment with the doctor went well she’s checked my eye that’s been bugging me. They were able to get me relatively quickly, and were very kind. The Blue Cross Blue Shield plan that I have with local 63 ironworks covers most of this cost. However, at the Follow up appointment For an exam to get new contacts it was not quite the same experience. Through our union we have a benefit package instead of vision insurance. This package allows us one free I exam and covers $350 towards contacts and lenses. As being my first time using this benefits package I first called the management group to see if I would pay upfront or of the eye doctors to bill them. They informed me that most doctors would just directly bill the benefit management group.I think called the eye doctor to inform them of my benefit package. I respectively asked them to contact the benefit management group for a briefing on how our package works. At which time I asked if I would need to bring money in to cover the appointment.They informed me that I would not have to and to just come in for my appointment. I arrived at the appointment And was immediately seen by one of the Assistance to run test. I was then brought into the doctors office where I waited for the doctor.After several minutes another assistant came in. They informed me that I did not have vision insurance in which I was well aware of.This being the exact reason why I called them to ask the eye doctor my benefit management group for a briefing of how my benefits work. After waiting several more minutes another assistant I’m into the room to Inform Me that I would have to pay for the exam upfront. Not only did they fail To contact my benefit group for explanation of my benefits but I had to leave the office and Could not get my exam Because I did not bring cash with me. The assistant told me they would re-schedule and give me an a soon as possible so I should expect a call the following day. Not only was it is a very embarrassing moment because I had to leave the office but try never called.If you are in a UNION of any kind and have a benefit package or even if you have regular vision insurance, I ask that you do not use this company for any services in support of your union brother.I’ve let my Union know my experience and they have since removed this company from the list of recommended eye doctors.Thank you all for the support.Sincerely, Local 63 ironworker, Austin Urbanec

Ive been to this optical office for 3 years. The staff and opticians are very friendly and very helpful. I have pretty severe astigmatism so its not so easy to determine my prescription, but the doctors are always patient with me and dont mind the follow-up visits.The first year I went there, I brought in a new pair of frames to get fitted. Unfortunately, one of the staff members accidentally broke the frames. The lenses were already fitted and non-refundable. I was upset initially but after some going back and forth, they agreed to give me a another pair of frames for free. I was pretty content with the way things were handled and therefore, returned to them for the following 2 years.The prices are much higher than what you would find online but they are completely okay with faxing or providing you with a copy of your prescription. However, slight problem with my prescription this year. The brand I was prescribed only comes in a base curve of 8.7. But the prescription they had listed was for 8.6. I called to confirm and it was obviously a mistake. No biggie. They said to go ahead and order the 8.7. I deducted 1 star for this error.In overall, service is good but prices are pretty high. And they do accept insurance.

Ive been wearing glasses for over 15 years and contacts for at least 9, and this is the best eye care Ive ever received.Ive been to at least 8 different eye care physicians in my lifetime thus far and Dr. Siegal and his crew are very attentive to you and your needs.You should absolutely try North Center Eye Care at least once, but youll quickly see that you should be a patient of theirs for years!Thank you, Dr. Siegal and crew!

Although I would highly recommend Dr. Siegel, I was really disappointed in the way the staff handled my billing this year. I wasnt given a detailed receipt showing all things charged during my visit. I emailed later and was sent one, only to discover I had a $35 charge for Focuspack Soft Lens-Revitalens. I called to ask what that was, and was told it was a charge for my contact lens rebate of $50, along with two bottles of contact lens solution and a small bottle of eye drops. None of this was given to me during my appointment, but was mailed to me after I called.I had to wonder if it would have been sent had I not called. I did ask for the rebate form during my visit, but did not ask for any of the other items, nor was I told I would be charged for it. Ive never had to pay for the privilege of getting a rebate in years past. Im pretty sure thats against the law, but know I will painstakingly scrutinize my bill next year before I leave. I may even be better off ordering lenses from somewhere else. As I said, I love Dr. Siegel and have been going to him for years, but the way the front office handled me afterwards seemed a bit shady.

Unfortunately, I didnt have the same experience that the other reviewers had. I came here because of the reviews and it was close to my home and work. However, when I immediately came in there was a perception or profile going on. I didnt feel welcome nor did I feel like they wanted to help me. The First Lady that talked to me didnt even smile just ran off a bunch of questions... do you have insurance? With who? Are you coming for an appt now? Because we wont have any today. And so on. I just told her I wanted to buy some more glasses and wanted to browse. Do you have a prescription? Well...ok...you can look around. I felt like I was wasting her time. But I tried to look past it and browse with my husband. They have a good selection. I picked out my favorites and she comes and says...you know the insurance will only cover one? I must have literally had dumb written on my forehead. I told her that I was aware and was using my FSA from my company. She said Oh and walked away. I tried to get her opinion on some glasses but she didnt say much and just gave facial expressions as to say Yay or Nay.I finally picked 3 pairs. 2 glasses and one Sunglasses. At first I had some RayBan sunglasses and she says...oh Just so know RayBan wont show on the Sunglasses. I said oooook? She said that might be a deal breaker for some. So long story short I end up getting 3 glasses in total and she seemed upset that she had to look my insurance up which I dont think she did anyway. She came back with the total and was around $1300. She swipes my card and sighs in frustration to let me know it declined and without even looking at me asked if I wanted her to try again. Of course I said yes because I know it shouldnt have declined and I was ready to show her my account balance. She swipes again and it declined. Then I realized I was using my husband FSA for next year! I said Oh! Im using the wrong card and she didnt even look up. I asked my husband to get my card, he gave it to me, and the card went through. The kicker is that she just gave a receipt from the card machine and say thanks have a good day. We will let you know in about a week when your glasses arrive. I walked away to get to go and realized she didnt give me an itemized receipt nor did she AT LEAST GO OVER IT! I had to request an itemized receipt and an envelope to put it in. Worst customer service ever. Im sure other will have different experiences but this was mine unfortunate one. I wish I could cancel my order because I dont ever want to go back and patronize such an establishment.Megan Ater

Dr. Vandana Gandhi is a disgrace to this practice and the profession of eye doctors.Our daughter was diagnosed by Dr Elizabeth Saxton-Williams with an eye fluid. Eye drops were prescribed and we were told to come back if it did not clear within a week.Dr Gandhi was ill informed (had not read the notes), made a cursory glance at my daughters eye and was dismissive; and wanted to complete the appointment after 5 minutes. She told us that the eye condition was nothing to worry about and she had nothing more to be done about it.Avoid this doctor if you want the same care and professional attention Dr Liz and Dr Siegel provide.
