Discovered Descent into Gaming today as an accident. It has a great selection of DnD supplies as well as board games and comics.The staff was really friendly and greeted us as we walked in.I highly recommend them

People are nice. Shop is decent but there is a probationary 3 day (at least) “incubation” period for those selling cards in which you must leave your items with them. Then they will email you an offer. Not sure if it applies to other collectibles, I just don’t feel comfortable leaving my property with strangers.

Staff is super helpful. Trying to find Pokémon cards for my daughter (which I know nothing about 🤣) they made it painless and helped me get what I needed at the best price. Never tried to sell me things I didn’t need.

Great place for gaming supplies! If I had to pick something they could improve on, it would be the price of some items are significantly higher than online pricing. I understand inventory costs more and I am willing to pay, but some items are just so much higher. I have to buy them online.

Descent Into Gaming and Darkside are both inherently good shops. Descent Into Gaming provides a more intimate, warm atmosphere, while Darkside I think is more equipped for larger crowds and gaming sessions. How cool is it that we have two great stores so close? The owners of Descent Into Gaming are welcoming, and I like the covid protocols the store is taking. I also love all the d&d stuff at this store, and I will probably be responsible for buying out their dice stock! I also want to give props to their comic selection. It is exactly what I was looking for when I walked into a game and card shop, and they had no problem with my friends and I spending a few hours looking through their books. Theyve got a few nice vintage books too. Descent Into Gaming just feels like a really great neighborhood shop!

Prices are high on singles but staff was friendly. Buy offer on pokemon was super low. Overall as a seller beware but as a buyer they get the nod.

Its been a while since Ive been in the store because of Covid. They are still open and are still awesome. Thanks for being Bradentons best comic and gaming store. Hope to be in on Friday nights again soon.

Im a comic guy so Ill just speak to that although they have a ton of different games as well.Really great store for comic trades and new releases. Variant covers as well. Definitely check them out if you are in the area.

Staff is chill, and I feel at home. I havent had any issues except my pokemon cards are still a bit pricy. I dont mind supporting my local store by paying a premium, and I know product is hard to find but thats why the one star is missing =( If prices go back to somewhat normal you get the star back ^^ Really happy I found these guys though.

The people that work here are great. And its a great shop for collectors. Im just extremely disappointed that some of the newest items here are being sold at a scalpers price if not worse. Im not originally from the area and normally shops like these up north always have your back in terms of price, stock, knowledge, and getting you the best deals. These guys seem like they are part of the scalping problem with the random piles of inventory laying around back... Probably bought from local retailers and are trying to sell for profit. Takes the fun out of collecting. And the guys working there tried passing it off as a supply and demand issue. If I really wanted to, I could go camp out a target and get what I want for actually MSRP. Decided to give Descent a chance and just felt screwed over in the end. Ill stick to camping out stores from now on and come here as a last resort. If its even worth it at that point. Hopefully this review saves someone a trip hoping for MSRP prices. Happy searching!

Its a really great local game store that is run by wonderful people. They are always helpful and knowledgeable. If they dont have something that you are looking for they will order it for you. Their location on SR70 makes it easy to stop by on my way home from work. They have a great selection of board games as well as comics, d&d books, and miniatures.

Awesome place! Card games, comics, Tabletop games, minifigures galore, dice and friendly staff. Perfect for local game supplies! With Covid, they ask everyone to wash hands and arent holding gaming events currently, but that encourages safety. I cant wait to eventually even more when restrictions are lifted!

Save yourself the headache and just go to Darkside. I made it abundantly clear that I was just getting back into standard format Magic after several years out, and not only did they have none of the cards I was looking for, the guy had basically zero knowledge of the product. After trying to find a way to support a local business and failing, I decided to buy a $100 box of the 2020 core set. Enter Darkside, they informed me that the cards I was looking for had just rotated out, along with the set I had just spent $100 on. Not only did Darkside hook me up with a new box, they got me a few freebies. Go to Darkside, and ask for Aaron.

The only constructive criticism I can say is the place is rather small, which I get being a small business owner, but having tournaments with large crowds gets stuffy.

I loved the atmosphere and selection of games. While there I found some old favorites and some new board games. On top of that my husband loves going for their round table games he gets the chance to enjoy the company of like minded strangers and I don’t have to pretend to know anything about D&D or Magic game 😂

The people working there have been very helpful. My twin 7 year olds are starting to play Pokemon now and they have helped me set up their decks.

Love the place, I come every week and the people here are friendly. I have bought many MTG cards here for their fair prices and the people there have also helped me construct a commander deck and even play test it. I highly recommend the place for newcomers and people who have experience in MTG or any other card game as I frequently see people playing Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh

Wasnt very impressed. Has a pretty small selection of board games, and not a lot of interesting titles. Also is terribly organized. The few board games they do have are arranged in a maze-like configuration and there are random boxes everywhere.

Wonderful local comic book shop with lots to offer from trading card games to table top games. They also hold lots of events and tournaments. Management is very helpful and friendly.

Deciding to go back and alter my review, I can safely say that Descent into Gaming is a wonderful establishment with a friendly atmosphere, and the owners Gene and Stephanie do everything in their power to assist you with anything you could ever need. They finally moved into a bigger location and while it is further away from where I live I just definitely worth the trip.

Normally I Love coming here!! The Owners are fantastic, but today was A Horror show!! The employee that was working had her dirty and Im talking grossly covered with dirt on the counter. Which is absolutely Disgusting and Inappropriate for a Business environment!! I Normally do not judge, but Her appearance was disheveled at best. Working in a place when you are seen and interact with Customers, your appearance should be Kept up. She was the Exact opposite And I can not stress enough how her dirt covered feet were on the counter and then do sell some food!!! Yuck!! I hope this is rectified or I can not return!!!

Bought a couple board and card games here. They had a nice sale that saved me a bit. They were having some Magic and Dragonball events that night and the place was packed. Couple who ran the place were very kind and helpful, they recommended a few other games for my bucket list!

This is an okay store for gamers. But it has more merch (figures, comics, and manga) than it does actual games.

This place changed everything for me. I live in Tampa Florida right by USF and the game shops there weren’t fit for a new magic player like me. I walked into this store with my boyfriend and his siblings and INSTANTLY felt like this place was going to be where I spend my time and money. It is a larger store than the ones in Tampa and had so much more to offer, especially the people who work there!! They remembered me by name and it was the second time I was there! I felt like I mattered and was welcomed into the community. I did my first ever pre-release/ limited event and event though I lost all events, I had the time of my life and learned so much. I feel like I made plenty of new friends and the environment was so positive and welcoming from EVERYONE there! I will 100% do all of my events here. I don’t care about the drive because the community that this store builds is worth more than going to a store in Tampa. 10/10 would recommend and anyone who is questioning if they should go here or somewhere else, COME HERE!!!!!!! I look forward to getting better and learning more about the game with all of these wonderful people!

Nice, if limited, selection of games and toys. The crowd and staff are wonderfully welcoming and friendly. The gaming tables certainly can feel a touch claustrophobic during big tournaments.

I was unaware this store was here until I happened to spot it while visiting somewhere else. Our visit was fairly brief, but initial impressions were very good and I suspect we are likely to return in the future. (After leaving, my daughter said that she felt a lot more comfortable there than she has at other similar stores in the area.)For now, the rating is a like rather than a love because the relatively small size of the store (approximately half of which appears to be set aside for actual gaming) has the unfortunate side effect of limiting what can be on display. The selection appeared good, including both familiar names (E.g. Carcassonne, Pathfinder, Warhammer, Risk etc.) together with others that were completely new to me. The friendliness of the staff strongly suggests that they would be very happy to help if youre looking for something specific, and know their products well enough to provide meaningful guidance if you arent.

Stopped by because I was in the area and was amazed at this gem of a lgs. They were running multiple events (yu-gi-oh and magic) and everybody was very friendly, especially the staff. Their prices were fair, they had open table space for casual play, and they even had board games in the back if you wanted to walk in and play. Ill definitely be stopping in next time Im in the area!
