Came here randomly to satisfy a brunch craving. Was very busy during brunch time, around 12ish to 2ish. Seemed calm around 3. Staff was attentive and friendly. Ordered Lemon Ricotta pancakes, very subtle lemon taste, pancakes were nice and fluffy, nice presentation. The Impossible burger was awesome, liked the bun, the flavor of the patty and cheese with fig jam was a great savory combination. Food was delicious overall. Got a black nitro coffee, seemed a bit flat but not an end all. Recommend this place to also catch up on some computer work when its not busy.
Bluestone was a solid spot to get brunch on a Sunday. The food was tasty and the portion size was good. I will say if you’re in a rush it may not be the best place to go. My friend and I waited longer than expected and had to rush to eat because we had plans after. Not a big deal and honestly we should have planned better since it was a nice Sunday afternoon and everyone was out and about in Harvard, but all the same just keep that in mind.
Great breakfast spot. I loved the breakfast bowl - perfect healthy dish. I was very excited about the lemon ricotta pancakes but it wasn’t a favorite - the pancakes were a bit burned from the bottom. The coffee was good. The staff were very friendly. Loved the overall vibe & would probably come again to try more dishes.
Cute place with decent food but is crazy crowded and hence fairly lacking in service (even though it’s technically waited). Fun place for brunch but expect to feel really crowded and have slow wait times. We got the green eggs shakshuka dish (good, love the little cast iron skillet), salad, toast bar (I really wanted to try the vegemite; it was interesting, very salty), and a golden latte (I was a fan of the turmeric ginger drink!).
This is one of the best cafe in Cambridge. Their coffee and drinks are seamlessly best with proper ingredients and temperature. This cafe has real good vibe. The food was very well served, healthy and fresh. Loved their potato wedges, avocado smash and Cappuccino. They have ample of seating inside and some patio seating outside. The servers are very professional and very helpful. Ordering is very easy, you order through your phone as well as pay through your phone. Not sure if this is temporary due to Covid or that’s their business model. The only downside of this place was very cold air blowing over you depending upon where you are seated.
I love the cappuccino and avocado toast at this place but this time I went there with my friend for brunch they had a combo option of oatmeal with yogurt and avocado toast. I really liked the oatmeal dish. Their cappuccinos is very good and strong and delicious. I had a crazy headache and right after drinking it, my headache was literally gone. The yogurt was also very delicious. The place has a great vibe and has two stories. It is an amazing option for weekend brunch. Unlike many brunch places in Boston, we didn’t feel rushed at all and we were enjoying our time in a relaxed environment. The staffs were very nice, caring, and polite.I have also tried their iced latte and it is very good as well.
Pretty disappointing experience at Bluestone. We were excited to try this spot as the breakfast looked fresh and bright in flavor. As per the norm, post-covid, all ordering is done via QR with your only interactions being the person dropping the food off.The big breakfast plate had almost no seasoning and was brought without the main protein, bacon. When I asked if I could have something as a substitute, it was a shrug and offered chicken or vegan cheese. It wasnt a big deal but missing the main protein is something that should be addressed before the meal is brought out, especially at $17+ a meal. The breakfast skillet was even worse of an experience as half way through we realized the egg was completely raw (like clear raw egg). We asked if something could be done and they said oh thats been happening a lot we will have a new one out soon. Within 2mins another plate came out that was heavily charred and overcooked - the complete opposite of the first attempt. It was just a sad breakfast.I dont plan on coming back and was quite disappointed in the experience. Neeext!
Pro: The food was not amazing but good enough. Lots of varieties of drinks. The beet latte was refreshing, and I love that they have oat milk option. Ricotta on pancake was delish. Environment looks decent. It also seems to be a pretty popular dating spot.Con: long lines even with a reservation. Really really noisy at peak hours. Avocado smash (toast) was all cold, including the poached egg. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought it’s a hot dish. My friend’s main entree was served at least 10 min after mine. Given these, I might still rate 3 or 4 star. The reason for 2 star is that I can smell really bad kitchen waste in the inner side of the 1st floor seating area after around 1pm. (Also not sure if it’s the restroom right next to us.) I had to stop breathing with my nose cause otherwise I’d throw up. I’m definitely the sensitive kind since my friend was ok, and she thought the smell might come from eggs.. But still, if you ever decide to come here, try getting a table on 2nd floor. I probably won’t come back.
The dining experience was one of the most pleasant I have ever had! We had a family member with a special medical situation and everyone accommodated us with a huge smile! The coffee was beautiful and amazing and the food was fresh and delicious! I recommend everyone eat here!
Great espresso. Little boy on the source side but great taste and hospitality. Can get a little packed sometimes and slows down things too. But the staff is helpful the seating is nice and sunny almost all day which makes it very attractive. A day where you can look at the bright shining sun recharging you with energy and natural vitamin D is always a great day. Enjoy
Had a very pleasant experience with Bluestone Cafe. For coffee, I had a cold brew and it was top notch. We ordered the ricotta pancakes and two different egg dishes. All had very creative ingredient parings that made for very enjoyable meals. Service was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!
Liked this place, which is where crema cafe used to be in Harvard square. Kudos to the person at the front who accommodated our group but not needing every single one of us available to be seated when the table was ready. The decor was much simpler, and the menu was much more extensive. I got the baked red eggs, which were incredible and tried Vegemite for the first time. The only thing I would say as a piece of constructive feedback was that some of the coffee dishes were not hot. However, prices were good, quality of food and service great, and I would definitely visit again!
Extremely disorganized 😕Tried killing two birds with one stone yesterday. That didn’t work out so well when they rudely told me the order had food and isn’t ready. When I returned back I help them discover that they gave the customers order to someone else.To top it off the order I caved in to purchase was cold. The espresso was not fresh. The avocado in the breakfast burrito had gone bad.Presentation wasn’t great for the wedges that they just toss in a brown box maybe 7-8 of them total.Overall portions were small for the expensive price.Service was OFF.Many other places in Harvard Sq. to try out!
I went in for takeout coffee and croissant and had 20 minutes to wait. When I placed my order, I asked how long it would take for a latte and was told it would be about 5-10 minutes. 25 minutes later, I asked how much longer and was told, “As you can see the barista has a lot of drinks to make (pointing to the list of orders).” I asked if I could swap for a cup of black coffee and was told, “That’s actually going to be a long wait time too.” So I left without a drink. I understand that restaurants are short staffed, but I was careful to mention I was in a hurry and asked if they would be able to get me a croissant and coffee in 20 minutes (BTW I got a warmed up croissant within 5 minutes). I would have even been happy with a cup of black coffee without a price adjustment. I am really disappointed with the rude and dismissive behavior. Patrons need to treat servers politely but the same is true in reverse. BTW the croissant was ok not great. I really wanted to like this place. First time last time.
Store was having tech difficulties that prevented half of their online order tickets from printing. Despite the chaos and a 15 minute delay relative to the order time, the manager jumped into action to help provide customer service, even as she struggled to get support from her boss. Very friendly in a challenging environment, and the food was great.
Mocha review:8 ounce hot mocha with the standard double shot and whole milk. Nice micro foam on top, kind of dry, so not too sweet. Overall light and balanced because neither the coffee nor the espresso dominate.Update early July 2021:For Bluestone Lane managers, please add the ability to scan the loyalty card in the app at the cash register! I appreciate the app and being able to order remotely but I was bummed not to get loyalty points when I ordered at the register. Also please update your POS technology so that I can tap to pay with the latest credit cards or phone or smart watch!
The wait is insane. Once you order you have to wait a very very long time even though there are not that many people in the café.The food is good but they got the order wrong and some of the food came cold. The avocado toasts are not very big.I would recommend to order a take away online only.
Bluestone lane gets 5 stars! The staff was friendly and helped explain the QR ordering. The food was great, we really enjoyed “brekkie all day”. The manager on duty, Josh, came by and chatted for a bit, the whole place has a very great vibe to it.
Food is good. The staff is horrible. After sitting at a table for 20 minutes we asked the manager if we could have some water, and she said “if you haven’t noticed I’m pretty busy, but you should feel lucky that you got a seat.”Talk about a horrible culture, bad management, and ridiculous service.
The vibe at Bluestone Lane is that of a home away from home! It is my new favorite spot in Harvard square. The interior is beautiful and spacious. It is a great spot to meet up with friends casually, colleagues and for solo dining. The Staff are very friendly, caring and attentive. The food is delicious with a wide variety of gf and vegan-friendly options.Bluestone Lane at Harvard square is a must-visit and a charming spot to do life!
I missed checking out Bluestone Lane while I was in NYC last month. I am so glad they opened a location here in Boston / Cambridge area! Everything we tried were fresh and delicious - Avocado Smash, Breakfast Bowl, Magic (Cortado) and Epresso 👍! There are still a few on the menu I wanted to try. Thus, I will be back soon! Welcome to Harvard Square, Bluestone Lane!
My son and I were visiting Harvard as he will be a new freshman in the fall and we wanted to get our bearings on the area of Cambridge. We found a series of really great places and one of the best was bluestone lane. We stopped in for two delicious coffees on the first day and then came back on Sunday for an absolutely delicious breakfast. Service was outstanding and the quality of the food was great. Highly recommended and I’m sure we will be enjoying for the next 4 years!
Great breakfast choices. Lots of avocado. Perfectly poached eggs. Friendly prompt service. Great flat white, as always.
Food was delicious, especially the pancakes! Would definitely come back again. Loved that they offered the flight of lattes so we could try them all. Matcha was our favorite. Although we did not get it in this trip, their Chai tea latte is the best Ive ever had!Excited to see this place thrive in Harvard Square.
I love it! Delicious food and drinks!. I would recommend to add the Apple Pay button for easy checkout.
A welcome addition to Harvard Square! They know their coffee, both espresso and milk-based. We had the espresso (single origin Guatemalan this month) and a flat white with almond milk. The space has been remodeled by them as a beautiful café with table service and carry out. Full menu. Service was very friendly and professional. Beans and gear for sale. Australian vibe is fun. Can definitely recommend it.
The coffee is fine, the staff is nice, but why are the prices not listed - prominently, not just via QR code/app - in the store? You can see the calories (what the…what) but not the price. WHO needs to know the # of calories in a coffee drink but not how much it costs?
The atmosphere is nice, but the coffee is sub-par. They have a good variety of espresso and cold brew based drinks with excellent presentation. However, if youre there for the coffee itself I would look elsewhere.
Awful service, slow and unfriendly. Too bad, because nice place inside
Such a good place around Harvard Square! Enjoyed the cafes vibe. Coffee and food were amazing. Definitely seeking to returning to this place
Worst experience ever in a coffee shop. I visited there with my daughter on a hot day. Her drink came in five minutes but my iced latte didn’t come in another 10 minutes. The cashier woman noticed that my order hadn’t been done and prompted one of the women at the coffee machine to serve my order. She was in a harry and seemed to be frustrated. Finally she called my name and put the latte roughly on the pastry display case and the latte dropped in front of me and I got the latte on my shirt and pants. The worst thing was that she turned to the kitchen without any words of apology and when she came back she started cleaning the floor with her back to me. She got angry with herself and didn’t care about her customer.
Great coffee and customer service staff are very knowledgeable
Friendly and helpful staff, Great service, food presentation and taste was excellent. Would revisit. 14/10
This is a beautiful cafe with an upscale modern ambiance, great coffee, delicious brunch & wonderful service. they have covid-safe inside and outdoor seating. This is the kind of place you could sit cozy for hours and you feel like you’re at home.
I absolutely love this place. One of the few coffee shops that are open for indoor seating in Harvard Square, bluestone Lane always has amazing coffee and amazing people. Ive came here by myself to work, and with bigger groups of people as well. And whenever I come Im greeted by kind faces and the service is excellent. Also, because they have two floors, theres always lots of distance between people (which is especially good because of covid). Food and drinks always come out super quickly and theyre always delicious. I personally love getting the flat white and the hot brew. :) Love it here, would recommend to anyone in the area!
I was in a cafe with my husband and one friend who just arrived to USA, that was her second place that she visited after her arrival. We were passing by Harvard square and Bluestone Lane too, on first sight cafe and menu looked cute, so decided to go there for breakfast. But when we already made an order, we saw that place looked really dirty, we got dirty cutlery, dirty tea cup, the service was awful. We could see it was crowded but we didnt expect such a bad service!
We had an interesting experience at Bluestone Lane. We walked in and we were told that there were no spaces when we could clearly see the big table right in front of us that was available. We asked if we could sit at this table and she reluctantly allowed us to sit at the large table. Right after we sat down, she walked up to us and told us that there will be a long wait time as there is only one chef working. For an unknown reason, she did not want us there. Unfortunately, we were too cold and we sat down regardless of her unfriendly behavior. I am extremely disappointed to see the lack of hospitality. On the other hand, our server (a black gentleman) was very attentive.
Picked up brunch from this place a few Saturdays ago, they were dealing with a rush due to staffing shortages. Despite a slight delay, the food came out great. Great ambience inside the cafe too.
Good stuff and healthy food. But I think its way overpriced :/
I hated this place such spicey food and so little and costs a lot I recommend not comming here!!!
Its a cafe and coffeeshop. The layout is the same as Cremas and that works. The food was very good and the service attentive. The mixed pressed juices were deliciousness but pricey. They should have a liquor license soon so I will be back to try their mimosas during brunch again. The breakfast was filling without being heavy. The lemon ricotta pancakes that I had a chance to taste were light and fluffy with delicious ricotta. I will definitely return.
Food is mediocre at best. Coffee was decent with feel good presentation, however came before food instead of after which is what I wanted. Dont order the spicy chicken sandwich as there is no hint of spice. I could taste the boiled flavor of chicken which was disgusting! Here are a few things the owner/operator needs to be mindful of:1) Asking for tips before rendering services defeats the purpose. Its integrated within the QRC code enabled food ordering process, up front.2) The QRC enabled ordering process forces you to order everything in one go and closes the tap, leaving no option to add food/drink at a later time or land all your orders on one check. This is unintelligent. I prefer my coffee warm and like to drink after done with eating, yet I dont want to end up with multiple receipts. How do you stagger food/drink order? Its not like you can ask or talk to anyone without getting up from your chair and walking over to the service desk (and why would anyone want to do that?). Its all done over the QRC reader. No waiter came by to ask for water. The first time a waitress came to the table was to serve my wife coffee followed by food shortly thereafter.3) Serving water should be customary, or checking with patron at least once or twice during meal. Feels likes a scam when you ask for tips up front while customer service is not part of the plan.
The food was delicious, but unfortunately the four orders for our table came in uncoordinatedly and the service overall was poor. First one coffee, cold. 10 minutes later the other two coffees, cold too. 10 minutes later my beverage in a bottle, no glass. We had to ask the waitress to bring us some tap water. I understand the reduced staff due to covid, but if they make you make a reservation, they should know how much they can handle.
Horrible Service and pathetic attitude. They add 18% gratuity automatically and all they do is bring food.
Good hearty brunch, some confusion over our coffee order but no serious problems. Tasty brunch options.
The environment is very nice, the staff are very kind, but the service is relatively slow. We ordered a late, a bottle of water and tea, and waited like 20 minutes for them.
SO nice!! I mean the beverage I had (matcha latte with oatmilk) was pretty textbook and it was made perfectly well, but the employees. THE EMPLOYEES.I struck up conversations with all three people working during my visit and it totally set the mood for mine & my friends time there. They were personable yet respectful. (I know It sounds like Im milking the appreciation too much hahaha, but I was having a rough week and it really boosted my energy.)But YEAH, here are the CliffNotes. Super friendly. Clean & tidy. Efficient service. Definitely will be my go-to cafe any time Im in Cambridge. :)
The food’s good but also overpriced and something i can make at home. the staff’s very inconsistent as far as friendliness. tommy, the manager, is very friendly but i’m not sure if he’s still there. expect to wait an extra 15 mins from the time your online order is supposed to be ready and don’t expect an apology or “thanks for your patience” from the staff.i would come here 2-3x a week and spend at least $25 per visit, so i at least expect some friendliness from the staff.
Coffee is okay. They food and menu is what stands out. But the I honestly don’t understand why it takes so long to make the food. I work in food industry and it shouldn’t take 20 mins plus for one sandwich.
I love this place for the most part. The food and coffee are each great. That being said, I do not appreciate the fact that one of the managers feels that it is ok to make up “Covid restrictions” on the fly, labeling such restrictions as legal regulations.I was told that I could not change tables due to “Covid restrictions.” I asked to change my table because the door was open and it was freezing. No, the real reason you didn’t want me to change tables (there were several empty, maybe 7) was because you didn’t feel like setting up a new table. I work at a restaurant. I know what is ok and what is not ok, inside and out. This was just ridiculous and pure laziness.Of course, I want restaurants to be safely managing during this time. But not taking advantage of paying customers.
They allow reservations for the tables without the reserved sign. This creates confusion as they will ask you to leave the table for those who reserved it online, without you knowing the table was reserved.
Had some delicious coffee with a side of a warm delightful cookie. Steven and Tommy were so helpful and kind. Such warm souls really. Beautiful place.
I went in wanting a milkshake which they didnt have but the barista recommended an iced milo which was close enough and so so good 🤩
So in love with this place food and coffee are amazing !
Was a huge waste of money, service was horrible, food was disgusting, would never ever recommend it to anyone or go there again.
Great ice latte
Good coffee, but waiting times are ridiculous
Sat at the table and waited more then 1 hour to get a cup of coffee and avocado toast. And they didn’t even bring the water to table. Long wait time and bad service
I ordered through snackpass and got a half off discount and the food was amazing. I got the BL burrito with potato wedges and its probably the best burrito I have ever had. I would probably not come again because it is insanely expensive but the food is worth it.
We LOVE this place. Spend hours here. Food and coffee are amazing, and best atmosphere to hang out or study.
I absolutely love it here. The service is unmatched, the coffee is better than any Dunkin or Starbucks, and the food is always warm and tastes like a home-cooked meal. I would say it’s, by far, my favorite place in all of Harvard Square for coffee, food, a home away from home...all of the above. Also, shoutout to Tommy, he is the best and will always take care of you. :)
Gave this place a chance 3 times. During first visit I found hair in my plate, I did not complain about it just left without eating, hoping it was a one-time mistake. Second time I came here the waiter did not let me sit with my cup of coffee ( even that I have ordered a toast from there). Third time I came back and saw a piece of hair in my latte.
I would not get the iced matcha latte. It was super powdery/not stirred at all. Other items are okay.
If any place is worthy of 5 stars it is Bluestone Lane. The food is amazing, great ambience and the service was impeccable! It’s hard to find a place with such great service, from the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. Everyone we came in contact with greeted us with a smile. Will definitely be visiting again!!
Wholesome delicious food with terrific ambience
Was so excited to check this place out and it did not disappoint! The roasted cauliflower sandwich was great and grabbed one of their wellness drinks (the orange one) for later and loved it. I also really like what they did with the space - the greenery is such a welcomed touch!
Still got place but they didnt let us sit. Was 30 minutes from closing.
No. support small/local businesses instead
Amazing place. I like my coffee simple and black. Didn’t realize how good a simple coffee could taste. Great service, and atmosphere. Perfect place to talk business, and catch up with some friends. Try the avo toast or lemon ricotta pancakes. Bomb...
Had to check this place out after seeing all the great reviews and I wasnt let down! Greeted as soon as we entered and the service was on point. Such a wonderful place to enjoy a great espresso! Well definitely be back!
Obsessed with this place!! love studying here, food is amazing, coffee is amazing, service is always perfect:))
The people who work here were incredibly unhelpful. I’ll save you the sob story
Was sorely disappointed- my wife had told me about this new place on Harvard square that had opened up. We went on a Friday early afternoon. There were about 4 other people in the cafe. I was about 4 minutes later than my wife. I sat down, and my wife shared that she saw a table for 4 that she wanted to sit at- the cafe was virtually empty- and was told by the waitress that the table was only for 4 people. The waitress directed her to a smaller table. 5 minutes later, she sat a couple down at the table for 4. We thought that was strange. After ordering our dishes, we waited over 15 minutes for out orders to come out. And the food was cold. On top of that, my wife informed the waitress afterwards about the food being cold, and she responded with a 1 word answer sorry The prices are pretty high for the food - not worth the time or the money, if you ask me.
