(5/5) FOOD - AMAZING pastries and bread!!! One of my favorite places to grab pastries and lots of different choices! The chocolate almond croissant is a must try. For a tangier sourdough, try the rye Vollkornbrot (it’s a smaller loaf than expected, see picture)(5/5) SERVICE - Always friendly and willing to give recommendations! Don’t be intimidated by a short line - it goes quick. Recommend grabbing a picture of their menu (updated daily) then getting in line to peruse on your phone.(5/5) PARKING - Small lot in trying to park at, but plenty of street parking too!

Everything I’ve gotten here is top notch. I definitely have to buy extra baked goods because I can barely make it back to my car before tearing into something. They do specialize in sourdough and are happy to share a little bit of their starter if you ask nicely. And the meat! Even some simple roast beef will elevate your lunchtime meal. The Sunday burger is a win - a glorious two-handed, multiple napkin masterpiece. As others have mentioned, the line can be long and they are more expensive than your neighborhood grocery store. But, it is oh so worth it.

This is a wonderful butcher/bakery combo. Fantastic fresh bread and a wide selection of high quality cuts of meat. If you are around on a Sunday you absolutely must try the burger; it is one of the best in the area. Don’t forget to grab a cookie or pastry for dessert!

Most mornings Evergreen is packed when I drive by! Since it was empty this past Friday, I had to stop and pick up some goodies. They’ve become such a fixture of the neighborhood these past few months, and they keep getting better and better. Their COVID setup is a table in front of their open door, and everyone is wearing masks. I do miss being able to walk in the beautiful shop and peruse the meats and breads myself, but they’re doing great work for the times we find ourselves in.

This very stylish old world butcher and bakery has all the charm of what it means to be a curator of delicious foods. The architecture of the old building and the decor match perfectly with the high quality local meat selection and fresh baked goods. This place caught my eye from across the street while walking and I was drawn in for a second look. You can see all the magic happen right before your eyes when you walk for a peek. Such respect for the craft make this place well worth it. This place is amazing! IG: @mrbrandoatl

Huge fan of this amazing butcher and bake shop. We try and get a loaf every week. Their bread is amazing. Their pastries are so good and there’s a lot of different options. I love the sausage roll, ham and cheese croissant, apple cake, and kouign amann. Try anything they have and you’ll love it!

Our favorite bakery in ATL. We go here every weekend to pick up bread. We used to go to General Muir Bread but they don’t open until 11 on weekends. So glad we found this place. The bread is the best we’ve found. If you go here, you’re are going to wait in line. Good things come to those willing to wait! All of Evergreens bakery products have been amazing. The croissants are something special.

People with bad things to say about this place have zero clue what goes into it day in and day out. The quality of bread, pastry, and meat is amazing and unmatched by anything else in the city. Turns out not taking shortcuts takes an incredible amount of time and energy. This is why you come to Evergreen. The people who work here are the absolute best and really really care about what they do. I’ve seen them drop off food at the free fridge, support industry workers with free bread during the most uncertain times in the pandemic, or just leave a rack out at the end of day for anyone who wants a loaf to come get it. Nobody ever once forced me into going here or standing in a line (which is a pandemic service modification for the safety of their staff and the community!). But I keep coming back. Have some patience, enjoy your visit, and get as many goodies as you can. It’s worth it :)

So my wife works at drew and we had a $5 coupon! I wanted to smoke some ribs so I show up around 1 on Saturday and request the ribs. They say sorry we are out. I noticed the three people before me also turned away with nothing. I looked sad at the owner and said how about beef ribs? He said I sure do! And let me tell you... I went to spend 10 bucks and spent 80 but it was worth it!!! See for yourself.

Nice neighborhood bakery and butcher. Nice variety of hIgh quality meats and fresh bakery products. There is a nice variety of bread loaves, Kouign Amann as well as pastries. Coffee and a few beverages are available, but no seating. Staff is friendly and helpful in your selection process. On street parking is available. Hours are limited to four days a week I believe, so be sure to check their website before psyching yourself up for a delicious cinnamon roll. Prices reflect the quality of the goods.

Amazing bagels, bread, and pastries and other fun items. Emma, the co-owner, is also so friendly and takes the time to wave hello every time I stop by which is at least once a week. Aside from being a great addition to the neighborhood for treats and staples, they give back in a number of ways to the community. Evergreen has been wonderful since day one, and I can’t wait to see what is next for them.

The best burger in ATL and probably the best chocolate croissant in the city too. This place is about a 15 minute walk from us so we frequent it often. The Covid precautions are very well done and the staff is super friendly and accesible. They’ll slice your bread for you, offer recommendations on what cuts of meat to get, they are everything you’d expect from a neighborhood butcher and bakery. Beyond the service, the goods are TOP NOTCH. My favorite is the coffee cake, we always buy two as our next day breakfast. We wrap them in aluminum foil and reheat them lightly in the oven — PERFECTION! But really you can’t go wrong with anything you try from Evergreen.

At this point, I have probably tried everything regularly on the menu at Evergreen, as well as a bunch of the other foods occasionally or seasonally offered there. Every few days I like to stop in, maybe for a sandwich at lunchtime, a coffee and pastry in the morning, a burger on Sunday, some household staples, or a special or new cut of meat to grill with the family. I never knew there were so many kinds of sourdough. If you dont recognize something, try it. Everything is made by people truly passionate about making food the way food should be made.

Always worth the wait. I usually go for one specific treat and walk away with a bag full of bread, deli meat, cookies, or rolls. The weekend specials, though, are where this place really shines—seasonal loaves, fancy pies, and Sunday cheeseburgers, to name a few.If you dont get in line super early, be sure to check their Instagram story beforehand (and know they may sell out of a few things before 10:30).

The best bread and meat in town, hands down. I appreciate that they use sourdough starter for everything and have both the fancy, expensive cuts of meat I occasionally want to splurge on as well as the economic cuts that are hard to find in grocery stores. Also great sausage and lunchmeat made on site. On weekends there’s occasionally a line but it moves quickly. Don’t be turned off by an occasional review from a troll whose time must be so precious in a pandemic they can’t stand to be in a queue. Maybe they watched all the Netflix.

The food is 4 star, the service is 1 star.If you go to Evergreen Butcher and Bakery early on any morning, you will wait in a line. Each person in line will be served at the door by one employee inside. She will take your order then pop back into the depths of the shop to collect your items, make your coffee, slice your bread, then return so you may tender your payment. These interactions last an average of 4-5min per person. Before you get in line you may want to do some mental math. There are 8 people in line, do I have 40min to invest in getting a loaf of bread right now? Of course! It must be so good! If you are here because you want to try a kouign amann, make sure to check the hand-written butcher paper menu before entering the line, is it still available? Ok! Lets go. After watching a parade of dog walkers, feeling ashamed and complacent from witnessing a troubled homeless person being booked into the police station next door, and trying to distract yourself with your phone half a dozen times, you approach the front of the line. By now the loaf and amann and the tri-tip have been struck from the menu. But, but. You think, Its only 9:30! You make mental plans to salvage your self esteem and pick afresh, a chocolate croissant and some ground chuck will be lovely. Inching ever closer you will see a sticker posted to the window which states: Equality served here. Looking around, seeing only white people in line, you may become acutely aware that you are part of a gentrification ritual.By the time you are on your way home with your hoard, having spent more than three times what someone working a minimum wage job could have earned in the time you waited to be served, it is late morning and the landscaping machines have started to hum. You have just been duped into performing a service for Evergreen: free publicity, hype. That they are still serving customers, 12 months into the pandemic, at this sluggish pace must mean that they are of the perspective that scarcity denotes quality. They have a vested interest in slow service because they think that what they have to sell is more valuable than the price they charge for it. The line inflates the value of their goods just as the more remodels on a block inflate the value of homes next door. As opposed to making it harder for black homeowners to stay in their neighborhood, Evergreen is merely cutting into the business of the last twee bakery to open up: Proof - great bread and pastry, no waiting. If Evergreen would like to protect themselves from future market changes they should consider building a diverse and reliable customer base instead of churning through all the first timers and bobos still eager for a chomp at the bit. Here are some suggestions:1. Your store has many operable windows. Take orders from one, and serve from another. Increase the number of people serving customers.2. Get a blackboard and write the menu on it. If you can afford new white letters on your marquee you can afford a blackboard. Stop wasting your own time and paper re-writing your menu everyday.3. Study your sales. You stopped making gluten free pastry, it was probably obvious at the end of the day that you had too many. It is harder to notice if something sells out consistently because that doesnt eat into your profits, but it is a missed profit opportunity. It does eat into your customers frustrations. Find a better balance.4. Include the weights of your breads. You have an appealing, if not entirely authentic, vollkornbrot which despite being priced similar to other whole loaves on your menu, comes in halves. You claim on your website to sell staples make it easier for customers to compare your prices to the staple prices they know - as you do for meat.5. Do something for the less fortunate who are priced out of your staples. Your bread used to wind up in the Free Fridge on Moreland on Sunday afternoons. Sell day olds. Put on your website which food bank you divert to.

The bread is really good but the weekend waits border on ridiculous, with lines of 25 to 30 people at times. With a single cashier waiting on the line and serving products its kind of not worth it, especially when they sell out right as you get to the front of the line. Avoid on the weekends...

My wife and I went on both days of their soft open. The first day we sampled the butchery, buying some of their locally sourced steaks that we cooked for dinner — they were dry-aged and phenomenal. The second day, we wanted to try some of the baked goods and bought an olive bread, which is one of my personal favorites and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. Everything that we had was delicious, the space is beautiful, and it’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

Evergeen is a fantastic edition to Kirkwood. I love having a local butcher that I can walk to. The staff is so friendly, the location is clean, and everything I have had is amazing! The Sunday burgers are pricey but HUGE and delicious. The breakfast biscuit is also perfection. I have yet to try a bad pastry from Evergreen. It would be great if there were some seating outside to sit and enjoy your purchases. Maybe benches or a few bistro tables! I am not sure if that is allowed but thought I would throw it out there.

I really do love their charm. Everyone is super friendly and their breads are phenomenal. Its my cheat from my mostly plant based lifestyle. As someone who doesnt eat meat, I do wish the two (bakery and butchery) were a bit more separated... but if I want to enjoy their amazing breads at a highly convenient location, I just have to get over myself... (but I do know some more strict vegans that wont go there for that reason)But as a German to find this yummy Vollkornbrot and close by... Im in heaven.
