Love Café Zing inside Porter Square Books. Whenever we go in we have to get the Vietnamese Soft rolls with peanut sauce if they have not already sold out. They also have excellent coffee, tea and other drinks hot or cold. The pastries are delicious and there are dairy free options as well.
Love the food there. We have been there several times. But the last time the restaurant was full and the service was not great. The waitress behind the bar was assigned to us and we had to wait for a very long time for everything while people who arrived after us were served earlier and were assigned a restaurant waitress. After signaling several times to our waitress to have dessert and coffee, our waitress brought us a cheque directly without asking if we’d like coffee or dessert ! We were extremely disappointed and frustrated as usually their service was good and other waitresses were attentive to their customers. That was 3/4 weeks ago.
Great tasting coffee and a very chill setting inside a book store, with a patio outside as well if you need. The wifi is fast enough for my work needs and the baristas are very friendly and helpful. They have some pretty good snacks too, including weirdly excellent pre-packaged half-sandwiches. I like the chicken breast with sriracha mayo. Beats the pants off Starbucks as a place to work on your laptop or sit and read for a while. Do be advised that on sunny days if youre sitting in the window you will probably get roasted unless you put down the blinds, and a couple seats dont have good blinds coverage.
Fantastic service and coffee, every time. The iced coconut mocha is unbelievably good!
Those peanut rolls are my life. Please order more during COVID. Running out before noon is not acceptable! The people need their fresh rolls! :)
We had a great afternoon here. It doesnt take all that long (we took maybe 1.5 hours) but it was enjoyable. My partner is a scientist and I love art, and it was the perfect intersection of art & science for us. As a student, it was only $5 per ticket - totally worth it. They have a cool little gift shop, too.
Ive always loved Cafe Zing at Porter Square books, but havent been here much post COVID. I barista made my day today with incredible coffee, delicious pastry, and thoughtful words.
Small coffee counter but fast and efficient, snacks and pastries. Pleasant window seating for people watching and a small outdoor cafe. Right inside Porter Square books. Dog friendly.
Tiny coffee shop tucked into the bookstore. Limited seating. Popular spot any day of the week. Usually has a few vegan food options such as scone or muffin.
Good coffee and nice cold drinks selection. The ginger lemonade is amazing! Tasty pastries and a few gluten free options. Their famous summer rolls with peanut sauce are famous for a reason!
I always have an amazing experience here at Cafe Zing. Its a joint coffee shop and bookstore so I can peruse different parts of the store and the coffee and food available are delicious! I especially love the toffee cookie and the chocolate orange coconut muffin. Staff is also very personable!
What makes Cafe Zing is its exceptional staff. They are funny and very fast. They remember who you are and make you feel at home. The food is locally sourced and very good. The variety of clientele makes for great people watching as well. A great place to meet people, have coffee and browse books as it is located in Porter Square Books. I highly recommend it.
The picture right now for cafe shows shelves of books. Thats because the cafe is to the left as you enter Porter Square Books. The view from one of the 3to 4 small tables in the cafe would be of the great bookstore. Always smiling young baristas taking orders for a pretty great coffee, pastries, spring rolls, some veggie sandwich options. Opens early weekdays, so bookstore...which is fantastic...open early too. Only potential issue...limited seating, big college student area, free wifi... but outdoor seating for at least 7 months of the year, and free parking!
Cafe Zing is the best. Friendly staff, great food (spring rolls and peanut sauce as the signature dish of a... bookshop??), excellent drinks, and a great soundtrack make for a good place to hang out, grab a bite to eat, study or work, or just grab a coffee and go. I cant count the number of times Ive been here since I discovered it, but Google once suggested it as my home...
Cafe Zing is inside the Porter Square Bookstore. Huge free parking lot (that still manages to get crowded). If you get there early enough, try the spring/summer rolls with peanut sauce. You can also get discounted day-old pastries. Friendly staff. Free wifi. Limited seating in the front (and some outdoor tables in good weather) but really, wouldnt you rather wander the bookshelves to see what books catch your eye anyway?
This is my favorite place to sit with a coffee and a baked good and crank out some work. The staff is always super friendly, their drink selection is both affordable and healthy, and they have spectacular scones. And partnered with a cute little bookstore, its a great place
Good selection of food, drink and snacks. Busy on a Saturday morning with people coming to one of the many shops in the square.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They make very good coffee, and if you get there in time, the spring rolls are delicious.
My first time being here on a Saturday morning - the drink came out real fast, and it’s a nice place to catch up with friends.
Good place for working alone. Not a whole lot of seating but the coffee is good and being in a book store its not surprising that space is limited. Doesnt hurt that theres lots of free parking.
Spring rolls are the best. Great coffee tea too. Nice staff.
Books and spring rolls. Reputef Authors from Everywhere!! Diamond in the ruff.
Good food. Definitely recommend.
My favorite coffee in Cambridge. Nice and efficient staff and its always nice to support local coffee and bookstore owners.
Great coffee, and if you join their Coffee Ring you get a free drink every 15 purchases!
Best dang coffee shop in town!
Great place, friendly staff and good spot to chat with people!
Awesome coffee, great pastries. A bit on the expensive side.
We stop for tea and spring rolls almost every day!
