What a cute &nostalgic donut&chicken sandwich shop! definitely one of the best fried chicken sandwiches!! the plain coffee is a bit on the acidic side, purely a personal preference, so if you’re like me who prefers our coffee more chocolatey and smooth, try one of their lattes. not usually a big sweet person but I took a bite of my partner’s donut and it was hit the spot.
Yummy! Do-rite has great donuts and coffee drinks. The staff was exceptionally nice, and friendly, and helpful. The gluten-free donuts are second to none! We took a short 3 day trip to Chicago, and I got a few extra gluten-free donuts to take home. So good! I would also recommend the Nutella iced coffee: also very good.
Im usually in here two or three times a month to get donuts in the morning. Staff are always incredibly nice and do a great job keeping the line moving. Donuts cant be beat. Was apprehensive about the maple bacon donut at first but its a real treat. Have not tried the gluten free donuts but they do exist if you are so inclined. The chicken and breakfast sandwiches are also great quality for a bargain price. The cold coffees are a bit weird tasting and oversweet, would stay away.
Decent spot. There was a short line when we got there around 9:30am on a Saturday. I got the original chicken sandwich on a donut bun which was ok. Nothing special at all. I also got the blueberry crumble donut which pretty good. This one was recommended by the cashier or else I would’ve gotten the old fashioned. I definitely prefer the other 3 chicago donut spots to this one
This is part of the food tour of Chicago and I got to say really nice place and I cant remember what it was that made this place popular over other donut places. I do apologize I asked and the one thing I got was because of the owner of the food tour went on knows the owner of this place so its one of those things you scratch my back I scratch yours. But other than that really good donuts a nice location quiet and it is very busy because I saw people left and right coming by checking out this place.
Popular doughnut shop that also serves breakfast sandwiches and fried chicken (breakfast served all day). If you buy a doughnut, coffee is just $1. There always seemed to be a line but it moved fairly quickly. To save time, you can also order ahead via phone for pick-up. It took about 30 minutes for the chicken tenders I ordered to come out, but they were made fresh and it was busy, so it’s all good. The doughnuts were super heavy and sweet - just the way I like ‘em. The chocolate was decadent and I had to save half for later in my day because I was getting so full. The pistachio lemon doughnut was a bit lighter and not as sweet; it was an interesting flavor but I probably wouldn’t get it again. The cheese danish doughnut looked really good but they were out when I was ordering. There’s indoor stools and outdoor tables. Credit cards are accepted. Note that it’s located right across a hospital so there will be sirens randomly blaring. No street parking was readily available. There’s no free wifi so it’s more of a eat your food and leave kinda vibe.
Its taken a few months but I have basically eaten every donut offered. There is a good amount of variety in flavors, textures and allergy options. They have some gluten free donuts but I have never tried them. The vegan donuts are really good, my favorite is the chai glazed. Even simple donuts like the honey glazed are done so perfectly you dont need extra. They offer Dark Matters Coffee which is a nice local brand and every size is $1 off if you buy a donut. The quality of the coffee can very from being very good to just ok, I think it just depends on maybe who is working or how busy they are when they make the coffee. Staff at this location is amazing and always super friendly. On the weekends outdoor seating can be really busy but the donuts are always fresh and you can see them making them in the back. This is my favorite donut place in the city, my donut partner agrees.
OMG, this place was quite a find and not disappointing. My daughter had the OG chix sandwich but rather than on regular bun it was in between a donut! I had the CBR (chix, cheddar, bacon & garlic Mayo) between brioche bun. We also split an order of FF which tasted and looked like boardwalk fries from OC MD! Bonus, the young lady that took our order gave us a free apple cider donut. Everything was wonderful and flavorful. I would go back. Next time for donut and $1 coffee!
As part of the Underground Donut Tour, not only were the donuts thebomb.com, but Nick, our guide also called the Do-Right Donuts chicken sandwich the best in the entire city.Ever the skeptic, I had to check it out and you know what?Nick wasnt wrong! This chicken sandwich (and I got the spicy) isnt over-fried, is moist inside with a little bit of a crunch on the outside (and pickles!), uses a great sauce, and had a perfect bun!10/10 would recommend and 100/100 definitely will eat one more of these gems before I fly back home!!!Also, if youre in town, be sure to hit up Nick @undergrounddonuttour on IG and get in on the magic!
Place was busy but the line moved quite quickly. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful with taking our order. My chicken sausage breakfast sandwich was quite larger than expected. Wife liked her donut, my vanilla bean was a bit sweet but Im not a just sugar person. The donut was nice and light. Would recommend skipping the coffee, not good at all, had to throw it out. Get donuts here and a coffee at a coffee place and youll be good to go.
A very small space inside. They pack a lot of employees in to create and serve up their delicious treats. The outside patio space relieves the congestion from inside. The donuts are delightfully tasty and theres great options for breakfast through dinner food choices.
Ordered a cold brew and pistachio Meyer lemon cake donut. The coffee is well executed--flavorful and roasted well. The donut is delightfully cakey--lovely glaze and crunch from the pistachio combined with the fluffy cake interior is a great combo.Staff are friendly and professional, and the vibes/aesthetic is on point. Definitely crammed inside, be aware if thats a concern for you.
Owner/Partner doesnt wear a mask behind the counter, yet they wont serve you if youre not covering your face... rules for thee but not for me.
Donut crawl stop #4. You put chicken... On a donut... Bless. Just bless.
Pumpkin cream cheese donut and pistachio lemon donut were of the absolute best donuts I’ve had
The morning we went they had three different gluten free donuts. They were amazing!Cake donut with chocolate icingCake donut with white icing and rainbow sprinklesCake donut with cinnamon and sugar
Although there are many great donut places in Chicago, we tried Do-Rite for the first time today and it was amazing. We ordered half a dozen and sat outside (no room inside really, unless you enjoy the line of people staring at you while you eat). Although all of the donuts were great, the maple bacon was a definite win. We also ordered the cinnamon crunch, coconut dream, glazed, chocolate icing glazed. All were delicious. I imagine its a tough market, literally around the corner is the world famous Stans, but our group thought Do-Rite is definitely the winner for best donuts in town.
Part of the appeal here is the guarantee of satisfaction. You know youre getting a tasty fried chicken sandwich which wont be dripping with oil, and you know youre getting a tasty donut regardless of which one you go for. One of the best downtown finds.
Establishment is tucked into the side of the building. Donuts were about the best in Chicago that I’ve ever had. I went back for a 1/2 dozen to take home before leaving Chicago. Pistachio Meyers lemon donut was generously covered with pistachios just mounded on top and the cake donut beneath was dense and very very good. We could barely detect any lemon flavor in the icing however. The old fashioned are good size and are very flavorful. The carrot cake donut with cream cheese frosting dallop was excellent. Real carrots used and a good balance of flavors being not too sweet. Glazed raised donuts were perfect size and they tasted light and fluffy to perfection! The Cruller is an old favorite and most places don’t make them right. It requires really hot water in the mix for the spongy taste and effect. This is the best one I’ve had in Chicago. The size was nice and it tasted like I remembered growing up! Donuts here are good size, top quality, very delicious and priced like others around Chicago. They also feature $1 cup of coffee with donut purchase. If your looking for a no frills no hype really good quality and size for your money donut, Do-Rite donuts are donuts done rite for sure!
If you do not visit this place for breakfast while in Chicago, you should stop traveling now because you are doing it all wrong. If you like donuts and fried chicken, this place is a MUST!! I mean SERIOUSLY!! Counter service, seating for maybe 30 (mostly outdoors), and WHOLLY UNBELIEVABLE flavor and quality!! They went heavy on mayo on my chicken donut (which I love), but you may want to request light mayo if you are not a fan.
The donuts are delicious. Theyre better than Stans, but for less money. Also, fried chicken on a glazed donut is a pretty awesome combination. Its like chicken and waffles, but way less messy. Highly recommend.
What can I say, everything was delicious! We stopped in for a quick breakfast before hitting some of the sights. Strong coffee, delicious donuts, and absolutely delectable chicken sandwich. THIS is the place for donuts in Chicago!
If you’re gluten free come here🙌 their gluten free donuts are some of the best i’ve ever had
Best chicken sandwich!! 😋 Would definitely recommend. Donut was delicious too.
Came to Chicago for a conference and my family and I fell in love with this location’s food and staff. LOVED the variety of donuts and the sandwiches. Highly recommend the CBR, the Mr Piggy and the Southern sandwiches. Loved all the donuts (we bought a dozen), but I’ll be dreaming of the blueberry and the old fashioned until I return. Thank you so much to the manager and chef, you both rock!
Fast and friendly service of delicious food that is inexpensive by Chicago standards. This is a great place to grab a quick bite (and indulge yourself a little). Also noteworthy: this place serves heart attack food - but the best emergency room in America is directly across the street - so this particular location enjoys some level of risk mitigation.
Dude…GF donuts. I went to Stans nearby first and it was pretty good. But the donuts here were better, without question. Just get their in the morning for GF. I went there on late Friday and Saturday evening and they were out, but so glad I went again Sunday morning.
As a Southerner, I do enjoy fried chicken, and this ranks up there as some of the best in Chicago. I got the Original sandwich and it was very good. You can opt to have it served on a donut! They do have GF donuts and the dipping sauce for the strips is a really good creamy garlic sauce!Def worth a visit!
Not bread dense like some donut shops and not cakey in consistency either. Great texture and consistency. Nice that they had gluten free options available. Gluten free friends loved it and said it was one of the best they had. Regular donuts had great flavours. Not overly sweet and great balance between glaze coverage and donut. Havent tried their sandwiches but will be back for breakfast on a donut or their fried chicken on a donut. It all looked amazing.
Honest review I forgot to take a picture but skip the donut sandwich trust me on that why ? Because you don’t even smell chicken cooking is it fresh? It wasn’t that good but the donuts was awesome on their own ?? We tried lemon pistachio and vanilla bean they were really good and we enjoyed sitting out front and watching the birds flutter around
The chicken sandwich was so amazing that we ended up going back the next day for another one! Both times we went the service was SO amazing, the employees were always so nice and helpful. Definitely some of the best customer service we’ve had in the city.
Was definitely excited to try after internet reviews. Got there and started eating chix sandwich and was not impressed. More batter than meat and was definitely lacking flavor and seasoning! Batter was also super crunchy and bland. Fries and BBQ were good 👍 but thats about it. I tried the glazed doughnut as well and was underwhelmed on that also. Prob not goin back but not terrible either 🤷.
I heard and read quite a bit about this donut place and the flavors that I would recommend would be pistachio Meyer lemon and coconut dream. Both tasted really good. On the flip side the spicy chicken sandwich and fries were not upto the mark.
Very solid chicken sandwich, wish I got the chance to try some donuts but by the time I came, most of the flavors were gone besides birthday cake and old fashion glazed. Great place overall, quick and very friendly
Do-rite has the best donuts in Chicago and their chicken sandwich is no slouch. It’s a lot of calories, but at least it’s worth it.
Stumbled across this place and will definitely be back! The service right off the bat was amazing. The server this morning was so kind and gave great suggestions. Food AMAZING. Thank you!
Best donuts around. Get them every chance I get. Wish they were in Indiana!
YUMM! Absolutely delicious donuts. I brought home an assortment of dozen and everyone loved them. I also had the donut spicy fried chicken sandwich for breakfast. It was DELICIOUS!!! The coffee was good and strong. As I was sitting in the patio at Do-Rite enjoying my breakfast a couple of cops got in the line. See the pictures. It was a hilarious moment and as my pictures prove, this place is approved by Chicago PD......lol.
This place is awesome as usually if youre looking for a gourmet twist on classic donuts this is it. Not to mention they serve breakfast sandwiches all day Veracruz is delicious.
Delicious, perfect donut. The staff is just as sweet.
One of my favorite spicy chicken sandwiches ever! It was the perfect amount of spice and sauce. And the sauce--sooo good. I loved the fries and the ranch to dip them in was GOOD. I would love to come here again and again.
Very disappointed. Not worth whatever hype there may be of this place, chicken was small and not flavorful, donuts were basic and nothing to rave over, I definitely had better.
Absolutely amazing chicken sandwich and great donuts to boot. Have to say I wasnt bold enough to try the sandwich with donuts in place of the bun but they were both delicious on their own. The spicy chicken sandwich was juicy and crispy and the perfect balance of savory and spice. Probably one of if not my favorite chicken sandwich ever.As for the donuts, we got the blueberry crumb cake and the lemon merengue (?). Both delicious and an amazing melt-in-your-mouth experience.Out if all the food I had while in Chicago, this place was at the top!
Do rite is great. In the spectrum of donuts they are pretty decent but I was absolutely in love with the classic sour cream donut. Its what I base all of my future sour cream donuts on. Super moist inside, deliciously sweet and crisp outside. The chicken sandwich was delicious too. I got the spicy one and would definitely recommend
Do-Rite does it right. This is your no frills establishment that does one thing - make exceptional donuts. They don’t try to make it to most instagrammable looking, and that’s what makes this place what it is. They really care about the flavor, texture, and smile on their customers’ faces when they eat this. Let me tell you right now, the buttermilk old fashioned donuts are the best. Hands down. I was skeptical at first, but there is no competition. These cakey, fluffy delights have everything one could want in a sweet dessert/breakfast. From the first bite, I was transported into another world and I didn’t want the donut to end. I also got a maple bacon donut. This, was a pretty standard donut. Not to say it was bad at all, but after having the old fashioned one, it was impossible to top that. This maple bacon one was still good, with a regular yeast donut like Krispy Kreme, and then a thick maple glaze with one Liza of bacon split in 2 on top. I always love the sweet and salty, soft and crunchy, light and savory juxtaposition that maple bacon donuts bring to the donut game, and this was right up there. If I was to go back, I would 100% get more of the old fashioned, and I would also try their chicken since I hear it is some of the best! Heck, I’d get a chicken sandwich and put it on old fashioned donuts! Mmm...
Amazing! Fantastic chicken sandwich and apple fritter. Loved the coffee.
So disappointed. I mean, the doughnuts are really good, but the chicken sandwiches are baaaad. The family was so excited for chicken and doughnuts for breakfast. When we arrived, there was a line that moved pretty slow. That didnt bother us, but wanted to let you know. The BIG let down was the chx. The sandwich was juicy, but it was just water? There was absolutely no flavor. It was extremely weird. Five chicken sandwiches and five disappointed customers. We literally all has the same experience. The doughnuts are a 4, but the chx is a 2.
Chicken and donuts. Never knew this was a good combo until I went here
Great food. Try the Mr. Piggy and get a Hazelnut Iced Coffee ( flavored with Nutella).
This place is amazingMy friend and I visited from out of town and we stumbled on this place for breakfast. We got CBR sandwiches (spicy). They were juicy and delicious, honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches either of us has ever had We will be back when we are in town and we both highly recommend this place
Pistachio and Meyer Lemon donut: 5 stars! I got an apple fritter for the next day: 5 stars! And they serve the best Coffee in Chicago (maybe the country), Dark Matter. Get this donut in your face ASAP
Great donuts, a lttle pricey though. Good coffee.
A neat donut shop with a nice mix of classic and new flavors. The menu includes savory options like breakfast sandwiches, and various chicken sandwich, which makes this place perfect for a meal! Yum!!!
My family loves these doughnuts. They also have great fries. We wish there were some in the suburbs.
This place is amazing! My friend and I visited from out of town and we stumbled on this place for breakfast. We both got CBR sandwiches (spicy). They were juicy and delicious, honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches either of us has ever had. We are still craving it! My friend also got the hazelnut coffee which was delicious (and I’m not even a fan of hazelnut). The staff was friendly, all the donuts looked amazing even though we didn’t get to try them. We will be back when we are in town and we both highly recommend this place!!
Crazy tasty delish donuts!! With dark roast coffee ( they call it dark Matter).Only the glazed donuts are the phenomenal. Others are just ok
Good mix of donuts, including vegan and gluten-free. Add in the breakfast sandwiches, dark matter coffee, and fried chicken, and you’ve got enough decadence to see you through all the way to dinner.Do-Rite has 15-18 flavors at any one time, so there should be a few options to suit most preferences. All are quality donuts, which deliver well on a given flavor, although some seem to overlap - for instance, chocolate glazed and chocolate old-fashioned, cinnamon and apple cinnamon, etc.If you’re trying to satisfy a chocolate craving, you may be a little disappointed. I’ve gone in person and had donuts catered, for a total of five or six experiences. Every time, I’ve felt that all-chocolate donuts were missing, along with any kind of cream cheese filling or frosting on the red velvet, which was bland. It could be that I’ve simply missed out on the days those flavors were available. Until then, I’d have to rank Stan’s and Glazed & Infused (rests their souls) above Do-Rite, at least for donuts.Of course, there are also breakfast sandwiches. I had the ham, cheese, and egg, which was fresh and authentic, with actual scrambled eggs in it. I didn’t get it on a donut, which I will have to rectify next time. Personally I’d skip the mayo and tomato, but that’s me.I haven’t tried the fried chicken yet, but I’ve only heard good things!
I always have the spicy chicken sandwich ..it is delicious. The bun itself has a very distinct taste. The chicken is nice and juicy. The donuts are awesome. One of the best I have had in Chicago. I havent had the other sandwich but I bet everything here will not disappoint you.
Great fried chicken sandwich on a glazed donut! The combination of the sweet and savory taste made Do-Rite a must-try when you’re in Chicago. However, the service was nowhere near where it should be. The cashier displayed an unprofessional attitude when my order was wrong, and need to be refunded. Also, she was unfriendly when my friend asked for a physical copy of the receipt.I’d definitely recommend this place for people to try when they’re in town, but the level of service/ hospitality did not align with the quality of the food!
I love this burger. It was so tasty!
Ordered my donuts online the night before guaranteeing I would have all my favs waiting for me to pick up. Walked in the next day, and walked right out with my delicious Do-Right Donuts. Totally effortless.
Very yummy gluten free donuts!
We stopped in in hopes of a good, cheap breakfast and were pleasantly surprised that this place beat our expectations, even with an already existing 4.7 star review average. The two breakfast sandwiches we got were really good and pretty filling. Theres even an option to replace the buns with donuts if youre feeling ambitious. The doughnuts, however, were the real standout. I highly recommend the maple bacon if you get the chance!
A staple for me.Great simple coffee at reasonable prices. The donuts are always fresh and some of the best in town. The fritters never fail to amaze. And the specialty donuts on rotation are almost always delicious.Chicken sandwich? Yes. Simple and delicious. Better than places costing twice the price! Cant speak highly enough of this place.
The best, donuts ever, in taste, quality ingredients! Love❤
This place is amazing! We did the donuts, a breakfast sandwich, and a chicken sandwich. 5 stars for all. This was a better breakfast than many of the sit down restaurants weve had in the area. We went on a Saturday morning around 10am, line took about 10 mins to order and another 10 to prepare our sandwiches-i thought they moved things along exceptionally well. Cant wait to go back.
5 stars for the chicken sausage breakfast sandwich, 3 stars for the donut. Also, ask for extra napkins or bring some hand wipes because you gonna need.
One of the best donut shops Ive been to. Definitely put this in your list when you visit Chicago.
Just Do-it at Do-rite. Michigan apple fritter and a cup of coffee - if I must say, the fritter was excellent. Tight restaurant so prepare to eat outside, at office or mobile.
I live in the burbs and its well worth the trip just for donuts. The cinnamon sugar donut is fantastic.
Oh man...the donuts here are fantastic! We bought pistachio, blueberry, and chocolate old-fashioned donuts to share, and they were all amazing. I consider myself a casual donut eater, but if I lived anywhere near here, I think that label would change along with my weight. I also got a small coffee with my order, which was actually really good. They brew coffee with beans from Dark Matter, which I think is awesome!Btw, if you decide to sit outside, watch out for the birds. They are relentless!
