I have bought my pool chemicals and accessories from the Great Outdoor Place for many years and they have always been amazing. I don’t ever write reviews but I felt compelled to say my piece about how great they are to have in Chattanooga.Todd convinced me to buy a Dolphin automated bottom cleaner around 5 years ago and that is the best purchase I have ever made for my pool. It has had issues over the years and looks ragged but Todd and his team can always replace one piece for a small amount and have fixed it twice with their expertise at no charge.I once came in just before closing and they had closed their registers and I was looking for a small item under $10 and Todd told me to take it. They had closed the registers 5 minutes too early and they said to take it with you. I paid a little over the price with the cash I had.I really trust this place. I like the people and I love knowing that they are there for me.

I would not recommend this place of business. We went there to order a liner for our swimming pool in March. They told us it cost $150 to get us on their schedule to measure our pool for the liner. We paid the $150 dollars on March 25th and they (Todd) said someone would be there in 1 to 2 weeks. After two weeks and no one coming out or the store contacting me I called the store and they (Todd) told me it would be at least 5 more weeks. The excuse given was rain and the fact they were very busy. How in only a two week period they slipped our schedule out 5 more weeks made no sense to me. I then called a few more times and was told I was on the schedule but they now had no idea when someone would come. I emailed the store manager twice and they never responded. Finally last week the last week after now waiting 8 weeks with no one coming out or the store even contacting me, I called and canceled the measuring service.

Ive waited 6 months to write this review and its long overdue. I bought my Artisian Island Elite Spa from Dara and couldnt be happier. I am an extremely frugal shopper that takes A VERY LONG TIME to make a major purchase, I highly recommend DARA and the Great Backyard Place Staff. Very friendly and helpful (patient too). I swing by there about every ten days or so to have my water tested (for free!) and they are always friendly. Chemicals and maintenance are way easier than I expected. About $10 a month is all. And my power bill increase was about $7 a month. Well worth it.I will continue to do business with GBP and especially Dara, patio furniture is next.

Do not go near this place at lunch. There are some very hangry people in the store. We went in to ask about pricing on a pool. We were told that they had 15 ft and 21 ft pools. And we told this in a take or leave it tone of voice. There was no talk of when they might have availability in the future. Obviously they did not need our business as we went elsewhere and bought a pool that day.

Stopped in for a pump seal kit. Very nice store and courteous staff. Inquired about liner replacement while there. The girl behind the counter gave me a business card of the “parts and service “ manager and told me how the process works. A couple weeks later I called and left my number to be called back. Nothing. I called again and left a message. Nothing. I sent an email back and forth trying to schedule a measure. Called and spoke to the “manager “ regarding the measure and was told I would have to pay an additional $700 (approximately) for mileage because I live 56 miles from them and the other location was closer than them. He asked me to email some measurements and pictures so I did and guess what.... NOTHING! I feel bad for the owner because with “management “ like this... they are not getting their money’s worth. Just lost a customer for life.

None but two of the store employees wore masks. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC! What do people not understand? It’s sad that this store doesn’t care for the health of its customers. They also don’t have a mask policy. That would have avoid the mask-less coughing lady in store, in the tool section. She was coughing basically in the face of the mask-less employee working behind the counter. This is how COVID spreads. This is so sad.

Bad place went in and the sale guy was trying come to my house said he can do it cheaper i said how would the ower feel about that he said hes my dad he look like a druggie and kept asking and i said no so he walk off mad kind refuse to help i got my wife and got outta there so bwatch out for this guy

Very friendly and nice, but once you buy not going to come fix anything that is not right. They will give it to you to fix and are very nice about it. I have had a couple things - leak on frog system and light mess up within couple weeks of having pool. They are very nice on phone but not going to come fix. They will give me stuff to fix myself and if I knew how I would not mind. I could give 5 stars for being nice but 2 for service.

Please do no use this company! They breached a contract on a pool installation because they were unhappy with the deal they made. Family owned but not family friendly. Shame on Ken Paxton at Great Backyards!

I called this place pricing a new pool. Told the sale person size I wanted. They emailed me a quote, which after discussing specifics on, I decided to go with. Paid my deposit and then they emailed me my receipt. After getting my receipt, I noticed they had sold be a different size pool, than I had asked and priced them for. I contacted the sale person, where I was then told there must have been some confusion on what I wanted. No confusion on my part, so obviously they paid no attention to what I asked for pricing on. Then they emailed Me a new quote for an even higher price. This place is a joke. I told the sales rep, if they wanted to make things right and get their pricing in line with what they had quoted me, that I’d still use them. All I received back was an email saying we understand and for me to have a good weekend. They were a total waste of my time and felt very lied to at the end of everything. Not saying they are dishonest, but definitely get everything in writing prior to your purchase with them.

Biggest priced outdoor furniture store Ive seen. Not very friendly either.

I really like the pool parts department and the free water testing is great. They will get your pool water looking sharp. Parts knows their stuff and can help you get what you need and tell you how to use the parts.

We love to check out the Christmas shop here every year. its always different and has some beautifully decorated trees. i managed to find an item sold out at most other places.

I bought a home with a pool that has been dormant for god knows how long. I drained 2/3 of it and started with what I knew. When I needed help I turned to various pool places with no luck or feeling like they wanted to help (including a big competitor). Just when I was about to give up and rip the pool out I decided to try the backyard place. Mika and his team today were OUTSTANDING. That is what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I am a service professional myself and have been for over 12 years I can’t say it enough, they are OUTSTANDING!!!! They will FOREVER have my business due to this single encounter. From helping me with my water to understanding the frustration and giving me steps to follow to clear my pool. Helping me with the purchase of my new sand filter and EVERTHING in between. 500 stars!!!

I love bringing my family here to see all the all the GORGEOUS Christmas trees!!! The staff is friendly and there’s decor for every taste. It’s higher quality decor so don’t expect Walmart pricing. But the trees and garlands cone with a warranty in case the lights quick working.

3 star not 1. Drove 150 miles round trip and was given the wrong filters for my hot tub I purchased last year. Told the guy on the Platinum it had two larger filters and one small and he gave me three of the same size and said they would fit and they will not fit in there together. Im a search around local up here to find another smaller filter.

The great backyard place has everything you can imagine to take care of your pools. But you know your backyard doesnt stop at the pool they have the grills so that you can have an awesome cook out or party or picnic with the family in the backyard. They have patio furniture that you can put out in the backyard to make the experience enjoyable for all of your guests. But the best thing about the great backyard place are the employees all of them are smiling all of them were very helpful and they all want you to have the best experience possible.

Customer service was very good, she helped us pick the perfect pool and package but did seem very animate on selling us the pool rather than buying the one from next door. The one thing I hate is we have no clue when our pool will be delivered/installed. Wishing we would have went with somewhere else that was a little quicker!

They are friendly, helpful, and carry what I need for the pool. The young man took one look at the broken basket and immediately knew what I needed. The lady on her break saw me not only struggling to find the front door but also walking due to leg injury. She escorted me to see that I made it safely. That is service unparalleled!

Called several times earlier this year to get an estimate for a pool and kept getting excuses that they might be a month of so before they could come out. Never heard from them ever and just gave up. We called three other places and some of the same treatment. I guess they are so busy they dont care. We are on our fifth company now that says they will start in December. We will see. How disappointing but we are not going to beg anyone to take forty to fifty thousand dollars to build us a pool.

Great place to get pool supplies and in the Holidays go get great trees and ornaments for your trees. Kids and grandkids always have a great time!

I purchased a pool on 5/31/2017. The pool was installed Tuesday afternoon 6/27/2017. Before it was even a quarter of the way filled, it started leaking. I contacted The great backyard & was told to contact the installer to whom I had NO contact info on. I called 4 times before I got a name & number. Now, I do understand that sometimes things can happen possible like a defected liner or something. However, the lack of disrespect from the the great backyard where I purchased the pool & who send this person out to install is the issue. No returned phone calls nothing! They were awesome when selling me the pool & taking my money. After trying to contact the installer whos phone does not take messages, I am still left without any results to who is gonna fix this pool. Its useless if it dont hold water to say the least. The communication or lack of is very disappointing. No respect for the customer

I bought my pool here many years ago. They were great to purchase from and delivery & set up were fantastic. A few years later I moved and took the pool with me. When we had it reinstalled, they were able to help me get some misplaced parts that I needed and were so helpful with advice. The water testing is a great convenience and seems to be very accurate. Everyone knows their stuff here!

I have bought 2 above ground pools here and all they care about is making the sale. They run out of BASIC chemicals etc. for the equipment they sell you (parts too) and have acted like they could care less if you ever get what you need. Cartridge cleaner ? Really?? They push the Frog system, which is actually a good system but dont sell kits like opening and closing the pool. I will never be back, I have made 4 trips this season and left totally empty handed. The help was more concerned trying to prove me wrong than helping..I am done and have a lot of friends with pools in my area I am passing this on to.

This is a hard place to rate because they are very inconsistent. Last week, I was greeted at the door, asked how they could be of assistance, then took me to what I needed. This week, there was no one greeting me at the door, and I was afforded the opportunity to wait ten minutes until someone showed up at the parts counter. Parts phone kept ringing with no one answering it. At one point, an intercom message said parts had two calls holding but still no one answering. Still, hit or miss, I like to buy my chemicals from someone who knows what they do rather than seeing them only as a up code to scan. I have had 5 star trips as well as one star trips here.

I have been using the Pool Place for the past 16 years. Their water testing is always correct and they dont try to sell you a lot of extra chemicals. They genuinely care about YOU as the customer. The parts people, in fact, everyone at the Pool Place is friendly, professional and helpful. There is no reason to go anywhere else.

Used to go here all the time when I used to own a pool and the service was always excellent, but when I type into google for places that I can take my kids swimming around me this always pops up as a place to swim, might want to look into changing that.

Awesome experience with the Great Backyard Place. Our pool was installed last Summer. A few days ago, before we uncovered it, the liner had fallen down from the walls. I called the manager Justin, and he took care of us with no delay. Mike and his team arrived a few days later, on time, and very professional. They got the new liner installed in no time. They were also kind enough to answer questions I had, as well as demonstrated to me the things we need to do to maintain and winterize the pool. Thanks for a great job, well done!

I tried price matching with their competitor down the road & decided I would never use anyone other than The Pool Place after the experience I had. I have been a customer of The Pool Place for several years now. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable. The owner, Frank May is always concerned about the customers experience in his store. I travel close to 40 minutes to have the water tested for my pool just because they always go above and beyond what they have to to make sure my pool is ready for the summer. You wont find a better staff when it comes to pool care than at The Pool Place.

The store looked nice.. but the customer service was horrible. Noone offer to help us and when we asked a question about a pool pump the guy said he had no idea and he walked off. The the prices were outrageous! The store at home has the same furniture for half the price.

Christmas trees and decorations where great every kind you can think of. Priced reasonably.Beautiful

I was in the store for the first time Saturday 5/17 and had a great experience. The pool testing staff was very friendly and they had a person who could take you to the products you needed. A much improved experience from last year.

When it was time to replace our liner for our 40x22ft inground pool, we entrusted the job to The Pool Place, and we are glad we did. From the person who made measurements to order the liner to the guys that installed the beautiful finished product, we were impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the whole experience. The liner was a perfect fit, and was quickly and efficiently installed...the hardest part of the whole process was having the patience to wait for the pool to fill up! We wouldnt go anywhere else for a pool liner.

I could not be unhappier! Bought a pool in Feb 2019 to use this summer. It’s mid June and still a a hole in the ground! Excuse after excuse! GM (Pan) has no answers and no solutions. Even the CFO Scott did not help. And to think I spent ten of thousands $ here makes me madder.Update - The pool was finally completed on July 3rd after having to go in the store and complain in person. The liner is too small and does not fit properly at the corners. The Travertine coping was installed in a rush and the 12x12 pieces do not line up! Pictures below is just a few of the dozens of incorrectly installed pieces. Also, one light does not work but I am happy its holding water and can finally use it!After many conversations, phone calls and upset meetings, I believe the Great Backyard Place hired a contractor that was over worked and made promises to customers that he could not keep. I found out I was not the only upset customer and many others are still waiting for their pool to be finished. That contractor - Jeremy with JEM Works was the main reason for all the frustration and unkept promises. He even went 3 weeks without showing up! Plus he destroyed my yard, waterfall and landscaping. Jeremy was all about doing as many pools as he could and putting everyone off so he could make as much money as possible in the short pool building season. The people at Great Backyard Place, namely Pan and Charles, tried hard to make me happy and get the pool finished. They were also putt off by Jeremy. My recommendations is to buy the pool from them but make sure JEM Works (Jeremy) does not do the install!!

We purchased a 30 above ground pool from The Great Backyard Place. We are extremely happy with the pool, however, during the installation there was an amount of dirt and harbor lite that was left in the pool that took a few weeks to clean out with the skimmer and dolphin vacuum. But the GBYP went out of their way to help us in correcting our water chemistry levels. We are now where we need to be and love our pool and would recommend the GBYP to anyone interested in a pool purchase.

Y husband and I have had a largely trouble-free Artesian spa for 17 years and LOVED our nightly date under the stars! When we moved to North Atlanta recently, we found ourselves missing it more than we could have imagined! After reconnoitering the Atlanta area, we found The Pool Place price, even with long-distance delivery, to be a tremendous value ~ and we already knew the great product quality and people there!! The spa was delivered and installed by great professionals who took time to instruct and equip us in using all the great new feature advances since our last purchase! We cannot say enough good things about the new spa AND the wonderful people at The Pool Place! Theyve equipped us for a daily mini-escape under the stars, and we couldnt be more thrilled! Very helpful, but since we got the pool in July, I have been in many times, and they failed to mention that we had pool chemicals that we hadnt picked up. Might have been why we were turning green so soon after we opened the pool.

The only place for a hundred miles that could fix my pool filter. It only took 10 minutes.
