I love the strawberry donuts. They have a variety of Vegan and Non Vegan donuts and ice cream. I highly recommend this place.

Sugar Donuts has me somewhat perplexed as l genuinely like the product, but recent visits have me questioning the value proposition. Specifically, the donuts / pastries have gotten smaller. Same size box which used to house four pastries now houses six. In addition to that, one of the most unique menu items (the breakfast sandwich) is inconsistent. I ordered two of the sandwiches on Sugar Donuts website for pick up over the last weekend and both were missing egg. Unfortunately, I did not realize that until I got home. The website shows that sandwich with egg, so I am at a loss as to why it was excluded. I guess I expect more for a premium-priced product. I did not get the expected value out of my last visit at $30 for six donuts and two sandwiches. I frequented Sugar Donuts many times over the last multiple years so the product changes are more noticeable to customers such as myself vs. someone who just recently started going there. I wish Sugar Donuts all the best, but also want to share that quality and value proposition are slipping.

The donuts are fresh and taste amazing. The staff is very friendly and the establishment is very organized and clean. I will never eat any other donut other than this place. I highly recommend this place.

Ordered 2 gluten free/vegan donuts from Sugar Donuts, waited 10 minutes, got home and opened the box to find donuts like this. The donuts were undercooked and flat as a pancake. I paid $8 for the worst 2 ‘donuts’ I’ve had. I attempted to contact management via email and phone and got no response. Unprofessional and I will not be returning. If you want vegan or gluten free baked donuts, look elsewhere.

I thought they had many donut options to choose even though they were out of what appeared to be their popular options. The donuts tasted very good and had lot of flavor. My only reason for a 4 star is I thought the prices were slightly higher than expected. I paid $8 for two donuts, which send even higher than some cupcake places. I will be back because of the flavors and options, but just not as often because of the pricing.

Really good coffee. Friendly staff. Beautiful gourmet donuts, however, their menu pricing was confusing. I was charged extra for gourmet donuts for my half-dozen (arent they ALL gourmet donuts, otherwise I would go to Dunkin Donuts). Their menu board said half dozen $18 *incl. 1 maple bacon and 3 filled I got one maple bacon and only one filled and the rest were the raised donuts, not vegan either. I was charged $20 for a gourmet half dozen. There was no signage saying gourmet on the donuts or the menu. Again, this is a gourmet Donut shop so wouldnt ALL the donuts be gourmet?! I raised my concern and did not agree with being charged extra a few times before they took the extra charge off. At no time while the gentleman was filling my order did he tell me a Donut was extra for the half dozen, except for the cinnamon roll. I give them credit for eventually reversing the extra charge, but question any business that does not make things clear (and Im still confused as to the difference between a gourmet Donut and a non-gourmet Donut in a gourmet Donut shop) and then charges people for it. The matter was resolved but not sure if I will return. They are doing well so my business, or lack thereof, will not make or break them.

Nice, fluffy, and moist handmade donuts with a perfect ratio of icing to dough. (The dough might be the best part of them as well)...The inside has a bit more of a grab and go feel about it right now (which is what I think they are going for) but it was very clean and well organized. I havent tried their coffees yet but it looked as if they have a solid assortment of both regular coffees and espresso drinks. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will visit again!

Recently visited with my family and their donuts are very big and filling. Like everyone else, my favorite donut is their maple bacon 🤩 The staff is super friendly and they also have homemade gelato. Will definitely come back when I am craving a donut!

I purchased a half dozen donuts for $19 (which is a little expensive but the donuts are very large), including cinnamon crunch, granulated sugar, strawberry filled, Boston cream, and cookies and cream. The donuts were good and my family enjoyed them, but they tasted slightly undercooked. I would like to give 4 stars but the Boston cream donut had a section of raw dough in the middle next to the cream, which I bit into and then had to throw part of the donut away. Their gelato looked good, I will probably come back and try it sometime.

The most dense donuts I’ve ever had. They’re not bad, but not good enough for what you’re paying for ($20 for 6 regular, not gluten free donuts). Plus there were only around 7 donut varieties available, though maybe they just have them until it sells out & don’t make anymore afterward

Weve been coming here consistently (shamefully) for the last year. Their vegan donuts are the BEST around! The strawberry is my favorite and the cinnamon is my husbands favorite. My mom eats their gluten free donuts and she says theyre the best gluten free donuts shes had. The staff is always very polite and helpful. We never go anywhere else for donuts!

Donuts are expensive. 10 donuts would have cost $64, we had to get 12 and it was $31. MJ Donuts on South Blvd are much better and they cost $17 for a dozen.

The donuts were AMAZING. They are very moist and you can definitely tell they were freshly made, even the ones on display. The staff was very friendly. Best donut I have had in Charlotte—or anywhere for that matter!

This place is great for vegan donuts. I love donuts that arent cakey and they deliver. The vanilla is amazing. They also have vegan options for drinks like milk alternatives and even gelato options that are vegan. Very friendly service as well. Definitely will be going again.

Buyer Beware! They must be under new management because the donuts are no longer good! You’ll be disappointed with these greasy fried sugar pills. The staff is nice and the place looks the same but the donuts are trash! I stopped in on Valentines Day and order about $30 dollars worth. Gluten free was dry dry dry and flat, a literal cardboard donut. The “heart shaped” vday special was filled with bland whipped cream. The donut was just fried dough which tasted greasy! The apple fritter was okay. Uuggghh so disappointed! What happened to this place!!!?? Not worth it!

These are incredible doughnuts, their artisanal, and the doughnut maker obviously takes a lot of pride in what they do. They offer vegan doughnuts which are comparable in flavor, texture, and care as their regular doughnuts.They are on the expensive side, but yes they are worth it (try the Boston creme!). Get there early, or place your order ahead of time to avoid the inevitable line.

Went here on 11/28/2020 and I was not satisfied! My donuts tasted old. Please go at your own risk. Spent over $30 for dry donuts... I came here because of the reviews and it being on the news. What a Mistake! I gave it 1 star because the cashier was nice. My family and I did not eat them. If I could get a refund I would. I will never Return to SUGAR DONUTS!!! Waste of hard earned $....

Donuts are really good, but every time I go in there, the employee at the front register never changes her gloves and rubs her hands over her apron and constantly grabs her mask while you order and then touches the donuts with the same gloved hand.It would be great for the employees to put on a fresh pair of gloves in front of the customer and then take them off when she takes the credit card, cash etc.Will not be back for now.

Come to Daddy! Get in my belly! Wow, some of the best donuts in town. First off, they are huge. Donut base is not overly sweet and has a nice little crunch to it. Inside is light and melts in your mouth. Toppings flavorful and adequate. Don’t waste your time with Pepperbox as this is the real deal. Also, very friendly and quick customer service. The young lady working made suggestions and was very helpful as it was my first time there. Run do not walk to Sugar Donuts!

Decadent donuts dazzle your taste buds!I was so happy to revisit Sugar Donuts & they continue to amaze me! I tried the Cookie dough donut-- fluffy cake donut with cookie dough filling and topped with a cookie! Truly incredible flavors and awesome sweet cookie taste, definitely sweet but I enjoyed it. They also had Smores donuts, and maple bacon donuts! The donuts are massive, easy to share. I like their Pure intentions coffee.Definitely go early for the most choices and buy several flavors to try. Parking is in the lot nearby and Saturdays are busy.

Brought these in for a client meeting and they LOVED them. Such fun flavors, so many to choose from. Gelato looked amazing as well. The girl working the front desk was so friendly and helpful

Went for my first time this past Saturday. Unique flavors including a couple of donuts made with liquor. Didnt try those but tried the vanilla donut and the cinnamon roll. These donuts are huge and have a soft cake texture to them. If youre into that, these donuts are for you. I tend to like donuts made to order where they are nice and warm, like duck donuts. I might go back and try one of the boozy donuts just because they sound interesting.

My wife and I met the owner and he was so pleasant to meet. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a treat in Ballantyne area!!!!

Weve tried several places in Charlotte since we moved here in February and this has been our favorite so far. Their donuts are fluffy and light and somehow have a creamy texture at the same time. (We had salted chocolate caramel/maple bacon and sprinkle and lemon buttermilk) Their cinnamon rolls are divine and huge! Coffee is also wonderful. Service is superb and the owner is so friendly and helpful. Great experience and well deserved #1 in Charlotte.

We went there on a Sunday. I had heard it was amazing but wasn’t super impressed.They have vegan options which is nice, especially for Charlotte. But I found their regular doughnuts cakey and not very flavorful.Tables weren’t very clean and there was no one there so it wasn’t like they were super busy they couldn’t wipe them down.

This place is the best when it comes to creative donuts. They also have a variety of Gelatos and Vegan donuts. They store is kept clean and the staff are very friendly.

Website and store says they have vegan and gluten free donuts there, drove all the way there and they said you had to call ahead... how could I have known that before getting all the way there. My husband got a donut that was almost $4 and was mediocre.

Delicious donuts and great service. I messaged the shop on a day they weren’t even open and got an immediate response. I asked if they deliver and they said they have a 3 mile radius. Unfortunately my relative who I wanted the deliver for lived outside of the radius, but Kathryn still made it happen. She wrote a sweet note from my family on the box and drove them over to my family member’s home personally to deliver them. They were reportedly delicious! I love smal businesses like this and they deserve to succeed :)

I’ve traveled to donut places all around the country.... while the shop was very cleanly, the donuts themselves were highly underwhelming flavor wise, and extremely over priced for what they were. However, the staff was polite also, so I couldn’t in my heart give it too low of a rating. They try, and they give good effort, but four donuts shouldn’t be $15, and especially with such a small amount of flavors to choose from, and the donuts themselves being so underwhelming.... they were literally just fried donuts with a little stuff sprinkled on top.

Would not recommend if you have celiac or serious wheat allergies!! They dont follow any protocol to reduce allergen risk with toppings. I called today to ask about this and was told they use a shared glaze for all donuts, which they sometimes pour and sometimes dip, depending on who is working. Meaning any gluten free donut could actually contain gluten in the glaze.This is a big deal for people with celiac, who may think they are safe because of the separate fryer, but end up very ill due to this oversight.To top it off, the employee I spoke to was rude and dismissive when I suggested they consider only pouring the glaze, if theyre going to put the effort into having a separate fryer. I believe her words were, yeah, sure, well do it that way from now on, thanks for your opinion, bye.

I came here for the first time and wanted to see what varieties of donuts that they had. I was very disappointed to find that one donut cost $3.25 w/o tax. The donut was good, but its not worth that much. This is not a place that I would visit again.

It was delicious

I came across an old coupon for a free doughnut. There was no expiration date so I figured I would go ahead and use it. I kept meaning to try the place since I live so close. The woman working there told me that it wasnt their coupon and someone else must have printed it since it wasnt the same as the coupons they use. I showed her it was from Sugar on Elm, but she still insisted it was not their coupon. It is one thing to say that it is an old coupon and no longer accepted, but to imply that I printed a coupon to steal a doughnut is ludicrous. The point of coupons is to bring people in so hopefully they will return. The experience was so embarrassing that I am never going back.

Very disappointed. My husband waited an hour for his order. Other customers were going in and out with their donuts. He went back in the store a couple of times, to be told a new batch was being made then told they ran out of one he ordered an hour before. Extremely poor service.

Excellent my first time

Went to Sugar to pick up donuts for a client the other day. The donuts were HUGE and DELICIOUS. They had a special Baileys Irish Crème donut for St. Patricks day and it was amazing. The service was great also. Highly recommend!

I was really looking forward to these donuts, they looked unique and the handmade part was a big plus! I love a good yeast donut, but these were HEAVY and dense. Extremely disappointed.

Im honestly not interested in donuts that I have to wield with two hands. There is no subtlety here-- everything is gigantic, slathered in toppings, and waiting to cause stomach ache. If youre looking for outright decadence you may enjoy Sugar, but I prefer a less heavy-handed approach.

These puffy pastries are a little oily, the texture falls somewhere between a muffin and a croissant. Ive always gotten the maple bacon or Southern banana pudding which are every bit as amazing as they sound. Today I was in the mood for chocolate but none of the French chocolate glazed were available, so I went with the chocolate salted caramel. The little bit of salt and caramel flavors (I skipped the caramel square garnish) drizzled on top allowed it to taste much like Id expect a chocolate glazed donut to taste, spare a bite or two in the middle where the salt was sprinkled. The chocolate could have been thicker (the donuts are very thick) but it was still very tasty! The coffee isnt too bold, Just the war I like it with some half and half. Ill be back next week!
