The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. Plenty of selection. Definitely a busy location where lots of art students shop.
Two storey store with a huge array of art supplies. Decent prices not jacked up for downtown location.
I love Blick, it has been one of my main go to places for art supplies. There were a lot of times where the store staff would host classes for teaching people different kinds of art techniques, mostly related to painting, I think. I love that about the store and also like seeing the art that people create and share throughout the building🖌🤠Theres a wide variety of supplies available in the store, but if you cant find what you need, their website does have options for ordering other materials to have them shipped to you.I dont know how long summer sales will last, but right now there are sales on a lot of notebooks and different kinds of sketch books.
Massive Art Store!!! Love this place... wander for hours among the aisles of art supplies... Friendly, knowledgeable staff eager to answer questions, HUGE selection of almost everything you can imagine. Quality products, reasonable prices, amazing selection. GREAT STORE!!
My favorite shopping place downtown! Great prices, wonderful selection, and the staff are gems. They are kind, helpful, and 98% of the time can point you to the item you want among the thousands they have on display. They will, if possible, physically guide you in their labyrinth of shelves to WHERE your item will be. Obviously for the best detailed service, try to go there NOT during the slight rush at lunchtime or the end of the school or business days. The cashiers are competent, polite and very efficient. The only time there is a bit of a line is during their special store-wide sales. Heck, to save big bucks, a short wait is a good trade off. They have been super careful with covid precautions, not an easy task in their narrow aisles. Once you are a registered user, there are even more discounts available every time you shop. The kids’ section is impressive. I always find a treat for younger family members there. The staff can make suggestions on how to accomplish a project economically, which always impresses my clients. If you are creating things for a charity, their money-saving advice and their tax exempt program is very helpful. If you are uncertain HOW to accomplish a project, the can give some advice.Their artwork competitions and special demonstrations are fun and show their kindly encouragement of artists.
I am not an artist, stumbled into the store by accident. It is THE place to go to see, learn and admire art supplies. Service is nice. GO!
Nice store with a decent assortment of art supplies. I was there for over an hour - guess I liked it!
This place has 2 floors, the first floor has a lot of paint, brushes, canvas (ever seen canvas that are 6 ft tall?), and more. It feels like this place has more material than Michaels
The people are what make this store so nice. There’s no attitude and not just no bad vibes but actual enjoyment and just excitement. I love being around people excited about art and paint. The guy that runs it is super super sweet. I’m so new to acrylics and he’s really been extra helpful. More than just knowledgeable but nice and helpful.I was in the craft store wasteland for too long thinking it was more convenient. This store is actually even more convenient being just steps away from the Monroe redline stop. Steps. Not even the usual Chicago Two Blocks.More than worth the trip. Give them you’re phone number and they match all online prices and deals.Convenient along with friendly and knowledgeable people. What more could you want?
This is my regular source for general art-supply needs. As a professional artist I need to count on a place to be regularly stocked with variety and quality merch. Blick has yet to disappoint.Plenty of name brand supplies as well as store-brand versions, a large array of each item, and even a few things I cant find elsewhere.Great location occupying two floors. Highly recommend.
I started to go here when my favorite art store artist and craftsman close down. I do like this store, there is so many different options for all the different individual supplies you’re looking for. They are always having good deals! Also they have a bunch of fun kitschy items to just spend money on. I come here pretty often now, and I’ve grown to love it.
This store is deceptive in its size. Walking in you see beautiful items displayed in a small NYC style shop. Go up stairs and the item youre looking for or something similar will be available. Ive never been disappointed by the supplies on hand or the helpful and awesome employees.
2 floors of art materials, everything you could possibly need for your art projects. Lots of staff standing by to answer questions and help you find what you need. Very friendly, yet not intrusive. The store is very pricey compared to other smaller art stores but being able to get everything you need in only one stop might actually make up the difference in cost. There is no on site parking so come prepared to battle the wind with your large bags of materials as you take your trek downtown to wherever you were able to find curbside parking. Will definitely return and will recommend.
Love blick, and this two story one is in a fun urban spot. Too bad they’re moving soon!
The workers here are super helpful. Helped me find exactly what I was looking for.
ALWAYS have each and every thing I need. Staff is very friendly and theyre all artists as well, so they can help you find exactly what you need in any budget.
Better than being a kid in a candy store.
An artists dream. Anything you need to create your magnum opus is here.
I wish this store was in Detroit, it had a lot to choose from and staff did try to help everyone they ran into.
It is an artists wonderland with very helpful, knowledgeable staff.
Every time I go, I get followed around by an employee. I understand that some come up to customers to check if they need assistance, but literally having the same employee constantly around you throughout the store is unacceptable. This is racial profiling and it needs to stop. I’m a POC and I know I’m not the only one that this has happened to. I enjoy the wide variety of supplies I can find here but if something isn’t done and if this issue isn’t addressed then I will have to find another art supply store where I won’t be perceived as a shady person.
Blick art is a great place for art lovers, especially painters, and also other creative stuff is available. It is relaxing to hang out in this shop for a creative mind.
Very cool place. They seemed to have everything that any sort of art lover would want.
Great selection of items. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Lots of cool art displayed around the store. One of my favorite art stores in Chicago.
The people here were really knowledgeable and friendly. They approached me to ask if I needed any help and left me to browse when I said I didn’t. But when I did have a question it was really easy to find someone to help. You could get lost looking at art supplies here for hours.
Picked up an order from this store because of COVID 19 and the staff got order ready so fast, the website tells you that your order will take a day but the staff got it done in less than 2 hours. I appreciate how they accommodate during this pandemic and hope others don’t misunderstand their precautions as being rude
Great place for artists and crafty people like me. If youre nearby 🛑 in. Check out the peacock doors at the jewelry store diagonally across the street too.
We had some time to kill in downtown chicago and my daughter wanted to go to an art supplies store we walked around looking at everything for a while and had a great time!
Been coming here for over 7 years, I currently have to travel 13 miles from my home to come here. Was here 3 days ago to upgrade my paint stock, and the store was closing for the night. I was gathering information on Golden’s acrylic paint pricing before heading to the escalator and literally seconds after they made the 10-minute mark intercom announcement, a staffer (African-American/mixed race girl) waltzes by me to tell me, VERY condescendingly, that the store is closing so I “might want to head down there”...like I’m deaf and loitering. I spent about $400 in there and I’m seriously thinking of returning it all just purely off of the strength of how rude she was to me. After spending criminally overpriced Uber fees to get there and back. Disgusting.
I wish that there was a place like this in Indianapolis. The section is amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
This place is amazing it has multiple floors filled with a artists dream all my art supplies are from their they have cheap prices kneeled erasers are only 50cents they have blenders copies markers sketch books and any thing you need I bought a 25 pack of paint brushes for 5 dollars they also have human figures to use for references basically they have it all
Great staff - great selection.
Unless you have blonde hair, blue eyes and light skin dont shop here.
Great place with lots of art supplies.
Very large store well organized with what they had. Friendly staff with fair prices there for the items they sold.
I love this store. This is my go to art store in Chicago. They have everything J could ever need and the staff is always so helpful and super friendly.
I absolutely adore this location. Walking in, you enter a vibrant atmosphere filled with creativity. The walls ooze creativity. On the first floor you can find canvases, stationary supplies and cute knickknacks. Although some things can be pricey, they always have great deals! This is a very nice place for an artist to get supplies on a budget. Upstairs on the second floor is where all of the real art supplies are. Any artistic and creative activity you can think of, they have the supplies for. The aisles are very conveniently labeled. Overall, I think this store is amazing and worth visiting for all of your artistic needs.
Emily helped me pick out materials for a remote painting class. She was amazing- though, helpful with products and prices and even included a sweet hand drawn card in my pick-up package!!!!❤️
I love this store, my favorite place to restock supplies. I literally just left the store on State Street about an hour ago 🙄 The employees are so helpful and happy to do it! I recommend Blicks theyre my go to.
A bag of art supplies I was holding tore because I was careless and they were nice enough to replace the broken item
Outstanding place for art supplies. They have a nice amount of stock on hand and a nice variety of brands to choose from. I find the prices to be very reasonable, especially individual COPIC markers. The staff is amazing...very friendly and personable. My only issue, and its not any fault of Block...its the parking. I would love to see a Blick store south of here...one with a parking lot. Still, I will be going back for most of my art needs.
Super place for art supplies with huge selection.
All the art and craft supplies you could possibly need! I love this store.
The positive: Comprehensive, (Lots of options), art/creative supply options. The negative: Chicago, IL, downtown parking is expensive, not convenient or well placed so organize/plan your shopping efforts. Very well worth the effort!
Great selection of art supplies!
I love the vast amount of art supplies, but their paper price ranges can be a bit high. They just put in a cosplay shelf which is great! Because cosplay truely is craft and art. I just wished they had a larger cosplay section and maybe a in shop intro class into making cosplay. They need body paint markers. I like to draw on skin, skin is my favorite canvas but they dont have markers specifically for that.
Everything you could need for your artistic creations and more.
Black female Assistant Manager is rude, grumpy, and unhappy.Doesn’t make for a pleasant shopping experience.
I think that the store is very stocked, you can find anything you want. And the people that work there, help you in every moment with a big smile.
Havent been to an art supplies store in a while. I really liked this place. Has pretty much everything you need, from pencils to air brushes. Paper stock to wooden boards. Prices are decent too for what youre getting. Definitely a one stop shop for art stuff.
👍
The customer service was very poor. There was a lot of staff there. Downstairs absolutely no one greeted us and upstairs it seemed like the staff was only concerned about if peoples masks were on properly. Lol Not one person asked if we needed help or were finding what we needed. I asked if they had anything for whittling and we got this response, “no we don’t sell wood here”? Whittling is much more than just wood. We also saw a couple who’s mask fell off under their nose once and the staff approached them and threatened to kick them out right away, the couple than said they were leaving anyway and the staff said okay good well the doors downstairs. We were shocked to hear how rude the staff was towards them. We left afterwards since they don’t sell wood lol.
Always helpful and creatively inspiring. I could spend a whole day at the store on State Street. Abit tight for people in wheelchairs, but it is accessible. Staff are well trained. Not only a well stocked and organized art supply store, you can also pick up gifts for friends like books, stationary, office equipment, celebration decorations, and much more. There are two floors, so plan to stay awhile and enjoy each isle. The childrens department has unique gifts with learning age appropriate gifts. Theres no room in the store for kids though, leave them at home. Lots of trouble for them to get into with thousands of items at a toddlers arms length. As I left my eye caught a display of very tiny plastic animals, well designed and modeled for $1.00.You can spend a fortune, or loose change. Either way, youll never leave empty handed.
Felt completely embarrassed and insulted. Staff was on your tail as if you were there to steal merchandise. Shouldnt have bought anything and walked away but I went in to purchase some graphite but this will be my first and last time I step into a Blick. Smh
Great art store. Very helpful staff
Absolutely love walking around this store. Its always fun the see what they got on display and find new things to try. The workers here are also very nice and helpful. This one cashier helped me price match a wood burner I was buying to a sale they were having online. Overall a great experience.
Once you’re lured inside (“just to take a quick peek”) you’ll never be able to leave the store.Copious amount - really - of interesting, curious stuff and quality art material prevent you from leaving Blick in less than 30 minutes.: )Actually, I COULD live in there, in the second floor, where they display all painting and drawing materials along with toys and inspirational gadgetsThe store is staffed by friendly, courteous, helpful and savvy people. Artists themselvesGuess I discovered an unexpected tourist point among many other in Chicago downtown
Love the creativity that comes from each new visit!
Very cool place with huge selection. Lots of inspiration for my budding artist son. Had fun just walking around the store and bonding with my son over his passion for his artistic endeavors. Check it out if youre in the area.
They bought Utrecht and gradually and consistently keep removing the high quality brands from the store. If I want junk I can go to hobby lobby. Good linen canvas, gone, old holland paint gone from the location near me. High quality mediums, gone. Not everyone wants student grade. Some of us take what we do seriously.
These people are usually very helpful, i just wish they had more locations 😀
One of my absolute favorite art stores. This location always has great staff who are very friendly. I do almost all my shopping at this particular store or online!
Everyone here is always so nice! They always have exactly what I need and a bunch of cute little things that would make perfect gifts!
I was kicked out of the store for taking a picture of a drawing desk I intended to purchase as a gift for my kid brother. I wanted to first check that he liked it before buying it for him. I politely and logically explained myself to the security goon and then to a manager (I think?), but they werent having it. They stubbornly lost money over a no photos policy and very rudely told me to leave.
Great for when the art bug bites and you want some supplies right now. Carries a good variety of products, but not everything you could ever want. Prices are a little higher than Amazon, but you get instant gratification. Staff are very helpful.
This store is big and I always need help finding what Im looking for. I usually have to find someone but they are always willing to help. I was disappointed this last time I visited when I asked two different employees for two different items and neither of them knew what the item was and assumed it wasnt stocked. No one offered to find out the answer and no one suggested a similar alternative. I spent another 15-20 minutes finding both the items I needed on my own, they were in stock. I feel like this speaks to Blicks wide range of products, but also lack of product knowledge across the staff at this location.
Great service and have all your art needs!
Anything and everything you could want as an artist is there.
Blick is like a candy store for artists. My daughter is a budding artist and weve spent many happy afternoons here testing alcohol markers, colored pencils, pastels, and paints. The first floor contains crafting supplies, gifts and canvases. Upstairs youll find dozens of media, tools, and framing supplies. I love poring through the fancy papers - there are hundreds!
Fantastic!! They have almost anything you could need and at a reasonable price. Sales all of the time! Bought more brushes and Arches pads for watercolor. Picked up some gifts for my nieces. Large childs art selection. Great store!! Wish I lived closer.
Blick was an amazing art store. That everything you could need at decent prices. The gave my daughter a discount for being a student. The staff was helpful and friendly. We will definitely visit again.
This place busssinnn 😩🤤🥶🔥😏🥵👌🏻
Great store for all your art needs and then some.
This was an awesome store. HUGE. The square footage I mean. The upstairs was really cool. Great selection too.
Love the selection at Blick! This store has everything for professionals, students, and beginners. Each section is well organized and its easy to find what youre looking for. If you dont know what to look for or where to look, all of the employees are extremely knowledgeable and helpful! Always willing to come here for art supplies before other art stores.
Perfect store to buy art materials! I was able to buy all the necessary items I need for my project. Highly recommend this place.
Im no art student or artist but when my family and I walk around in here, you get the feeling that if you are looking for anything art related, they have it here. Awesome place to wander around in for a while, great selection, and plenty of cool artsy toys and knick knacks (impulse buys) on the first floor.
So many things crammed into this two story downtown art store. Very cramped but you can find everything a Blick has to offer. I bought alcohol ink, a fancy copper colored pencil and looked at art resin while I was shopping. Tons of paper and canvas downstairs with more paint and supplies upstairs. Got some great waterboard canvas here during their annual canvas sale last year.
Great assortment for all artistic needs. I found some great deals. Hope to be back soon.
Mega store! Even if you dont have a list of must haves, there are so many simple projects and stuff to spruce up your living space. Prices even on art supplies are reasonable, and the variety gives you choices so you can still get quality stuff.
Dont be afraid to ask the associates, they know their stuff!
Great place as always.
This store is like paradise for artists at all levels! Great selection of art supplies at reasonable prices. Employees were very helpful.
One of the reasons I love Chicago is because of the Blick store here. They have the best staff, best service and best prices. An art shop ought to be like Blick! Love Blick!!!!
Low stock at times... but amazing store
I always love going into art stores. This one is full of great supplies as well as fun artsy gifts and do dads. Always spend way more time and money than I anticipated. Even if you are not an artist looking for art supplies this store is for everyone. Who doesnt need a good pen or market or silly greeting card or desktop toy?!?
They have tons of canvas, paint, framing supplies, drawing supplies and papers, high quality notebooks, and tons of other stuff. You can check with them first online or phone if you need anything special. Super friendly, helpful staff too.
Great store and very deep selection of items, semi knowledge staff, feel free to ask the same question if different people....some much more knowledgeable than others. I always cross price check with Amazon app...think they price match but not sure. Good store to visit.
From beginner to expert, this is the place to get the supplies you need to create. I found the staff to be incredibly helpful even though I couldnt name half of the things I was looking for. I was looking through some tubes of very expensive oil paint. Suspecting its not really where I needed to be, the store clerk led me to the beginners acrylic paints, brushes, canvases and an easel. Expertise, professionalism, courtesy and more art supplies than one could imagine. I loved the way I was treated and will certainly be back.
Big, clean, lots of selection. A favorite place for paints, canvas and sketch books.
