Took my truck in for a check engine light that had multiple transmission codes. Jose checked me in, and with in a few hours gave me a call to inform me that my transmission was actually in good shape and there was an electrical issue causing the fault. Gave me a price on diag and said he would pass it to his electrical man. By next morning he called me with a quote after they found what was wrong and by the end of the day had my truck repaired and back on the road. Was very impressed with the turnaround and proper diag. The boys at the Aamco in north Austin off Burnet where very professional and experienced and I would recommend with two thumbs up. Thank y’all for the great service and affordable repair.

I brought in my old car for a transmission flush on the recommendation of a different mechanic. AAMCO staff member Jose explained what he was going to do beforehand, kept me informed as he worked on it, and ultimately advised me that, based on what he saw, the new fluid was not necessary and could actually be harmful in the long run (As I understood it, the detergent in the new fluid could become an abrasive). After consulting me, he put the old fluid back in and sent me off free of charge. I was impressed that he had advocated for what was best for the car-- even though it would mean that there would be no income to show for the 30-40 minutes he spent working on it.

Chose to recieve service at AAMCO after recieving a second opinion on my 2006 F150. I spoke to Jose who clearly explained the issues on my truck and how to best proceed. I was very satisfied that they addressed the oil leaks and the screeching starter that had been happening for seven years. They also rebuilt my transmission, the main reason for my visit. Thank you, its a blessing! Feels like a new truck!

I had a check engine light come on during a 16 hour road trip. After making it home I took it to Firestone who said I needed to take it to the dealership, but still charged $107 for a diagnostic check. The dealership couldn’t get me in until the next week and said it would take 1-6 days to repair. A friend told me about the AAMCO on Burnet and they let me drop it off that day and fixed it perfect the next. No more check engine light and I was treated very well. I will have all my future repairs done here.

I have to say this they are very polite and seem like very good people.The One Star is based solely on the price I had to pay 260.00 for a 10.00 stem and freon.I WISH I COULD TALK TO THE OWNER BEFORE B.B.B. AND I GET INVOLVED.

I was driving into Austin from out of town and had an issue with a rattling noise coming from my car. I knew what the issue was as it had already been diagnosed by the Austin Subaru dealership except they did not have any available appointments to correct the problem before I was scheduled to leave Austin. Jose was extremely professional and gave me an idea of the “worst case scenario”. When all was said and done, he resolved the rattling noise and removed the loose part that was causing the noise. Gave me advice on how to proceed when I returned home and since it did not require a lot of time he generously did not charge me to remove the loose part.

I’ve taken my car in for the same AC issue 3 times in the past year. I made an appointment for today at 8:00am and 7 hours later my car had not been looked at. When I mentioned the Better Business Bureau sticker on the business front door, the manager said I didn’t want to go making phone calls or I would regret it later.I felt personally threatened so I picked up my vehicle and left.I won’t be returning.

Not the best place to go if you want to be charge double for work that could be done somewhere else. Overcharged for a simple fluid changed. Plus the manger on duty not wearing a mask while dealing with customer. I recommend you to shop around and let this be the last place to check out for any car maintenance.

One guy lied to me on the phone just to get me in the door. The repair took twice as long as the guy said it would then charged me an extra $400 that he couldn’t explain why. Also we’re in the middle of a pandemic and the guy behind the desk never wore a mask.

Brought in my vehicle because it seemed to be having issues with the transmission. They offered to replace the entire transmission... Glad I went somewhere else. Turns out it only needed a flush. Which wasnt done there or even offered as a solution to the issue. Seems like they were out to just get a bunch of money out of me. Be wary.My partner took it in. Its not under my name. No I will not be calling you as theres nothing you can do. The vehicle has been fixed.

We got off on a rough start do to a transmission that they no longer make the parts for yet these men were able to completely restore my transmission did you some good R&D and some wonderful hands thank you guys it means the world to me.

Jose and his staff do an amazing job. The only place I will get my car worked on. The transmission builders are the best in Austin. They are a very good shop and highly recommend, for complete car care. The mechanics are very careful to not damage the car while disassembly and assembly.

I spoke with Jose at this location and I had an amazing experience. I went with AAMCO to get a second opinion on my vehicle and Jose was very professional, straight- forward and helpful. He genuinely wants to serve the customer and allows you to feel comfortable to make your own decision. Even though I ended up having the dealership working on my vehicle (due to a warranty promise) Jose was very kind and helpful with me when I took my service somewhere else, which says a lot.

Was going to get a transmission flush but was told due to the miles on my transmission it might do more damage than good, was better to change filter and fluid. Also pointed out a leak on one of my transmission coolant lines. Will definitely go back again.Thanks Jose

Shop out their quote. They tried to charge me double what several other shops in town quoted me at, and when I told them to not do anything to my car, they tried to tell me my battery was bad and I needed to buy a new one. My battery was perfectly fine. Pretty disappointed in Jose and his team.

Jose and John are great at this AAMCO on Burnet! I was at another shop and they didnt follow the procedures when completing my transmission fluid flush. The overage of any fluid added should be checked and drained at a specified temperature. I lost trust in the other shop based on the way they dealt with me. I called Jose and he and John followed the procedures and removed the overage of fluid added by the other shop to make sure my transmission wasnt effected and were great hosts at their shop and never made me feel uncomfortable for wanting to make sure my car was taken care of properly. Also, they didnt charge me for helping me out. I will see them for my next transmission fluid flush, for sure!!!

I went to AAMCO after having my cars 40,000 mile check up at the dealership. On the way to pay out, the service man said my brakes probably needed repair soon and why didnt I bring it back next week. I did not want to drive all the way out to the dealership again so I looked on the internet and read reviews of various brake repair places near home. I took my car to AAMCO on Burnet because the reviews were so good. They lived up to all their positive reviews. I was told my brakes really didnt need repair for another 10,000 miles. I really appreciated the honesty and will return when they do need work. Everyone was so nice and professional and I did not get charged for the inspection.

I have taken my vehicles elsewhere only for location convenience, but after my experience of faulty repairs from these shops, I realized it is worth driving the distance to AAMCO on Burnet Rd. in Austin.Jose is friendly and does not try to sell me a repairI don’t need. He keeps me posted when a delay occurs, and provides information regarding my questions. He doesn’t rush me into making a decision immediately like other shops.Also, they honor their warranty work, and don’t mislead you to purchase a non related repair.I do have my favorite mechanics at AAMCO. I use John for all my repairs on my 1993 Cutlass Oldsmobile, and 2005 Chevy Impala.When it comes to transmission work I use Rick.I could go on and on with positive comments. If you are tired of dealing with over priced and faulty repairs, my suggestion is give them a try.

Jose is awesome! I was recommended by my cousin Joey. After they got in there they discovered that a+ transmission specialist failed to put the wiring harness and the torque control switch which couldve burned up the transmission. A+ failed to stand by there work but Aamco came to the rescue! Thank you so much for your great work. We were so happy have honest and quality work performed!!! Youre awesome!!

Jose and his mechanics are the best. The mechanics show me the parts that need to be repaired, especially if its something major. Jose works hard to make sure Im getting the best prices. Ive mechanic shopped and have found that Aamco is often cheaper and their quality is excellent. I suggest that you go in and see them....they make car repairs a little less painful.

I took my previous sequoia here. I felt like they did only the necessary repairs and Jose even spoke to my father on the phone about what was going on and why they were doing said repairs. Being a women going to a mechanic can be a nightmare, so glad to find an honest mechanic in the big city. Continue to take my newer car here and order parts through them for miscellaneous repairs (can the construction in Austin be over already?). Parts usually are in the next day. So also convenient for people who rely on their cars heavily.

Ive been going to Jose and his guys for over 3 years now for everything from oil changes to major repairs (catalytic converter, brakes, radiator, and more). I couldnt be happier. Jose is very adept at explaining exactly what needs to be done on the vehicle and in laymans terms (Im a car idiot). During repairs, if they notice something else wrong with my vehicle, they always bring it to my attention plus give me a realistic estimate of when it should be repaired.I love these guys and doubt Ill go anywhere else anytime soon.

100 dollars to just diagnosis/ look at my truck. Waited two hours for them to get the wrong serpentine belt. Only went here because I heard the ads on the radio but dont think Ill go again.

I looked at several places when I had transmission troubles and Jose and the guys at AAMCO were the quickest and cheapest quotes I could find. They also warranty their work so if you have any problems they will fix it for FREE. Great customer Service and really reliable work. I will definitely go there again for my car needs.

I have been to AAMCO to get a diagnostics on a Dodge Intrepid and they were quick to find the problem. I love them! the one that is on Stassney is where I went. They were quick to repair the damages too! A bit expensive but it was worth it! I would recommend it to anybody which I did tell my sisters and friends.

I spoke with the desk guy (Jose, I presume) and the mechanic who did the inspection (Daniel, I believe), who had both seen my original review (below).We discussed the break pads. They did note that there was 3mm left, but said that brake pads start with 9mm, so they calculated 30% left. A quick Google search says they usually start with 12mm (which would put mine at 25%) and should be replaced around 3 or 4mm. So, difference in opinion and products.We also discussed the AC compressor. They said specifically it was the bearing that was failing, and they could tell by the noise via stethoscope. The belt mentioned was the serpentine belt, and my understanding from their explanation is the compressor doesnt engage with the serpentine belt when the AC is not on.I did ultimately get a copy of the inspection and Jose treated me like a person, not a car or sale, so now Im a happy camper. Im still going to do my due diligence and get more opinions and quotes before dropping ~$1500, but I do feel good about how they handled the situation and my review.Original review: I found a coupon for a free 36 point inspection at this location. So I called, asking if appointments were required and how long itd take. They said no appointments were necessary, and about an hour. So I take it in on a Wednesday morning without an appointment and they said theyd get to it that afternoon. That didnt work for me since it was half a day instead of an hour, so I made an appointment to return the following Monday.Fortunately when I went back on Monday, the inspection only took about an hour. They correctly identified a non-working window button and front tires that needed to be replaced. However, they did not identify low coolant or nearly gone (3mm left) front brake pads.I was also told I needed a new AC compressor, and thats what was causing the noise. At first the front desk guy said that a failed AC compressor would lead to a broken belt (which belt they didnt say) and the car not moving. Last I checked, AC wasnt tied to the car going or not. Then later it sounded like a failed AC compressor would lead to life sucking, but the car still being driveable. For the record, I have zero AC symptoms and no sound changes between AC being on or off.Im disappointed to say that I never got a copy of the inspection. All I got was a written estimate for the front tires, window button, and AC compressor. I got the estimate emailed to me and emailed back asking for the actual inspection, but never received a response.

People lie to you. Told me that I could keep my for as cm long as I need to so I can get the money up to pay for the transmission work then called me three weeks later saying that I need to pay in full to get my call or they where going to take it. When I went to pay for the car I had to go back up there three times in row just to pay the bill to get my car. Then a month after I got my car they sent me a letter saying that they was going to take my car. I would recommend not to ever go to this shop.

Normally I dont write reviews but I had a really good experience with AAMCO that I felt I should share it. Had AC problems and summer time in Texas, you dont want to get stuck with a bad AC. These guys fixed it and fixed it good. Its freezing in the car now.They also alerted me about some other issues with my engine and took care of that too. I will come back for more work later on.

I would give them zero stars if I could. When I initially talked to Jose about dropping my car off, he was friendly and professional. Fast forward after they had my car for 5 hours, I called to see what the status was on my car, they had yet to even look at it. The receptionist answered, and obviously wasnt much help. She put me on hold for nearly 20 minutes in total. After I hung up, and called back she proceeded to tell me, I wasnt on hold that long, and that Jose was in the middle of something, and would call me back. Finally get the quote, and it is insanely high. After doing my own research, it would cost me about $300.00-$400.00 for the material, while I understand labor and taxes need to be included in, their quote has me at $1597.00 plus tax. I wouldve been a little more optomistic about this quote if I didnt already have a horrible experience. No one really acknowledged the fact that they had my car for 5 hours, and I had to be the one to call in order to get an answer, and ontop of that I STILL paid $100 for a disgnostic fee that took them all of 20 minutes to do.

I took my 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 in for and oil change and a/c check. They told me my Freon was low and I needed to recharge it. They let me know that even after they recharged it, there could still be something else wrong. They did the work and I got a call saying my a/c was blowing ice cold, without any additional work. They were kind and fast and informative. I will be taking my truck back there in the future for other repairs. Thanks AAMCO!!

Excellent customer service at a great price. Got a quote for $3500 for work at a shop in Pflugerville. Jose at Aamco on Burnet quoted me $2450 for the same job. Saved me over $1000!! And, all work was done in house, not outsourced like some shops do. I will continue to bring my vehicles to Aamco on Burnet Road! Three vehicles, mine, my wifes, my daughters, four visits...Perfection every time.

I had my transmission go out and i called every place in town to find the best price for the reviews. I came across aamco and sure enough i was told that i could finance the repair for 0 down and around 250 a month. During the repair i was told of a couple more ploblems that needed repair. The cost of the new repairs would need to be paid up front which i didnt have an issue with. I came in to picck up my car when it was done expecting to pay 600-750 and was informed that there was in fact a down payment and 2000 was currently the new cost to take out the car. Ive worked in an honest body shop before so i know the tricks to watch out for from shops. Im sure this isnt the first time the manager jose promises a low payment to get out your car then on pick up the price is inflated dramatically knowing the customer probably isnt going to be able to afford it in hopes they keep the car and make more money than they would have made on the repair. Please do not fall for this! Its better to pay a bigger down payment from the beginning than fall for this sad trick these guys pull. On payment the manager jose also tried to charge me an extra 100 and thought i wouldnt realize but I put the exact amount of the cost onto the card i was using to pay so when my card was declined i realized he was trying to charge more than the total cost of the repair. When i realized and told him you added an extra hundred he completely ignored me, remained quiet, and fixed the price. Please please please save yourself the trouble and stay away from aamco

I got straight up lied to by the guy on the phone.He told me the transmission on my truck was completely destroyed, there was metal etc. and quoted me 3k to rebuild.I took the truck back to my shop and pulled the transmission myself to have it rebuilt elsewhere. The transmission had normal wear, the torque converter had gone bad.I get transmissions are black magic to some people but businesses should not be lying to people.

The got my HUMMER H1 up and running like new and they were not expensive.

Less than 1/2 the cost of the dealer and his financing options saved my butt. Jose, the manager/owner provides great customer service, explains everything to be done and my final price was exactly as quoted from the start.

In December my 2006 Hyndai Elantra was over heating. I read great reviews online about Aamco, especially this location, so I decided to take it in. Almost $800 later I had my car back and it seemed to be working fine. I had to pay for several hoses to be replaces, along with a belt, and a thermostat because Jose told me they get damaged when a car over heated. (I originally had left him a 5 star review while I was in the shop.)On January 21st, my car overheated again while I was in Dallas. When I had left the shop last time Jose told me, I had a full year warranty on both the parts and labor, so I called him and he told me to take it to an Aamco there in Dallas.$1500 later I find out that my gaskets had failed and resulted in my head warping. Luckily the head didnt crack or I would have been really screwed. The mechanic explained that the damage resulted from improper diagnostics the first time my car overheated. Had it been caught then I wouldnt have a warped head because the gaskets were weakened the first time the car overheated and then slowly wore down until they exploded.Today I went into the Aamco here in Austin, and spoke with Jose. I explained what I was told about why the damage occurred and offered to settle the matter by him covering the damage caused by the negligence of him and his staff. He refused, which I understood and said I would take it up with corporate and leave another review. Jose then threatened to sue me if I did. This is unacceptable. It is unbelievable that an owner of a shop would threaten to sue his clients for leaving a review when he cases $1500 worth of damage after being paid almost $800 to fix the problem.I will never be taking my car back here and will be telling everyone I know that they should avoid Joses shop like the plague. I will continue to use Aamco provided they resolve this matter, because I was pleased with the shop in Dallas and all my family uses Aamco.
