As an out of towner who needed a repair I was really disappointed in my experience with Auto Doctor. I took my car in for an inspection and they quoted me a price for a repair that I thought was exceptionally high. I took my car to the dealership for a second opinion and their estimate came in at $700 cheaper than Auto Doctor for the same repair work. On top of that, when I returned to pick up my car from Auto Doctor their technician had failed to replace the glove compartment, leaving the inner workings of the dash exposed and all of my things thrown haphazardly in the floor. The whole experience felt grimy and I would caution those looking for significant repair work on their cars to be wary.

My brother came in from out of town for the day & his truck wouldn’t start, AAA said it wasn’t the battery. This was the only place open on a Saturday afternoon that would look at it that day! Yasha was incredible & found what was wrong quickly & fixed it & made sure my brother was able to travel back to his home. Ask for Yasha, he is so knowledgeable & I will definitely be bringing my car to him anytime I need anything!

From out of town, was in Charlottesville and truck would not start. Called them Saturday afternoon, had the truck towed there an hour later and Yasha looked at the truck right away. Problem was not apparent from the start, but Yasha continued to search for the issue - he was able to find a small fixable issue and I was able to drive away that afternoon. He no doubt saved me lots of time and thousands of dollars with his thorough assessment of my truck. If you are in Charlottesville and need car repair this is the place to go. Cant recommend enough.

Auto and Truck Doctor helped me when my car broke down in Charlottesville. They were transparent about pricing and had my car fixed quickly. High quality service.

I discovered that I had a nail stuck in my tire on my way out of town. Due to convenience, I stopped at a different mechanic but they were extremely unprofessional (arguing with a customer), so I left and went straight to Gary’s. i should’ve gone there in the first place! The guys there are so helpful, professional and really take care of their customers. I would recommend them to anyone in the Cville area.

I have tried many different service centers in Charlottesville over the past 30 years and this is the best. I have had extensive work done here over the past five years with four different cars. This is not a fancy place but their work is consistently high quality, done on time, and at a fair price. You are not pressured into repairs you dont need and you can trust what they tell you.I just want to add that the owner Garry retired, but many of the mechanics remain and still provide high quality work. My experience with the new management has been great. This continues to be the place I where I take my cars.

If youre thinking about getting an inspection here, I would highly recommend either getting a second opinion or dont come here at all.They initially gave me 6 violations and a quote of $1600 to get everything fixed. Now I dont have any defense for that, since it is true that I havent been taking care of my car as much as I shouldve been in the past couple of years so I wasnt surprised.I took my car to a different shop to get a second opinion (in Lynchburg VA at the time) and thats when I started to smell the BS: they told me that I only had 4 violations and the quote was around $900. Even if shops work differently and has different way of running things, thats quite the difference if you ask me.After I got all of the issues fixed (fixing a couple things myself), I took my car to a shop named Larrys since it was the closest shop to my job that had availability. They told me that they would be transferring to my car to their other shop in a different location to do the inspection and I agreed. What I didnt know was that that location was where I initially got my car inspected-- Garrys Greenbrier Service.They failed my inspection again, and this time, they changed parts around without telling me and went ahead and charged me for it for the part and labor. Ive had my car inspected twice at this point, and no one has mentioned that I had issues with my light signals, until I got there. Ended up spending $128 to get my car inspected and my oil changed; oh and get parts changed in my car that I didnt even ask for.We couldve fixed it all for you the gentleman at the counter said. Thanks bro, but Id rather spend my $700 somewhere else.But this is just my experience though. Might be different for someone else.

When I lived in Charlottesville this was the only place I ever used. Never had an issue with any work they performed. Prices were always reasonable. This was from back in 2010. Took me forever of find someone as reliable and trustworthy as Garry.

I come from a family of mechanics. I will not use any other mechanic since I moved to Charlottesville. I trust these guys with my companies vehicles and my personal vehicles. They are the best priced and best quality mechanics around. Would make my dad proud if he was still with us.

My experience at Garry’s Greenbrier the worst Ive ever had with a mechanic, in more than 40 years of driving. We all want a mechanic who is both honest and competent, and they seem honest. But Im not willing to settle for one or the other. In short, I had to bring the car back in to repair the same issue three times (twice requiring towing because the issue wasnt fixed), leaving me open to potential road strandings over the Thanksgiving holiday, and both the owner and the technician showed non- existent customer service skills. The owner was downright rude, and the tech made excuses. Also, if you pay by credit card, they charge you $35, and they don’t keep records to speak of. My experience appears to have things in common with that of Melissa, below. They may be fine for routine maintenance; though I wouldnt trust them again. For details, please check my review on yelp.

These guys have been working on my familiys cars for as long as I can remember. They always make room for us in the schedule and never overcharge us. Sad to see some people have had poor experiences here!

These people are total scumbags. Paid $1,800 for a major repair that appeared to have not even been done according to 2 other shops. Had to pay someone else $2,400 to completely do the job again. Seriously, they are scam artists. I shouldve trusted my gut. Stay far far far away.

These people are crooks! Do not take your car here! Their Mechanic actually scraped away a rust spot on my muffler turning a pin hole into a larger hole causing it to fail inspection. I do all the work on my wifes car and I knew about the pin hole but after the car came back to me you could stick your pinky in the hole. You have been warned!
