Best real coffee shop in buffalo area. The black coffee options like pour overs are all great and rich. The milk options are really good too because the espresso is super good. I appreciate the healthy sweetener alternative such as real maple syrup. Cozy seating. Recommend all the way!!
Amazing cafe! Super cute, huge selection of coffee, tea, and other drinks, all homemade down to the syrups! Theyve even got nitro cold brew on tap. I had only had it once before and couldnt remember what it was like, so Emily the barista was kind enough to give me a taster of both nitro and regular!I also appreciated the selection of vegan and gluten free baked goods (about half of the baked goods on offer). I got the chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious!I worked on my laptop here for a couple hours which was great. Free wifi, lots of outlets, and a variety of tables. Most ppl seemed to be regulars who got their stuff to go, so there were always plenty of places to sit. This will be the first of many visits for sure. It would be more if I lived closer!P.S. love that its woman owned and operated 😍
Very cozy inside. The sweet bee latte is amazing
Nice place. Excellent staff. Id recommend the Sweet Bee Latte.
Liked the vibe and the staff. Even got some extra free coffee out of the deal:)
This place has an amazing selection of tea! Everything I’ve ever order here is fantastic.
The place is very cute and airy and the service was friendly. The espresso tasted great but my cappuccino had no foam. The scone had good flavors but was dry.
My favorite of the coffee shops I visited while I was in Buffalo. This is a newer establishment but they definitely know what theyre doing. The place is rather small but has ample seating regardless. The environment was very nice and calming. There was street parking available. It was located in a nice area. They offer a small number of pastries which I like.I only encountered one employee during my visits and they did an excellent job. They were very helpful and even made me a list of things to check out during my stay in Buffalo and they were actually pretty cool places too. They served Overwinter coffee which is a very good roaster based out of Buffalo.I had brewed coffee both times. One was the Ethiopian done by pour over. The other was The Easy Drinker done by drip. Both were 10/10.I highly recommend this place to those looking for a more modern, coffee-forward take on coffee.
Amazing little coffee shop! Been getting the cold brew lately, and my girlfriend is a big fan of the vanilla iced lattes. I also met the local celebrity dog, Neil Pat, here, so you know its good!
Love this little coffee shop. Workers are always inviting, and selection of coffee and tea selections get refreshed regularly. Ambience sometimes too quiet to feel comfortable doing work, but overall great place.
So cute! Not a large place but super relaxed for sipping tea or coffee. The barista was so friendly and we had a great time knitting and catching up. I recommend the Peaches and Cream drink (cant remember the exact name) but it was so delicious without being overly sweet
Great Coffee! Great Service, Great People. I was in town on business and spent time learning about all the different kinds of coffee and how it works. Not only is the coffee amazing but the owners know their stuff. Its not just a business, you can certainly tell its their passion. Cant wait to visit Buffalo again.
Super charming little cafe conveniently located on Hertel Ave. The pastries and honey bee buzz are delicious! Quick and friendly service, too. :)
My review isnt based on the cafe itself as Ive never been inside, but instead on the business having experienced them via stand at the North Buffalo Farmers Market. I ordered two cold brews for my partner and I. His was black and mine was made with almond milk. They had Stevia packets available as well. For food- a very limited baked goods selection which I did not try.Their coffee has a very unique taste; the brew itself (just black) highlighted the notes of the coffee but it had a very light and almost tea-like taste to it. Very good. Robust and bold isnt the only way coffee can succeed. I sweetened mine up slightly with the almond milk and our coffees were both very refreshing. The staff working at the time were two women, both very friendly and very engaged with themselves, the transaction and the customers needs all at once. They seemed to be genuinely kind so that was just as refreshing as their cold brew. I was glad to see their stand there!
Had a delicious Latte. Cute cafe that serves wine and beer right on the Hertel strip. Highly recommend.
On a coffee tour with my sisters. This was our first stop! We ordered a cinnamon vanilla iced latte with almond milk and it was delicious. Didnt have to add anything to it. Very smoothe.
Best coffee Ive had in Buffalo. The pour over was perfection. My wife got the ginger lime tea with a splash of oak milk- also amazing. As a vegetarian I very much appreciate the vegan muffin and cookie options. The vegan cookie is huge and perfectly cooked. Im looking forward to coming back the next time Im in town!
Fab little place in N Buffalo. The honey ginger lemonade was wonderful and had the best oatmeal cookie I have had in a long time! The staff even warned it up .my daughter had a wonderful cold brew. Definitely will return
Nice quiet place to enjoy coffee and do work. Outdoor seating available too. I ordered London fog iced coffee and really enjoyed it. I also bought a growler and filled it with cold brew coffee to go.
Good Coffee and atmosphere. My pumpkin muffins was really good too, perfect match for my coffee. What A Lovely coffee break. will return.
Very quaint and personable coffee and tea shop. I liked the simple menu and clean area. Great service and quality pastry options. The only reason its not 5 stars is the size of the seating area. No privacy at all. Still not bad neither. I will be back.
I love it here! Great coffee and tea drinks, and great pastries - most of which are vegan and gluten free. The lighting is great, and its usually busy but Ive always been able to find a place to sit. There are many outlets, and the wifi is fast. I hope theyll offer some savory food options sometime soon, but they dont seem to have much (if any) of a kitchen so I can see how that would be difficult. Everyone who works here is really nice, knowledgable, and accommodating. Glad to have found them in North Buffalo!
I LOVE Roots!!! The vibe is casual and neighborhood-y, the coffee and tea is *delicious*, and they have gluten free/vegan pastries that are just as great. Its so friendly, while still having amazing products. Couldnt recommend it highly enough!
Amazing quiet place to grab coffee and get some work done. Coffee is great and so is the service! Highly recommend
Roots is very comfortable for working for a few hours or for a quick drink with a friend. The seating area is small and can get a little loud, but it has never been too loud to focus. Plus, its a coffee shop, not a library.I really enjoy the pour-over coffee. I had forgotten that coffee could be good on its own until I tried the easy drinker. The kombucha is pretty good, too.
Delightful little spot! I particularly enjoyed the coldbrew strawberry pour-over! Staff was very friendly and answered all my questions and provided recommendations! I also bought a chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate banana muffins to go, I love that there were vegan options 💕 Im looking forward to coming back for another delicious drink creation!
Couldnt recommend this place enough. Every staff member is welcoming and friendly, always takes the time to chat a little. Theres something for everyone to enjoy, with plenty of vegan options in the baked goods or drinks. The store itself is so cozy and comfortable. They always have soft music playing- its the perfect place to relax with a delicious espresso or a Snowy Owl kombucha and get some work done or just watch the busy Hertel traffic. I absolutely love it here.
Good coffee. Quaint atmosphere. No privacy with seating though which would be nice. Overall decent neighborhood coffee shop.
Worth it! I came here right from the airport to caffeine up before visiting family. The latte with oat milk and a shot of homemade vanilla was perfection. The vegan choc chip cookie was delicious. Its a super clean and cheerful modest space. The barista was kind and spot-on with her recommendations.
Wonderful coffee shop! Delicious coffee, very friendly and quick. Plenty of space to sit and relax if need be and has such a quaint relaxing vibe. Perfect addition to Hertel and Buffalo
Always great service and tasty snacks. The coffee is always fresh and the hot chai is very good as well.
Very cute and quaint. Like a little boutique! Very quiet, free wifi, mugs you can buy with a free fill of coffee, nice service and vegan and gluten free snacks! Solid place for a quick stop :)
Ever since I took a trip to Oregon, I’ve been on a mission to find coffee that could compare. THIS is it. Look no further. Best lattes in the Northeast!
Great atmosphere, really enjoyed the golden milk with a shot of espresso and the chocolate chip cookie was outstanding!! Owners are friendly and inviting, and are locals in the community.
Love this coffee shop! Gluten free options, great espresso, WiFi and outlets!
Great space. Wonderful atmosphere! Delicious
Best coffee in buffalo, with the best tasting dairy free options!!! Also pastries are delicious and also offer GF and vegan options! The almond milk cappuccino is my favorite :)
This place had not only great customer service but a great environment to sit and relax as we planned our next year ahead. I had a chai latte and my husband had a matcha latte both were quite good. We switched to kombucha when we saw that it was on draft. Sooo good! They also sell growlers.
Cute cozy place with great cappuccinos and specialty tea lattes!
We ordered a cinnamon vanilla iced latte with almond milk and it was delicious.
Awesome little coffee shop with a great dirty chai
Delightful cafe for coffee, tea, and sweets. Located across the street from the Lexington co-op on Hertel Avenue, this cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, with a variety of drinks and vegan options as well.
Super cozy and has began and gluten free treats! The coffee beans are from out of town- upstate I believe...
Great coffee, the apple cinnamon scone was amazing and super nice staff in a cozy atmosphere! Would love to come back at one point!
Great addition to Hertle! I recommend the blueberry or sugar plum cold brew and the gluten free banana chocolate chip muffin :) But everything is amazing, staff and atmosphere are great!
Coffee was great, their vegan/gluten free pumpkin muffin was fabulous
Great coffee and limited pastries from the Blue Eyed Baker
Very cozy coffee shop, nice staff, good coffee and milk alternatives and delicious baked goods!

Best coffee shop in town!
They make tea right. Nuff said.
Solid coffee shop
Very gourmet
First coffeeshop in Buffalo where I feel welcoming and their staff do not look at your skin color. They are so nice, greeting and smiling spreading good vibes.A very different place, I like this place. Its cozy and the vegan options are the best, at least they do not look like rocks like in other places.
