I work close by and my boss gives me a company card to purchase snacks for our break room. I have been going to Friendly Corner for years for this purpose and have had mixed experiences, but mostly good ones for the first several years. Lately, however, most of my experiences have been negative.A few weeks ago, I wanted to purchase some sour cream and noticed at the register that it was expired so I switched it out. This prompted me to check all expiry dates on products from then on and I have since found MANY expired products. Right now there is a stack of refrigerated dips that are all expired by a month or more for example. Ive also seen moldy pastries on the shelf several times. If thats not enough of a health hazard for you, well maybe this next part will be. Recently I purchased several bags of pork rinds. When I got back to the office, I noticed that all of them had holes towards the bottoms of the bags. It looked like they had been chewed through in multiple places. I immediately returned to the store and was told that they have rats because of the pizza restaurant next door. They exchanged the bags for fresh ones that I confirmed were perfectly sealed but I left wondering, if they know they have rats, why havent they done anything about it? I can now, weeks later confirm that they still have not done anything about this because today I went to purchase some pork rinds and all 5 bags of the spicy ones on the shelf have chew holes in them.Perhaps the worst part about this place is that they do not honor prices on their already overpriced items. Weeks ago I was going to purchase a box of tea. The person at the register proceeded to pull the price tag off the box and ring it in at a higher price. When I asked about this, I was told that the price was wrong and they would not honor it. But, thats not even as bad as the fact that I have noticed that often, they will scan a product, it will ring up as one price and they will void it and ring it up at a higher price. Today, I purchased a container of cream cheese that when scanned rang up as $4.49. The cashier voided it, then rang it up as a random grocery item for $4.99. I also purchased a Jack Links beef stick which had an original sticker price of $2.99, then a newer label on top with a price of $1.99 and was charged $2.79. (Please see my photos below for reference.) The prices at this store are already super high as it is, so tacking on even more at the register is just awful. I recommend always requesting a receipt so that you can check if youve been swindled. Most of the workers will not give you a receipt unless you ask for it.I kept giving them chances since they are very convenient for me and hoped they would improve, but if anything they are getting worse. They may be friendly here, but they certainly are not honest or responsible business people. I will never be returning to this store and will instead take our business down the street to 7-11 and/or VIP Convenience.Caveat emptor!
Decent place with decent prices and good selection. Need to spend at least $10 to use debit/credit which was a blow. Staff seemed suspicious of me as I walked around looking for a snack. There are signs on the door with expected etiquette that doesnt make it seem like a friendly place, ironic given the name. Im sure place is fine but didnt care for my experience.
Me and my son came in the store and immediately Tony started making friends with me and my son. I felt at home with my family. Great service, Great new management and so many more choices than before. We all have to support this store in the community. Great for people.
Hey everyone,I know this store normally wasn’t a place that welcomed customers. However, this store just underwent a temporary management change. The rude woman employee that every seemed to hate left today. New permanent management change will not occur until April 1st. Come to this store. I promise you will not be disappointed.
The women that served me at 10:00 pm tonight was very unpleasant and full of negative vibrations. The guy that work that normally work night shift is a very handsome articulate Hindu gentleman with a beautiful smile and good vibes, she is the total opposite in every way. The woman is unpleasant in every way.
Totally fine neighborhood convenience store. Nice to have when I dont want to walk into Davis or to Pemberton up the street.
Friendly corner is a good run in run out store and the prices are a little more for a convenience store. Also I bought two things of chips and we didnt eat any and it it looks like someone ate them if you look below.
Hey I am in that store almost every day always good service #5 star.
New owners are fantastic. This used to be a zero star place until just recently
Aptly described. the usual convenience store fare, however they tend to have an unusually upbeat staff.
Good service and good people working in store now is under new management they are good and more choices in store use to be not good but now good 3 months a go was not happy but now Im so happy
Very cheap owners...barley talks english ..if u walk around store, trying to decide what to get, the owner thinks youre trying to steal his stuff...Very rude and unprofessional cheap indian guy..non of the local people like this owner, If u ask him a bag even if u buy something, this guy dont want to give u plastic bag....i was there week ago, i bought a can juice which is cold, and i had to walk couple a blocks down, i asked him a bag, he replied me u only buy one juice, so no bag ....wow thats the kindda service u get from this cheap people
Been twice and each time the snacks have been stale/rancid. and the cashiers are always rushing you out while looking around.
