I had a super enjoyable experience at Uptown. I went to sell for the first time. I had Free People, Coach, Daydreamer, Rails, Steve Madden clothing, shoes, and handbags to sell. I had read and called to get a feel for what they buy. I understood they would buy what sells well at their store, the time, the trends, and everything needed to be in good condition. Bailey explained everything to me - and she was engaged and super friendly. I waited in the store about 30 minutes. As I waited, I looked around. I LOVED how clean and organized everything was. I could easily shop by color and size. The quality of the clothing and variety was great!! Staff asked if I needed any help as I wandered around. I loved the selection of tops, sweaters, and shoes (boots)!!! Checkout was easy. They did find things they could sell there ( it’s used clothing, so I accept whatever they offer) and would donate my other items to Purple Hearts, a veteran organization they donate to !! They go to Houston on the weekends with a trailer and take clothing and accessories for vets and the families., I LOVE that. I will be shopping and selling there in the future - to participate in their recycling commitment to help the planet. Thanks to Uptown Cheapskate crew and company.

Consistent great experiences both selling and buying! I have sold here many times and always feel like what I’m given is fair, plus I love that they will donate anything they don’t take for me. I also love shopping here- they have quality items for a great price.

I’m hesitant to share how great this place is because of how it feels like a secret gem. Every time I go I find some sort of clothing treasure and the people that work there are awesome. Its a unique place with unique price ranges. People from all manners of life with any customs or culture could find garments here to match their lifestyle. Limited mens shoes when I visited, but their stock must change quite frequently. If you live nearby, this place should be a staple for your clothing shopping habits. You could find something new every day... They also accept donations and will purchase your old clothes too. Everyone working was communicative, learned, and plain nice. IM SURE ILL BE BACK!PS: As I read through other reviews I also took notice of the owners responses and thoughts. Frankly, there ISNT A MORE DEDICATED, INTELLIGENT, WELL WORDED, AND THOUGHTFUL store owner for ANY business listed on Google Maps. I would come back just for the hopes of meeting such a fine individual. You can truly tell the the passion for this place is UNMATCHED.

Giant banner advertising a sale, which seems to include nothing? I went through the entire mens section and the only sale I saw was buy one get one half off on the cheaper of two mens accessories, of which there is very little selection, and the cashier didnt actually apply the sale at checkout, so everything was full price. Full price being 1/3 to 1/2 of retail: $32 for a jacket, $21 for a sweater, $14 for a no-name belt.Huge selection of worn-out t-shirts, if thats what youre into, but I generally found the mens selection limited. Two rails of jackets, one round rail of vintage, one shelf-end of accessories (a few belts, a few ties). Pretty long lines to check out, considering how many people were trying to and the amount of staff behind the counter, but you cant check out without them taking your phone number, full name, and birth month, so that slows it down a lot. When I got home I realized the cashier didnt actually take the RFID tag off one of my items, so I had to drive back, wait in line again, and drive back home, which is a fair amount of wasted time and gas. The shop advertises sustainability but a lot of their packaging and marketing struck me as wasteful.The idea is that youre getting a quality-over-quantity thrift store, and while I agree they have less selection than a real thrift store, there was a bit too much garbage for me to say its higher average quality, and the prices are obviously far beyond what youd pay anywhere else, so I cant say its worth visiting; youll find more you like for a lot cheaper at a real thrift store. I went to one of these stores in another town and it was much better, since it actually had the better items to justify the price and limited selection, not to mention more selection in general. I get what theyre going for, theyre just not doing it. Ultimately, though, I did find some clothes I liked. Just not much, and for more than I wouldve liked to pay for them. If you wear feminine-presenting clothing you might find more value here.

They curate a really solid mix of fun and sophisticated stuff, they have pretty high standards for what they put on their racks, items are priced appropriately/fairly… These are the things that have kept me coming back for years! Thrifting can get exhausting and kind of suck, so it’s V nice coming to this gem of a place where they’ve already done all the work for you.

Uptown Cheapskate Austin is a local place to buy and sell secondhand clothing. I brought in a bunch of nice shirts and pants to sell, and they price out the items right there while you are browsing in the store. The Austin location didn’t want to sell some of the items so the owner took them to College Station where there was more of a market for the clothes. The owner and I have been in communication where he admitted some areas of growth for the team. I appreciate his willingness to admit improvement areas.

Great place to find some treasures. They have some interesting vintage pieces for women and my boyfriend likes their selection of sports jerseys.

WOW 🤩 my boyfriend and I had a 45 minutes wait for brunch at Kirby so we stopped in to browse the clothing. Having never been before, I had zero expectation beyond killing time. IMMEDIATELY I found myself starting a fitting room and getting pumped as I kept finding high quality, like new, name brand fashion for a reasonable price. You can expect anything from $9.99 to $34.99 range for dresses 👗 (and maybe more if it’s ya know, Gucci or something 😉) and spectacular variety is styles, sizes, colors etc— all thoughtfully curated and organized. I’m very happy with my purchases and the man attending the fitting room even complimented me and have me show the romper to the other employees! I will absolutely be back!

This is one of the best thrift stores I have ever been too first there selection is great the staff is also great the store is very cleaned and well maintained. All I can say is positive things about my experience also I have sold twice to the store and highly recommend this is the place to go if you would like a good experience 5 thumbs up!!!!

Great upscale thrift shop. Today was my first time visiting, and I was so impressed by the variety of sizes and prices! I found everything I was looking for and more! Besides, the employees were kind and helpful, especially the older gentleman who was managing the dressing room area. He really knows how to make people feel welcome and comfortable in the store. I wish I knew his name so that I could give him a shout-out! Regardless, this is a very well-run store with a remarkable variety of fashionable items. I could spend hours perusing the place! :)

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! Really not pleased with the way they price your items! I brought in about 30 pieces of high fashion items only to get $80 bucks then the lady had the audacity to tell me after she cashed me out that some of my items they won’t use but ask me to donate them kept all my hangers! If you not going to use them then giving them back should have been the first priority!

They always have a pretty nice selection of clothes. I visit often and they bring in fresh new items fairly often. I sold some of my old clothes here and the process was simple and easy. They gave a good offer of the clothes they liked and I opted for the store credit (that never expires). I then used the store credit from my sale to purchase some new jeans at an amazing price (over 80% off the retail price).

Wonderful. Lovely. Went in here on my 15 minute lunch break with only 10 minutes left. Was quickly greeted by a sweet, beautiful employee who goes by the name Jona (so cute!). Jona helped me decide which dress would fit best for my special occasion (5 year anniversary of my divorce) and encouraged me to come back to the store anytime! Loved this experience. After selling to them for numerous of years. This is what I feel Uptown Cheapskate has reduced to. Going to be honest here, they dont really take your items individually for face value as a percentage of what they will then resell your items, they will bulk buy each item for $3-4 regardless of how high-end it is. Dont take any designer shoes or clothing in there as you will eventually find its pretty much a big rip off to just throw away good designer clothing. Numerous times I will go back in the store and see it labeled for $55-65 and they bought it from me for $3-4. Youre better than this Uptown! Hopefully people will realize you buying behavior is not honest and needs a head check.

This Uptown has an excellent variety of items from designer, mid tier and affordable fast fashion trends. I’ve had success selling multiple items and purchasing. I recently moved from Los Ángeles and would shop at places like Crossroads and I can compare this Uptown to something very similar...maybe even better. The staff is SUPER friendly which sometimes I find in Buy, Sell, Trade stores is hard to find. Do not expect to come here and pay thrift store prices. These are curated items picked out my the employees which takes them time and helps the customer skip out on all the JUNK hence the more expensive price tag. Overall super excited to keep shopping at the Austin location!

This place is beyond snooty. I have never stolen anything from them. I was actually visiting to sell them some designer fashion items that were basically brand new and the season their team member mentioned they were seeking on previous and first visit to the store. I was impressed the first time with their volume of merchandise though their is much to be done with their smaller sizes which they seem to be in great need of. They have many isles of shoes for giants, but hardly any 7-8s.During this visit it didnt take long for me to notice the older woman staring me down and following me as I browsed for myself and for business purposes since I own/operate rose trade network, a recent start up here in Austin. A large majority of inventory comes from thrift shops and otherwise free sources. And I use a large amount of the revenue to give back to community by hiring and housing felons/others with a barrier to housing and employment.On top of being almost outright accused of shoplifting, the blonde lady at the counter was in a terrible mood, appeared angry and blatantly spoke Ill of myself and my partner right in front of us to her fellow thrift shop associates. It was so embarrassing that I couldnt bring myself to purchase anything and at the end, found myself collecting the $28 they gave for the 5(though Im fairly certain they took additional items) items and left feeling regretful that I even took the time to visit.These people have a lot to learn in business and otherwise in general related to how to interact on a professional level. Good luck to them though they have lost my business.

This place is super cute for a resale shop! They offered me a good amount of money for my stuff and love that they offer more for in store credit. Don’t shop around unless you’re prepared to find a bunch of stuff you’ll end up loving. Super simple and quick buying process. Highly recommend

Hi! Usually i have a great experience selling my clothes in this store! But not this time!! So the first girl who went through my stuff was super nice don’t know her name she gave my stuff to Kristian who actually gave me the offer on my clothes. I simply asked “what was the reason you put back the other 4 articles of clothing bag in my bag and what was wrong with them”? Her reply and quote “ your clothes have to be AMAZING before we can buy anything”. Really!!!!!!!!Is this what you teach your staff to say when customers ask that question!!! I would like a call from your corporate office or owner ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was super rife for her to say such a thing!!!!!!! Will never shop or bring my clothes here ever again!!!! Unacceptable behavior!!!!!! I had brooks brothers shirts, converse shoes, vans shoes, all my clothes are from buckle which are super expensive and nice!! Un real!!!!

As Im in a wheelchair, it was difficult to get through the isles. It is jam packed with clothes. If you have hours to spend there, it could be a good afternoon with a good find. Unfortunately I didnt find anything I couldnt do with out. I dont think I will be going back, but yall have fun.

Great Experience. Took less than an hour to go through four layndry baskets full. If youre selling be realistic, Theyre not going to take evrything. In fact they may take very little. But if youre looking to consign yourself this is a great place to start. Brianna (Buyer) was fantastic, really helpful, friendly and professional.

Very nice staff. They let me down softly. I was going to trade in some clothing, but decided what I was going to trade in was in arguably better shape than what I intended on buying from them. Just took the cash instead. Ill probably be back to buy from them, but I really didnt think my stuff was in any worse condition than what was hanging on the shelves. Maybe it was a seasonal thing.Other than that, great prices and friendly staff.

I love this store! I never spend less than two hours in there, that’s how terrific their inventory is. I also like that they have a significant number of new items for sale. The employees are friendly, happy, wear masks and provide hand sanitizer. (Not all non-food establishments do.). I just bought an adorable leopard print top there, a new item for a reasonable price. It’s a class act!

It’s pretty much an upscale thrift store, where everything is in good condition. I always manage to find something nice most of the time I come here. They have a wide variety of items here, and they occasionally have sales. Unlike some places, their dressing rooms are open during this pandemic. You can also sell clothes to them. I don’t know what the process is because I haven’t done it, but I would keep an open mind and not expect too much.

I love these sort of secondhand clothes shops because it gives people an opportunity to sell old clothes and pick up secondhand finds instead of directly contributing to fast fashion. This shop has better variety than the Platos closet in town, and more trendy and reliable than any goodwill. My biggest gripe is that theyve started getting new stuff, it seems, probably from overstocks, which makes it annoying because some are expensive because theyre name brands (ahem, lululemon) and I dont come there to buy new clothes. I come there to be resourceful and eco-friendly, which selling new lulus is not.

Ive shopped at several consignment thrift stores in several major cities across the country and this one stands out for its high end selection. Being in a more affluent part of town, their intake of garments and articles is a bit nicer than other stores in this same category. I was actually surprised by some of the Italian brands that I found there. This store is, however, not immune to the particular smell of most consignment thrift stores. But, it comes with the territory. The about half dozen changing stalls were well staffed and attended to by a very helpful young lady.

Long wait before being told that they were not buying the type of items that I had.Nicestore, but wasted my time.

I had a great time today at uptown cheapskate on south Lamar. I brought in some men’s clothes and ended up trading in for some vintage Ralph Lauren and Levi’s items. I wish they had a few chairs to sit down in, I got tired of standing since I was in there for an hour.

Just sold some clothes here and staff were very nice. Only problem was that I had brought in my high quality designer items because the website said they would not take cheaper lower quality brands only to find old Navy pants and forever 21 items and even Ann Taylor (which the website specifically states does not sell well) on the racks as I was browsing and very limited high end selections. I just wish I hadnt given away all of my lower end casual clothes since that is clearly what they were looking for. But staff was very friendly and I appreciated that!
