Stopped in here to grab breakfast and take a meeting before flying home. Amazing double espresso and the best croissant Ive had here in the states, easily. Great staff, real coffee, great food. I wish I lived there just to go back again tomorrow
Perfect breakfast place. Stop by for a coffee and some pastries. They also do cakes if your interested in those. The food is delicious, you can tell that there is time and effort being put into what they make. If you come down later in the day, its really quiet so its if your a peaceful person, that time would be great. Location is pretty good too, considering the main ballentyne business centers are not too far from here. Definitely stop by.
Food is always good but the coffee is different every time.. i order the same latte but it never has the same taste or texture.
They have delicious vegan, gluten free bakery options. The coffee is great; they use Counter Culture beans. I always receive friendly service here!
Great spot in south Charlotte (ballentyne) for breakfast or lunch. Top notch coffee with a. Great selection of baked goods including muffins, scones (lemon rosemary is great!) and Eclairs. Skip the line at Starbucks and head over here. They also have two for one day old muffins and scones. Super clean bathrooms. A must try. A+
Great food & employees. Anahita & Huda ate sooooo nice. Apologize if I misspelled your names.
Stopped by to get a treat for kids after a doctors appointment. Very cute space and loved the tall ceilings. We got the raspberry eclair (a bit too chilled and wish not so much glaze on pastry portion) and pumpkin/apple muffin (but dry). They were fine but nothing amazing to bring us back. I will have to return to try breakfast or lunch and a coffee selection. One negative (which I don’t believe is viable to change) is while eating we saw the restaurant across the way pulling catering pans from a van and just hosing them down and leaving on the ground beside the restaurants trash cans. Just not a scene you want to view while eating: trash bags and cans and pans being rinsed with hose.
Great vibe! Love the decor! Vegan options! Awesome coffee. Employee was super nice.
Great experience here the two times I’ve been so far! Nice staff, yummy coffee, and the Avocado Melt is delicious, which is a spinach, goat cheese, roasted tomato, walnut pesto and avocado panini. It’s so good. I also got an iced vanilla oat milk latte. Highly recommend trying this place!
Not impressed at all. The prices are extremely high for very basic food
Nice place, there are several tables inside and there is an opportunity to sit at tables outside. The service is fast and friendly. I liked the fact that many delicacies are baked there themselves. Pleasant aroma of pastries with a light touch of coffee.
First time here, came as a party of two. As most cafes you order pay and then seat yourself. I ordered an orange blossom tea and they iced it for me. The second half of my party ordered herself an iced dirty chai. The drinks were perfect! To go we ordered a chocolate peanut butter cupcake and an individual key lime pie. The place is pleasant and the person who took our order was nice, didnt rush us, and helpful! Thank you. I will be back for sure.
Healthy food choices. The queue was long. The menu on the internet was slightly different
Sunflour Baking is a phenomenal spot to pop into! They have an array of delicious sandwiches, bakery items, and a wide variety of your coffee needs. We had the scrumptious cheddar biscuits as breakfast sandwiches and they were amazing! Highly recommend that as your bread choice! The staff was incredibly kind and welcomed us to the area in the best way! Defintely recommend coming here, so many things to try we will make this a weekly stop!
Everything is alwaya amazing at Sunflour bakery. Must try!
So I ordered a cake about 2 weeks in advance, vegan vanilla cake with vanilla frosting (my sons is allergic to milk and eggs). I asked if they did kids designs, I was looking for a PJ masks cake. They said sure and sent me a picture example of the cake they would make. When the time cake to pick up the cake....it barely looked ANYTHING like the example they sent to us. We paid $45 for a tiny 6” cake with added decorations that looked like it wasn’t worth even $20!! And that’s not even mentioning the fact that the inside actual cake was UNDERCOOKED and super dense and mushy (see picture). Here is the example they showed us and then pictures of the cake we picked up.....two stars only because they offer vegan cakes and the staff was friendly.....
I ordered a gluten free raspberry cake for my daughters birthday, hoping it would be amazing. Unfortunately it was awful, we ended up tossing the cake. Biggest waste of $50.00. Stay away from their gluten free menu.
Discovered this place by accident to be honest.. but I can say one thing - they have great coffee and amazing pastries! A must try for sure, be it for coffee paired with a delicious pastry or a more substantial meal.
Had Vanilla Bean Cupcake with Vanilla Frosting and Vanilla Cupcake with Chocolate frosting- their cupcakes are wonderfully balanced. All the components of a good cupcake: Excellent frosting to cake ratio, Not to sweet, Not to fluffy, not dry at all-but not overly moist and flavorful. To me a good cupcake leaves you able to eat another without feeling weighed down. Theyve achieved that here. Also had Iced Cinnamon Roll- one of the best Ive ever had. Again not to sweet, not dry- but not overly moist, cinnamonny, good size...this is what I cinnamon roll should be. Again...the right balance so that taking a bite is satisfying...not too much. This bakery has really impressed me! They know their craft and the science in making balanced and satisfying goods. Brava Sunflour! Brava!
I had been wanting to try this place, so when I saw a Groupon for it, I jumped on it.We went on a Saturday around 11 and it wasnt crowded at all. You order at the counter, find a table, and they bring your food out to you.We got the bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich on a cheddar biscuit, the frankly french toast (seasonal), and the black Friday panini. The french toast was my favorite. It had really good flavors. I also liked the bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich. The cheddar biscuit was my favorite part. I thought the black Friday panini was just ok.I also got a chai tea latte which was really good. It was spicy and not too sweet. My husband got a dirty chai in a cone. He was not a fan. He thought the cone made the portions off. You also pay more for the cone but get less drink.I think this cafe is worth checking out!
Just tried to order ONE breakfast sandwich and they told me it would be 25-30 minute wait for ONE sandwich because a to go order was just called in. Meanwhile two people in back decorating cupcakes. Not appropriately staffed then. Will not return.
Bakery goods look tempting. Employees are nice and the interior is clean and you can see the kitchen and the people working.
Great coffee and panini today. Will be coming back for some baked goods!
Muffins & latte was great but the employee… she was not nice lol.
It takes 30 minutes to get a sandwich and a breakfast burrito. This wasnt an isolated incident. Every single time I go its at least 20 minutes waiting for a sandwich.
Cute coffee shop and atmosphere. Yummy pastries too
I have to say that I do not recommend this store. I have a friend who is gluten free and I needed 20 cupcakes for her baby shower. I called 2 days ahead and ordered. First the person that was one the phone had no idea what the flavors were that were available. I will note I will take ownership that I did not ask how Much the order would be, but the price was not discussed. I figured it would more expensive than traditional cupcakes but goodness 20 cups were $87!! $3.50 per cupcake. A vanilla and/ or chocolate cupcake with pink frosting, nothing fancy!! If I had known I would have ordered 2 for the mom and then gone to Publix and gotten the other 18 for the same price as the 2? I don’t get it. My husband said “ put the gluten back in for that price” also it’s not like they were any bigger than a food lion/ Harris teeter cupcake. This was my first time getting anything here, so not impressed. Not to mention they were running so far behind I had to wait in line just to pick up the preordered cupcakes. The person on the register had no idea what she was doing and they were running out of things for other people who were waiting. So many people waiting on food. Again my first impression was NOPE!!
How does a bakery not have eggs on a Sunday morning at 9am? Not exactly an ingredient that cannot be picked up at any local supermarket. This is obviously an extremely poorly managed location which leads to overall poor customer service.
Enjoyed the same great quality food we have had at the Harrisburg location. Cinnamon buns are still my go-to.
Great service and food especially muffins and breakfast sandwiches.
Cozy atmosphere with fresh baked pastries. Lovely place to meet a friend for coffee!
Convenient for me, always great and clean. My go to place on the weekends
This place is so cute! The scones are amazing and I love the coffee! The service is always so fast! Great place to stop in for breakfast!
Enjoyed a great avocado panini and grilled cheese panini followed by a few homemade cookies! Delish!
So, first off, let me say that we love SBC. However, the ballantyne location is horrific. DO NOT GO!!! Not only are they severely understaffed, but they are very unprepared for their customer volume. We placed an order on Saturday morning via their mobile app, and we waiting for our time to get our food. Good thing we walked in and checked in on the order because they had cancelled our order without even telling us bc they ran out of eggs!!! How is that even possible? Prepare better.Secondly, when I was giving the young girl a bit of customer feedback on having a better system of letting customers know if their orders had been cancelled (we received no notification whatsoever) - she was EXTREMELY unprofessional rude, and passive aggressive. At that point, I was stunned how she had spoken to me. Not only did she blame ME, the customer, but she couldn’t just do the right thing in a customer service role and apologize for the delay and poor service. She copped an attitude and became very passive aggressive. So, not only are they losing our business, but I am writing this google review to allow others to have a piece of helpful info before ordering from them.Sunflour Baking Company - choose your employees carefully and wisely. If you do not instruct them on the proper ways to diffuse situations with customers, then they should not be dealing with them. If you teach them and they still do not adhere, then they should not be employed. It’s as simple as that. I have over 15+ years in customer service and today I was completely and utterly amazed at how this girl spoke to me.
The morning glory muffin is delicious! If you havent tried it, you definately should.
Ordered a breakfast sandwich then waited 30 minutes. Asked about my order then waited another 15 minutes. Sandwich finally comes out and I mentioned it took 45 minutes. I got “oh” from the server. I understand that they may have to-go orders, but you can’t make a quick sandwich for the guy sitting there for a half hour?
Great assortment of vegan muffins. My go to is the Chocolate Chip and Banana muffin.
Im gonna comment on their croissants. Several years ago my wife and I tried their croissants and at the time we decided these are the greatest croissants wed EVER eaten... ANYWHERE! Since then we pretty much try croissants at every bakery we can find to see if there is an equal or better croissant. Were happy to announce that after 5 years of trying, Sunflour Bakery is STILL the number one croissant weve ever eaten. There are only two other runner-ups at a place called Mocco Bistro and a place called Crema, both in Charlotte. Interestingly, many of the other things we try at Sunflour are only meh and almost EVERYTHING we have at Crema is perfect so bear that in mind. As for croissants Sunflour is the BEST
Great little place to have lunch with a friend, good food.
We love the muffins and breakfast sandwiches.
I want to give a huge shoutout to Stacey for always providing excellent service every time I’ve been there to pickup or dining in. I love the atmosphere and quality of food and drinks. I highly recommend stopping by if you are looking for something delicious or refreshing.
Excellent croissants and breakfast sandwiches. Nice selection of baked goods.
Best customer service ever.
Wonderful and welcoming staff and lovely coffee - and for those who are taking coffees to go, these lids, cups, stoppers are magical! I had two of four cups flip over onto the top when I took a turn too quickly and only a few drops spilled in the few minutes it took to be able to flip them right side up. Im still shocked and so thankful!
I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of gluten free bakery items. I was tempted by the individual GF key lime pie and GF cheesecake, but I got a delicious pumpkin cranberry muffin with a drip coffee. The customer service was excellent as well. My friend got a cookie and a mocha latte that she enjoyed as well.
The almond croissant is amazing!!! Also love the biscuit that the bacon, egg, and cheese comes on though Ive yet to get actually crispy bacon despite my requests. This is our familys favorite local breakfast place.
Ordered a birthday cake for my wife. They were extremely helpful. Great follow up. The cake tasted fantastic (we got the triple chocolate). It wasn’t too “fluffy”. Instead, it was very dense and rich. I will definitely order my next cake from here!
The best food and coffee. Super cute.
Fantastic food and drinks and a peaceful bright atmosphere in the heart of ballantyne. Highly recommend.
The pastries and coffee here is amazing. You can tell that they use a good quality coffee. The breakfast sandwich and paninis are probably the biggest hidden gem. I ended up going to this place 3 times in a week trying different items because we were so pleased with the products and the customer service.
Best morning glory muffin Ive ever tasted.
Lovely little bakery and coffee shop that offers a wide range of food options too! I love the decor and atmosphere of this little place. I had a great coffee and chat with a business networking connection here. The iced latte with mocha flavor was outstanding and the morning glory muffin was crispy on the top and so moist and perfectly cooked and flavorful! Id definitely recommend for anyone in the area to meet or have a nice cup of coffee for a break from the world.
One of the few spots in Charlotte I’ve found to make a solid cappuccino. Great little hidden spot with really kind employees. Look forward to coming back!!
Great first impression! Beautiful pastries and muffin display. Clean establishment, and everything tastes great!
I have door dashed from here several times - the food is outstanding. The best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had! 10/10
Don’t let wait staff keep tips.
No surprise the place was empty on Saturday @ lunch time. The eggs cheddar avocado was the worst food Ive had in a long time.I feel sick after the so called egg...The expresso could not drink, the sour taste mustve been from a unclean machine or bad coffee.Just an awful place, I dont think will ever go back...
Second time here for a relaxing Sunday breakfast croissant sandwich and french press coffee both of which are sublime and wondering why I’m not coming to this place every day—friendly service and unpretentious atmosphere. Worth checking out especially during the post church service crush when every other place is slammed. Our sandwiches arrived in under ten minutes—and so amazingly delish.
Cashier had limited knowledge of the menu and items. Came in and asked what the soup of the day was. She had to ask the manager if they even had soup, which they do not. Ordered the avocado melt, out of avocados. I asked for an additional veggie to be put on my sandwich and she was extremely confused. We asked if the ham was country ham, or sweet ham. She said I dont know, I havent tried the ham. And stood there, dumbfounded. We said anyone you can ask? She proceeded to ask the kitchen, has anyone tried the ham?!. They had to read the package it came in, to let us know it was a boars Head honey ham. Asked for the a different sandwich on a cheddar biscuit. They say they are out of cheddar biscuits. The cook chimes in and says they just came out of the oven. We heard them tell multiple people on the phone and in store they were out, even after the fact. Bakery shelves basically empty. We were excited to come here. Poor experience.Ps. no soap in the mens room.Water jug unfilled.
I usually love Sunflour and their Dilworth location is great, but I have a couple complaints with this location. They rarely open on time, which is annoying when you’re trying to stop there before work. Sometimes they open up to 30 minutes late. Also, their muffins are almost always undercooked and gooey inside (completely raw at times), which is a health hazard. Every single time I’ve ordered the Morning Glory muffin it’s been raw inside, which is sad because it’s my favorite. If they could fix these two things, I’d be there all the time.
The food was delicious. The service was great. Reasonably priced.
They have great weekend bakery sandwiches.
All around best breakfast and dessert place recommend to anybody who’s looking for fresh baked items - croissants, cupcakes and biscuits. Great friendly staff !coffee is fresh
Great food and drinks, great atmosphere only problem try to avoid busy times
Two words. Cheddar biscuits. Three more. Morning glory muffins. Ask them to make you a caramel latte with their house made caramel. Youre set. I really havent had anything bad here. Staff is always super nice and place is always clean. Love their reward system. Always end up getting something extra with my points.
Good place to grab breakfast.
Cheddar biscuits are the best for any breakfast sandwich.
The cinnamon bun was absolutely fantastic!!! The real deal all the way!!! I also had the bacon, egg, and cheddar on their homemade biscuit bread. It was fantastic! I had an excellent breakfast today!!!
Fresh, fresh, fresh worth the wait food is prepared fresh croissants are amazing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Delicious offerings! Morning Glory muffin is my favorite!
Fabulous bakery for sweets and savory snacks and breakfast sandwiches all day! Love the bacon & eggs and cheese on a croissant! Their cinnamon rolls are incredible! And their cookies and pastries are delicious!!
My brokers loved the treats I brought in from here. The staff was friendly and quick. Lots of choices to choose from.
They have the BEST Almond Croissants! Theyre flaky, buttery, and delicious. I like Sunflour menu and the staff at the Ballantyne location. There is so many items I would recommend on their menu from the cheese biscuits to the key lime pie. This is a great place to eat with great pastries!
I ordered a tiramisu 2 days ago, just to try Sunflour for the first time. Tiramisu anywhere I have had it, always is prepared using alcohol. This is what gives it the distinct taste. This dessert was apparently prepared as a childs version, no alcohol. The texture was like an old overcooked cake, not the creamy, moist dessert that tiramisu is.For all that like an authentic tasting tiramisu this is not it. I havent tried other desserts here, but I may.
Line gets long quick at lunch time.Cashier seemed spacey and unfamiliar many things. They were out of soup at 12pm.There were plenty of sweets to chose from. Cupcakes were delicious. Coffee and sandwich was good as well.
They have the best chocolate croissants Ive ever eaten. They literally melt in your mouth and they are huge. Ive tried a few other pastries and they were good as well. The dirty mocha is my favorite coffee so far that Ive tried. The ladies who work here are very pleasant to deal with.
Cheddar biscuits. Croissants. Orange hazelnut roll. Cinnamon roll. Fleur de Sal Chocolate Cookie. All are my favorite things at Sunflour Bakery. Yum!
Nice quaint place tucked in the corner. Service was good, helpful. Little hot during lunch. May have been A/C issue. 2nd one that day for me.
Great space, and their product came highly recommended, however I was deeply disappointed by their selection on a Sunday. More importantly, the dining and patio areas were a hot mess, and the bathrooms even worse. I even asked for a towel to wipe down my table and the girl was very sweet to say shed come do it, but showed up with a dry towel, didnt even wipe down the whole table, and didnt bother with the other surrounding tables. As a previous owner of a business, I felt the need to share...this place needs better management! No product is good enough in a dirty setting!
Just as good as the original! Get the cheddar biscuit or the rosemary bread.
Best-tasting vegan foods. Several visually appealing vegan and non-vegan items Ive seen in one place in Charlotte. Lots of variety and so many options. Vegan chocolate chip cookies are better than any chocolate chip cookies youve likely every had in your life! They should be called Best Chocolate Chip Cookies and made way more often.
Absolutely delicious place to grab breakfast, lunch, or just a quick treat! Their rosemary bread is to die for. As a plus, they even have a few vegan and gluten free options, making it a win for everyone!
My sis in law recommended this place. Since cupcake delirium is close til new years, I wanted to find somewhere else to get my cupcake fix. I was not satisfied. First of they did not have a lot of flavors like cupcake delirium did but I did try 1 cupcake first before getting a lot just to make sure it was good. The only one that I liked out of 5 cupcakes was the salted caramel chocolate cupcake one. I could tell it just came out of the oven. The coconut one and red velvet from the fridge was hard and just didnt satisfy my craving at all. It seemed like it was old. Maybe thats why it was in the fridge? I saw good reviews but maybe I just got a bad batch. It was not worth $3.25. I also didnt like that they didnt have special pricing for getting half a dozen or a dozen.
I love this place and try to stop in whenever I can. If you are a fan of cinnamon rolls, they have one of the best that Ive ever tasted...and Ive been eating cinnamon rolls for a long time. They have vegan choices, cakes, muffins, sandwiches, and more. Highly recommend.
Liked the place a lot....nice atmosphere inside....huge palm in the middle makes up for a tropical feel....loved the eclairs...not too sweet, just as I like it...nice chicken sandwich....good quality coffees....clean and cozy
Visited this spot with family over Thanksgiving. Aesthetically pleasing and the best part as a mom was the outdoor seating area so the kiddos could move around and talk while the adults sat and talked.
Nice decor, friendly staff... but I didnt get a chance to try anything. I only get to eat one sweet treat a week( per my diet) and I was DYING for a plain old chocolate cupcake. Unfortunately by 1130a on a Sunday they were completely out of plain old chocolate. I was able to get one from another local bakery, which was enough to satisfy my craving. But I was really looking for something amazing in this very precious moment.I will try again this weekend...
Was in the area and excited that I saw this location. I’ve attempted to stop in before at their other location closer to the city, but couldn’t find parking. Had a breakfast sandwich on their butter roll. It was very tasty! I wish they had ice tea that was the help yourself option and the interior seems like they skimped a bit on cost. Overall it was a great breakfast while I was in the area.
Everything Ive had has been delicious and served with a smile! They also have a few vegan options as well.
Web site boasts gluten free, but nothing is available on a daily basis. Also, staff was not knowledgable about special orders. Train your staff. I cannot wait for a manager to be on the premises. It really is a glorified coffee shop, not a bakery.
