Thank goodness my wife spotted open seats at the bar (~ 1.5 hour wait for a table), otherwise, we would have missed out on the awesome Egg and Bacon sandwich and Eggs Your Way! The brown sugar bacon was OVER THE TOP! The strawberry-watermelon chilli juice packed a wonderful punch! The blue mimosa was meh..
We came here for brunch during the Chicago restaurant week. It was $25 for a 3 course meal that included a pastry, starter and entree plus a beverage. Would have appreciated some more options for pastry. For the starter, I loved their jalapeño and avocado toast. Entree options were good too - I had the pecan praline French toast. The ambience inside was cozy, casual and the decor is tastefully done. We got a great table by the window and felt like we were able to have more privacy within the restaurant. Our server Doug was friendly and accommodating with our requests. Overall, it was a decent meal.
YUM!! Had a girls day with my bestie that included a late lunch at Beatrix. The original plan was breakfast or brunch but they didnt have space to seat 2 on a regular Monday morning. We are both vegetarian, leaning vegan so we look for restaurants with a few vegetarian friendly options no matter where we go.We each started our lunch with a latte both made with oat milk. For starters we shared the cauliflower and the MOST AMAZING french fries Ive eaten in my entire life with crispy fried lemons! The soup and salad were also fantastic. This is on my list of places to eat again soon.
I visited Beatrix for brunch on a Friday with some friends and everything was amazing. We got a mixture of brunch and lunch items and it was all delicious. We also got lattes and they were very good. My favorite was the white chocolate pumpkin latte. I highly recommend ordering the honey butter cinnamon bun for the table as well (if they’re not sold out)!
Loved the breakfast/lunch selections. Great location and open dinning area. The staff were very friendly and followed COVID Safe Guidance. I had the Ten Grain Oatmeal and Multigrain Toast, both dishes were very good. The toast was thicker than I anticipated, so I could only finish two of the four pieces. The Drip Coffee was good and hot and I appreciated the quickness with refills. I recommend visiting for a meal if you are in this area.
We walked to Beatrix from a hotel during our visit in Chicago. We were very impressed with the quality of food and service. Our server was quick to bring drinks and greet us. The meal was quite expedient for the amount of people dining in the restaurant. It was a lovely and relaxing meal. We hope to enjoy another meal at Beatrix again!
I definitely enjoyed my meal; however there werent enough menu options available with regards to half portions and or more varieties to choose from.Apparently their old menu listed here on Google has outdated pricing information and food options. This evening when I entered the restaurant for the first time the hostess spent a lot of time assisting a customer who was seeking a carry out order. I was very patient and she then took care of a caller for a few more moments so again I waited. I just wanted to tell her I was seeking a table outside but she seemed busy and I could see she might have needed extra help.As I waited I noticed several empty tables outside; but the hostess said Id need to wait an additional 20 minutes for outside seating so I agreed to join the wait list and took a seat by the juice/coffee bar and decided to try a kale green juice. It was $8 but Google states its $6.50 regardless it tasted good and I sat comfortably waiting for an outside table to be cleaned. My phone alerted me my table was ready and the hostess approached me and asked me to wait a bit longer as she took care of other guests inside the restaurant. I decided to step outside to wait for her and she showed me a clean empty table where I sat waiting for my server to approach me.I took some time to figure out what I wanted and I picked the ahi tuna tartar and chicken tortilla soup. I would have loved a half portion of their larger salad; but my server stated there are no half portion options. Later on after I ordered i asked another sever about smaller salad options and she said they actually do have tomatoes with arugula for $7.95 but she said my server was new and not completely familiar with all the options here.My tortilla soup was excellent and well portioned. I definitely loved the tomato based broth and rich textures like crunchy chips and well made tender chicken pieces. The ahi tuna however was pretty tiny for the $14.95 I was charged and I really would have appreciated less avocado and much more raw tuna considering the price.I would have also loved a bit of bread 🍞 served with my soup or before my meal but they dont offer bread here. The dinner menu is a bit pricey so a serving of complimentary bread would have been appreciated.Im leaving 3 stars because the service here was a bit slow and my tuna appetizer just wasnt a good value for the money. Both my dishes were tasty but the prices should be lower if they have tapas style options here.Great place for people watching though! I also noticed the breakfast items listed are more reasonably priced so Im assuming most people come here to enjoy breakfast and brunch.
Such a cute place. We went on a Saturday morning around 10:30-11 (expect to wait 45 minutes+) they were very busy, but you can tell it’s a popular place. Service was excellent and food was delicious. I could tell they were short staffed, but they were doing a great job in spite of it.The photo I took was from 8AM right when they opened (we were staying in the hotel) so if you don’t feel like waiting, get there early!
This place was amazing! It was next to my hotel and I loved it. We had brunch on a sunday and I really wanted to try it all. It has a terrace and also you can dine inside also. We had a shakshouka and pancackes with lemon syrup! The coffee was extremly good. The staff was friendly and they took good care of us. I would definitely go back again!
An unprecedentedly lovely breakfast in downtown Chicago. My partner and I spontaneously decided to check out a new spot in honor of such a sunny day, and what a good decision that turned out to be! To begin, the interior of this restaurant/cafe is just casually elegant in a non-pretentious way, and that extended to the staff we interacted with. The host was kind and gave us the table we preferred by the window (sun shine!) and then we met Daniel, the sweetest and most helpful individual! A recent rescue dog adopter, a sure way to make a friend in me. We love genuine suggestions from staff and Daniel exceeded our expectations in this regard and all others. From helping us pick our juice and (my) coffee to exchanging stories about our dogs, he was just wonderful. Our food was thoroughly satisfying paired with our drinks and the ambience of the entire establishment made for a delightful late morning breakfast. Regrettably, in a moment of enthusiasm, I spilled my juice and made a bit of a mess... Daniel brought me a juice to take home (as we were wrapping up) and during my meal had noticed that I was running low on the (green tomato, I think?) salsa that came with my sandwich and took it upon himself to bring me another one! We were so pleased with everything and having such a friendly and amicable server made our morning. Thank you for a lovely experience! We will most certainly be back.
Went for the Chicago Restaurant Week brunch and it was great! Lots of food for $25!Raspberry macaroon: so large and filling and with such a good balance of coconut and raspberry. It also had that perfectly chewy texture.Avocado toast: hey this bread is amazing! And very clever to put jalapeños on there!Greek yogurt, berries, and granola: what’s not to love. Fresh fruit and good quality granola.Cinnamon French Toast loaf? I can’t remember the exact name but this guy was a tasty beast served with fluffy vanilla bean whipped cream!Chicken Tinga with eggs: scrumptious. Good flavor and so filling.I’ll be back for more, Beatrix!
We went for Saturday brunch. We had made a reservation to eat outside and due to rain they moved us inside. Our food was very, very good and we both enjoyed our choices. I had the spicy chicken tinga, which more spicy than smoky. It was lovely! The pancakes were sweet and lemony. The cinnamon, maple matcha was lightly sweetened with earthly favors with a nice cinnamon after note. While the food was very good, our service was just sufficient. However, wed be happy to go again.
On a lonely, depression filled day, I chose steak. And Lizzi my amazing server was so kind and understanding. Thank you for your kindness.
This is a tried and true Chicago favorite. We went for brunch, but they serve lunch, and dinner which I cant wait to try those... Oh my goodness Im not sure what to focus on the coffee or the food the Malted Freddo is a personal fav and the steak w/ chimichurri and eggs another wonderful thing. Oh, not to mention the almond croissant is something you need in your life ASAP. Trust me on this, Beatrix is a must not a maybe. If you went to Chicago and you didnt go to Beatrix, did you even go to Chicago?
Ive been coming here almost every week for a year and until now most of the hostesses were average. Today My BF and I came across this new one, her name is Suzie and she was awesome. She told us the wait was going to be 20min but we got seated in less than 10 and we got the one table that I wanted by the window. Food was great as usual. Hope suzie gets a raise, a promotion, something. She is Amazing!
First thing first, i do have to say that both the host and the server were amazing! Very calm and relaxing ambiance. S’mores latte was too good, it disappeared before even taking out the phone to take a picture of it! Food came out pretty quickly, everything was delicious. Gotta recommend the mushroom quinoa burger! All in all, would highly recommend this place.
Had dinner at Beatrix on our first evening in Chicago. We were walking around exploring the area and loved the vibe of the place. We went in and fortunately the wait was only around 10 mins. The place has really good ambience. We ordered the Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts, Kennebec Fries and Wild Mushroom Teriyaki Bown and shared all of them. Everything was delicious! The service was a little bit slow, likely because the place was packed. The ambience was excellent. We had a really good time overall.
Really cute spot for breakfast and the place itself is very nice. We came for brunch during the week and it was still quite crowded so I would recommend getting a reservation so as not to wait. I got the shakshouka which was good but definitely lacking on tomato sauce (the main part of the dish). It also said it comes with naan but it just came with some pita bread. Not my favorite meal. My sister got the egg and shishito pepper sandwich which she really liked and our cousin got the eggs your way. She said the brown sugar bacon was really good! Black coffee was quite good also and the pumpkin nitro was delicious.
This is the second time weve been to this location and they did not disappoint! My husband is not gluten free, but we ordered everything gluten free so we could share and we were extremely glad we did! They have a lot of gluten free options to choose from! We started off with the Kennebec fries and the straight a salad. The fries alone were good, but when you dip them in the lemon aioli it takes them to a whole new level! I cant even describe the deliciousness of the fried lemon that they are topped with. I could eat an entire bowl of just those. The salad was huge, fresh, and yummy. I thought it would have been perfect with just a pinch of sea salt sprinkled on the top, but thats just me. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Bebe and the Slow-braised short rib. The chicken had a perfectly crispy parmesean crust in this amazing buttery sauce. I was sad I had to share it, but then I tasted the short-rib and didnt mind getting to eat both! It was so tender you barely needed to put pressure on it with the fork. The sauce and the pureed parsnips paired so well with it. We had plenty of leftovers because we ordered so much, but we love getting to eat great food 2 nights in a row. The inside is very eclectic with each table having different chairs and some even with a love seat. They did great with social distancing and we made sure to make a reservation a week ahead of time for a Saturday night. Well definitely be back.
We waited for more than 30 min past our reservation time for lunch on a weekday, they seemed short staffed. But the food was delicious. The juices were great as well. We got the mushroom teriyaki bowl and the Asian chicken salad, both were very yummy. Would come again but need to budget more time to take into account the wait time, especially on a workday.
Went to Beatrix last Sunday for brunch and honestly just had an ok time. We had a reservation prior to arriving, however, got seated in the aloft lobby instead of the actual restaurant (which wasn’t a huge deal breaker, but was a let down). They were busy, so drinks and food took awhile to get to us. The food was alright, the steak was over cooked, however the Chicken Tinga wasn’t bad. I think it may have just been a bad timing situation, not sure if I’ll be back though unfortunately.
This is an experience place - keep that in mind. the atmosphere is phenomenal and the staff are amazing. theyre kind and they nailed the balance between visiting our table too much and not enough. they give great recommendations - I had the cavatelli and it was great. it isnt a quick bite, Id recommend staying for the experience. the food is great and as for the prices the quality and quantity are what you pay for. Id 100% come back here again.
Never ate an actual meal there. But stayed at Aloft and had coffee and drinks there regularly during our 7 night stay. My husband and I also really enjoyed the baked goods like the cinnamon roll and the salted chocolate chip cookie. They also had a special: a salted caramel hot chocolate that they were able to make into coffee for me. Great service too.
Good coffee, nice brunch. Even if we had to wait in line for almost one hour because of staff shortage. But at the end it was worth it. The location is nice because on a pedestrian street right downtown Chicago.
I was staying at the Embassy Suites and needed a good gluten free friendly breakfast place. A client had recommended Beatrix and i am so glad she did. Breakfast was tasty and the portions were generous. The staff was happy and friendly. Tables spaced apart and very quick service. I will have to go back for lunch or dinner. Yummy food! Five starts for great food abd service. The hot chocolate was also very good!
The ambience inside was cozy, and the decor was beautiful. The menu had very few options and not that much variety; I had a hard time deciding what to eat. I spent 30$ and somehow left as hungry as when I arrived, very small portion sizes for the price they charge.
Dang, missed breakfast. That’s on me. But their coffee, and the cinnamon roll hit the spot. Surprisingly cheap too! Great service from Doug.
Definitely a must try if you are in downtown Chicago!! amazing staff and service. one of the best brunch places Ive tried in a really long time and trust me, it was so worth it. we got seated right beside the bakery so the aroma of freshly baked breads and pastries was just steps away. 5 of us, and we ordered 4 items and we split. will definitely come for a second time.
Busy so it slows down service a bit but servers and hostess were still kind despite the rush.I recommend reserving a table ahead of time, especially for a weekend dining experience. We ordered:1 Dirty Martini (8/10)1 Nutella espresso martini (9/10)1 Burrata (9/10)1 Straight A salad (8/10, would’ve liked more avocado in it)1 prime burger (8/10)
The breakfast steak was cooked to perfection, eggs to order sand the outdoor atmosphere was pure Chicago. Was able to have our dog chill with us while we ate. Need more places like this!
It was my first time going here. I was really impressed, the coffee was great and I have the egg bacon sandwich. The food was great and I was out with a group for breakfast, which is why the bill was over $100.00
Good and healthy food, the restaurant is dog friendly and the beverage options is well curated. I will definitely recommend this place for brunch. You must try the bloody mary and eat the whole bacon at the end.
Love this place. Grab a reservation before you arrive. Their cauliflower grits are amazing, but check and make sure its on the menu. It might be seasonal.
Ordered SHRIMP & SWEET CORN RISOTTO. Large portion, but it was very much like canned creamed corn with rice and four or five what tasted like frozen then microwaved shrimp. Was not worth the $23.95 price. My son had the prime burger and thought it was amazing - hence the 3 star instead of 2.
Interesting restaurant. Fresh pastrys, coffee bar. Eat inside or outside. Liked it very much so.
The Breakfast is good. Reservation and walk-in system needs work. 3 times we called for reservations the prior day because our hotel was next door and being new to Chicago we didn’t want to go far.Told fully booked until 11:00AM, but next day walk-ins are taken at 9 for a 45 minute wait! Strange.
Service and food was okay, nothing to brag about. I found it funny how they acted like no reservations was a huge inconvenience and made us wait about 10 minutes even when the place was pretty empty and stayed slow the whole time we were there. Order and food wait times were lengthier than normal. Overall, wasnt bad experience but wouldnt return
Stopping in The Aloft on North Clark Street makes it too tempting to use this place for breakfast every morning. Thats what weve done so far! Wonderfully designed environment, with internal and external seating that merges and blends. Varied menu without being overwhelming. My coffee of choice is a Honey Cinnamon latte (from someone who detests latte it must be good). Brunch, lunch and dinner are also offered. The place never seems not busy so Id recommend booking if you arent here first thing. Very family friendly, lots of babies and small children seemingly catered for without much fuss. Great service from the very friendly staff too. Well worth trying in my opinion.
Came here for lunch last week and had a very pleasant experience. There was a wait for a table but they texted us right when the table was ready, which is way better than holding on to those pagers. The meal was amazing. I had the prime burger with an egg added on and it was delicious, along with the fries. The servers were nice and we had no issues at all. It’s centrally located. Amazing coffee too!
This place was great on a Saturday morning brunch! Mimosa and bloody Marys to start. Great up beat atmosphere and fun 80s music. Staff very friendly. Food was great. Not your typical plates. We all enjoyed the food. Hope you enjoy the pics. Oh they have a pastry bar and coffee bar also. Gluten Free menu!
I had the mushroom quinoa burger which was amazing and very filling for a veggie burger which I love to see! Thought the price was reasonable and the outdoor seating was very nice. We were instructed to order take out and then eat outside which was a little odd (not to mention a waste of plastic) but food came out promptly and I enjoyed every bite
Stopped in for some drinks at the bar. Not many make the aperol spritz properly but they definitely do. Drink prices are a little high but its a cute place.
We have been there so many times for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. It was one of our go to places in Chicago downtown. Their salads are really good.
The environment was amazing and service was wonderful! We had the kale juice, mushroom burger, kale salad, steak and eggs and a side of granola(the names are probably not accurate) Its the first veggie burger Ive had but it was delicious! Every dish worth the price. The waiter also packed the leftovers beautifully. Definitely will come again.
Great breakfast anf brunch menu, nice staff and atmosphere. Coffee and muffins are excellent. Healthy options available like granola and fruits.
Amazing place right in the downtown of Chicago. The food here taste delicious 😋. The host and server are very friendly.
Great brunch spot in Chicago. It gets pretty crowded on weekends so highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Must try - light and fluffy pancakes. Good food and good service. Their coffee is decent but drinks are good.
Pretentious cuisine with light and healthy sides according to the mighty host who would not take a drink order and never sent the server. I could not find either the food healthy or light. The service is totally about themselves and not about the customers. Mexican dishes like enchiladas served with flour tortillas an insult to Mexican cuisine. Totally overpriced. The worst lettuce entertain you restaurant. Will never go back.
Overall nice place with good food and service.
Lots of choices. I chose oatmeal with dried cherries ad rows suar loved it!
Fish tacos were good! Good local beer...stop in when Chicago.
Went for some coffee and pastries. I had the Mexican coffee and it was fantastic. The almond/chocolate croissant was fluffy and very flavorful. Definitely going back.
Great atmosphere and while some of the food can be pricey, they have a good balance between aesthetics, taste, and price. The fries and salads are very good.
I have been here several times for brunch and drinks. It is consistently good. It is a fun place with good music. The bartenders are always friendly. This last time we came for mimosas which were delicious and made with mostly prosecco, which I am not complaining about; just commenting lol. They have three flavors: traditional, strawberry, and blueberry. All were great. We figured we should order at least some food with our mimosas, so we split the Caesar salad. It was huge and more than enough for two. Good dressing, and not too much. Good crumbled croutons. Fresh lettuce. The pic is half of it. All in all, this place is excellent. Join the Lettuce Entertain You rewards program and get so many rewards too.
The food might be good, we don’t know. Drinks were fine. We were sitting near the bar with drinks waiting for a bar spot to open up for food as it is first come first serve. Two people who showed up after us jumped in the seats we were waiting for and the bartender looked at us but did nothing about it after we had already told him we were waiting to be served food in those seats.
Downtown? Not sure where to go? Your wallet is begging you to step away from Magnificent Mile and Water Tower? Then come on out a little firther West and check out this great farm to table cusine. Juices are great. Opportunity with filling drinks all the way and plating presentation but, the food is outstanding and consistent at all the locations,
Classic breakfast place with good service during peak hour. The food is delicious and trendy but on the pricier side. Worth the stop if youre looking for great Instagram pictures.
Good restaurant. The celery cooler juicer was yummy and fresh squeezed. The portions were beyond generous but it’s a pricey cafe. Our simple lunch came to over $40. The potato chips were delicious and the service was friendly. Ambiance was okay.
Made reservations for breakfast for this place before arriving in Chicago in May. Other friends had breakfast on a different day. I looked at the baked goods while waiting for my coworker and his wife and everything looked great. When we were seated, I ordered the blueberry boost while my coworkers wife got the mango, orange and pineapple nectar. She had the pepper and egg white sandwich which was just the right amount of food. My coworker and I both had the eggs your way. I had the brown sugar bacon while he got the chicken sausage. Love the sweetness and crunch of my bacon! All the food was finished and we were all so full! Very satisfying meal! We were fueled up and ready for a day of walking.I discovered that this is one of many locations.
Wow! This is restaurant is perfection! Menu is full of healthy innovative options! Staff was extremely friendly. The atmosphere is so relaxed like a mother’s kitchen feel. If you want to grab something quick they have a coffee bar and bakery. The prices are great for the quality of food and overall experience. This place will not disappoint.
We stayed at Aloft so we visited couple of times @ Beatrix.Incredible!Great and creative foodCoffee is really goodAnd patties omg :)Yes go !
Always a pleasant dining experience for a business meeting at anytime of the day. Eager to see them get back to full capacity. Cuisine is good quality, all dishes of a very American style.
I love this place so much. The food is fantastic, the ambiance is nice, and the staff is really friendly. Ive had at least a dozen things from here and Ive never been disappointed. The coffee bar is really great and their pastries are amazing. I stopped in here for a Monday drink and a snack and, as always, it was an enjoyable experience.
Just espectacular! Visited for breakfast, it was full, so lucky to get a table with out reservations. The people are very friendly.
Loved this cute place, the service was great and the food delicious, we got the green chicken enchiladas and wow I was really surprised, great flavors and portions.
Good brunch spot with some healthier menu options and good drinks. The cauliflower grits lacked the crispy brussel sprouts I was looking forward to, I think they were running low because I only got half a brussel sprout. But the flavors were good and the group enjoyed the brunch.
Amazing bakery options and fantastic breakfast. Make sure to make a reservation though!
The space was a little cramped, but once I got settled in, we had a great meal with great service to boot. Food came out quicker than drinks, but the drinks were worth the wait. Try one of their cocktails if youre looking for something refreshing.
