Best shop I’ve ever been to. I moved to Austin not knowing anyone so it was nerve wracking to find a shop I could trust (especially as a single girl who knows nothing about cars). Joe and his crew have taken care of me and my Honda Element since 2016 and I couldn’t be more grateful for their service. I was so appreciative of how clearly they would explain things and they were always upfront with information and had very reasonable prices for parts and labor. They communicate updates well and get jobs done as quickly as possible. They even would call to check on my car to make sure it was running well after pick ups. I sadly had to leave Austin and when I picked up my car for a final tune up I got lots of hugs from joe and a lot of the crew. They really put their clients first and have a lot of love and care. Flamingo Automotive is one of the best businesses I have ever received services from. They are generous, honest and very supportive. I have been going to them for 4 years now and they never disappoint. The first time I ever went was bc my car fully broke down and my roommate and I pushed it over to the shop. It was a Saturday and Joe was closing up. He saw my struggle and was so kind to allow me to bring the car in and lined me up with one of their loaner cars on the spot. From the beginning they have consistently gone above and beyond in their support. The last time I was in they gave me a list of everything that needed to be done before I drove across country to Oregon. Instead of hustling me for all I had they sat down with me and helped me figure out what things I could do with the help of an experienced friend and what things they needed to do to provide me with the safest trip. In doing so, they saved me a lot of money. In addition to all of this, if you’ve ever driven by their spot you know that they have style to boot. So if you are on the market for a new crew of mechanics and you want the most honest, generous and stylish ones Flamingo Automotive is definitely what you are looking for.

Joe and his team at Flamingo Automotive do great work and Ive been trusting them with my cars for over a decade. Theyre definitely a Keep Austin Weird type company you should support, but theyre honest with you about fixes, prices, and alternatives. Ill keep going to Flamingo as long as they can keep affording their Central Austin rent.

For 25 Years, Ive been going to Flamingo automotive. In that time they have worked on all of my daily drivers, and they have help me stand up 5 different project cars. They have a deep expertise in Japanese and German Automobiles, and frankly are possibly the best value for money option in Austin(maybe Texas) for those platforms.

This was hands down the best experience I’ve had at an auto shop in my life. Joe is the nicest mechanic I’ve ever encountered and he and his staff actually take the time to explain what’s going on and help you understand your vehicle on a holistic level. After visiting the Toyota dealership and being quoted on over $4K of ‘urgent’ repairs, Joe took the time to really understand my vehicle and helped created a schedule of actual necessary repair work we should perform over the next 6-12 months. For example, the dealership wanted to replace my entire radio for over $1K and Flamingo fixed the problem with a $1.00 fuse replacement. His prices are fair and reasonable, and his entire staff seems extremely knowledgeable and honest. I’ll be going to Flamingo from this point forward. I feel like my car has never been in better hands!

If I could, I would rate this place a 7/10. Out of fairness and a means to not diminish the professionalism and hard work here, I have opted to rate it 5 stars out of respect. If you’re anything like me and are highly skeptical of car repair shops due to their nature of up-charging a lot of extra services that you didn’t need in the first place, I would come here with caution. If you know exactly what is wrong with your vehicle, I recommend comparing estimates/pricing with other shops before coming here. However, if you are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your car by yourself and absolutely need professional help figuring it, Flamingo Automotive is a great option. I would also advise that you come here if you are interested in fixing multiple parts of your vehicle, as they diagnose your car holistically (not just the problem you came in with) with a hefty diagnostic test price. Flamingo is a bit on the expensive side, but Joe seems to know what he’s doing, and he does so with a smile and enthusiasm at all times!

The customer service was poor. The phone call alone let me know that they were not competent to do what MY vehicle needed.

I had to get my license plates put on a new car without a bracket. They did the work FOR FREE on the spot and it looked great. They have some great people working here. Will definitely go back!

I’ll keep going here for as long as I live in Austin. Great customer service, they don’t rip you off at all, and talk through everything that’s going on with your car.

My 06 Tacoma was long overdue for some attention so I took it in to Flamingo last week on the recommendation of a friend. Joe and Peter went out of their way to give my vehicle a thorough inspection, develop a good service plan and explain the entire process. After some suspension work and some much needed maintenance the old truck is running great. Nice to find a business where they are genuinely interested in making their clients happy. I will be back.

There is simply no other automotive place I would trust with my car. Joe, the owner, and his team of terrific experts put the know in knowledge when it comes to all types of vehicles--especially Japanese and German . I credit them with keeping my 4-Runner in top, trustworthy shape for over 20 years. Before that, it was an Isuzu Trooper they meticulously maintained for over 12 years. Superb work, fair prices, genuinely nice people.

At first glance Flamingo Auto seems crowded with cars but dont let that fool you about their meticulous attention to detail and care. Obviously this will come at a reasonable charge but thats precisely what you need if you want the work to be done properly without compromise. Imo theres no such thing as one-size-fit-all when it comes to working on any used piece of sophisticated machinery and a job if done right and patiently is like an art and that takes time and care. Even changing tires can be incredibly time consuming if all the fine details are taken into consideration. Flamingo Auto certainly speak the language of precision workmanship and thats special! Youre not speaking to a front desk through which all your requirements get lost in translation. I spoke to Joe and Jacob but theyre all of same dna.My only concern is that theres a dip and an incline in their driveways that would otherwise cause cars to bottom out if not carefully angled out based on location of exhaust pipes. That can hopefully be addressed in time :).

I’ve brought my Honda here for years. They do great work. Joe, the owner, is kind and responsible. yesterday, they repaired my tire, one of 4 they put on earlier in the year, and gave me a loaner car. He also worked on my washer fluid clog to get my wiper sprayer working again. He didn’t charge me for any of this work, I assume bc it was unofficially under warranty from prior work. I recommend them enthusiastically.

Sent my freshman at UT daughter there with what we thought was a low tire. Checked all her tires and found nothing wrong. Reset her tire light and sent her on the way at no charge. A friend referred me here. Jacob and Joe did an amazing job on my car. I had gone elsewhere and was wary when I got an unreasonably high quote. These guys fixed my engine light and about 5 other things, all for $500 less than the original quote. I’ll be back (but probably not for a while, given the outstanding job they did)!

Joe is good, honest mechanic who knows what hes doing and there arent a lot of those left. He is a BMW expert and does a great job with my Lotus, although I would bring any of my cars here.

My new go-to shop for our vehicles. I called 7 other shops to request a suspension kit install that no one would accept.The guys at flamingo were more than willing to take on the job. Very helpful and provided quality work. This is absolutely a great place to take your ride.

I cant speak for any work they do, but Ive called twice and emailed once trying to get a quote for installing a lift kit on my car. My pal Bo over at Juke recommended them directly to me, so I feel bad for Bo that they could never respond to me.To be clear, each time I spoke to someone on the phone, I was *assured* they would have the quote by the end of the day.

Extremely grateful to Joe and his crew. These guys are amazing. Good service and I dealt with Joe directly and he certainly is very knowledgeable.In my case, the dealership charged me for a bad hub bearing when the actual problem, which by the way was found by Joe and his team, was a control arm bolt needing some tightening. Thanks to Joe for the thorough check on these parts, and for actually show and explain to me his findings before correction.The car is fun to drive again, no rear end wobble!!I 100% recommend this shop.

The positives were that the work was done in a timely manner, but there were several issues with the service and work. First, they rotated my tires without noticing they were the wrong size, they took off the dust shield of my wheel bearing without telling me, and I had to communicate with 3 different people over 2 days. The pricing was another big issue. The owner told me the first day that he could do an oil change as part of the work done and then they wanted to charge me $130 for an oil change, air filters and wiper blades - basic stuff. They also quoted me 450 over the phone and charged 650 in person. Overall, I was not impressed. Also charged me 350 to replace a wheel bearing when the same job at another shop was 230. Its nice that theyre a locally owned shop thats been around a while, but I wont be revisiting and am suprised at the high review average.

F30 335i - Had my BMW at the dealership In south of Austin for 3 weeks. It was untouched by the dealership, so I took my car back on a Monday. That same Monday I dropped it off at Flamingos because my rear bearing was out and had a misfire. Flamingo was able to get my car back on the road in as little as 3 days! I have 3rd party warranty and working with flamingo was stress free! They got in contact with my warranty with no issues, which made it smooth to check out! I spoke with Peter and Jacob and Im sure theyll fix you right up! Thanks again for the amazing service

I had to take my 2014 Mercedes in for a B-Service and I was most impressed with their knowledge and experience with these cars. Best part has to be the customer service. They are all very understanding and very cool. Everyone in the shop seems to want to help unlike the dealership. Added bonus, they have cars to use while yours is in the shop so youre not stuck without a car! I highly recommend this place.

Wanting to cut the cord with my dealership, I was on the hunt for a shop that I could feel comfortable leaving my car with while also knowing that I wouldnt get gouged on the price of repairs. Thats when I remembered that I used to take a previous Audi to these guys. I feel that Flamingo far exceeded all of my criteria and offered excellent customer service as well. They were happy to explain itemized costs, alternate options and clearly took a real excitement and passion in my car. From now on I tell everyone with a car they love to check out Flamingo.

I needed a rear wheel bearing replaced. They gave me an estimate of $500, $100 for parts and $400 for labor. I went somewhere else and got the same job done -- with the same quality parts -- for $300.

Dont go here! I called for a price on some work that needs to be done on my car. They wont give you an EXACT quote. He gave a (low) general estimate. $40 to get an exact price. Who does that?

Bought a used VW Tiguan and found a few faults with the vehicle. Live near this shop and saw that there were many foreign cars. Have had 2 repairs done and the last one made me smile. The team at Flamingo are not only talented but super nice and genuine people. Bring your vehicle here!!!!

Flamingo does great work and they stand by it. I have been going there for 10 years with my BMW and Volvo cars and they have saved me many $ as compared to repairs at the dealership. The owner, Joe, is very conscientious and always takes time to explain to me the repair and show me the work they have done. I really like this experience so I know what Im paying for as opposed the the experience at the dealer where you never talk to the mechanic and the service guys dont know what work was actually done on your car.If you want the dealer experience with free lattes, air conditioned waiting room and new fancy loaner cars, then Flamingo may not be right for you.

Overtightened my wifes filter drain plug and tire lugs. Had to replace all those parts.

I love this place! It is close to my work and my boss uses them which is why I went initially but their great service kept me coming back. I have an older VW and so it needs a few things done a year usually. They take great care of my car and dont do unnecessary work on it. I would definitely recommend them! Staff is friendly and helpful!

Their mechanics is helpful and friendly. However, the labor cost is a little bit expensive than expected. I spent 165$ only letting my brake adjusted and change the transmission fluid. It is really over my budget. However, the quality and service is reasonable.

My wife and I have been using Flamingo for 15 years over the lives of several cars. Their estimates have always been solid, everything they fix stays fixed, you get the sense that everyone there is intelligent and likes what theyre doing, and they are convenient to north-central Austin where we live. They certainly stay super-busy, but Ive never felt like I wasnt being taken care of. They are probably more expensive than other places you can take your car to, but I live central so I dont have to drive all over the place and besides, you get what you pay for.

You are best to go elsewhere. 5 star ratings are total BS. Just shop around but for sure avoid this location.

Really nice but super expensive!

Once went with a burnt-out headlamp on an eighth generation Honda Civic and was given an approximately $200 work estimate to have the bulb replaced (the reason I mention the make and model is because of this particular cars unorthodox setup that doesnt allow you to change the lightbulb through the hood. But yes, Ill admit to being a dolt). I opted for do-it-yourself and bought the lightbulb at an AutoZone, and with the help an attendent had it fixed for a total cost of $8. Based on that assessment, Id just say be careful with the work estimates.

I cant ever say enough about this shop or its people.

Went in with my 87 bmw 325e. All I needed was a smoke test to identify if I had any intake/vacuum hose leaks to chase down a fluctuating idle. Was told by Joe, the owner I assume, that he only knows 99+ cars well and refused to work on mine, although he had an identical customer car in the parking lot. Stating he didnt want to get too involved in it, and it wasnt worth his time. Like I said, all I needed was a basic smoke test, which is extremely common and easy to do. He referred me to another shop across town, which isnt ideal since I live about 30 seconds from Flamingo. I guess you have to beg people to take your money now? I dont get it.

Do not ever go to this auto-shop! They charged me $95 for conventional oil and filter change on my 2008 Corolla. Just for half an hour labor, they charged me $50. I went to them just because the previous owner used to take the car there.
