I bought two leather sofas from Schewel Charlottesville last Dec. One started changing its color after six months. I contacted Schewel Furniture repeatedly, sent them pictures and once personally walked in. They referred me to a protection company where I sent pictures again and again. Now after five weeks, I’m still waiting for a reply from them. When I bought the sofas Schewel told me that the company would be responsible for any manufacturers defects but now they don’t care.

I always go to Schewel’s first to find what I want. They are always accommodating, friendly, and really work with you to try to get the best deal on quality furniture. This visit I’ve purchased a complete queen size bedroom suite, two credenzas, and end table. All items were in stock and delivery scheduled five days after purchase. They also changed their 5-year furniture protection plan to a customer-centric business model. If you do not use your protection plan within five years you can use that as credit to purchase new furniture at the end of the five years. It is a win-win for both Schewel’s and the customer.
We had a wonderful shopping experience! Our salesperson, Terry, was very knowledgeable and helpful! He was very respectful and gave us the space we needed to make our decisions. The finance person was wonderful, as well. I had so much fun chatting with her (I feel horrible that I can’t remember her name!)
If I could give 0 stars I would. The furniture itself seems decent, and they have a large variety/selection. While the sales team is nice, I would triple check the piece of furniture you are buying is available. I found a couch I liked, was told it was available only to find out it had already been sold. The saleswoman I was working was very nice and had someone call another store. I was told it was available there, I could purchase the couch that day, and they would call on Monday with an update. My card was charged for over $1,000 and then Monday came and went with no call. I had to call Tuesday and was told the couch was unavailable. Very upsetting that no one thought to call me after getting charged over $1,000 for a couch that didnt exist. I asked to speak to a manager because while each person was polite there was obviously a breakdown in team communication. He offered an apology, and then just tried to sell me another couch.... doubt I will go back.
I came to this store and found exactly what I was looking for. The customer service was seamless and we were in an out quickly. The best part, though, was that it was affordable. Im looking forward to seeing my furniture in my new apartment over the summer.

Great customer service when you are purchasing something. When you need warranty work done it like pulling teeth for someone to call you back. They never return your calls. They keep your stuff weeks on end.
Hard to share where to begin but sometimes its not just one individuals fault, so here it is.... We purchased a nice table and chairs set from cville location and waited months for it to come. We received it only to have most if it not even able to be put together to make it work. Parts were wrong, new cushions on the bench were stained. It was unlevel and the table was chipped. We called and were finally able to get a nice young man to help with parts from the floor model to make it functional.Fast forward we thought we would give them a chance and buy a very nice bed (paying cash) and when it was delivered after waiting past the delivery date it was so hard you couldnt sleep on it, customer service rep said the floor model was broke in and had been in the store for 2 years so it wasnt gunna lay the same as a new one. (Not sure how I felt about that) we decided to get another new bed that was soft from day one.After hearing them tell my wife they didnt care about her feelings and didnt care that she wasnt happy I asked them for a full refund for which they couldnt do. They decided instead to give dressers to match the bed. Not wanting to seem unfair or to complain we agreed to purchase night stands that matched dressers.Upon receiving the dressers after waiting again past the time frame given the new dresser was so busted it had to be trashed.Once again we felt like this would never get resolved. The manager then said he could bring one dresser that didnt match to the other and wait for other. Its been a month now and no word from schewels as to when matching dresser would arrive.Im not sure if anyone else has had a bad experience but it seems to just be swept under the rug in the cville store and as the paying customers we are left with no answers.
Schewel Home Furniture store has serviced our business for years. They are always courteous, kind and know how to make you feel like family. I would give them a 10.

Really like the sofa, chairs and table we purchased. Selection was good. Some confusion on sale pricing. The person in financing explained in detail how the sale applied to our purchase. Sales person was not as clear. We left knowing our purchase was a good bargain and the savings worth every penny.

WENT LOOKING FOR A CABINET TO PUT GLASS STUFF IN N WILLOW ANGELS N THEY DIDNT HAVE BUT 2 THINGS TO LOOK AT. I THINK ONE WAS 2 BIG N I THINK THE OTHER ONE MAY HAVE WORKED. BUT THEY ONLY HAD THE SELL FOR ONE DAY WITH FREE DELIVERY. SO I DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO GO BACK N LOOK AGAIN AFTER I CAME HOME N MEASURED MY WALL. I WAS DISAPPOINTED.JACKIE SAID IT HAD BEEN A WHILE SINCE THEY HAD ANY CURIO CABINETS IN N IM NOT REALLY WANTING SOMETHING WITH 2 MUCH GLASS. I USUALLY FIND WHAT I WANT IN THERE. VERY DISAPPOINTED . BUT ILL GO BACK THE NEXT TIME I HEAR THEY HAVE FREE DELIVERY.

I will say this they were better than grand home furniture, who earlier that day were not friendly and were not helpful didnt care one bit if we bought anything from them. Well grand lost a 4000.00 cash sale to Schewels.

The staff always wants to rush you off the phone if they even answer the calls. The only time this company reports anything to the credit bureau is when there is something negative to report. I have emailed Schewels 4 times to update my credit information within the last 30 days and there still has been no response.

I have a daughter she is six but when I was trying to buy a dresser she was five. Actually, she was doing a class and I told her if she passed her class then I will buy a nice dresser she passed the class and as I promised I went to Schewel furniture to buy a dresser in June 2020. While I was buying a dresser I saw a couple of dresser on sale so I went ahead and asked the guy if he cuts me a deal then I would buy few more other stuff and he talked other lady and she cut me deal. Then she transferred to another lady for payment. But This lady charge me more than what I was told before I told her I had a deal, but she really gave me a hard time and she kind a gave hard time for the other lady. She acted very disrespected and seems like she didn’t want to sell that product, seeing little tensed situation I agreed to pay more than what I was told before, she still had attitude towards me throughout the transaction I paid entire money upfront and I was told One dresser is special item so it will take 8 to 12 weeks and the other will come in normal time. 3 item came after few days, chest was completely broken I thought it was minor damage but was useless I still haven’t used it yet. We waited for my daughter’s dresser for two months and I called them asking about the status of dresser they told me they haven’t got it yet they will let me know in the beginning of next month I waited another month call them and they told me they haven’t still got it yet but they will call me as soon as they get I waited again over a month I called them and they told me to talk to Cindy in the warehouse then I started calling her but I never got a hold of her I used to leave a voice message but I never received call back I called several times but no response. During this period my daughter asked me so many times where is my dresser daddy, I cannot express how I felt in those moments. And this happened just because of the incapability, irresponsible and unprofessional business. But on 23rd of January 2021 I called and got hold of Cindy in warehouse first she told me everything already delivered and I told her I haven’t received my daughters dresser and I told her I had the SKU number and she ran that number through and now she told me they already give me credit for that dresser and I told her I haven’t received any credit and she told me to come to the office and check with them she doesn’t deal with that kind of stuff so I left what I was doing and went there but when I got there in a parking lot she called me and told me she talk to the manager and manager confirmed that I haven’t received delivery so she rescheduled on February 1, 2021. I turned around and came home. I bought 90% of my furniture in schewel 10% in GRAND HOME FURNITURE, GHF called me and asked about my stuff I bought, they sent me card for doing business and they sent me coupon $100-200 for next business. They even asked me if I wanted soda, coffee or water when I entered at GRAND HOME FURNITURE in Winchester VA. GHF Excellent customer service with personal touch. But schewel just opposite, I hope they learn and correct themself, I will never ever do any business with schewel and I will share my extremely bitter experience with all friends and family.

I have made 3 different purchases with Schewels in the last 4 years. My most recent definitely could’ve been better. Grease stains on my freshly painted “white” walls, which had to be cleaned and re painted. The hardware on my dresser was placed upside down and decided to turn them (instead of taking them off and trying again)putting a noticeable circular groove in the wood. A complaint was made and a new piece of furniture was on its way. In contacting the manager I don’t feel like he did his best to keep customer satisfaction/happy. There was a long awaited called back from management 30+ days later. My furniture was delivered toward the end of June and I still haven’t received my replacement. No very pleased
Getting them to produce a contract is much easier than getting them to produce your furniture. Part of my order was out of stock and we were never informed which caused delivery to be delayed. No one once reached out about the issues we would have to track the warehouse manager Cindy down to get any answers and eventually were treated as aninconvenience. Management tried to deliver out incorrect furniture for the missing items to be done with us. The drivers Jay and Shay did an awesome job for us and went above and beyond on the delivery and taking the incorrect furniture back. After six weeks of waiting we cancelled the order and went another route. We were offered a discount of the 100$ delivery fee for our inconvenience.

Went in Schewels about a month and a half ago looking for a furniture set for my living room and was helped by Erika she helped us pick out a beautiful sectional and was very informational about the material and what would look nice with the set. I came back yesterday in hopes of finding a piece for my bedroom set and was greeted by Kathy and she was PHENOMENAL very high spirited very down to earth. She took me right to a chest that I had my eyes on before and and didn’t have to say two words before I said I’ll take it. Been there once, they messed up a lot because of doesnt seem that all the employees are on the same page. If someone guarantees you a shipping date, it might not be right. Otherwise, the furniture they have is great. The delivery people did a great job. I enjoyed going around and taking a look the store and see their selection, but the salesmen seem that they have to help me. I walked around for 25min, and couple salesmen asked me give times or so if I needed help

Eileen asked several questions to help me decide what I was perhaps looking for, shared the layout of the store, and then gave me time to look around. She checked in frequently, was friendly and helped me to think about what furniture in the long term would be the best investment. She was patient when I changed my mind and connected me with the finance department to consider my options for payment. The finance department was helpful in explaining all the details of what I was agreeing to and was kind and personable. I will definitely return to shop with Schewels! And, they had many precautions in place around COVID-19 which I also appreciated!

Yesterday I went in with no intentions of buying anything, just to look around. I ended up purchasing a new bed entirely! The frame and mattress set for all under $1,000! I’m so happy with my purchase and can’t wait for it to be delivered to me.
We worked with Jackie and she was awesome! She was helpful when we needed her but knew how to be a good sales person. She let us look while letting us shop and enjoy our experience. We changed our minds midway through the purchase after sitting in something that we hadn’t even considered. She never even blinked. Just went with the flow. We are really enjoying our new furniture and would definitely shop here again.
The sales tactics feel a bit shady. Almost like a used car salesman.They said they were “required” to add insurance to the sales form but that they could just to cross it out and we wouldn’t get charged. The sales person then immediately changed subject to start filling out another part of the form. Then the salesperson didn’t cross out insurance.We then went to check out and I waited to say something because I wanted to see if the check out person would confirm the charges. They confirmed all the details about the piece we were buying but they just skipped over it and then started to add to the total before I stopped them.They a) seemed annoyed and then b) Had us us sign and acknowledge that we didn’t want it.Just all felt like they were forcing us to get furniture insurance. This has never happened at Haverty’s.
These folks have been a delight with whom to buy furniture. From the showroom to delivery Ive enjoyed working with them. Their delivery teams are the kindest with whom Ive ever worked. Their back office employees are kind and eager to please.

The mattress I had purchased 4 years ago had gotten dips in it I contacted schewels they scheduled an inspection of the mattress shortly there after I got a call to come in to the store to pick another one out I chose one and it was deliverd and installed and the old one taken away at no charge this is nice to see a company stand behind their product warranty and the customer service was great I would highly recommend schewels furniture for your household furniture needs and a special thank you to Melissa at schewels of Charlottesville thank you for all your help
I order Furniture from this place on April of 2020...they deliver some of my purchase but every time they deliver they damage my walls or floors but they pay to fix it.I’m disappointed only in one they which they deliver my mirror 4 time every time it came broken it had been 4 months now...I hope store manager can look into this...I feel like delivery manager needs to inspect their stuff before they send out for deliver...this is really bad Customer services...
I bought furniture about 6 months ago and one of the recliners came damaged. The driver made note of it and told us that they either will replace it or fix, still waiting. They either say waiting on parts or no one helps us. Terrible way to do business, worst shopping experience my wife and I have had.

They told me my order would be here at a certain date, called them day twice different days to make sure they were delivering on that date and they said yes. Day of delivery they called and said it’ll be a week later to deliver because they never had gotten my shipment. I also gave them the correct # to call and they used a different # to call me when they called my mother instead when my items were supposed to be a surprise for my mother. Then Cindy or Cynthia said she’ll take the delivery fee off my payment when I finished paying it all off.. smh they could do way better
Samantha, EB, and Bethany were all amazing and super helpful in helping me get a wonderful couch. They bent over backwards to make things happen as I had company coming and needed to have the couch prior to their arrival. Their customer service deserves more than 5 stars!

My experience was good. I did not need a large or fancy washing machine. The Rep. searched until he found one that hes having special delivered.
Buyer beware! I will never deal with this store again. Bought 2 beds back in may. 1 was a special order 6-8 weeks to get. Was told 2 weeks ago it was in n ready for delivery. Added 2 box springs n a mattress to order. Delivery came at 4PM yesturday . Mattress n box spring were brought in house after removing old ones n the frame to put them on. Then was asked if they were laying the new ones on the floor only to find that the special order bed was not on truck n told its on back order.Brought old frame back in to put mattresses on.Then brought other box spring in n headboard n footboard in for other bed that was not a special order n was told they could not put that bed together because the rails were on back order.Manager called as I wanted everything gone n order completely err fly canceled. He told me that the special order bed was in warehouse so he didnt understand why it was not on truck. Waved deliveryvfees n had someone coming from warehouse at 5:30 to bring that whole bed. Never showed up till 8PM last night. Put that bed up n ripped bottom of brand new box spring in the process. After he left I realized it was the right bed but wrong color. Should have been black n got a bronze color n 1 bar on footboard is dented n bent. Brought a temporary frame to put mattresses on second bed but still wont have rails for the whole bed to be put up till Friday. Never shop here!

We talked to a very knowledgeable sales lady, she showed us the washing machines and made a recommendation on what we were looking for, we decided on the speed queen. The one on the floor had a dent in the front and we asked how much would they knock off for the dent, she said they wouldn’t let that one go off the floor, so we financed and were told we could pick up the next day. We get there and they try to give us the dented one, I told them the sales lady said that one wasn’t to be sold off the floor, the guy tried to say he could take off the 100 warranty but then we wouldn’t have the warranty if we took that one, we were like no we want the warranty especially with a dented possibly damaged machine. Like wow. So then he said they have one in Culpeper and suggested we drive to Culpeper to pick it up, wow again. So then he said they would pick it up Monday morning and we could get it later that evening. Not professional, not very professional at all. We were planning on purchasing more items after we paid for this item. But after this ordeal we will probably purchase elsewhere.

I have been buying furniture for YEARS at Schewels. I usually love them. However, this time my daughter made her very first furniture purchase on her own. It has been nothing but problems. The initial transition and purchase went smoothly. The salesperson (Jackie) is great! When I went to pick up the bedroom set, one piece was missing. I was told that it had to be ordered and would be here the NEXT week. My daughter took off from work early the next Thursday to go pick it up and we called to verify it was there and they had NO record of it ever being ordered. They apologized and told us it would be here Tuesday and offered to deliver it at no charge. However, we all work and it is not convenient. I told them I would pick it up on Thursday. I just called to let them know I was coming over on my lunch break and guess what? Its not there!!! I have to admit this is getting very frustrating.........
Very happy with the associate who helped me. Not happy that I was not informed that the recliner was on back order and would not be in till April. Do love the bed. Delivery was on time, but ended up stuck in my driveway for over an hour.
