The man at the counter, perhaps the owner, is so chill and kind. Doesn’t just take your order but makes sure it’s done right and let’s you know the options. A nice place to come chill or chat or meet up, with both inside and outside options for seating. I didn’t see any food items that were gluten free but there are smoothies and an array of coffee items. I definitely recommend, especially as a catch-up place!
There is a guy in there who serves coffee; hes so very nice with warm disposition & attitude. The coffee here is very good quality and is the BEST price in Arlington or probably in Virginia ($2.00 for small, and $2.32 for medium size). Theres continuous relaxing classical music playing, conducive for study and mental works. There is a fan-like device always on for filtering, purifying the air. You will like this place--I fell in love with the quiet, simplicity, and spirit of this quint Coffee place.
My friend and I had a great experience at this cafe. The drinks and food were great and the staff was welcoming. When I’m in the area I will be going in again.
Im so deeply obsessed with this coffee shop. The drinks and pastries are delicious, the staff are so kind, and the atmosphere is perfect. I cant believe how lucky I am to live nearby.
Echoing a previous review that this isn’t the place for you if you’re in a hurry. That said, I love the menu and the ambiance. It’s never super noisy so it’s a good place to sit and work, which is what I always look for in a coffee shop. Plus, it’s the only alternative to Starbucks in the immediate vicinity so that wins it some points. I don’t have any issues with Starbucks but the one across from Rappahannock is always crowded and kind of cold because the door is opening and closing all the time. I’ll take the couch at Rappahannock any day, thank you.
Absolutely fantastic espresso, and very cheap! These people care about their coffee and it shows.
Best cookie and coffee place around
I visited and had lemon tea, bagel with cream cheese.😊😊
Breve was good. Staff was meh.
Out of all the cafes Ive been to on my weekend trip to DC this one is by far my favorite. Its cozy and down to earth. The Tiramisu is lovely and the hot chocolate is wonderful, nothing like the watered down kind at Starbucks. Its rich and creamy. 5/5 I highly recommend coming here rather then starbucks (across the street)
Classic and inspiring. I buy all my cooffee from Rappanhock Coffee. RCC is the finest coffee shop in NOVA. They provide quality and consistent coffee with a pride that only comes from a locally owned small business. No hipsters, no frills. Just perfect service and great coffee.
They have a yummy Honey vanilla latte! Subtly sweet and still has a nice coffee kick. Just recently moved to the area and will be back regularly for that!
If you like local coffee places, this one fits the bill! Try their sienna chicken panini! They roast their own beans as well, so grab a drink!
Coffee tastes good. Van Goghs pictures on cup. So faaaancy
Veteran baristas, Ive always get a good tasting mocha from here.
Chocolate chip cookies to die for. Just cant pronounce the name of the cafe :p
Coffee was spot on. Ill be going back soon
Barista made an amazing almond milk latte.
My favorite are the scones, bagel with cream cheese and cappuccino.
Terrific hot cider. Doing a great job of being safe.
I grew up going their over the years it holds a special place in my heart and memory coming here for soo long. Id recommend going alone at least once or twice or more would recommend very nice 🥰😇😊✌
Adorable coffee shop! Its got an old-school feeling to it. Like it takes you back in time, in a good way. Great customer service, and the coffee and other things they sell are fun comfort foods.
Very nice cozy and great coffee place!
Great place with good coffee- support local business!
I love this place! Its super quaint. If you need to get some work done or write a book this is a place for you. The staff is always friendly and inviting. The gently played classical music is a plus for great concentration.
Everyone excellent coffee, and i love their spinach quiche. Very nice small business
Nice relaxed environment. Not too crowded on a Saturday morning, with plenty of indoor seating available (outside seating consisted of a single table & 2 chairs). I tried a frozen coffee beverage, which was fantastic and well made. Service was quick and I will certainly return in the future. Hours posted were 6a - 7p.
Nice little neighborhood coffee shop. They roast and grind their own beans here. Im not a coffee drinker, but, I can vouch for their tea, hot chocolate, and especially their smoothies. The sandwiches are tasty, and made to order. The sweets and breakfast pastries are also fine. And supporting local businesses is always a plus.
Its a nice place, but not for you if youre in a rush. Most times Im here there is only one staff member, so service is of course a little slow. Coffee is good and bagels are A+. Staff is not overly personable, but certainly not rude. There is a $3 minimum for credit/debit, which is pretty reasonable. Overall a nice place.
Very cozy feel, you can tell this is a community centric coffee shop and everyone there seems like regulars. I enjoyed drinking my Americano while reading some articles on my phone. Definitely a perfect spot for a quiet relaxed Sunday morning. The coffee was also very good, served a little hot to drink immediately but just gives you all the more reason to sit and relax while you wait for it to cool.
One of THE BEST coffee shops in the area. The owners are hardworking (open 7 days a week) and very friendly. There happens to be a Starbucks right across the street from them but people line up out the door @ Rappahannock Coffeehouse. That should tell you all you need to know! The Coffeehouse has a very homey feel to it with areas to sit & chat as well as tables to eat at. Not a huge menu as far as the food but very good & always fresh. You cant go wrong by choosing the Rappahannock Coffeehouse. I LOVE their cafe mochas!
The barista (if you could call him that) was very dismissive of your presence. He also doesnt clean the milk foaming wand ever. To top it off, the menu calls their lattes foamy yet it looked like hed never been shown how to foam milk. The food could potentially be good, but the overall health standards and poor customer service made me never want to return.
I tried out Rappahannock coffee the other day. I love the shop. Its tiny, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the homemade bagels are amazing. I ordered a mocha which was ok. The beans they use smell great, but they are really oily, which gives the coffee a bit of a bitter taste. The staff was extremely nice and I would go back just for the atmosphere.
Nice coffee shop, with fast service. Outlets are a little hard to come by, but if youre fully charged and its pretty low key and easy to get work done. I would come back.
Best coffee in the area - roasted on-site. Great neighborhood place.
Stop by on the weekends. Paul is always nice and open for interesting conversation. He also makes a mean esperesso. Kids love the hot chocolates. Sandwiches are made to order and delicious. Cookies and desserts are good too.
Great small shop. The coffee is quite good. I got an iced coffee and an iced mocha. The Lox was also great. There is a $3 minimum for credit cards.
Most of the time this place is great. A couple of times they have messed up my order though. I still like local better though.
Arrived right at opening one Saturday morning. The staff was impatient to get my order despite no one else being in the shop. I personally don’t like being rushed and I wanted to see all their options. I ordered a latte and it was neither bad or great but the same price as Starbucks.
Coffee shop is so cozy, coffee tastes very rich and soft, close to European coffee! Service is perfect. Tried same kind of coffee with in sturbucks which is right across the street, sturbucks is loosing by all taste points.Recommend this place!!!
Great local spot, also the coffee is the best in the area. The food is delicious as well, very cozy and authentic place in the neighborhood.
Quiet little coffee shop. Delicious freshly ground coffee and the sweetest blueberry muffin I have ever had.
Wonderful local coffee shop. This place is so nondescript and is probably overshadowed by the Starbucks that sits right across the street, but really exceeded my expectations. The coffee itself was very good. I got their blend of dark and medium roast on the cashiers recommendation, and I wasnt disappointed.Ill also say the staff was great. Paul, the only employee working when we went, was awesome. Not super talkative, but made some great recommendations and was very nice. Honestly, hes half of what made our experience so great. There definitely isnt a lot of money in this place and it isnt as flashy or hipster as some of the other coffee shops in the area (the logos on their coffee beans were clearly made in Microsoft Word, their cup sleeves were Vineyard Vines Christmas ads and the whole place just smelled kind of old), but thats what gave it its charm. It felt like a coffee shop that you would find in a rural town, not the heart of our nations capital.Couple of takeaway thoughts:1) We went near closing on a Saturday evening, so the shop was pretty much empty and we were served almost immediately. But, from reading other reviews, it looks like they usually only have one employee working at a time which means there could be a significant wait if you go during peak hours.2) Theres not a ton of seating. They have a few tables and a bar at the front of the shop along with a couch and a couple swivel chairs in the rear. The whole shop is pretty quiet, so its a great place to get some work done, just know that you could be fighting for space.3) Theres a small gravel lot behind the shop that youre allowed to park in, but its not huge. So you may have a little trouble in that department. But again, its not an issue if you avoid going during peak hours.Overall, this place is awesome and I will definitely go again.
Owner is rude. Coffee is so-so. Just go to Starbucks across the street. I kinda preferred the vibe of this place over Starbucks across the street. I went 2-3 times a week over the last month or so. I always made purchases (served by the owner) and sat and worked as I drank my coffee. One particular morning I setup to do some work without making a purchase and was rudely asked to Go! by the owner. I was literally there the previous day, and he served me. I could see if it were jam packed. But it was around 1030AM on a Thursday. There were 3 other people inside. I will not be back. Ill be getting my coffee from Starbucks. Youd think this place would be more accommodating...STARBUCKS IS LITERALLY ACROSS THE STREET! Good job! You guys just lost a customer!
Great coffee and other drinks, great food, great service. Cannot recommend more highly.
Cozy hole in the wall. Loved sitting here with a cup and studying.
I visit every now and then. The sandwiches are tasty and the staff is friendly. As others have noted they usually only have one or two people behind the counter so during rush periods things can get backed up a bit. But if you get there at the right time its fine. They both open and close earlier than most places. Great if youre a morning person, but your evening study sessions will have to be elsewhere. Which is sad because this would be great for it.
Once it was 4 stars, however today I took two away just because of the staff. I was barely greeted when I came in, and they forget the bagel and cream cheese I ordered until I went back up to the counter to ask about it. This kind of service wont do the business well.
They are doing some good work on the coffee machines. People are always in here (a sign of a good coffee shop) and they may or may not roast their own coffee. Ive never actually seen them use that back area for roasting, but its there if they want to use it.All the coffee is good, and the local pastries are solid as well. Glad there is no starbucks to compete with it just due to brand recognition.
Atmosphere, decent desserts and prices, good seating, private. But not very friendly staff, a bit short. Its ok if you just want to mind your own business and get work done.
Good independent coffee shop. Nice people. Good service, coffee, bagels and sandwiches. They also sell roasted coffee beans. Occasionally some good jokes!
I have only been once but its a chill, yet quaint place. I had a sandwich with turkey, cheese, and cranberry sauce on white bread. It was alright, served with chips. The owner/operator, I think his name is Paul, seems to be a friend with many regulars. Hes got a roaster in house and I believe he sells beans. Wi-Fi is available. Great chance get away from the chain cafes.
Wife & I love this little coffee joint. They mix ice cream in the frozen coffee drinks. Need I say more? Mmmmmm
I have passed by this place so many times in the last 6 months. It smelled sooooo nice even from the outside. Decided to step in today for a coffee. This place has the best coffee.. Great service and very kind people!Would highly recommend it!
I have given this cafe multiple tries but everytime it fails me. The first time the wifi was awful. The second time the customer service was awful: the barista barely spoke to me, the brownie tastes like it was made from a box and there was a guy who stared at me the entire time. This time, I sat down and the owner immediately came to me and asked me what u needed and said I should go to the library instead. Of course, I was going to order after sitting because I also needed the wifi, but the fact that you follow someone in right after they come in to tell them this is not a library and what do you need? is unacceptable This is not the customer service that would be expected from a family owned cafe. I really tried to support this cafe and not go to the Starbucks across the street, but this is why I am crossing the line. Starbucks will never behave like this.
Great place to work on your computer and have a coffee or something to bite. Its my favorite place. I love it.
Old school good
Everything bagel with just a hint of salt. Wonderful roasted with cream cheese. Free WiFi and a cozy neighborhood feel.
Very small but much greater than starbucks. Cozy atmosphere, complementary wifi, restrooms and of course great great coffee. Theres a selection of food options to choose from. The inside isnt pet friendly but theres one table outside where your fury friend can keep you company while you drink you coffee.
Best bagil with cream cheese in the whole world
Everything you could want in a Metropolitan coffee shop with a laid back vibe.
Great community, independent coffee shop. Unique sandwiches are very good and made to order.
Cozy old-fashioned neighborhood coffee joint. Tried it for the first time with a Rappaccino, delicious coffee milkshake with generous whipped cream.
I guess if you want fast service go to the Starbucks across street. But 1 guy working and tons of customers. Way too slow.
Great place, quiet and food music. The coffee is very good as well.
2 bucks for a cup of coffee is great. However, I have cut back my visits there because they will not take my debit card unless I make a purchase of 5 dollars or more. A shame because it is the best coffee.
Nice little place across from Starbucks. Drinks are better and tastier than Starbuck although being cheaper.
The mocha is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy. Prices are on point and their sandwiches are amazing.
Great coffee and a lovely atmosphere. Not a fast service establishment but absolutely worth the wait for the coffee
Great little independently owned neighborhood coffee shop! The cafě breve is yummy and Paul is awesome :) & their paninis are delicious
Came here looking for a new regular coffee place as I just moved to the area and some friends suggested it to me. Came in waited at the counter for 5min while the lady was having a conversation with a regular. Finally asked if someone can help me and was glared at. Got a cup of OK iced coffee and left, I will not be returning.
Super fast service, I usually wait at least 15 min to get a latte in the morning rush, but baristas are amazing fast here.
My latte was just alright. Wasnt impressed with the customer service either. My husband got a plain black coffee, and it tasted like it had been sitting on the burner for 8 hours. I would suggest getting coffee elsewhere.
Nice local place, roasts their own coffee their I think. The service was fine, but overall not a stand out coffee shop.
Quite little place with great coffee, many people here are doing something on the coffee table.I just wish there was more table
Nice quirky local color type neighborhood cafe, coffee and food is significantly better than average.
Staff is great, works hard food is good, coffee is fantastic. support local eat drink and talk here!
A nice local place, quieter than the big chain across the street and more personal.
Great place for coffee and a quick bite to eat.
Lovely neighborhood coffee shop. Rare gem in an age of Sbux
Very good coffee drinks. Modestly prices. Friendly. Small roaster.
It was really nice.
Went once and wont be back. Terrible uninviting atmosphere with creepy staff. And the coffee is sub par.
Love it. Everything yummy and well made.Just please wipe down the counters!!! What the heck?
Wow its a small hole in the wall, but its family owned, local history and the barista is really friendly. Will return!
If his coffee shop was a block closer I would go more often. Its a nice neighborhood staple.
Excellent chai tea latte
Old, dirty place but good coffee.
I never preferred it and now that theres a Starbucks across the street, I never go there unless I overflow Starbucks.
This place is pretty good when its on, but a miserable wait and the food quality suffers when its off. I agree that owner, Paul, is awesome, but other staff are definitely less welcoming. I also wish there where more milk options - even Café Sazon down the street consistantly has a almond milk in addition to soy...and there isnt always soy here!
Great coffee shop.
Gentleman was very rude and short when asked if I could use the restroom. Ultimately told me, No
Cozy, great coffee, great prices. There is no reason to ever pass this place up for the chain across the street.
Nice place for coffee and bagels.
Great place! My favorite coffee shop.
Perfect neighborhood coffee spot
Fantastic independently owned coffee shop on Columbia Pike!
Love this mom and pop coffee shop!
