Even in the midst of a pandemic we were greeted quickly & with kindness. We went from a vague idea of what we needed to happily placing an order within an hour. The woman who helped us was patient, knowledgeable & very helpful. Our products were delivered as promised, in excellent condition, in less than a week. We built a gorgeous hardscape backyard with the quality products we received. Were DIY all the way, Harting & Sons is now the only place well go for our landscaping projects. I bought some concrete headers and building supplies there. They were friendly, and gave me advice when I asked. I really liked the beautiful displays of stone that they have on site. It made me want to do more stone work! I am a home-owner from Curtis Bay, and have no commercial contracting interests at this time, but its nice to find some place close to home to patronize.One guy wrote a review that complained because he had to wait and they had no computer, but to me, seeing someone writing a hand invoice seemed nostalgic and refreshing. Guess thats a sign of old age. Ha,ha I was very happy to find a local business that offered good values. There are so few family-owned businesses anymore.

I stopped in the shop to inquire about delivery of topsoil. Got great information and customer service. Had the soil delivered- got a call saying the driver was on his way, he showed up when promised, and everything was delivered perfectly. I highly recommend this business.

They need to change there listed hours. If you say youre open untill 4:30 that means you are open to the public till 4:30. I got sent away at 4:20 after racing there after work and they refused to even answere any questions I had to see if they could even help me and if it was worth taking time off work to go back the next day and make my purchases. They lost my business over a 5 minute conversation they didnt want have.

Terrible customer service!! I stood in line for 45 minutes before being helped. They dont use computers and do everything by hand. The owner advised I could return unused supplies but when I came back to do so, they refused to issue a refund for supplies that were bagged, unused and unopened. There is no written return policy on the receipts. Very unfriendly and unhelpful!! Dont waste your time driving there. There are much better places outside of Baltimore that actually want your business.

Very impatient on the phone. I need to inquire some information in regards top soil. The lady who answered the call was not interested in answering my questions nor making things clear for me when I didnt understand. She was rushing to hang up the phone. I am not sure she is interested in new customers.

Im a homeowner that loves the hardcore DIY thing. I have been doing business with these guys for more than 12 years through 3 different homes. Now I live 2 counties away, but I keep returning. The place has a great feel to it. Its a lot like my old hometown hardware store (from a million years ago) in rural Indiana. I gather that everyone working there is a family member, or close to it. If youre the self-important type, you might get frustrated that the place seems too busy to address you right away. A little patience pays off- walk right up to someone at the desk and politely tell them you need to speak with someone, and they will get to you when they can. If you just stand around and say nothing, they leave you alone for hours. Actually, I find it refreshing. This is a no pressure atmosphere, making it wonderful for getting some inspiration. Its generally buzzing with contractors and regulars, so the staff stays busy and big trucks and heavy equipment are all over the place. Its worth waiting for someone though because they are about the friendliest folks in retail I know of. They are extremely versed on the products they carry, and the techniques for getting proper results. They can also price out your job in a flash. All that time you were wrapping your brain around lot quantities, delivery, installation, and needed materials for your project will be lost in a few moments once they whip out that old adding machine. Like I said, its worth the wait. The selection is nearly second to none. They carry all the EP Henry products, plus a nice selection of boulders, cut stone, flag stone, bluestone, gravels, and you name it. If they dont have it on their lot, they can either get it, or know where to get it. Delivery has always been pretty fast, and they can usually put the product right where you need it if they have access. I hope this place stays in business for many more years because its sorely needed in the era of big box stores. It just feels right giving them your money because they earn it. Interestingly enough, they are usually priced better than the box stores for a product that is often superior. Add personalized service and an old world charm, and who could ask for anything more?
