Great place to shop for appliances. Worked with Richard and his customer service was awesome. Prices were fair and Richard went out of his way to follow up until every was installed. Richard even called the installer that he has never used or met to personally thank him. I would highly recommend Hawthornes of Birmingham.
Ewan is very helpful and honest, and they have a great selection. Much better than a big box or online.
National appliance delivery delays are for several months and counting. That would have been okay if I wasnt told 3 weeks. Would have appreciated having that knowledge.
Loved the service however not a lot of selection in what we were looking for.
We ordered a stove and we are very pleased with the item. Our sales person Susan Schultz was nice to work with. Like everyone during this difficult period it took much longer than expected to receive the item. However, every time we called to check on delivery Susan was very patient and explained that she would let us know as soon as the appliance came in and she did.
We ordered a dishwasher online. They canceled the ordered without ever telling us since the model they listed as available was out of stock. When we went to the store for details and asked why we were never contacted, they said it was our fault for ordering online.
Buyer Beware. We have been waiting on a dryer we purchased in the end of October and it’s now February. At the time, we had come in wanting a different brand of a washer/dryer pair. They told us they were back ordered and that you can’t get them so they sold us another very expensive brand. They told us it would be a few weeks. We have the washer but not the dryer but paid in full at the time of purchase for all of it. We just called for the millionth time and was told that there are people ahead of us on the waitlist from August. So when we purchased it, people had already been waiting two months at a minimum for the set. But they said it was only taking a few weeks. We would have never purchased it if they had been honest. We decided to purchase the same dryer yesterday from Lowe’s and it is arriving tomorrow. And Lowe’s didn’t take payment in full up front. We will now be returning the dryer from Hawthorne. Their salesman lied through the entire process and never returned our calls. We found out about the waitlist from a different salesperson. We will never do business with them again.
As it should intimate of COVID, the store was almost empty of people. We got personal service from Stewart.
My first time buying here and NEVER AGAIN. The sales person, Richard, was NOT honest and told me and my husband that the dishwasher we purchased would be available in max 10 days and then two weeks later they told me it wouldn’t be available until October. Buyer beware these people just want to make a sale and don’t care about meeting expectations.
I made a rating here a few weeks ago after an experience that wasnt great, but I had hopes they would follow through on what they promised. Today Im editing my rating from 3 stars to 1 star and adding this comment. Its been weeks and multiple calls and they did nothing until I went to the store again, unless you can find something at a big enough discount to make up for the headaches there are places that are better.
The customer service in purchasing the appliance was fine. Prices are higher than in a store like Best Buy or Sears but they have higher end appliances and (I thought) better service. Not so. I will never buy another appliance here. We purchased 2 dishwashers and 1 range in August of 2018. It is now June of 2019 and weve had to have a service call on the range and one of the dishwashers. This is where the trouble comes in.Scheduling a service call is a nightmare. When you try to schedule it on-line you get a confirmation email that someone will call back within one business day to make an appointment. I made 4 on-line service requests, 2 for each appliance with no call EVER coming back to me to set up that appointment. When I called and finally made it through a phone tree it was a hassle trying to get an appointment and because I couldnt find the serial number on the dishwasher they wouldnt make an appointment. I had to talk to a supervisor to get the appointment.When I finally made it through the phone tree for the range they said they would call the company that made repairs on the range and that company would call and get me an appointment, that never happened. Its now been over a week since my range stopped working and I am FINALLY in contact with the company that can do the repair and I have to wait another week for them to come out.In the future we will be buying appliances from a company that follows through on service AFTER the purchase.

I bough a beautiful Maytag front load washer from Hawthorne in May and paid for installation. The salesman was fine and explained well. The delivery was a nightmare! The first one was damaged and returned for replacement before they even took it off the truck. That was good.When the next one arrived, the delivery men took it off the truck and put it on the pedestal but that was all. HOW CAN YOU USE A WASHING MACHINE THAT ISNT HOOKED UP??? My adult son was there and asked if we could use the same inlet hose, as it was hard to remove from the pipe. So rather than them removing the old hose, they left it. and they left. I called the store but no help there, either. We couldnt find the electric cord. It was in a sealed compartment. I still dont know if its level properly (had to go out and BUY a level). BTW: Hawthorne never refunded my installation fee. Id never to to that store again - ever.
Robby Goode is awesome.My experience from years ago was that this place deserved a 1 Star. About 2 years ago, I went back because I heard Robby was helpful. I have needed to purchase 7 different appliances over that time for rental properties, and each time, he made it easy. He helped me find the optimal one, and set up delivery.Years ago, the computer system kept messing up my name along with delivery address. Whether at that time it was the system or the user, I’m not sure. I know now though that Robby has taken care of all my needs, usually within minutes.

I very rarely write a negative review on anything. Things happen, life happens, I get that.I’ll also preface this by saying I try to shop local whenever I can, even when it costs more to support small business.Salesperson: wonderful to work with, knowledgeable, knew the products & helped me decide on a product in short order.Installation: a nightmare. I sat at my house day one for 3 hours. I was told 7am to 8:30 am delivery window so I moved work appointments to 10 and after. I received a call at 11 they were on the way. The dryer installer called me every 30-45 minutes from 7 am to 11 am to see if it was there to hook up. They were supposed to be timed together.Day 2: was told I would be one of the first stops close to 7 am. It’s now 4:30 pm and I haven’t been able to leave my house.The dryer installer called at 7am, 8am, 9am & 10am. At 10am I said I would call them when the dryer arrived.I called store to ask them to keep the washer and dryer & issue a refund. Told I would be called back by a manager.Receive call from delivery company at 11 am saying I was bumped up from 4pm (4pm?!) to noon delivery.1:30 (not 7am to 10am) washer and dryer arrives.4:30: 3 calls into installer, 2 calls into store. No call backs. Dryer not installed.Result: I have a non functional washer & dryer. I haven’t left my house at all. I can’t get a manager on the phone. 14-15 hours of time wasted.Good store to visit to make a decision. Make purchase elsewhere or take delivery from store with your own truck.Update 8-12-18 - I was told on 8-11 I would receive a call “first thing in the am” & the company hooking up the dryer would be over on Sunday. It’s 8:28 pm, no call from the store, just received a call from hookup company.Still not hooked up. They said they could hook it up at it after 9 am, I work. I told them to come get the washer and dryer anytime Monday, they’ll be at the curbUpdate 8-14 8amDryer installed, two different guys showed up independently to hook it up & neither were aware of the other.5 days total spent on receiving & getting hooked up a washer and dryer.
Robby Good helped me to buy a queen size bed and It was delivered the next day! I have slept great since he helped me choose the perfect bed for me! Definitely recommend this place.

Walked in at 5:00 pm and purchased a new refrigerator. At 7:00 am the following morning it was delivered and hooked up. Works great, looks great and it was on sale. Sam the manager made it all happen. All good if you ask me.

I recently bought a Bosch Dishwasher from Hawthorne. Our salesman, Bob, was fantastic. I originally went in thinking I would get a Viking, but after 5 minutes with Bob, he had me sold on why Bosch was better. He was so knowledgable and not pushy. Bob would definitely get 5 stars.The delivery was mediocre at best. They unboxed the machine outside in the rain and then left everything in my front yard. At least the machine made it in without damage. Had the delivery people not made a mess of trash out front, this would have been a total 5 star experience. I realize garbage isnt a big deal, and all I had to do was clean it up. Its just not appreciated when buying a product.
This store was one of the best jobs I ever had!!! Broke my heart when Kitchen Glamour was fased out that was my dept. The hole store is very nice and employees very helpful would definitely recommend Hawthorne 🤗

I worked with Richard Applebuen 12/19/2018... Excellent salesman. He was very knowledgeable in regards to the TVs. With that said, I saved 2400.00 dollars on a new Qled TV. Will continue to shop there as long as Im in Michigan.

I probably wont stop into Hawthorne Appliance again, despite its convenient location for me. Maybe I was asking the wrong questions...but the guy seemed lazy and uninterested. Maybe he decided I wasnt a buyer. Plus I get the impression their prices are higher, but i wont bother to check because of the poor service.

Extremely pricey. Some of the appliances are the exact same ones that Sears used to sell but theyre refurbished and theyre priced higher than Sears priced them when they were brand new. Somethings wrong with that picture. Maybe you can move your appliances, ABC Warehouse, if you lowered your prices.

A good appliance store, with quality home appliances. They seem to cater to the higher-end market found in Birmingham. The only issue I have with them is they dont have a dedicated installation department, so, scheduling your new purchase can be problematic.

Poor customer service and after sales support. Purchased over 50k in appliances. The earlier sales person Justin was really professional, but he left the company abruptly prior to our delivery. Since then, I have been dealing with Ewan and Sam who are never reachable despite leaving several messages and phone calls. Our range hood cover came in damaged and replacement hood is pending arrival for almost a month with NO PROPER response. Visited the showroom 4 times already in last 1 month for status updates since nobody would return phone calls, yet nothing.I would NEVER EVER purchase anything from this store in the future or recommend anyone.
Theyre Owned by ABC WAREHOUSE! HIGHLY pressured salesman who will charge you even higher than Art Van! They are very very pushy especially Ewan the manager. He yells over the phone, very rude and opinionated. Its easy to hear him from a mile away. I walked over there thinking i can look around, but nope! The salesmen are following me everywhere i go! They harrass you to buy too. Surely, the management is poorly lacking. Avoid this ABC WAREHOUSE place and go to Witbeck.
I ordered a washer and dryer on a Friday that I was promised would be delivered the next day. When it was not delivered the next day my salesman (Joe) called and told me that somehow someone purchased all 9 remaining units right before I made my purchase and that the store would not be able to ship to my washer and dryer until Tuesday of the following week. I was told that the delivery on Tuesday would be before 10 a.m., however the washer and dryer were not delivered on that day until 2 p.m. on that day, causing me to miss a day of work. The washer worked fine but the dryer stopped working two days later. After taking two days to get ahold of my salesman I was promised a new dryer on Tuesday by 10 a.m. (this is two weeks after taking original delivery). After waiting until 10 a.m. on that Tuesday (and missing another half day at work) I called the store and the person I spoke to (Bob) said my salesman was unavailable and that the dryer that was supposed to be delivered to me that day was damaged and that it would take a few more days to get a new one in stock to deliver. When someone else from that store called me (Justin) I was told that they did not even have the dryer in stock that (totally contradicting the story about the damaged dryer) and was not sure why I was told why it would be delivered. I asked for a refund and to return my washer and dryer. I still have not heard from them about my refund or picking up my washer and dryer. Dont bother with this store.
I wish I had read some of the reviews BEFORE I went to this place. Horrible service! I ordered a Capital stove from them two weeks ago. I was promised it will be here within 7 - 10 days. When I called Abu (salesman) he told me he had good news and it might even be in before the 7 days. That wasnt true but on the 10th day when I called to get an update, Abu told me the stove was in the warehouse ready for delivery. On the delivery day no one called to let us know what time it was going to be delivered. Eventually I received an e-mail saying they cannot deliver it because it was unavailable. I called Abu and he informed me the stove was damaged. He promised he will call me back but I had to call him every time because he doesnt keep his promises. When I called him out on that he got upset and told me he can deliver the damaged stove without warranty! Later that afternoon he told me he ordered another stove and it will be here within 3 - 4 days. Today is day 3 and when I inquired I was told it was only shipped on Saturday, so another few days. Hopefully they will have it by Thursday and then deliver it on Friday or Saturday. When I called the manager Rob, he was unsympathetic and basically told me, it is what it is. This is the kind of issues you deal with, with this place. Stay away! Theyre not reliable and trustworthy. I will NEVER buy from them again!

I dont usually review businesses but anyone that does a bunch of business then basically gets looked at like a stranger and told I dont know what to tell you Im a middle man deserves a review. Didnt offer to help even one bit.

This is the worst appliance store in metro Detroit. They sold us four year old products claiming they were new. When we had a problem they said call the manufacturer. The energy credits did not apply because the products had expired for energy credit.........this is a high commission non service based company that is owned by ABC appliance.... The oven was repaired three times. Finally had to buy another one. Go to Sears or Home Depot ...... This place will be out of business in two years.....worst place I have every dealt with
