They did not even carry the product we were looking for, yet they spend time advising us about points to consider. They also gave us written names and addresses of businesses that might carry the three-wheeled electric bike we were seeking. Granted the store was empty, but they were very generous with their good advice and time.
My experience at Benidorm has been amazing. I took my 6-month-old bike, my first proper road bike, in with a broken spoke. They fixed it same day to get me back on the road. Then, within a month, the other wheel popped a spoke, and two weeks later a third. This bike had only about 2,000 miles on it at the time. The manager (Pete) remembered me from the first time and offered to take up the issue with Specialized. Spokes shouldnt be breaking like that with regular road/rail trail usage, he said. He arranged with the company for me to get a new set of hoops, upgraded, at no charge. In the process, hes earned all my future business. Thanks, Benidorm! Support your local bike shop, folks. Especially as someone new to the sport, I dont know what Id do without the ability to run down there and seek advice, get a part or ask about local riding clubs.
Drove five hours from Rochester NY and they made my experience of getting a really nice bike special. Super grateful they had the one I wanted in stock and were able to build it quickly. The bike is fantastic. Both Peter and Keith were fantastic as well. Totally recommend!
Fantastic & friendly customer service that makes one feel comfortable and not condescended upon for not being a shredder with a 10k bike. Has a traditional old school bike shop feel (and smell!) while also sporting cutting edge technology. This is my new local shop!
Such a great store! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and committed to giving everyone a great biking experience.
Top shelf bike shop. The best tune up I ever received. Extremely knowledgeable and competent staff.
So friendly and helpful. We just moved to the area and without a doubt just found our new bike shop❤️
Im a busy director working in Film and TV and I searched for bikes that were out of stock during these trying times we are in. I found Benidorm and was grateful to Jan and her staff for working tirelessly to ensure that delivery was met and that I received two quality bikes. I appreciate their work and look forward to riding. I would recommend their business.
I had to post a review after the fantastic experience we just had- I purchased a smart trainer for my husband as a gift; after having done more than a couple hours of reading I thought I knew what the best choice was and purchased on line. When I arrived to pick up, Peter took the time to educate me and guide me to a different trainer (less expensive) that was better suited to my husbands bike. He was also great about having us come back after the gift was opened to set up the trainer and teach us the fundamentals of how to take off the back wheel and attach/detach from the trainer. He couldnt have been more patient or generous with his time. Im so grateful we have this wonderful business so close to home. Thank you Benidorm (and especially Peter!)! My husband is officially Zwifting as I am typing this thanks to you!
The best experience I have had purchasing anything in a long, long time. I went to Benidorm looking at a completely different bike than the one I purchased. Peter met me outside with the bike I thought I wanted, it was beautiful. I was ready to pull the trigger even though it was technically a size too big. Peter really didn’t want me to purchase something that wasn’t going to be perfect for me. He brought out a bike that was slightly more expensive but mind-blowingly beautiful. I immediately fell in love. Peter walked me through the bike, showed me how to use the new fancy shifting technology that came with it and did it while cracking jokes and making me feel welcome. I never felt pressured to be buy anything. I never felt like if I decided not to get it they wouldn’t want to spend the time with me. This group is professional, knows their stuff and just plain nice. In a world where we need more nice, Peter and Jan live it. I will be buying all of my accessories, getting my bike serviced and buying future bikes for my boys here. The absolute only place you need to go for your cycling needs.
(This was from September, 2020)I was given a Trek 6500 hybrid mountain/street bike and aside from a minor seat adjustment, I needed to replace the quill stem (where the handlebars attach to the steering column). The reach was too much and I was hunching over way more than I should be.Having explored my options on line, I knew I needed/wanted an adjustable quill stem. This would allow me the greatest flexibility in setting up the bike. Yes, I could have ordered it on line and had it delivered in a weeks time, but since I live in town, I wanted to give business to the brick & mortar store during this time of COVID.I went to Benidorm and after waiting outside for my turn (no one is allowed in the store because of COVID), Peter Downs (Sales Manager) approached and asked what I needed. I explained what I was looking for and after he asked me a few of questions about size and measurements of what I was looking for, he disappeared into the store. At least 10 minutes later he exits the store with a part, a stem attachment and says, I know this isnt what youre looking for but this is what I have. Now well have to order a post to attach this to and that should work for ya. He was right, it WASNT what Id asked for. I asked for an adjustable quill stem and told him so. Well if thats what you want you aint gonna get it this year, he snapped. Theyre out of stock and you cant get them anywhere. (Um...I JUST SAW THEM ON LINE, and I could get one in less than a week). Good luck he said, clearly irritated that I wasnt adopting his solution, then turned and walked back into the store. That was it. THAT was their idea of customer service.I immediately drove a couple of miles down the street to Ridgeline Bikes in Avon. I ENTERED THIER STORE and again explained what I had and was looking for. The guy there was very helpful, began looking through a box in the service shop and produced two versions of EXACTLY what I was looking for. I settled for the longer posted of the two stems, and asked, how much? He shrugged, and said 10 bucks?. SOLD. Went home and installed it. Works great. This is the SECOND experience Ive had with Benidorm where, more than the parts, their attitude was off-putting. Suffice to say that come spring, when I fully intend to invest in a new bike, it will come from Ridgeline Bikes and NOT Benidorm. Even though Benidorm is in my hometown, their dismissive attitude is enough that theyve lost me as a customer for good.
Great bike for my son.
I was in the market for an e-bike that didnt look like an e-bike. I was hoping to find a bike to keep pace with my husband for the 30+ mile rides on Vermont country roads. When I spoke with the owner of Benidorm Bikes, Jan, about my situation, she recommended the Specialized Vado 5. Ive been riding it for about 2 months, and I love it! It takes the edge off of the anxiety when you see that BIG climb in front of me. Now, I ride more frequently, longer distances, and feel awesome at the end of ride. Thank you Jan and Benidorm Bikes!
I purchased a new road bike earlier this year. I wasn’t sure what I wanted or needed in a bike, but Pete and the crew at Benidorm not only gave me an education in cycles, but set me up with an incredible bike that I love to ride. And I didn’t have to spend a fortune to get a solid bike that I can grow with for many years. The service is prompt and thorough, even with the pandemic, they are able to service my bike and set me up with quality gear. They are a great bike shop.
As a former small business owner, and someone that oversees nearly 60 small business in CT, I have to share that your customer service, welcoming atmosphere, and willingness to share knowledge was one of, if not the best, consumer purchasing experiences I’ve ever had.I certainly won’t be a stranger to the shop.
I have purchased 4 bikes from Benidorm since 2012. The Owners Jan and Doug are fantastic people, truly knowledgeable and passionate about cycling in all genres. The management and staff are professional and courteous. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience with everybody there, Peter Downs particularly. He is always there with friendly advice and a smile. Charlie is a whiz in the shop, too. If you need service, a new bike, a swap bike, or just good advice, you need to go to Benidorm.
Benidorm Bikes is my go-to store in the Farmington Valley. Although I moved out of state five years ago, I can still count on the Benidorm Team to help me out whenever I am in town. Recently, I appreciated the time Pete spent to set my bike up with new pedals, lights, and complete a small repair when I was in town for a short visit. He made sure to get my bike back to me in a timely fashion, as I had to leave town again in a few days. Thanks, Benidorm team!
Benidorm has always been and continues to be the example that all local bike shops should strive for. They put in the effort to fully understand the drive and needs of their customers, and try to figure out what fits them best. They dont upsell, they sell right then support you after.bthey make a personal connection to their customers and looks out for their interests. I cannot recommend them enough.
I went to the shop to pick up cycling gloves I ordered. I needed some help with assembling my new bike rack that I didnt purchase at Benidorm. The staff kindly helped me with the assembly. I am gratfeul that they were so willing to help me at no charge, as well.
I live about 5 minutes from a Specialized bicycle dealer, but I am going to make the 30 minute drive to Benidorm to have my bike serviced from now on. They are knowledgeable, professional and incredibly responsive. I have never experienced better customer service from a bicycle shop.
I needed a quick inflate today - pulled into the lot and called (because the doors are COVID closed) and asked for a hand. No problem - a very nice person came out, pumped us up and we were good to go. They didnt want to charge and were very reluctant to take thank you $. Next time I need something bigger - like a new bike - I will definitely head over. Thanks Benidorm!
In search of new riding shoes and cleats, and wanted to try on the shoes and not order them, I had great luck and excellent customer service here. Inside is closed but I called and tried on a few sizes outside on their beautiful deck. They installed the cleats and I was in and out quickly!
Pete and the folks at Benidorm Bikes were incredible! They took the time to find exactly what this very picky customer needed to get the exact bike my daughter wanted for her birthday. You guys rock!!! I appreciate the incredible service and 1 on 1 attention that is very hard to find these days! See ya again for the next size up!
I knew I needed a new bike and I was sure I knew what bike I needed. My 11 year old Roubaix had been a star but knowledgeable riders were telling me that the newer technology would improve my game. I had never shopped at Benidorm (Berlin Cycle then Newington Bike) but it seemed to be where all the serious riders went.I met Jan who immediately steered me away from what I wanted to what I needed and saved me quite a bit of money. Despite the Coronavirus she was able to get exactly the right bike for me. I knew 5 miles into my first ride that she had made the right decision, because this new Specialized was so much easier to ride. The Di2, the frame, and especially the Future Shock suspension system were all fabulous upgrades to my world. However, this was only the beginning. I had stubbornly dragged my old seat, my old pedals and my old ways with me to the new bike. My fellow riders coerced me into getting a proper fitting. This was the real game-changer. I am the king of contempt prior to investigation and I figured that I had been riding long enough to know how to set up my own bike.Jan tossed my beloved Brooks and raised the new seat almost 2. She canted the handlebars down 10 degrees and moved me further back on the saddle so I was pitched forward at a more comfortable and efficient angle. My new pedals are closer to the frame and the overall effect is keeping my knees tucked in and my back straighter, putting far less pressure on my joints.Since those changes, my climbing has drastically improved because my power is more centrally concentrated at the pedals. I am about 800 miles into the changes and I am experiencing less fatigue and certainly less cramping than before. This is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden.Jan? Benidorm? The bike? All of them are factors but it is the first time in my cycling career that any one shop has taken the time to put it all together. However you ride, I cant stress to you enough the value of buying a bike from Benidorm and then having a custom fit with Jan.
Between myself and two grown children we have bought 8 or 9 bikes at Benidorm. Always professional and customer focused, Ive never felt any pressure to buy anything I didnt need. There are bike shops closer than the 45 minute drive it takes me to get there which I think says a lot. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
So Google is asking me to do a review on a place Ive never been to... So here is my review.
Great shop! My husband has enjoyed coming here for a couple years, so recently I decided to stop in a get a bike. So wonderful! Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend!
On 7/16/2020, I drove to the store to look for two specific bike parts. I normally shop online, but because Benidorm bikes sells Speedplay, I decided to shop here this time.To my surprise, they had exactly what I was looking for. I was very happy about that!
Very helpful and knowledgeable 100% recommend. Also great prices
Didnt seem to care if we bought a bike or not. Extremely short and rude. We bought a bike from Ridgeline instead. Ridgeline was awesome, friendly, and extremely helpful! If youre looking for excellent customer service I definitely recommend Ridgeline.
Helpful staff!
Love this shop! Super knowledgable and friendly staff; they really go the extra mile to get to understand what you need, and then are able to get it (even if they have to track it down). Reliability and good customer service never get boring!
I was warned by two people the staff was unfriendly here, I gave them a shot anyways. I stopped by and politely asked for help, the guy who assisted me was flat out rude, wont be going back
Outstanding service
Even with all the modifications this shop knows customer service! If you have questions they have answers ! Ill be back and even more important Ill reccomend this shop for all bicycle needs
I ride 10,000 miles a year, and trust no one more than the incredible staff at Benidorm Bikes. The mechanics, sales staff, and owners are some of the most remarkable people Ive had the pleasure to meet. They always go above and beyond my expectations whether servicing my bicycles or getting me geared up for winter, spring, summer and fall. Absolutely fabulous!
Went to 2 different area bike shops before visiting here. They were eager to help me and answer all my questions. The mechanic noticed an issue I was having with my rim and fixed it on the spot for free.Came back after posting the previous paragraph and was ignored by the man at the counter and then treated rudely. Even after this, I called to ask the price of a spoke replacement. When they quoted me $40, I said that seemed a bit high and he hung up on me...leave town when looking for a bike shop.
Benidorm Bikes has special ordered a bike for my wife, modified my mountain bikes drivetrain, helped me find accesories tailored to my riding, and genuinely try to build a rapport with their customers. The store is well stocked with products that lean towards the higher quality side. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share. Im glad to have them as my local bike shop.
Jan is THE BOMB !!!!! - She is super knowledgeable and super friendly. Very techie shop but, made me feel very comfortable. Another great Local, Small Shop, highly recommend these guys.
They helped me find the PERFECT bike, and were so patient as I kept retiring with more questions and requests to keep trying different bikes. I learned a lot and love my new bike.
This is a superb bike shop, especially if you need real advice on equipment. The owner (a woman whose name escapes me, former racer) spent hours with my wife and I, first helping my wife get her bike fitted and then giving us tons of advice on tires and equipment. Were in our fourth year of cycling and still learning, and her knowledge was welcome. There was no sales pressure -- although we ended up spending a lot, and like most high-end stores, the goods are not cheap. Highly recommend it. We drive an hour to go here vs. other stores closer to our home.
I have bought several bikes there and had a number repairs done there as well. Typically I bring things in at the last minute and wanted quick turnaround. They have always tried to meet my needs. I have always found them to be very knowledgeable, reasonably priced and extremely accommodating. It is inconceivable to me that they have ever received an unfavorable review. I have been to other good bike shops as well but certainly none better.
If you ever want a custom bike fitting go see Jan at Benidorm. This wonderful woman spent at least 8 hours with me over several visits dialing in my bike, my shoes, my saddle, everything, in order to make my ride more comfortable. The entire staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I cant recommend this place highly enough. Go see them!
Excellent, professional service and most importantly honest.
In August, I committed to buying a new road bike so I made an appointment for a bike fitting at Benidorm Bikes. Even prior to arriving at Benidorm, when I made my appointment with Jan, I could tell this shop and the service they provide would be second to none. It turns out I was right. Jan had a busy schedule that day (getting her son off to college in addition to her bike shop work). Even so, she was flexible, attentive and accommodating. And she really knows her bikes. Id done a little research before arriving, but had been largely out of the road cycling world for decades so I needed help to be sure my several thousand dollar purchase would be one Id cherish, not one Id regret. After some basic measurements and a discussion about what I was looking for in a road bike...the type of riding Id be doing... she selected a couple of different bikes to put me on to see what I thought of them. I took each of them for 15 minute ride from the shop on varied road conditions and she listened to my comments when I came back in. She made some adjustments and sent me back out. Then she had me get on a different type of bike and listened to my feed back about that. After the rides and my discussions with Jan, I felt confident that I had the right bike for me. At that point, we began to discuss component groups, pedals, bottle cages, smart trainers and the like. She guided me through the decision making process for all of it. If youve shopped for a good road bike recently, youll know that while you can get a great value, for quality gear youre likely going to part with $2-3gs or more for a complete bike and another $500-1,500 or more for a smart trainer and accessories. Thanks to Jan and Benidorm, Im very pleased with my purchases and feel like I spent my money wisely. A side note: Their inventory and range of bikes is impressive...from simple cruisers to hard-core racing bikes and dedicated off-road/downhill monsters. Based on my experience at Benidorm, I have no doubt that the service side of their business is just as stellar. Thank you, Jan and Benidorm for helping me and making my experience a great one.
Really friendly staff. Excited to get my first real mountain bike from them!
Good shop and selection. Pete and Adam were very helpful.
Best bike shop around! They have everything you need and excellent costumer service!
Best shop in CT. World-class personal service. Couldnt have safely ridden Ironman Lake Placid multiple times without their help! Dont waste time elsewhere.
Didn’t seem interested in selling me a bike. Went elsewhere and bought a bike the same day.
Great shop. Great support. Extremely knowledgeable staff. They have guided me to bike purchases that met MY needs, listened to my occasional crazy questions and never made me feel intimidated by my lack of bike knowledge. I will always be a customer.
I do most my own work on my bikes but use Benidorm for other items. Great shop and super knowledgable guys that actually ride.
Excellent
They helped me solve a problem with my Garmin Edge 1000 that I hadnt even purchased from them. Very helpful, very knowledgeable, very polite. Ill be back!
Jodi & Colin were very kind and thoroughly fielded all my questions concerning mountain bikes.
Helpful staff great atmosphere would rather drive 45 minutes there than go to anyone else
Doug helped me through a number of issues with a problem bike. They were knowledgeable and helped with both the mechanical problems and dealing with suppliers. Most of the staff who work there are friendly and technically competent.
The staff was very helpful in finding bags for bike touring!
Great place with some great bikes. World Class service
Arrogant. Bad vibe overall.
2nd time if have been here. Served by the same arrogant staff member both times. Will not go again
Overpriced and a bit arrogant
