Had a ham and Gouda croissant sandwich today. It was definitely good, but nothing different. They do require masks and limit customers in the store. There is a limited amount of outdoor seating. The woman taking orders kept touching her mask with her food preparation gloves on. Her 10 year old daughter was taking orders. They were both very friendly and pleasant, but service was a little slow. I am from out of town so prices were high but appropriate for the area.

Had an assortment of pastries and everything was great. Slightly more expensive than Starbucks, and exponentially higher quality. Id recommendedthe coffee cake and bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The carrot cake is epic also. Small location with no seating, but there are tables and beaches outside.

My wife had the best experience with the owner like employee who helped my baby girl who fell down. Then she came out with first-aid to take care of her with concerns and heartwarming gesture. We will visit here and try some breads and more. Thank you. God bless!

They were out of the only sandwich I wanted 15 min after opening. I had to greet the server vs her greeting me. One small half filled mini container of syrup for two large waffles isn’t nearly enough plus the butter was frozen so not usable plus it tasted like institutional butter. Waffle was good and they open at 6:00 but Prices are too high.

Kind service. Great fresh taste in the food. The scones are more like muffins. The prices are a bit high. And there is no dining in- a bit disappointed in that.

This is my second time here. If youre a lover of high-quality breads and drinks this is the place for you.This time around I tried a few new things. I tried their apple cinnamon waffles, hot chocolate with homemade whipped cream and a couple slices of their famous M bread. Everything was so good and Ive never been so full in my life.As for the service. The whole Bread & Water team could not have been more friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and well maintained. I look forward to coming back again soon. Keep up the great work!!

Great coffee and hot chocolate. The only downside is the closing time. 5pm is a bit early. Especially with the ice skating rink 10 feet away. Many of us dont get off work till after 5. I have lived here since November, and this is the first time I have been able to visit during the week. Every other time its been after 5pm. The kids and I would love to have a nice hot cup of cocoa after skating but alas, its always closed. Shame

Delicious Kielbasa, spinach and cheese waffle! Leave off the syrup and enjoy the flavor explosion. My kids wanted something fast so we could go ice skating, they ended up spending 45 minutes talking about how good the food was.

The yeast of love emerges with every bite. An oasis of artisanship and perfection. Beet hummus. That should move your salivary glands. A bread so light it feels like... Heaven. The brownies, ahhhh. You will have to get there yourself.

A welcome addition to Pentagon row. We just noticed that bread & water company opened up recently-- perhaps this weekend? We stopped off for pastries and coffee. I was pleasantly to find that the owner Noelli (sp?) there. She was very knowledgeable, and was able to talk us through all of the different bread selections. This is a satellite location and that all of their bread is baked fresh and transported in from Alexandria. Its like our very own Farmers Market here! We had the sticky bun and the chocolate chip cookie. We also bought a baguette for the road. It was delicious! I cant wait to make this my local neighborhood place.

Nice coffee, great employees, great treat for the afternoon. We didnt stay and drink our coffee, we took it on the go, but I could see how fun it would be to sit and drink your coffee and chat or read with friends. We will come back and suggest everyone I know to the coffee shop!

Such a depressing experience. I asked for Salmon Avocado Toast and the guy charged me for 7 avocado toast plus two other items I ordered. I never asked for 7!!! I also don’t think that salmon that goes on toast should be somewhat brown...and to finish off the experience...they forgot my muffin.

A classic. Good drinks, treats, and sandwiches. The breakfast biscuit is a favorite amongst my group. It can be a little pricey, but cmon, treat yourself!

Cozy little place. I find it relaxing to watch the skaters on the ice rink adjacent to here. Just seems to be a chill place to relax and prices arent that bad for the area.

Stopped in for a quick Tea and Muffin with family, but ordered the Stollen roll/ holiday bread. So delicious. Its probably a good thing its only available during the holidays, otherwise it would be a challenge keeping the weight off.

I ordered a mocha and a chai latte and I couldn’t drink them; they tasted like dirty water.

They were serving a really limited menu due to the fire, which is totally understandable. The cashier we ordered from looked sick or exhausted or something and barely responded to us when she took our order for coffee and waffles. We got the coffee quickly, and it was pretty good, but I guess the cashier didnt put in our food order. The employees were just chatting with customers and each other and barely working on getting orders out, so by the time we realized our order wasnt coming (after about 25 minutes) we were pretty frustrated. I wasnt interested in waiting another ten minutes for waffles so we asked for a refund and left. Overall just a weird and not great experience. Bread and Water employees at the Alexandria farmers market are always hustling and friendly, so I dont know if the problem is just the day or the location.

Croissants are eh. I like the cinnamon rolls, chocolate cheesecake muffin and some of the waffles they offer.

Just opened! Finally a delicious local alternative for my daily caffeine fix. Super friendly, nice casual vibe, great place for people-watching. Their breads are crazzy yummy, I feel fat and happy now. This is a perfect addition to P-Row.

A nice bakery with good bread! Its sad that good fresh bread is disappearing. The bread and pastries here are good, you can also get a cup of coffee, and some other prepared spreads and things. They also make waffles, which my son gobbled down too fast for a picture...

Delicious coffee! Ham & Swiss croissant was decent but seemed overproofed- it had huge holes with no filling (it’s tough to do a filled pastry!). Despite that, there was super friendly service and nice ambiance, so I’ll be back to try more!

The service is not the friendliest (the cashier this morning was short with me for some reason, and walked away after calling my order--had to ask for condiments) but the waffles and coffee are perfection!

Small quaint coffee shop near the ice rink with a skeleton crew of baristas. The muffins are large and soft and local is warm in winter despite the glass walls. I grabbed a hot chocolate and a medium roast and was quite pleased.

Customer service is subpar for the price they charge.

They were able to hammer out a number of waffles that were ordered after me. Problem with that is, I didnt order waffles. I got stuff that requires much work. An egg salad sandwich and a hummus plate shouldnt take 30 minutes to whip up. It was good, but they have got to get some things worked out.

Cute coffee shop/bread bakery in an excellent location. Anything from iced coffees, to a flat white. They bake massive loaves of fresh bread which, if you are like me and a carb fiend, are to die for. Parking is done on the street or local garage by the mall, but overall really good experience, and ended up going here twice in one day!

Highly recommend.I know it’s a bit of a long review, but I feel the need to outline two reasons why I’m a satisfied customer; beyond the amazing coffee and food.I have been coming here grabbing coffee with my service dog for about a year now. I am in a wheelchair and have an English golden retriever as my service dog. He doesn’t always wear a service vest, because that is not required under the ADA-a federal law.I was in the shop today grabbing coffee. A woman waiting for her coffee made a remark to one of the staff (Eleanor) regarding Buckley asking if they allowed dogs in the shop. Eleanor very calmly and professionally told her that my dog is a service dog. To which the woman said he needs to have a vest. Eleanor again cited the ADA law where that is not a requirement. I went outside after ordering my drink as I didn’t want anyone to be uncomfortable with Buckley’s presence.But the grace with which that situation was handled by The Bread and Water Company was much appreciated. Eleanor and the other staff are extremely friendly people who are always willing to help and also provide excellent coffee and waffles!!On a separate occasion I was grabbing coffee before work and asked Ben if he would be so kind as to bring my coffee to my vehicle when I pulled it around. I couldn’t wheel my chair and hold the coffee at the same time. Without hesitation he willingly complied. Would give this place 5 stars again if I could.Those are two small things that have really made a positive impact on me and have made me a customer for as long as I live near the shop. Thank you guys and keep being awesome!!!

I go here frequently for coffee, the cold brew is always good. Very friendly staff too, today they told me people had said the cold brew was weaker than usual so they offered me a free shot of espresso to go with it. Awesome customer service

Too soon to tell. They still have a ways to go.The small variety of food they sell is very tasty but the menu is simply limited. They are a bit over priced but it is a business that is just starting up.

The food here is great, but the last time I went, the staff was so unorganized that I had to wait nearly an hour for my food despite the small restaurant being half empty. It really soured my opinion of this place.

Really good lunchtime sandwich place. The bread is fresh and you can substitute (if available) for a different kind. Not sure if it was a bad luck, but came in one morning for a pastry and they were a bit stale. Otherwise good spot for a craft sandwich.

I like the environment and they definitely have good coffee and waffles. I wish they open alot earlier and close later. A couple of times I was craving for good coffee, they are close and I ended up going to starbucks.
