Riding an electric bike with my son, an energy replenishment point on the way. There is ample parking lot here. Plenty of outdoor dining tables, if you add an exquisite European-style garden, it will be more perfect, but he doesnt have it. This is a grocery store selling Italian food. Inside is like a food plaza composed of different partners. It sells raw meat, sausage, cheese, pickles, salads, pizza, sandwiches, drinks, seasonings, snacks, sweets, bread, ice cream, coffee, tea, drinks and more. I bought two pieces of pizza, and the young salesperson volunteered to help me reheat the pizza in the oven. It was very heartwarming. Please remember that the pizza here is made with an electric infrared heating oven with pizza stone, not a wood-burning pizza oven. . The pizza is also a New York style with rich ingredients, but it is easy to eat, and there is no complaint. Then I bought a cup of espresso coffee, a cup of cappuccino, and a piece of mullet bread. The coffee here is generally not special, although it uses lily coffee beans, it is also a professional commercial espresso machine., But the taste is like the coffee beans that have been opened for a long time, the fat is not very strong, and the cappuccino is just a normal American taste. The overall feeling of coffee is just one word, light. That mullet bread is just mediocre, a bit cold. Then I bought a cup of double-ball ice cream. My son had a very happy meal. Well, Im still reliable with Nice Cream ice cream. Generally speaking, this is a concentrated place for leisure and socializing in the community. It is also a snack place for many parents and children after school. It has the convenience of home, long service hours, low prices, convenient parking, and a moderate location. One place can meet most of your needs. But he is not authentic, he has everything but nothing is done well, he has no native Italian soul. Whats the problem? Even if he is 100% Italian, how many people can care about it. Anyway, it is convenient, cheap, and serving the community wholeheartedly is already very good. At least he is a resting place for my parents and children. I cherish and enjoy all the good times he brings. thanks.

First time here and I was super impressed! I have driven past so many times wanting to stop before but never had the time. I’ll be back for sure and will be bringing my family to check it out. Chatted with the one of the owners and managers and they were very nice. They took some time to tell me a bit about their history and even gave me a cannoli as a welcome gift! Thank you for a wonderful first experience!

We have been going to the Italian Store since the 80s! When my husband was selling the condos across the street from the Lyon Village we eat many meals from there! When the Westover store was open we started going there and at the beginning it was as good as we remembered. The last couple of times we drove, from Burke, VA, for subs we were disappointed at the unfriendliness of the staff. We were there yesterday, wanted a Genoa on a hard roll, when I asked about it, I was TOLD that if that it what I wanted, I had to call and order it! I am in the store??? Call and order it? We did. Had gelato, again not friendly staff, while we waited. My husband had the Capri on a soft roll, and I had the Genoa on a hard roll. Tasteless! Very little dressing, no oregano……..a disappointment. What has happened to the Italian Store from the Lyon Village, The friendly staff and feeling welcomed and wanting to comeback for more? We are sad to realize that we are not coming back for subs again!

So disappointed. I away moved from the DC area 2 years ago to a place where I can’t find a decent sub. Visiting the area for the first time since I left and a sub from the Italian Store was the top thing on my list to do. Apparently the 7 guys behind the sandwich counter only know how to make 5 of the sandwiches on the menu. If I wanted any of the other subs, I had to order from the register in the back where I was informed it would take 55 minutes. Not wanting to wait an hour for one of the 7 sandwich makers to make the sub I actually wanted, I grabbed one of the premade subs. The entire experience was disappointing.

The pizza was good. It would be nice if there were a better selection of craft beers, and more Italian beers. It would also be nice if there was one checkout where you could pay for all of your items at one time… I paid for my pizza at one checkout, and my soda at another checkout. I found it a bit confusing. As far as sodas go, most of their craft sodas have artificial ingredients in them (which was a very big disappointment to me). All in all, I feel that this place could be better and more authentic. I will try more of their pizzas in the future.

This is the second location of my beloved Italian store.I drive from Bristow every few weeks to get my delicious cold cuts that I cant find anywhere else. They have amazing subs and very good pizza. The market has tons of very interesting Italian products. If you enjoy cooking you can spend a lot of time going through the isles and exploring new ideas.Their take out food is amazing too (salads, vinaigrettes, side dishes).Their frozen section has very delicious sauces, dairy products and ready to eat frozen meals.Service is always friendly and with a very personal touch. If you grew up outside of the States this store will remind you of the pleasure of small markets, personalized service and great products. They also have good wine for very good prices.

I enjoy the place, good services, nice place to have a cup of Italian coffee with friends. The pizza and gelato there are great. The ready to heat and eat pasta is not bad; good price, fresh and convenient, but nothing special. (I do love eating all kinds of pastas and have had them from cheap eat to expensive eat)Here is the ‘but’, I had a piece of desert from the front, there was no sign what it is, the seller couldn’t tell me what’s called, but it looks great, so I just gave it a try. Oh goodnesses! It’s the sweetest desert I ever had 😣😣😣, I could only eat 2 spoons and I had to let it go. (I love eating deserts of all kinds, and I usually don’t just throw food away, but this is wayyyy too sweet) sadly.

Possibly the best Italian subs on the planet. I got the large Roma on a soft roll with extra meat and both sweet and hot peppers. SO good. There are also many specialties available for purchase, including wines, cheeses, meats, imported pastas, and other treats. Not the cheapest in the region you get what you pay for. Everything is authentic and delicious, the store is clean, and the service friendly and efficient. Parking can get challenging as its an older shopping area that gets super busy on weekends, so call ahead to avoid the lines.

Beware if you’re coming for hoagies! They only serve 2 types of PRE-MADE ones available for pick up. If you want a different hoagie or a customized one you have to call in the order beforehand. My husband and I drove out of our way to come here for the Philly and Genoa and were told they couldn’t make them at the counter. Instead we were told by the man at the deli counter to CALL THE STORE that we were currently standing in and place the order - then they would prepare it. Seriously??!! There were literally 8 people standing behind the counter and 1 customer waiting in this large store. The man who told us this was already defensive and rude when he had to explain this to me so my guess is he’s had to have this awkward convo with other customers before and knows how absurd it is. Anyway, what an incredibly disappointing trip, and we won’t be coming back. What a shame.

Very good products and food items. Services is always lacking though. Nice chaps behind the counter on deli, but overall, its a “help yourself” kind of place. The woman at the register tossed my receipt with when I checked out after buying $35 worth of food and didn’t ask if I wanted it. I stopped her after she crumbled up the receipt and said I needed it for business taxes. She never made eye contact with me throughout the entire transaction. They need to hire and train better people to communicate, it would help the neighborhood feel come back.

Ill preface this review by disclosing that I lived in Italy for seven years, so my standards are high.Im impressed that they have a small selection of real Italian olive oils in three-liter tins. I developed a serious habit for generous pours of good oil to finish all sorts of prepared foods (try it!), and I thought it was all over. Theres not a ton to choose from, but Im happy to see it.The pizza is nice, but so outrageously expensive its hard to taste it through my indignation.I bought some mortadella a while back, which, again, I was happy to see, but the staff had no idea how to cut it - they left the skin on and cut it in huge, thick slices. Mortadella should have the skin removed before slicing and me razor thin...the owners know this, but must not train them in the deli department. Disappointing. At the end of the day, its a village staple and I dont want them to go anywhere! Come to Westover and enjoy your $30 pizza...Ill be down the street at the Westover Beer Garden or across the way at The Lost Dog. Buon appetito.

Visited for the first time today. Overall, what a great store for Italian groceries that might be tricky to find elsewhere. You can find guanciale, ‘nduja, passata, and a wide selection of imported bronze-cut pastas here. No blue box junk, as it should be.However, what’s up with the rigatoni hate? There’s zero rigatoni representation from De Cecco, Mancini, Giuseppe Cocco, and Garofalo. And the one “rigatoni” I found (Bartolini) was so narrow that the manufacturer arguably should have been sold it as elicoidali.

The other location of the Italian Store is fantastic and I give them a 4.5 star rating. This place, not so much.Called in an order for a Philly with everything, since my normal Italian Store location was out of bread...double checked with the person on the phone after ordering that everything was good with the order. Picked it up, there was no olive oil dressing or oregano on the sub, which is supposed to be on every sub they make. Ruined the sandwich. I mean, if i wanted cold cuts thrown on some soggy bread with LTO, I would have just picked up ingredients at the store and made a terrible sandwich on my own.Since the place is too far away to return it, I decided to call just to give them a heads up that whoever is making their food is F’ing it up. Got a girl on the line who I explained the situation to, hoping for at least a refund or free sandwich or something...anything. What I got was “i’ll talk to them for you.” Thanks....that helps me out alot. Cmon, Italian Store, I thought you were better than this.
