From the modern neighborhood coffee shop vibe, to the friendly baristas and most importantly to a really good cup of coffee - Cafe Moka checks all the boxes for me. Its always fun to sit inside and take in all the nostalgia | nods to the 70s.

This is THE BEST local coffee shop I have ever been too! I literally drive to Charlotte just for a Peanut Butter Moka Frozen Latte. Each drink is crafted perfectly and NOT rushed or burnt like Starbucks. I have never been disappointed with anything I have tried here and I’ve been supporting this local business for years. The owner creates seasonal drinks that are AMAZING! I promise, it is totally worth it!

Coffee is great and Id love to choose this place over Starbucks, but service is slow! Would be great to have more than 1 person making drinks because I waited 20 minutes for an iced latte. Sending this because I want management to know that this a blocker for busy people... and is why I continue to run to Starbucks instead. Can also be hard to find parking.

I came here with my husband on a Sunday afternoon. The shop itself is very cute. What I did notice right away was an employee sitting down on the counter while on his phone (behind the register). He didn’t even look up to greet us. I’m not sure if he was on his break or not, but if he was, I don’t think it’s appropriate to sit with dirty pants on a counter where food and drinks are being served. Anyway. My husband ordered a latte and said it was mediocre - Starbucks is better. I’m not a coffee person but my husband said he wouldn’t recommend the place for the coffee. It was our first and last time going there.

Cafe Moka is the best shop in town. The owner clearly has put the time and effort in the not only develop a great menu with the most drink options I have seen in the city. There is nothing on the menu that any shop in town can do better. The prices are even cheaper than starbucks and other employees and the coffee is by far superior than any competitor.

If I could give this place more stars, I would! Their coffee is one of the best, if not the best, places in Charlotte to grab a cup. Also, their winter tea latte are AMAZING! 👏 Ive never been disappointed with how my drink came out. Constantly brewed to perfection, whatever I get! Im always recommending this place to anyone and everyone and will continue to do so. You cant go wrong here! 🤗

Im new to the area and had this shop recommended by a friend. The staff is friendly and the shop is locally owned and the owner has clearly though-out out ever detail of the atmosphere and the menu. I dont go anywhere but here when I need a pick me up from their large selection of coffee, tea, and smoothie selection. I would give 10 stars if I could.

June 2021Small place. So far, no variety in the drinks.The only sugar-free drink available is iced plain coffee. No sugar-free flavors are available. (Thank you for thinking about diabetic people or with other conditions).Its overpriced for the taste of the coffee.I dont understand what people find here.Outside was more than 90 degrees and you have 3 little tables for 2. A place with two chairs and a small couch, And a little bar beside the window.Bathrooms are locked. So you need to ask for a code from any employee. And the place was dirty and packed.My friend paid $12,99 for a small plain black coffee and a muffin. I didnt know if I was in NY or Charlotte lol.Not worthy for me and never come back. There are small much better family businesses than this chain, that have more merchandise to sell instead of coffee.

Every time I am here I have a great experience. The coffee is the best in town and the atmosphere is awesome. There is ample seating inside and out now that the COVID restriction have been lifted in Charlotte and the prices are cheaper then starbucks and other shops in the city. If you are in south Charlotte this is a must visit.

Went here on a Saturday evening for 2 expressos and sadly to say they were horrible. Had to throw them out. Inexperienced batista. More like a playground for them. Its sad, it could be so much better! Never again, I was embarrassed to bring my guest there.

I love this place. The drinks are so tasty and the atmosphere is great. My favorite is the Peanut butter moka frozen latte but I can say they have something for everyone. My wife is not a big coffee drinker but every time we go she finds something new to like. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations if you can’t decide.

Absolutely pathetic service and a very arrogant staff,blue berry muffin had green fungus on it,they did not replace it nor refunded the money,just not worth visiting.

Cafe Moka in Waverly is such a cute, small, very cozy, and aesthetically pleasing coffee shop. It has some great small town vibes and not to mention that the baristas really know their stuff. I asked many questions when I went because I wanted to know about what they served and everyone that I talked to was so nice and very ready to answer my questions. This place was the perfect pick me up in the middle of the day and can definitely be a place where you can hang out with friends or just visit by yourself. I really recommend trying this place out, you will not be disappointed!

I absolutely adore Cafe Moka. Been coming here since it has opened. Great people, vibes, and coffee. The owner is such a gem. I am so glad that they made it through the pandemic/shutdown and have continued to provide a great atmosphere and quality coffee / products. It is my go-to coffee place, and I’m very fortunate (as a resident in Waverly) to have a beautiful hole-in-the-wall coffee shop to spend quality time in. If you haven’t been here, try any of their frozen drinks!! So good... My staples are also the iced lavender latte (with oat milk), and the blackberry coffee lemonade during the summer. Absolutely TO DIE FOR!! Thank you Moka crew for all you guys are to this community!

The staff behind the counter had an unfriendly, rude attitude. She rushed me to order (the place wasnt busy then) and didnt offer to explain some of the different coffees on the menu when I clearly needed some help - overall poor customer service. The experience left a bad taste. The coffee was average, made without care and served at room temperature. No social distancing as well. Used to be a nice friendly place. Not anymore.

Terrible customer service, 2 bad experiences unrelated to coffee:Walked in one morning, was ignored by the lady at the counter.Tried again another morning. The guy saw me and walked away into the back room, ignoring me.Not sure if this was racially motivated or because I was wearing a mask, but I warn everyone I know not to come here. 1 star is generous.

Horrible experience. cappuccino had espresso shots and weak foam and no milk. When asked for a little bit off milk she said can not give you anymore. She said if I give you more milk then Ill have to give every one more. I never had such strong cappuccino in my life, if I wanted just espresso shot I would have ordered it.

Service is key for my experience. Twice I have been to this place and I have not been impressed by the customer service. Also, find it extremely annoying to have a set of rules of dos and donts set on each table. As for the coffee, its not bad but aint the best.

Ive been wanting to try this place for a couple of weeks and finally stepped in. Its a little shop, but it was very comfortable and it looked pretty popular. I appreciate that mask wearing and social distancing is left up to individuals, because adult customers and shop owners should be free to make up their own minds on that.I normally go for black coffee or americano, but the mokato caught my eye. It was amazing! Subtly sweet (I dont like overly sweet drinks) and a pleasant combination of flavors. I will be back!

This place reminds me of a coffeehouse in San Francisco. You can tell these guys are serious about their coffee. I got an Americano with a double shot. It was full bodied with great flavor. Definitely a cool hang out. I love the interior. My only suggestion would be to turn the music up a little bit. It was very quiet the afternoon I was there and you could almost hear conversations from across the room.

Great service, the coffee quality surpasses any coffee chain. There is a constant flow of all kinds of people who come for their treat. Will definitely be back.

This place has okay coffee but the lady at the front (either the manager or the owner) is rude every single time I go there. EVERYONE was wearing their mask BELOW their nose; even the people making the coffee.There is also a sign on the door that says people on the staff have a ‘medical condition’ that prevents them from wearing masks (interesting as it’s been proven that masks don’t hinder a person’s oxygen or carbon dioxide levels, even people lung disease and asthma) but whatever. This aside:As our country sets daily death toll records and health care professionals suffer with overcrowding ICUs, I REFUSE to support businesses that can’t do the absolute minimum to protect its customers. Wear. A. Mask.

Rude staff, service subpar and coffee almost never good. Smoothies are very run down.3 stars are for them not enforcing masking and social distancing and letting people choose for themselves. Kudos to that.

Really hot man working at the counter, very friendly smile as well. I believe his name is Landon Basham he’s just such a people person all the customers come to see him. Same thing for a man named Addison that works there. I always enjoy the days I come by and chatter with the friendly local staff.

Went today for a autumn tea latte. The girl working the register (dark hair/ dark complexion) had such an attitude. Even my friend agreed that was with me when we ordered. She was not aware of the latte specials without having to read it off the screen and every question I had about the menu she acted clearly annoyed I was asking questions. I would really consider having someone that is better at customer service and being friendly to people work your register. It was a great latte! But the customer service doesn’t make me want to return.

As a college age, self employed coffee lover im always looking for new coffee shops to spend endless hours huddled in a corner. The moment I heard Moka was opening I was so excited and have loved it ever since! With the calm atmosphere, open environment and even better coffee (I have yet to try everything) I cant help but invite new friends and spend every chance I get at Cafe Moka. You definitely need to come!

I just moved to the providence area and I hate Starbucks and am tired of going to Dunkin and it’s always a hit or miss with them, so I was looking for a good coffee place and came across this establishment, long story short, I am not disappointed. The frozen caramel latte is delicious! I will be taking my mom on my next trip there as we are serious coffee drinkers. Really glad I found a great coffee joint close to my home that isn’t over priced.

Inconsistent coffee preparation every single time, in some instances completely undrinkable. Ordered a cappuccino this week and literally poured it out after taking a sip outside. Have been here 3-4 times and likely wont return. Staff attitude, as well as a complete lack of social distancing and non-compliance with mask laws are also abhorrent.

Public Safety Etiquette: not so much.If you are going to be one of the only establishments that posts a claim that you have medical issues that cause mask wearing to be unsafe for your employees (really? Your multiple employees all cant wear a mask?) - you could at least make it somewhat safer for immunocompromised customers to pick up their orders. Often, you have a gaggle of unmasked customers standing right beside where pick up is.Not to mention, no social distancing, etc. If we have to go back into lockdown, it will be because of companies like this refusing even basic care for their customers.I have literally been into no other local shop that so carelessly disregards public safety so thoroughly as Cafe Moka.

Okay okay... A lot could be said about the shop itself. The baristas are helpful, its a warm environment and a great place to relax at. Now about the coffee. This is where its at. Im a really big fan of a traditional mexican mocha and have traveled the country trying them at all the local shops Ive been to. Cafe Moka sticks out and hands down has the best Ive ever had. I love this place and their coffee, but today on my visit the person making the coffees was not wearing a mask. I found this a but concerning. However, most of my experiences here have been good and most of their staff is very attentive and sweet. Today was the exception.

Only come here because it’s the only cafe aroundPoor service, limited milk options and nothing sugar free. Employees always have negative attitudes and not welcoming.

Best iced caramel latte Ive had recently. Coffees and hot lattes are also rich and smooth with a sweet aftertaste. Place has a good selection of flavors as well. Never disappointed when I go.

Place is packed, no social distancing in the cafe at all. The baristas behind the bar are either not wearing a mask at all or are wearing a mask but are not covering their nose. If one of the baristas had covid but was not experiencing symptoms yet, hundreds of people would be infected as a result, seeing how irresponsible they are as a business.

Irresponsible to allow employees not to wear a mask. Cant support a business that treats public health so recklessly.

Awesome Cafe Moka Frozen Latte. The customer service was blah. I didnt feel welcomed in and once my drink was ready they called drink name out and slid it across counter. No connection afterwards like thank you or a smile etc. Thank You goes a long way just food for thought.....

The coffee is very good. I like how they have the drinks arranged on the menu board - makes it easy to find what you want. The staff is always kind and helpful. I love the atmosphere - it’s homey and unique, much better than the cookie-cutter chains. This cafe is a great place to sit and chat with a friend or read a book or get some work done.

Tried coffee latte, it was just ok.No greeting when customer enters the shop. Not listening properly but always talking to his boy friend most of the time instead of listening what customer needs. Please change the girls working over there otherwise it may lead to loss.

Went here today for the first time to try the coffee. I walked in and I was standing at the line starts here sign and the girl working there looked at me and never asked me what I wanted to order. I was standing there for a good 5 minutes. Two guys walked in and I guess they were friends of hers because she immediately asked them what they wanted and proceeded to prepare them drinks while I was standing there. In the end I just left. Horrible service.

Walked in and 2 out of the 3 employees behind the counter were not wearing masks. Walked right back out.

Do not come here if taking social distancing seriously. I emailed about bringing my child who is immunocompromised to see if staff was taking precautions. (We used to love coming here and playing outside!). I did not receive a response. I popped in and staff was not wearing masks. The coffee is great, but I feel bad as I really wanted to support a local biz during these hard times.

The coffee and teas are good but I much prefer Starbucks. Dont think I will be going back because only one of the employees were wearing a mask and none of the customers inside at the table had on masks.

Was excited to try this place but couldnt place an order. Despite being in the middle of a global pandemic, none of the workers were wearing any masks or gloves. I would rather have my espresso without deadly virus.

Best matcha latte Ive ever had (and Ive had quite a few from small local coffee shops and chain coffee shops)! The Honey Matcha Latte was smooth, creamy, perfectly sweet, and no bitter aftertaste. Cant wait to go back!

If you like the taste of paper filters, this is the place for you. Although it might be cheaper to just chew on some filters. Ive tried several times, I know the beans are good, the Brew is not.

Nice local coffee shop feel, great place to chill or hop on the wifi for a while. After a couple visits the staff knew me and my order and that feels nice. The coffee is great, at least for someone like me who doesnt know much about coffee. They have oat milk which makes for a better vegan latte than almond milk. The common crowd gives off a pretty strong youth group vibe 🤷

A very nice, little boutique coffee shop with lots of personality. I can certainly see this as a place to come for a coffee beverage after having dinner in one of the many restaurants close by. The employee I interacted with while placing my order was friendly, although perhaps a little uninformed about what was sold. (When I was told that there were two coffee bean choices available, I asked if they were different roasts and was told that they were both brown.) However, I feel like the kinks with service will be worked out. Beverage prices are comparable to national chains, but retail item prices are pretty high.

Best pourover coffee in Charlotte. Call me crazy but I think these guys brew a better cup than any of the famous coffee shops I hit in NYC or San Francisco. The coffee is also very consistent so I never have to worry about a bad cup. Nice that they keep 4 different beans in stock to allow you to experiment. If there was anything to dock this place on it would be the pastries...a bit on the dry side.

To anyone and everyone concerned about going out and getting food in a global pandemic DO NOT GET COFFEE HERE! According to Executive Order 147 made by Roy Cooper, every single restaurant worker must wear a face covering. NONE of them were wearing a face coverings, nor did they have the respect to put one on before greeting me. I work at another local coffee shop in Charlotte, and we follow these guidelines. Cafe Moka must respect these guidelines or they just lost a regular costumer.

This place has all of your coffee needs! Whether you are in the mood for an espresso based drink or an incredible cup of well made coffee they always have a few different varieties from different origins and roasters. Taste them all!

I got a sweetened blackberry and raspberry black tea and it was delicious!!! I got a small and I drank it all within like 10 minutes. My sisters coffee was amazing also! Definitely recommend this place! ;)

My husband and I have visited this coffee shop several times now. I really enjoy their coffee, and even like their over the top creative seasonal drinks (so fun!). My husband, on the other hand, is not a fan of the taste of their coffee. Its too bitter tasting for his preference. Today I ordered a basic iced coffee. Tastes like other places nitro or cold brew. I loved it!

Good coffee, everything else is just wrong. Customers need to purchase before being able to use the bathroom. Bathroom doors are equipped with a digital lock, not what you would expect at such upscale location. Multiple signs for where to place the dirty dishes. Appearance of coziness, but totally uncomfortable atmosphere, noice, seating... not inviting for the remote worker/telecommuter.What a disappointment!

Pretty nice and very cozy little coffee shop. Wish they made to go drinks by name, that would help with drink confusion and not knowing whos drink is whos. I got the carmel iced latte, it was alright... It was way too sweet and not enough coffee flavor for my preference. I would come back and try the drip brews.

Best coffee around! You cant get any better than this. Very good variety of coffee and espresso, and flavors are always on point! Must have been here about 50 times already. Definitely my to go spot for coffee. Starbucks who? Not worth paying for cheap coffee full of milk and sugar when you got a great place like this. Oh and the sea salt hazelnut spiced hot cocoa is crack!
