I absolutely loved working with Colleen! The process was easy, simple, and so much fun. She was very excited to work on my gown. My gown is made of organza which is a tricky fabric to work with. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found White Orchid Bridal to alter my wedding dress. Colleen is amazing at what she does! Im a pretty particular person and I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted my wedding dress to look like. When I first told Colleen I wanted to change the neckline of my dress she definitely hesitated - and I mean this in the best way! She didnt just say Yes, no problem. She stopped, thought about it, and spoke with me about some of the potential problems of changing the neckline given the fabric of my dress, which was a ripped crepe (think corduroy). After we talked through some of the solutions, Colleen got straight to work. We only had a month until the wedding and to be honest, I was nervous about the tight turn-around, but after the first fitting I was so so incredibly happy with the change and the way the neckline and customizations were progressing. The end result was incredible. The neckline went from a halter-style top to a sweetheart; she also added lace to my side panel and made my straps a double strap in the back! I loved it; it was exactly what I envisioned. Was it expensive? Yessir, but was it worth it? 100x yes!! You get what you pay for and Colleen did an amazing job. Colleen made the alterations to my BHLDN Sawyer gown for our small September wedding. White Orchid came recommended by BHLDN in Atlanta, where I purchased my dress. With all the options out there, it was nice to have some guidance. I walked in for my initial fitting thinking the dress needed some hemming and not much else. By the time Colleen was finished pulling and pinning the dress into shape, it looked 10 times better than out of the box. When I picked the dress up on my final appointment it fit like a dream. Everyone at the wedding said the dress looked like it was made for me. Colleen does amazing work and has a great personality. I enjoyed visiting with her at each appointment. She made the whole process completely painless. I know I could have gotten cheaper alterations elsewhere, but if youre going to spend the money on a wedding dress, you want to know that the final product is going to be perfect.

I called her Saturday morning and needed a last minute alteration the same weekend before I left town for our wedding.. she squeezed me in same day and agreed to do it that evening/next morning! And then when she fit me we decided the dress actually fit pretty well after all and she recommended it would be better off without any alterations (and suggested some body tape to fix an area that alterations couldnt have fixed anyways). She was more concerned about what was best for me vs trying to create more business for herself which I really appreciate. And she was super nice on top of it all!

Colleen was able to do the alterations I needed (Strap shortening and hemming) and create a custom hair piece within 2 weeks. I was under time constraints and its the busy season, so I was happy to pay a rush fee in order to work with her.As soon as I saw her website and the custom work she does, I knew she could handle my simple dress, and she definitely made it exactly what I wanted. Her shop is adorable and very clean, and she is a warm and bright woman with great taste, making the experience exactly what I hoped for. You can tell that she really cares about her brides and their dresses, and I would recommend her to anyone right away!

I really cant say much more than everything about my experience with White Orchid Bridal was incredible! I came in to have a custom headpiece (halo) made, but wish so badly that I had needed her to create my dress! I had already bought one unfortunately. We met only one time (but I have no doubt if I had needed multiple appointments Colleen would had made that happen) and upon my return to pick up my halo, it was PERFECT!!! She knew exactly what I wanted, even when I did not. It was delicate, but still had the bohemian look that I wanted to coordinate my entire look. She has an extremely talented and beautiful eye for detail and design, and is a delight to work with. I recommend every bride to talk to her and work with her in some way. I came across Colleen when I was looking for someone who could get my alterations done quickly. My gown came in three weeks before the wedding and she rocked it out! Most people were completely unwilling to work with me because of the time constraints. She was very reassuring and knowledgeable! To top everything off, I have slightly abnormal body proportions and Colleen made my gown look more gorgeous than I could have dreamt!

Setting aside the fact that I could just sit and talk to Colleen all day because she’s so cool, she gave me exactly what I wanted in a very short period of time. Words can not express how grateful I am that we have such a talented bridal designer in Knoxville! Of course, I have seen Colleens work around town (she makes amazing hats), but I was incredibly impressed with the work she did for my wedding. I needed a custom bridesmaids gown for my 11 year old daughter, a headpiece for her, my headpiece, and a garter set. We sat down together and she designed the dress with me present, based on the look and feel of my gown and the wedding decor. It was an absolute perfect fit, style wise and physically, and so incredibly beautiful! It was worth every penny. (And ladies, while we are speaking of pennies, custom anything doesnt come cheap. If you want a custom look, then dont expect to pay less- she is not a mass retailer. With that said, I found that her price was excellent for what I received. She didnt even tell me she was planning it but made a matching capelet to go with the gown!).As for my headpiece, again we discussed my wedding and my look, and then she created a gorgeous metal/jewel headpiece. I literally didnt have time to see it until 3 days before my event and it was perfect. I can tell you that I received a lot of comments specifically about my headpiece.At the end of the day, Colleen is way more than a fantastic seamstress, she is a talented designer that listens to YOUR ideas, and creates items that are just beautiful. She is patient, asks great questions, and appreciates your special event. I will refer her to many a bride for a long time to come!

Collen is such an amazing, creative, and talented person to work with! I had a very small and last minute wedding. She created a sash/belt to make my store bought dress feel special and unique and also a veil. Perhaps consider managing your time so as not to do to another bride what you did to me, or watch a few youtube videos to improve your skill set. You know what you did.......or rather didn’t do.

I was absolutely satisfied with the quality of work that was done on my daughters wedding dress.

Colleen was absolutely fabulous to work with. Through my wedding attire, I wanted to create an antique/Victorian/steampunk/turn-of-the century yet still feminine look. I scoured the big box wedding gown store, a few small local boutiques, searched magazines, and even online. I could not find anything remotely close to what I was looking for. From the first time I spoke with Colleen over the phone, I knew immediately she was going to be able to design and create for me exactly what I wanted. Being an artist myself, I sometimes find it difficult to convey my idea where another person can visualize what Im talking about. Colleen was instantly able to pick up on my style. She was a great listener and took note of all the ideas I threw at her. She was able to compile my ideas into the wedding gown of my dreams. Alongside my suggestions, I gave her creative freedom to work her magic. She threw in her own ideas and gave the look her own style, and it was absolutely perfect. From there, she made custom accessories (a belt and a headpiece--which included a gorgeous flower clip) to compliment my custom gown. Colleen is so knowledgable about the various historical periods of dress, fabric types, textures, drapery, and she has an excellent eye for design. She took special care to encorporate my hair cut and color, skin tone, and body type into her designs. The entire look captured my unique personality, it exuded elegance, and I felt 100% comfortable wearing it. Colleen was fun yet professional to work with, she was empathetic to my emotions, and she exhibited great skill in her craftsmanship. My wedding was in September (of 2012), and people are still talking about my gown! I completely enjoyed my entire experience at White Orchid Bridal, and I would recommend her to any bride-to-be. She will amaze you!!!

She responded to one email then just stopped after I responded to her question back in January. Then I sent her another email the following day and got nothing back.
