The entire process was quick and easy. I had an issue with the first car I chose, but everyone worked quickly to resolve the issue. When I arrived at the facility, I was greeted with smiling faces and people eager to assist. In less than two hours, I was taking pictures with my new car, all dressed up in a yellow bow.
Shelby @ the Baton Rouge store is the woman to see!! We came in looking for a particular truck, the one we really wanted was on hold for another client. She kept in touch with us for several days giving us updates. Once the other buyer did not show up and could not be reached, she contacted us immediately. CarMax by far beat the dealers offers. It was an easy process. The staff was polite and understanding. Everyone I dealt with was very helpful. My only issue was that the amount of time it took was a little long but its understandable given how busy they are.
I know you’re excited about the way it looks, drives, the interior and exterior, maybe even the low miles. That was me. But I didn’t follow the ‘signs’ and just didn’t think CarMax would sell me a doozie. PLEASE LOOK UNDER THE HOOD, LOOK UNDER THE CAR, and BRING A KNOWLEDGEABLE MECHANIC WITH YOU before you drive off the lot, even if you have to pay for them to tag along. I wish I had slowed down and waited but I had been car shopping for months and didn’t want to miss out on my dream car. I was just ready to be done with shopping. (Prior to my purchase I asked and it was confirmed that CarMax does not allow pre-purchase inspections from certified off site car shops. You have to buy the car first.) I cannot say more until I decide what I’m going to do with the car I just bought from CarMax. But there are clear signs that it was indeed not inspected by CarMax before my purchase. I’m not a messy person. My words are genuine. I had to write this tonight to hopefully help someone not have to go through what I’m enduring. Will update later. Thanks.
My overall customer experience was great!! We had a little wait upon entering due to an overwhelming amount of other customers but nothing wrong with that. We were then brought the car for viewing and able to test drive, although upon driving we found the tire to be extremely low at 12 psi so we were unable to go far or the allotted time that was given to us. Overall, great experience would buy again maybe just during the day time.
Sales person was great but ever since I’ve been having the suv (for a year) I have had nothing but problems. I have called(no answers) and plus I’m hearing impaired so it’s hard for me to hear on the phone. This is the only vehicle I have. They expected me to leave it there so they can do diagnostics on it and they did once but still didn’t fix the issue. I’ve been up there multiple times and they expect me to drop everything I have when I can’t because i have kids to tend to and can’t rely on people. This is my only family vehicle and I have 5 kids that rely on this vehicle. Just wish there was something they can do.
This is our first time to purchase a vehicle from Car Max. We had an issue with the vehicle. Olivia in the service department really stepped up and took control of the situaltion. She sent the vehicle to a dealer to get the issue resolved. Daily she would call to give us an update on the progress. She contacted Lift to get us to dealership to pick up the vehicle after the vehicle was finished.The Car Max experience from start to finish was better than any car dealership that we have ever purchased/traded in the past. We would definitely recommend Car Max to our friends and family.
Was in and out. My rep, Andrew got me over with there with uber when he found out they couldnt deliver my vehicle to my home. May not be able negotiate but Im not one to haggle. If price is right price is right, Im in and out.
Sales consultant was good no issues there. But my 2020 Toyota Tundra didn’t have an oil change when I got it. I changed it myself oil was severely dark tinted.. Another cost I shouldn’t have had to deal with also the tailgate has something wrong I’ll be bringing it back for warranty there should be a better inspection done on incoming vehicles it’s like they didn’t care. The truck was filthy when I got it but they did say they would reimburse up to 60$ for a detail I’m honestly not worried about it. The online ad said it had 275/55/20. It only came with 18 inch wheels on the limited trim edition.. There are just things that should’ve been took care of and they weren’t which I had to incur the costs. Haven’t had the truck a full month and the rotors are already warped.
This was our 2nd time getting a vehicle from Carmax.. Ms Shelby Skinner was amazing and did a outstanding job in helping with our purchase all the way to closing of our deal. We highly recommend her.

What a horrible experience this was. I sat up an appointment to meet with a salesman on line. When I get there I had to wait because they didn’t save it. While waiting outside for I’d say 5 to 10 minutes it started to rain. I had my little sister with me and because of specific medical conditions of hers I left. I received a call back asking where I was. Me and the salesperson had a conversation of what I was looking for. They only had 1 vehicle that matched what I was looking for. She offered to send me a picture of the vehicle. She proceeded to take a front picture of her computer with a picture of the vehicle on it. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a car dealership.
I went in on a Saturday to get my car appraised. Scott helped me. He was a delight to work with being both informative and high spirited even though they were very busy. I came in again on Tuesday to sell my car. The women at the sales desk made it quick and easy. Overall a very smooth process.
My fiance and I went here looking to buy a car last week. It was SO HARD to find a car sellsman who would 1) actually try and sell us a car 2) when a guy literally what it seemed, PAWNED, us onto one..you could tell that he WAS NOT HAPPY to have to SELL US A CAR!! So I just want to sit here and brag on willie he was the absolute best car salesman I have every had with any of my vehicles. I ended up getting the Lincoln mkc and it’s amazing. This man is truly a gem to your company and if you don’t know it you should. He takes customer service to another level. He took time out of his night to stay there until the end of our sale when he didn’t have to to make sure when we came back this was a swift an amazing process. From sitting there explaining every detail to us while financing to just going the extra mile to make sure all of our paperwork and the completion of our sale was complete. I had a bad then good experience this time. We shipped a car in at a cost to review and test drive. Car came in quicker than expected.👍Got a cal the car was detailed and ready so we went. Car was nice and the ride was good but when we returned to take a better look the back area of the SUV had a significant amount of dog hair all over and dog slobber nose prints on the side windows. Disappointed and disgusted. The story ended well as the salesman took it upon himself to clean the vehicle overnight and had it ready for us to review again the next day. We purchased the car mainly because of how the salesperson managed our expectations. Thank you Martins.
Worst car buying experience of my life .. we chose not to buy the 2012 Ford expedition limited that we went there to buy because our clerk/greeter/salesperson told us that they (carmax) would not even consider changing the 2 raised white letter tires they left on this really nice vehicle so that all 4 tires were the same (blackwall) .. it was a 300$ request and I would have paid them to do it because that mismatch made that vehicle look very trashy but before we could even begin the process we were told NO multiple times .. carmax not only lost a sale they lost a future loyal customer as well. They advertise as a new kind of car buying experience and they were right about that ...
I highly recommend carmax! Chardonnay and the girl she was training (I forgot to get her name) got me in a new car very quickly and smoothly! I went in with low hopes as I had went to numerous dealerships with no luck but I left with a car that I’m happy with and enjoy! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I never felt rushed. This was my 1st time ever hearing about this place. It was quick and easy. I will continue doing business here from here on out. Dont listen to the people who calls you from the internet they will tell you everything wrong. The people inside the store is accurate and fast. From start to finish we was there maybe a hour. The purchasing process was and is very easy. Everything can be started from the comfort of your own home. After my car arrived it was there for 2 weeks and I was finally called. I made sure I had everything I needed upon arrival. Once I sat down and with the salesman it took about 30mins and I was transferred to the back to sign my paperwork. Car arrived for me to pick up and I was a lil disappointed because it wasn’t up to par. They assured me to bring it back but I took care of the small issues. After having it for less than 7 hours the check engine light came on. Now I’m upset!!! The next morning I come back to get that taken care of which they scheduled it for a week later. Now I’m waiting for 2 more weeks for them to fix the issue… I think this will be my last purchase here at CarMax.

Buying a car was great and easy and fun. If i could rate individuals i would rate the sales person i rate them 5 stars. Just hope that the car you buy doesnt require service. They tried to sale a Toyota car with a Mazda keyfob. They was willing to replace it at no cost and scheduled an appointment to cut and program a new key to it. The day of the appointment they said we did not schedule an appointment so we had to wait.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!We visited Carmax three times over the course of a month. The first time, we made an appointment to get our truck appraised. It took two hours. Then, we wanted to look into buying a truck. We were told that would take another appointment, which would mean another long wait time. We came in another day to order the truck we wanted. It took another 2+ hours. It was $200 to transfer the truck from TX. We were told it would be here within 2 weeks. The truck got to BR in a week, but when it came in, we were told it had a title problem, and we’d have to wait another 2 weeks for that to be cleared up. When the truck was finally ready, we setup an appointment on a Saturday to buy the truck. We waited an hour and 15 minutes all for them to tell us that we couldn’t buy the truck that day because the financial institution couldn’t be reached to get the payoff on our current truck. At this point, we spoke to the manager who assured us we could come in on Monday for an express pickup. We were told everything would be ready to go when we got there and it shouldn’t take more than 45 minutes. We get there on Monday, and we waited 15 minutes before anyone spoke to us. We were then told more inspections would have to be done on the truck before we could complete the paperwork. After waiting another hour, the paperwork was finally ready to be processed.I have never had an experience like this buying a vehicle, and I will never return to Carmax again. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere, where your time will be respected.
This review is mainly for Kenneth.I had a car transferred on the 17th of June and just received it on yesterday. I had been calling in everyday to see when the vehicle would be ready and was told they were waiting on the necessary paperwork to go along with the title. It honestly felt like a Mary go round, but I understand the dmv may be backed up. When I went to pick up, the entire staff was friendly and inviting. Kenneth was assigned to help me and was able to get me going promptly. Mrs. Ray was also helpful with the ending process!
We sold our 2015 Honda Civic for the highest price offers out there. Carmax beat everyone else by over a grand. I would recommend this place as a go to when it comes to selling your vehicle. It was simple and straight forward, didnt have to wait to be taking cared of. I had no ideas it was this simple to sell a car. Only bad part, we had to guess when it was the right time to take out our belongings from the car. Apart from that, great experience.
Picked a car out online ordered it from another store. Waited for it to arrive and thats when the issues started. This store promised me this car on 4 different dates and then just up and said their service manager couldnt even give me a date to sell it to me bc the windshield needed to be repaired. This went on for almost two weeks of back and forth. They didnt mind running my credit and giving us the run around and wasted our time. Finally ended up buying the car. During the paperwork process the price changed from what was promised in email. The mistake was caught by my husband and car max fixed it, but overall it was a stressful experience, that could have been handled better.

CarMax is the ONLY place to buy a car. Except to be treated with professionalism, respect and gratitude. The experience I had was the very best experience and I highly recommend them.
Everything went smoothly from the greeting (excellent), to the car review (excellent), to the pricing (happy with the offer and agreed to sell), then the test drive...that is where the wheels fell off of the process. Seems that somehow the test driver lost the key to the car! (he drove it and it drove fine he said) We were then left to sit and wait for over an hour while they looked and looked and looked. FINALLY the manager appeared and the purchase was completed. Frustrating that we were forced to wait while they chased their tails looking, as opposed to closing the deal and letting us leave.

I purchased a 2012 Ford Mustang from car max. My first time driving it on the interstate I immediately noticed that I had a Noise in my suspension. I drove the car for a week and then decided to bring it to the service center. They called after 3 days telling me my car will be serviced for a week and sent to Ford . It’s been over a week and I still haven’t gotten a call. It’s a bit upsetting to have cars for sell on the lot without test driving are fully serving them before being sold. I also received a loner that have similar problems. Overall I would recommend car max just make sure they not half stepping with you and sell you a car that you won’t be able to drive after just getting it.

This has been the worst experience I’ve ever dealt with when buying a vehicle. I walked in with a pre-approved letter from Capitol one and it took the transaction 12 days to get completed only after I called Capitol one due to the fact Carmax pulled my credit a total of 13 times which knocked my credit score from a 698 to 544. Each time the sales person insisted they only pulled it once. Declined letters came in totaling the indicated credit pulls and the reason for declining was because Carmax submitted 8 applications and credit one approved the first one, but again they continued to submit applications which Capitol one finally called to see if fraud was going on. Maybe someone else’s experience may be different, but mines was a nightmare. And to make matters worse they submitted the applications on the 4th of July a holiday when I insisted that the financial institution would be closed. The guy approving the credit stated he spoke with Capitol One and they insisted we keep trying. I called Capitol One myself and was told they had no idea what Carmax was doing, but they would approve the vehicle for the loan amount once submitted. Again this was the worst experience I’ve had in awhile when purchasing a vehicle and I own several. Even the appraisal for a trade in was low balled. 2 reputable dealerships in Baton Rouge offered me 28k and the other 28.5k. Carmax only offered 17k with no dents, dings, check engine lights, no interior or exterior damage. I now have 25 inquiries from Carmax alone and have mail from every credit bureau to prove it. I don’t need a telemessenger to respond that we want to help with a number to contact me. Trust me you have all my information if you truly wanted to reach out to me.

My experience with carmax went smooth. I purchased a Honda Accord my wife drove it for 27 days and noticed carmax had put a Toyota Camry on the lot which was the car she initially wanted. On the 28th day we returned the accord and she got the Camry. Keep in mind for the 30 day return policy the vehicle can’t have more than 1500 miles added to the mileage.
Everybody greets you, I was helped by a guy named Willis. Good guy and tries to work with you..they all do. Not to fond of the financial agencies that they deal with but CarMax itself is a good place to check out especially if you really need to hop in a ride with bad credit.

My sales person Mr. Comena was great. The office personnel were well informed and polite. Only issue was getting my check released from the sale of my vehicle. Other than that I would recommend the Baton Rouge store.
Everything went just as smoothly as it was explained over the phone. Quickly got a qoute for my truck. Left, got my title, returned and within a relatively short period of time, had a check for the amount appraised.
I went once to get the appraisal and then I waited until after Jan. 1 to go back and actually sell the car. It was mostly fast and easy. I didnt get as much as I might have selling it on my own, but more than for a trade-in. People are nice and helpful. I did have to sit in a small waiting area with a lady not wearing a mask. Otherwise, it was clean and safe.

Unreliable. I put a car on hold to reserve it and already filled out the paperwork getting it ready to be transferred to me and I later on get a text that it is unavailable. They DELETED my hold/reservation in order to make a quick sale of the car. My uncle works at carmax so I know how this works. It has not even been 12hours yet before they deleted it. With inventory being so strict right now, I can’t believe the manager allowed this to happen. When I called to figure out the situation, the manager was unaware of the situation, did not help, and tried to say a 1 HOUR time change is the reason.... at the end of the day, the car I really wanted is gone and there is nothing else they can help me with.
My experience was amazing. I went to sell my 2017 Audi and everything went as planned. Diane was amazing and wasn’t pushing but was very thorough on my options. I went on 12/30/20 got an offer and came back on 12/31 to sell and that was it!!!! Thanks Diane for an amazing experience.

Scheduled an appointment for June 9th. at 9:00 am brought vehicle in on the day before. I called several times on the 9th to get an update on our Jeep but know body would answer the hone also left messages but know body would call back. Finally had to call corporate. The Baton Rouge CarMax is terrible. After calling corporate we were finally able to get a hold of the service department and they informed us our Jeep will be looked at it thursday. We asked several times about a loner vehicle until the girl finally said they have loner vehicles but we would not get one. I still can’t believe she actually said that.
Everyone was very professional & they seemed well trained to give you a quote within 20 minutes on what they would pay you for your car. The quote is good for 7 days.
Service was great. I loved the car selection. The only reason I gave a 4 star rating is because there was a lot of paint overspray on truck but I will ask them to fix it when I bring it back.
The service center was good. I did run into a problem getting my car registration sticker because my driver’s window was too tinted - it was 35% light transmission and the legal limit was 50% light transmission. However, I went here last year with the same tinted windows and my car was passed. I ended up having to go to CSC to get the legal tint. Then I came back to CarMax to get my sticker. It was a lot of time waste because of CarMax’s mistake.
I was moving to California and discovered at the last minute that one of my vehicles would not pass emissions. I only had a few days to sell it and was told by a friend to try CarMax, so I made an appointment. The whole process took about 30 minutes and I was totally surprised how much they offered for the vehicle. Everyone was friendly (great customer service) and I was blown away about how quick the process was. Highly recommend!
I bought a 2013 Ford Explorer with carmax at a very reasonable price and love the car! Unfortunately there were some minors things wrong with the car that warrented taking it to be serviced at no extra charge. I spoke to sales guy AJ and Kaitlin with repair center and both were very professional, informative and polite! There was another guy i couldnt catch the name of with the payment call center that was lovely to speak to and very informative! I had a great experience with them minus the minor faults in the car.
Jay was my sales associate and he was fabulous! He showed me everything I was interest in without rushing me in any way. I test drove several vehicles and settled on a 2020 Nissan Altima Platinum, and am loving it!!!!
I had a very good experience with CaMax, especially the sales person, Chardonney Gaines. She was awesome. I do have one suggestion, when the sales person is going to get the car for you to try, I would think a golf cart or something similar to ride the sales person would benefit both the customer and the sales person. This would eliminate time wasted. Also took too long the sign the papers to finance, etc. I dont have any suggestions for this but maybe have a few more people working. But of course it was a Saturday and maybe that was the problem.

Your worker was careless and could have cost my, my husband, and my childs life. Your worker didnt put the oil cap back on my car properly. (It shouldnt have been taken off in the first place)My engine sprayed oil all over my engine bay. Luckily I just went short distances and didnt get the engine hot by going home on the interstate.

Was rather painless compared to other car buying experiences. There was a computer glitch which caused delays on the day of delivery of car to my house. All employees I delth with where curtious and understanding even though we where all a bit frustrated by the end. My van so far is everything I hoped for, Im glad I searched around for exactly what I wanted, it did suck having to wait for it to come from another state but worth it! Took a star because of the amount of times I had to enter my info, seems like it could be a bit more steam lined or have an option to save info.
Sales was fantastic. Service after the sale has been pretty bad.I recently purchased the car, Jan 23. When leaving (escorted by the business lady who needed to remove the old plate) we noticed one of the key fobs didnt work. She told me to return next business day (was a wkd so it was Monday I believe) and they would put a new battery in it. Brought it in at open of business and waited 2 hours 😳 to be told that battery was not the issue, tried reprogramming/didnt work, and they would order a new one. They told me it would take a few days and they would call me to collect.After a few days I called and left a message. No return call.Next day I called again. Was advised they would make a phone call to check on it and call me back. No return phone call.Called again, also inquired if this model Expedition was supposed to have a gas cap (if it is, its missing) same story, they would check and call back, again no return phone call.I called the 4th time this am and no answer and a voice mail saying the mailbox is full so I couldnt leave a message.Love the car, you and the sales team were awesome. Very disappointed in the service center. Any chance you could help me resolve this, escalate in some way? It almost feels like they are trying to push me off until after the 30 days CarMax warranty is up...

We were able to review the car and conditions of the deal very quickly. On delivery, a nail was found in one of the tires and I was provided with a very nice convenience car until the tire was brought in and installed. Everyone, without exception, was courteous, professional, and effective.

My experience was fast, easy, and hassle free. I feel Carmax did an excellent job of maintaining a clean lobby. Sanitizing vehicles and desks as well as maintaining social distancing was taken into consideration and carried out well. My sales associate was very professional and walked me through the necessary steps in order to make the buying process super easy. They did so by explaining buying options, whats needed from me before I arrived to eliminate extra, and unnecessary trips to the dealership. Also, they answered questions on their off time. Cant ask for better customer service than that! I LOVE my 2018 Mazda 3 I bought from from Carmax. Would buy from them again.
