Not happy. I got a tarp 8 x 14 cut size to cover a 4 x 12 opening and the length is like exactly 12. No room for a over hang. I knew the completed size would be smaller than the cut size. But two feet?!? No, I expected MAYBE 1 foot smaller. But definitely NOT TWO FEET!! And NOT returnable!!

Canvas has a massive shrink. Not preshrunk. They also come up with odd upcharges without warning, padding the invoice.UPDATE: they are lying in their response to my review. I never threatened a bad review. As you will see if you search my reviews, I dont do that.Their fabric has an incredible shrinking. I purchased from them because they are local, but that doesnt mean Ive always been satisfied... I havent, like I said the fabric shrinks massively.The new and out of nowhere upcharge for cuts was shocking as its never been applied before, it throws off my budget for a project Ive started with a certain price in mind, without warning... This causes me and my business delays.This company is thoughtless and hasnt a care in the world for their customers. BEWARE. Place your loyalty with companies who are thoughtful of their customers.

Absolutely the worst customer service. I called to inquire about a canopy cover. I was advised about the 18 oz tarps and it was the only size they had for my application. I spent several hundred dollars on a tarpoline. It arrived the wrong color. I had to have it regardless because of time constraints. Immediately after installing the canvas tarp a grommet to close to the edge ripped out. The sales person was immediately rude and dismissive claiming it was my fault based off a rediculous fine print technicality. Even after I sent her the email proving that I ordered grey she argued and spoke over me repeatedly. They offered no apologies and accused me of harassing them. This backwards view of dealing with customers will result in this company going belly up. I can only assume this as the person I dealt with is obviously high up in the company and answering phones like a receptionist. Maybe your answering phones and going bankrupt because your selling inferior products and disrespectful to customers. Especially those who were ready to purchase 1000s of dollars worth of canvas. You were rude to me first so I responded in kind. I will gladly spend my money at your competition, and go out of my way as often as I can to degrade your organization. Now you can accuse me of harassing you.

I ordered a backdrop for a play we are putting on. The size and color of the backdrop was exactly as pictured online and it worked great for our needs. I will be purchasing again when the need arises!

If I could give them negative stars I would. I completely understand deliveries have been delayed do to the pandemic, however I spoke to a representative at the time the order was placed and I was insured this was not an issue. It took them ( 10 ) days to process a simple order of one tarp. The excuse was they had to make it when in fact I already knew it was an instock common tarp. After the 10th day and a handful of attitude from the woman answering phones, she told me ITS FREE SHIPPING! then she provided my tracking #. I can only assume that if you dont pay the extra $125 express shipping charge your order will be delayed. Bottom line is I will not be doing business with this company again. I thought I found a company I could use to supply my business with several large orders of tarps but I guess I was wrong.

Good quality canvas drop cloths . Little pricey. But they manufacture them there. 12 ounce drop cloths are nice to have.Good solid protection on the job sites

Your website and owner are at odds... He got extremely angry and started yelling when asked simple questions regarding product and shipping costs. I 100% stand by the fact if anyone is looking for a material vendor to look elsewhere as we have and found great partners who know how to communicate.

I ordered 18oz canvas. They sent 15oz. I called them to correct it things degraded from there. Even the paperwork I got with the product says it’s 15oz canvas. However, BRAD THE OWNER, insisted I got the 18oz. He even went so far as to try and tell me they don’t even sell 15oz canvas. Funny, their web site says the have over 10 colors of 15oz and oodles of it on hand.Brad is a business owner of the worst kind. He refuses to own his mistakes as well as his business profits. Don’t buy here! Big Duck or Marsidian are way better options!

I had an issue with my order which was partially my fault (Didn’t realize actual size vs cut size vs standard description of sizes are different – be sure to read the website carefully). Chicago Canvas helped me and got me the product I needed. I was very happy with their service and willingness to help.

I purchased a tarp for my lawn furniture this year. It arrived quickly and was as-described. It appears to be of better quality than what I would find in a big box store but only time will tell.

This is a classic Chicago family owned business that had great customer service and great prices. They have stock curtains and hanging hardware (think theater curtains) and will custom fabricate whatever you need. Everyone I dealt with was super nice and very helpful.

Fantastic product, exactly the sizing that I needed. I bought a 5x7 canvas tarp and they stated the actual size after trimming and edging done and it was exactly as they said. A perfect fit for my project. Someone had posted previously that the product had a bad odor, not so with mine. It smelled like new canvas. Perfect company to deal with. Thank you.

I recently purchased several pieces of fabric for a school project. The shipping seemed a little slow (ground), but I was very happy with the quality of product I received. I will definitely use them again but just allow ample time for ground shipping to get to me.

Great service, pushy but not overbearing and flexible on price. Was very generous with the measurements I asked for and gave me over a yard extra in two cases! Its a one man show so if you are in a hurry it may not be fast, but Ill definitely come again.

I purchased the wrong tarp for my application and it tore. I called Chicago Canvas and they helped me find the right tarp. Months later all is good, bottom line is if you aren’t sure what you need ask the pros and they will help!

Chicago Canvas & Supply is great. The prices are reasonable, the selection is good, and the owner will spend as much time helping you as you need. I was able to find the right fabrics for my project and saved a lot compared to other stores.

Buyer Beware! If you need a theatrical drop made, find another vendor.The drop I ordered literally fell apart at the seems. Chicago Canvas does not build drapery the way the rest of the industry does. Instead of properly sewing widths of fabric together as per the industry standard, Chicago Canvas surges an 1/8 of fabric from the two pieces of fabric together and expects that not to pull apart under its own weight. When I called them about this the manager totally Trumped me on the phone. He said he would have a new drape ready and seamed properly by the next morning. When I arrived the next morning this manager informs me that they did not make a new drape and would not be but they would repair the original one by redoing the surged seem. This could have been made clear the day before on the phone and I would have brought it to them then. This not only put us two days behind schedule it also cost us several hundred dollars in labor because of their careless construction. Lying to me is what honestly infuriates me the most.

I cant stress highly enough how much I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this company, Chicago canvas. I ordered a heavy duty 18 Oz Canvas tarp to cover my 76 year-old mothers BBQ and sitting area. After 6 days four or five of the brass grommets had already ripped out. By the time I could remove the tarp, 8 days total, more than half a dozen grommets had ripped loose. I carefully boxed up the tarp and emailed their customer service department for a RMA. I was told by a very rude BRAD MANGURTAN that because in my email I described the sitting area as a carport and that the tarp I bought was not the recommended product for a carport that they would not warranty their product. This area has a temporary round steel frame, and the tarp is held on by Bungee ball fasteners. Their description recommends not using this tarp to cover cars because it could stain the finish of the cars if it dripped on it. But because I used the phrase carport to describe my mothers sitting and barbecue area they jumped on the opportunity to not honor their warranty. It shouldnt matter what is underneath the tarp, it should not rip in multiple places after 8 days if only being held up there with light-duty bungees balls. I find this policy predatory and will be following up with the Better Business Bureau.

I bought a 8x14 and 8x10 brown canvas tarp directly from Chicago Canvas. The Tarps have been working great as temporary walls for a carport.One day I noticed the 8x10 was covered in mildew/mold. I called Chicago Canvas and they send me out another hassle free....GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

I just received 12 high end canvas drop cloths from CC&S. The quality is as advertised, BUT THEY REEK OF MOLD. Upon giving CC&S the chance to make good on their toxic shipment to me before going public, they would only say: We must follow protocol, receive the returned goods ånd make our own evaluation before negotiating a resolution.My home renovation starts in 5 days. I dont have time for them to delaymy project and must now spend at least another $240.00 to remind on schedule and hope to receive a refund.As a retired general contractor who knows mold when I smell it, steerclear of doing business with this company that appears to not give a damn about customers who place their trust in them by ordering their products.

I run a rehearsal and audition facility in NYC with over 60 studios, and have been getting our curtains made through Chicago Canvas for years. They are very friendly and professional, and have never made an error on any order, ever. I have referred numerous people to them who have noticed their superior product in our facility. As for the gentleman below who was disappointed with the fabric - they have many different fabric weights available, and you obviously went for the inexpensive, thinner fabric. You should have asked for a sample before having them build a custom product and then wanting a refund.

They have every kind of canvas, muslin, burlap, all stage fabrics, rope. Good prices. This is the kind of store that makes Chicago great in my opinion.

I have been buying from Chicago canvas for years now. I design and work for a dozen theatres around the country and they have always met or exceeded all my needs and expectations. Cheaper than rosebrand and about 5 times faster turnaround than grand stage. Brad in custom drapes and drops is amazing to work with and always finds a way to make our projects work. These are great people to deal with.

I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. They sent me samples and I choose to go with commando cloth. Their system wouldnt allow my Canadian billing address so I had to order by phone. Im told fabric is no longer available in single nap in one of the widths I had choosen. So I order the single in the narrow and the double in the wide (these fabrics are not the same structure at all).Now the big issue. I ship to a warehouse and finally was able to go pick it up. Got it to the office and realize they sent me the wrong quantities. I have 3 days in my schedule to make these and dont have the fabric. They shipped the replacement but it will cost me almost 50$ between tolls, gas, warehousing etc to get these and then I have to make them and my schedule is already full.Take your business elsewhere.

They sent me the wrong size tarp twice. The second time, I called them directly to assure I would get the right size, they sent the wrong size again, with uneven cuts and crayon writing all over the tarp. I called to talk to the manager. The manager was belittling and unprofessional. He refused to work with me and hung up the phone. This is a horrible company to work with. They have cost me return business with 4 clients so far.

I ordered several drop cloths for a painting project. I cannot tell the difference between these and any other drop cloths, but they were less expensive than what I typically pay so I will buy them again.

Dishonest shipping charges, inaccurate measurements, shipping incorrect items, and horrible customer service are all the reasons you should run, not walk, away from this business! I was trying to find canvas to faux finish a 3k sq ft basement. Read good reviews about their canvas on amazon, but wanted to make sure I got matching canvas in the painters drop cloths I was using so I ordered direct. First went to the website, but there was nowhere to note my need for seamless canvas, or at least matching surging. I sent them an email before finalizing my order, and they told me to call it in instead. Called in and was told I could order seamless canvas, I was quoted $67 (for four panels on bulk pricing), and sent a recipe for $67. Then a charge hit my card for $107. The company claims its for shipping and the tiny “+ shipping” note on the bottom of the receipt justifies them to charge whatever they want for shipping. Went back to the website, and their website quotes $21 for shipping. Again went back to the company and they are now claiming that the website is a “discounted shipping price.” Funny how they don’t mention that they will DOUBLE your shipping charge if you cancel the order on the website and call them instead.The worst part is that I finally had to give up and start on the project I ordered the canvas for. Just took it out of the box and the “seamless” canvas I was promised has a seam right down the middle!!! And, to add insult to injury the 9x12 canvas I ordered is actually 11.5’ x 8.9’!!! It looks like they took their standard seamed canvas and just cut the seams off!!! I could have done that myself, but I needed the full 9x12 seamless canvas! In fact, after measuring and looking at all four panels, they are all different sizes, some have seams and some don’t, some have brown surging some have white, and one is a full 2’ short!They have made absolutely no effort to make this right and I get nothing but nasty responses from someone named Dania (the same person who charged my card for $40 more than agreed and promised seamless canvas.) GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This company is absolutely dishonest in every way!

Oh my. I ordered a 20x10 tarp online and my card was charged $247.50. I received a single email that said the order had been received, but then no email about shipping or anything subsequent. When I called two weeks later, they told me that they didnt have the 20x10 tarp and asked me if I wanted two 10x10 tarps instead. When I asked them why they charged my card for an item they did not have to sell, they said that this was standard business practice - that they needed to charge my card to start the order (for an item they didnt have). I then asked for a refund and was sent to another department which proceeded to credit a card that was not my card (luckily I caught this). When I said it wasnt my card, the service rep was pretty rude. Through all of this, no apologies, no nothing. Just posturing that this is standard procedure for them. I wouldnt even be writing this review if they would just apologize for dropping the ball, but the defense appears to imply that they are a shady operation.

I ordered my 8 x 20 16 0z canvas tarp from CC&S after a lot of shopping for the right thing This is for a privacy curtain for my hot tub and its very visible so aesthetics were a big part of my decision as well as durability and cost.I actually never thought I could afford a nice canvas curtain and was going to settle for vinyl until I came across this companies website. I am 1000% pleased. It came really fast (I chuckled as it was in a Crown Royal Box LOL fit perfect and I figured if they were drunk at least they drank quality booze lol) I have just installed it and it it great VERY heavy duty I was worried that 16 oz being the lightest wouldnt be enough. Hung a canvas tarp under a second floor deck with minimal tension and corner grommet tore out completely. Company says it knows about tearing problems and warns people on its website, so they will not refund or replace. There is no mention of tearing or what they consider inappropriate use. They directed me to an Ideal for link off of the product pages where they mention the use of wax and oil making it not recommended for canopies. No clarification from them as to how a consumer is supposed to assume that means it will tear under its own weight. As an aside, my initial email to the company was ignored and I was required to call. Their response is that I should have read up on blogs posted by the company before purchasing and that the failure is my fault. They are now ignoring me again. Best to avoid this company.

I normally never post a blog about a business, unless they are completely out of bounds. This is a horribly managed business. Our company contacted them to provide us with Custom Muslin backdrops, after 6 days of waiting the owner rudely informs me, their artist is not equip to handling the job.

Ordered custom canvas on tuesday, was promised it would ship out next day to be delivered by friday. when called for tracking on friday - was told that it will ship out today. meaning i was lied to when placing order. spoke with customer service and also to owner, who was rude and inconsiderate, told me that he wouldnt apologize and that i should have thought about ordering tarp much sooner which is totally not of his concern. very rude, specifically told me hes not apologizing because they are too busy, and he did not have to explain to me prior to completing my order that he is way too busy to meet timeline.usually in cases like this company that is reputable would admit mistake, apologize and overnight - not in this case.stay away if you want your product there on time. glad that i cancelled order - rather take my business some place.

I ordered a standard blue tarp for covering firewood and it appears to be the same as what I would get at Home Depot but at a fraction of the price.

*WARNING WARNING WARNING*THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY!!I am only giving one star because zero stars isnt an option.As a newcomer to the theatre community I contacted Chicago Canvas stating that I had never worked in fabrics before but was looking for theatre style curtains for a production. $3,100.00 later this company sends a fabric that does not resemble theatre curtains by any means. Its orange and feels cheap like a bed sheet. They refuse to work with me on settling the order. The very unprofessional representative exclaimed in an email We are not sure what you meant when you say theatre curtains and it is not my job to educate customers. As I continue on in the industry I will make it my purpose in life to make sure that this company does not generate any more business by deceit.

Ive been buying colored canvas from them for years. Always great people and very responsive to questions or problems.
