Horrible customer service. I made an appointment to have a washer/dryer combo diagnosed. They charged me $100 just to show up. The tech did NOTHING but confirm that it wasnt working. Didnt pull out so much as a screwdriver, was there less than 5 minutes. Left a list of functioning parts that may or may not have been the problem that I could have googled myself. I went by the office and was very reasonable explaining my concerns. The gentleman I spoke with was very condescending and acted like I was wasting his time. He took my number and said Id get a call either from him or the tech who came out. I never heard back from them. They basically stole my money. I had bought appliances there before and always recommended them because I believe in supporting local businesses. That ends today. Ill go out of my way to tell anyone that they are a shoddy business who doesnt deserve the support of the community.

Do not use. Expensive, inefficient. Technician was nice and competent, but what should have been a quick, average cost repair was drawn out and very expensive.Specifics: Requested service to replace a burner or switch for front left burner of Kenmore dropin range; provided model #. Tech shows up w/o parts, determines burner is not working, charges $120 which I thought must be partial payment to get burner. Returns 2 days later charges $166 for burner, another $100 for call/labor.. whole job would have been cheaper if they had done what I requested and thought they agreed to for first service call.

My 3 year old dishwasher was giving an error code so I thought I would give them a try. I called them up and told them the model number and error code. The technician came by, looked at it for 10 minutes, told me the error code I had already given them and said I needed a new dishwasher. He then charged my $120 dollars for the 10 minute service call, but it could be applied if I bought a new dishwasher from them. Seemed almost like a scam. Will not use again.

Scheduled a repair service for a gas stove for Thursday between 10am-1pm. Receive a call on Wednesday morning at 8am stating the repair guy would be out at 1pm to look at our GE oven. Our oven is another brand which was relayed when scheduling the appointment. Wife waits all day on Wednesday and no one ever calls or shows up. We called them and asked what happened and the response is they didnt know. Needless to say, we are finding someone else..

My dehumidifier was leaking, and since it was expensive, I decided it was worth fixing. Davis’ people were up front and explained that regardless of whether they could repair it, I’d have to pay $65 for labor, and they don’t generally repair humidifiers. Knew it was a gamble, but I didn’t expect it to be returned in worse condition than it arrived. Before I just ran it in a boot tray and emptied the runoff occasionally. The machine they returned is now so noisy it can’t be used indoors, and it still leaks. I let them know, but their basic position was “oh well.” I think they’re probably knowledgeable and often deliver, but not in this case, and the response was disappointing.

I was surprised to read some of the comments for this business because we had a wonderful experience. I called on Monday because our dryer was not working correctly and they were able to get me an appointment the following morning. Although the technician was running a few minutes late, he called to let me know. He also carefully explained what he did to fix our dryer. I would use this company again.

Do not use this company. I have lived in Charlottesville for 30 years and this company has the worst service I have experienced. I had a simple appliance issue and needed an ice maker fixed. They misdiagnosed the problem, made four trips to my house, finally fixed it but charged me for a part I didn’t actually need and an arbitrary ‘trip charge’ that was 45% of the total bill. After almost two months of trying to resolve the bill and repeated requests to talk to the manager there was no adjustment on the bill and the manager refused to call. They don’t care about the customer experience and their repairman is not good.

Called on a Friday before Noon with emergency repair need - gas burner stuck in on position with open flame. Absolutely no attempt to help - told the earliest anyone could come would be the following Tuesday. Looking for new appliances - will not go to Davis Appliance

Very disappointed! Bought a gas range for my husbands mom and dad in 2017. This was a big mistake, supposedly the computer board went bad. The cost to fix it $475. You can buy a new one for that. The gentleman that serviced it today was rude and acted like he didnt want to be bother. I understand that it the holidays but customer service should come first.

Absolutely the worst. Service appointment scheduled 830am midweek- (I of course took off from work) no call, no show. When I called to find out what happened, The Flu Fairy took out most all staff. Mentioned it was not in their best interest not to inform clients the eve before- or morning of... but nonetheless rescheduled for following week - same day, same time. Again, no call, no show. When I called at 930am to find out what happened again, the person that answered the phone said most staff was out due to significant snowfall (3 inches) and the roads were terrible (no they werent) Lame excuse not to call again. When I said I wanted to cancel for good, the man on the phone told me to call back when the secretary was in - AND THEN ABRUPTLY HUNG UP ON ME. Thanks for costing me 6 hours of work pay! Not sure how they stay in business. Stay far away, Cvillians. I sure will. And I will tell EVERYONE I KNOW.

They were very prompt to the appointment. Actually they got there before me! I was delayed getting out of the class and they were very gracious about it. They fixed my microwave easy peasy and answered the random questions I had about proper appliance care. Ive been battling mildew in my washer for ages and he had some really helpful tips. Wonderful company.

I will never use Davis appliance again, their customer service is poor to say the least, I would even call it abysmal. My opinion of their company comes from multiple poor experiences. They do not seem to have the ability to effectively fix anything effectively. It would be normal for someone to have a weakness and excel at something else. However, I have had them first service my Dryer then my Refrigerator. In the case of the drier they came out and looked at it and claimed it needed parts. They ordered said part, took several days and then came back to install it. During the second call they found that a foreign object had made its way between the drums. They charged us twice for their incompetence. Second time they came to work on my refrigerator because my Freezer was working but my refrigerator was not. They said the refrigerator needed a timer part that would allow the refrigerator to cool again. The said it would take a day or two for the part to arrive. They promised me that they would come out as soon as the part arrived. I received notification on a Wednesday that the part was there, I was then told that they could not come and install it until the following Monday. At this point I reminded them that I had no refrigeration in my home and had already been out for over a week. And asked if there was any way they could move up the appointment. I was told no. I then decided to pick up the $10 part and figure out how to install it myself, which I believe I did correctly per instructions I found online. Since I replaced the part the refrigerator cools but is not nearly as cold as it should be. And my freezer seems to be constantly keeping an inch to inch and a half of snow in it. Which I cannot clear. I am reaching out to other repair shops, hoping I can find someone to fix what Davis blundered.Another point of frustration is they require you to provide Make, Model and serial number before they will come out. On my first visit I figured oh good, they are going to come prepared with parts they think they will need to handle it in one call. NOPE! Regardless of whether they have the required information or not they always have to make two service calls. In the case of the drier repair, they instructed me on the phone to take apart half of the machine to look for foreign objects. (BEFORE THEY WOULD COME OUT). I told them flat out that I was not a repair man and I would not do that. If I had the skills to do that I would not need their assistance.Trust me, you are better off trying to fix it yourself, I have never met a more incompetent group of people in my entire life.

I’ve used them for two repairs and both times they quickly fixes the issue. They made sure to get the exact model number from me on the phone before coming out. This way they had the likely parts needed when they showed up and could fix the problem on the first visit. First repair was for a dishwasher and second was a gas cook top. Both repairs were about $125 including parts. I’d definitely use them again for future repair needs.

Avoid this company. Company regularly gouges customers. Went to buy a lid switch for my washer, the part was listed for $8 online. This company wanted $43. At some point companies have to realize that they cannot overprice inventory like this.

While I did not receive service from these folks, apparently my neighbor did. The shortest distance to the back of their townhouse was through my personal property (end unit townhouse)- down my sidewalk, through my side yard, back yard and back again with the old unit which they left in the public parking space in front of my house. I would have appreciated a knock on the door to ask if they could trespass- and I would have warned them that my lilac bush is currently being used for nectar by 1.5 European hornets. Im glad they were not attacked (as I made note to them they were being followed as they returned through my yard with the old unit) Also, the technicians seriously need a new appliance dolly to handle their appliances- tiny tires dont work well through grass!

You really have to understand how these types of businesses operate before you complain that the tech was late... they schedule him for what they think he can handle in a day -- but its impossible to predict. Some repairs go faster and others can take twice as long as they think. And you can imagine some of the stuff they must see... dryers that double as litter boxes,... Ive heard the stories. If you NEED to take the day off and KNOW when they will arrive, schedule for a day where you can be first call. These guys do great work and Ive used them about 8 times in 14 years.

I have had the same problem as many other reviewers wherein the technician is running late. When I made my first appt I was very clear about the window that I would be home, which was around 6 hours long and no one showed up in that time. The 2nd appt they were prompt. The 3rd appt, to actually do the work I made to be the first stop of the day but 2 hours later and no one is here yet. Clearly I was not the first stop of the day even though the person on the phone told me I was. The problem is, there isnt many other people to call so this business doesnt have to worry about timeliness. Everyone I have talked to has been very nice and polite, but I am very disappointed in the scheduling.

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE!My call to Davis Appliance was answered by Tom, who could not have been more helpful.When I described the problem with my dishwasher, Tom was able to identify the part needed (from my description, and the Model #), and assured me that he would get the part and schedule an installation of the part as soon as it arrived. He also was willing to work around my daughters work schedule in setting up the appointment.

They repair & sell appliances. Very helpful, knowledgable staff. Today the glass inside our OVEN door cracked and i brought the entire door to them. I took a picture of the serial & model number. They got the replacement GLASS and fixed it for us. By bringing the oven door to them i didnt have to schedule nor pay for a tech to drive to our home.Over the last 20 yrs they have repaired all our appliances. I believe in repairing appliances whenever possible instead of buying a new one and so does Davis Appliance. Support local so they will be here when you need them. They are on E. High Street betw Pantops and Meade Park so not far from downtown but easy to drive past.

I set up a service appointment a week in advance specifically so that I could arrange it on my day off. After waiting 4 hours, no one showed up. When I called the office, I was told by the gentleman who answered the phone, the women in the office dont always give me the message. WOW. No apology. No sorry for the inconvenience. No nothing. My initial morning service call began at 12:30 pm. I called their office at 10:30 and was told that they had no way to get ahold of the technician. The guy couldnt help it as his first call took longer than he thought, but no one bothered to call me. Because of the delay, I had to reschedule a meeting.When the part came in (which I had to follow up on as no one called me), I asked to be the first call of the morning when they returned to install the part. I called at 9 as no one had even called yet and was told that the service guy had not even come in yet. In addition, the receptionist was very rude- could not care less that I am missing work. I understand that things are not always predictable, but please communicate better with your customers. I will find a new appliance repair company that is more considerate of my time.

Wow. Thats all I can say. I booked an appointment for a technician to come repair refrigerator a week and a half ago. Arrival time was to be between 930 and 10am. When 10 oclock arrived and I hadnt received a phone call letting me know he was on the way (which I was told would happen) or anything, I called Davis appliance. The man that answered told me the technician Cecil was not in yet quite frankly, he didnt know when he was going to be in or if he would be in at all due to the RAIN. Are you kidding me?!? So I said why didnt someone call and let me know this and the man was defensive and made excuse after excuse saying he doesnt even know if his employees coming in so how can he call me. I said your employee not call his employer and let you know he when he will be in?? and he just continued to make excuses. It was totally bizarre. I said to him I do not understand.. and he cut me off and said well try to understand. Theres no reason why someone could not of called me and told me the technician will not be here at said time. It was among the weirdest and most unprofessional experience I have had in a while. Too bad Gordon Ramsey only saves failing restaurants... this place needs help.
