I called this dealership to buy a truck. I saw that they had a good price on a truck I was interested in. I spoke with the gentleman that owns the business. I told him that I was located out of state. I have purchased many trucks out of state. This made him very nervous. He had no issue with me paying cash. He was concerned that I would get here and not like the vehicle. I asked him to let me know if anything was wrong with the vehicle. He said he cannot sell it to me. After asking several times for pictures, that he never did send over, I called again later that day and said that I was still interested. He said he wasnt comfortable with selling to someone out of state. I have never had a car salesman refuse cash for one of their vehicles. I explained to him that if I got there and did not like the truck then I would go home, at my own expense. He said he wasnt comfortable with that. The description of his vehicle said that nothing was wrong with it. After talking to him for a minute or two, he revealed that it had a transmission problem. He said he would take it to his mechanic and get back with me in the morning. That was a week ago. I read many reviews about this dealership before my first phone call over. I am sure that he is a good man, but I think he is a horrible car salesman.

We have bought 3, inexpensive used cars from these guys over a 20 year time span. I never have a concern about them being straight shooters and they know where I live!

Had a great experience here! Staff was friendly and not for one moment did we feel pressured to buy. The process was fast and smooth and I appreciated his honesty, which is lacking at many of the smaller dealerships in Austin. 10/10 would recommend.

How likely is it that you will live long enought to rate a used auto shopping experience as five stars? If you deal with Down Under the chances are extremely high. These guys listen well, focus on their customers needs instead of on making the sale, are high on providing information and no pressure. I belive one of the poorer DU reviews speaks to Pats basically discougaging a customer from driving from out of town to purchase a car that didnt fit. I believe that; I dont think Pat would sell a car that he thought would disappoint his customer. Excellent price, attentive and personal service, no pressure: whats not to like. Head and shoulders above their competitors on all important criteria--quality, honesty, ease of purchase and on and on. I can hardly believe I am writing this about a used car guy but its true. Shop here first and save yourself a lot of time, trouble, and money.

I can’t say enough. These guys are HONEST, FAIR and know what a GREAT vehicle is. They only sell reliable cars at affordable prices. Purchase my dream car from Tommy a few weeks ago, Toyota 4 runner. There was a tiny leak in the rear, nothing serious but they offered to help with the repair costs, gave me a free of charge rental while the car was in the shop. It’s a great vehicle and it feels amazing to know that you are being treated fairly in a market that woman get taken advantage of a lot. I will always buy from them! Thanks y’all!

Make sure you take a mechanic with you to look over the vehicle first. I purchased a Nissan from here that had been wrecked previously in its life which they did not tell me and the car had a long history of electric problems. After 2 weeks of purchasing the stereo face stop working, door handle broke. Now I’m have major electrical issues with it and found out some rigged and circuit goin to one of the coils. I could have bought the same car on CL for much less money and headaches.

The vehicle I was looking at was fairly priced. However, they offered me $1500 less than the average trade in value for my vehicle, even after I tried working with them. That very next day I went to another used car lot and was offered $2000 more than they offered.

If I could leave zero stars I would. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE SCAMMERS. They sell cars that need new transmissions after a month, they ILLEGALLY sell cars that they do not have titles to, they are extremely shady and rude. When I asked if they check out the cars before selling them Tommy said “well we don’t go over them with a fine tooth comb”. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. THEY ARE SCAMMERS.

I am a resident in the neighborhood behind this business. on 8/17/19 at 2:45am a car horn alarm from the black honda odyssey went off and would not stop. I e-mailed Down Under and they said theres not much we can do to proactively keep an alarm from going off...on the 20th at around 5:45am the alarm went off again, once. On the 21st at 1:20am the alarm went off and would not stop. They have done nothing to fix the car after it did this the first time. If they take in broken cars and do not fix them, you will probably be buying a broken car. I would hate to have a car wake me up with its alarm every single night, Id also hate for the transmission to stop working randomly while driving. Any number of things can go wrong with a car, please buy from a dealership with cars that work.

Whatever you do, do not work with Brad. I currently have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner from this place and wish I wouldve never bought from them just because of him. He told me at time of purchase I would be able to trade my truck back in a year from time of purchase and thats what I was expecting I do. When it was time I called a year after my time of purchase and he told me to wait 6 months so I did. I called back 6 months which made it a year and a half from time or purchase and he stated he would get with the owner and give me a call back which he never did. Within that time I would call to make my payment and knowing it was me calling he still didnt acknowledge to say anything to me about calling me back so when I asked him he said the owners still hadnt been in which is funny because they are there almost every day. To this day he has never called me back. He is a liar and just wants to collect money from the interest they set you up with. Luckily Cindy was very helpful and always is and tried to refer me to another person from there but I just want to finish paying off my truck that way I dont have to deal with Brad or the owners anymore.

Drove all the way down there to buy a truck out right . get there 3 hours after they open, and the guy im talking with still hasnt shown up for work yet and guess what, he took the truck i was looking at home with him the night before!!!! Then i ask tommy how much out the door for the truck anyway? he starts yelling at me in an extremely threatening manner! thought i was going to have to call the police!!! stay away from these guys !!!!

Bought my 4 Runner from them and they were fair. Financed through them and all worked out well. Brad was our guy and he was very helpful.

I suppose its about time I leave a review for this place - purchased a vehicle from them September of 2015. To summarize for those who dont want to read a long review, this place is great, and more specifically, Brad is an amazing person to do business with.There were a few hiccups in the paperwork (none were intentional nor due to negligent practices), however Brad was quick to reconcile any hardships the hiccups caused (to include paying any fees associated with correcting the errors, on top of the car payment that was due because the paperwork was caught up in the mail). Another example of how honest Down Unders business practice is, is I had looked up recalls for the vehicle I purchased - come to find out there was a recall on the clutch assembly but the previous owner hadnt taken the vehicle in before the mileage deadline was met, and therefore never had the clutch replaced. Brad had no reservations offering to cover the cost of a replacement clutch because of the previous owners mistake. All around great people who Id recommend anyone to.
